Hi. I started this challenge a week ago. I haven’t been on here regularly this week, but I’m making progress. Sugar is a trigger for me. I can do fine without it, but if I have some I want more and more. There’s been a lot of candy, munchkins, and other goodies at work. I have set a goal for myself that I will substitute something else, such as gum, when I feel tempted.

AugustDragon, congratulations on achieving your goal weight! That’s fantastic. emoticon I too crave sweets the following day after indulging in them.

Take care everyone.

I reached my weight loss goal this month (lost 54lbs) It's funny how with that comes the mindset that now you don't have to work so hard. Wrong. I've always thought that maintaining the goal was the hardest. My biggest sugar enemy is cookies. Can't eat just one, unless you count the whole package as one, then it's okay. I also am aware that if I start on something sugary one day, then next day my body seems to be howling for more. I expect that this challenge will give me more tools to slay this beast known as sugar. I am not interested in revisiting all the pounds that I have left behind. Wishing luck and strength to all of us on this journey.

Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis

rushing toward the future. Live the actual moment.

Hello all! My name is Meghan and I am 34 years old with two sons aged 3 1/2 years and 3 months. Sugar is a serious addiction for me. Whenever I want a snack the sweet stuff is where I always go. I joined this challenge because I need something to help jump start my weight loss journey. Giving up sugar is going to be one of the hardest things I need to do to get healthy, so I 've decided to tackle it first. Wish me luck!

Hello, My name is Amanda and I am a sugarholic. A little about myself I have an amazing 15 month old son, I work in a busy ER (430P-3A) and am married to such a nice guy. My problem is I love sugar, I think about food or sweets all the time 24/7! I try to eat healthy as much as possible but I tend to give in to blizzards, cookies and chocolate then I beat myself up for giving in. I've tried to not eat sugar or added sugar items and that lasts for about a min and I give in every time:(. So this is why I have joined this group. So wish me luck because I am determined to fight back!

Amanda

Hi guys! My name is Alicia Tirrell, I am 24 years old (turning 25 in November) and I have always had an addictive personality. Whenever I give up one addiction I just turn to another! A few years ago I realized I had become an alcoholic - not to mention I was smoking too - so I cleaned my life up and again, replaced that addiction with another - SUGAR. I have eaten so much sugar in the last couple of years it is mind boggling. It's gotten to the point where I have to eat something sugary every day and if I don't, I get a headache the next day.

I know I can give up sugar because I WANT to and because I've given up so many things in the past so I am just here for the support and to support others in their decisions as well! Today is day two for me and since I didn't eat any sugar I do have a headache. Hopefully this will discontinue in a week from now :)

Hi team! Banishing sweets for a month just to prove that I can. Sweets are my #1 diet hangup and I'm going to beat this.

Hi, I am just a bit confused! I see all these posts about week one, and not having sugar, but I thought in week one we were to track and be cognizant of what, how much and how often we are eating sugar. about twenty years ago I decided I would eat nothing with sugar that was listed within the first five ingredients. I lost about sixty pounds.............then I started again, and gained it all back and then some. Sooo...........first week, what are we to be doing?? Not eating sugars or watching what and how we eat for this first week? Thanks in advance for the answers!............Vickie G

With God all things are possible.

I'm Alicia, another new mom to a three month old. Sugary things is the end of me and I'm making the commitment to myself to stop eating and drinking so much sugar. I've already cut down on the sugar in my coffee, and eating a lot less chocolate, but it's the biscuits I need to kick now.
But I'm on it!

Hi everyone! My name is Tiffany, and my sugar cravings kick in after dinner, in the evening. I can go all day "behaving" and avoiding sweets, but at the end of the day i'm finding a reason to have dessert! Not healthy dessert, either. I won't keep junk food in the house, but if my kids have any, I'll find it, or I'll go out and get it. Its horrible! Hopefully this challenge will help me keep my cravings at bay. I'm excited to start!

hey everyone!
My name is melissa, i am 22 and i weigh 165 pounds. as you can tell by my username, I am addicted to chocolate and cake and cookies and just about anything YUMMMMY. I love food... but i dont love it as much as i love myself or my happiness. i am new to this website and have been finding it really inspiring. the first challenge i chose was this one because i think if i dont get my cravings under control, theres no way to actually succeed. my habits are usually sporadic and come spontaneously. if i see a food i want and i dont allow myself the chance to have it, i will think about it for many hours until i get it. this is the scariest thing to me- how some ppl can control themselves but I am a slave to food. I am looking forward to being challenged in a psychological and physical kind of way and hope to respond back at the end of the 4 weeks with positive feedback! here i go!

Instead of thinking about all the things you are missing, try thinking about the things that you have that everyone else is missing :)

Hi Everyone!
I'm Jodi and I am an afternoon pantry raider. I try not to keep treats in the house but because I have three kids, the treats seem to come home and multiply anyway. Every holiday, every birthday, every time grandpa comes over to visit, more of the stuff piles into my house. Cookies, Easter candy, you name it.

I'm hoping that by becoming more aware of my eating habits and with the support of the group that I can start being better at making good eating choices.

Thanks for having a challenge like this!

Progress, not perfection!

My name is Jan and I have a major sweet tooth and emotional eating problem. I have noticed that the days I stick to my healthy eating plan and stay away from the refined carbs and sweets I have a lot less joint pain and more energy. I'm currently in between jobs so now is a good time to get back on track.

My name is Amanda and I have a major sweet tooth. Over time I have learned how to have self control and think about my health when making decisions about what I eat. Lately, I've been under a lot of stress and have turned to eating my emotions. I've started gaining weight and I want to break this cycle before it goes too far. I'm on Day 2 of this challenge and feeling determined and excited.

Good morning everyone!!

I have a terrible addiction to anything sweet. This has been my downfall for as long as I can remember. I use to be able to control what & how much I ate but I have learned that I am an emotional eater. And when those emotions are uncontrollable so are my eating habits. I'm currently working on the emotional issues & now I'm hoping this challenge will help me with my sweet cravings. emoticon emoticon

Good Evening, Everyone emoticon

It's been a bad month for me, but i've learned alot about myself. For the past 6 months, starting with Holloween last year and the candy that comes with the holidays, it kills me!
I'm trying to figure out how I finally stopped the sugar cravings, after Christmas and here I am again with Easter.
I really need help, I've gained weight and very upset at myself for this! I not going to give up! So this is where I start my journey, to taming my sweet tooth.

Hi! Sounds like my husband, he used to put in a lot of sugar to his coffee. Have you tried Truvia, made from the stevia plant? It is a great alternative to sugar. I use it in my tea and love it. It's a much better option than Splenda or any other artificial sweeteners!
My sugar sweetness weakness is in cookies, candy or chocolate! ahhhh!! Sometimes the cravings hit hard and I find it almost impossible to not give in to them, it can be really frustrating!
I am glad I found this group too!

Wow--I love the introductions. And I love just about everything that is sweet!!! So, I decided I'd give this challenge a try to see if I can "win the battle" once and for all.

Hi... I am awful when it comes to cofee. I like to put at least two heaping tablespoons of sugar in the my coffee. My husband use to say " would you like some coffee with all that sugar?" So this is where I really need to cut back. Plus I need to get off the dessert wagon. I figure if it says no fat or low fat that I am fine, but I must consider the sugar in each serving. So glad to have found this group!! emoticon

Hi I am Cynthia, I have tried SP a few years back but lost track...and just started up again this past January my biggest challenge has been avoiding the sweets. No matter what program I am following I always manage to find some cheat that I can "justify".
I didn't have time to review the challenge when I signed up...how do I get back to the page with the goal checklist?

Hi, I'm Susan. Although I have joined - but then didn't really participate - in several challenges, I think my heart is in this one. I will not "officially" begin until tomorrow. Today I will do the preparation that I need. I will make my list of reasons I want to do this and I'll post it where I will see it frequently. I will take my measurements and buy a scale so I can better track my progress. Those two things may sound small and even insignificant to some of you (and I admire your confidence and strength), but to me these two things are HUGE! I have successfully avoided doing both for the past 5 years. I have been tracking my weight via the scale at the doctors office and by how my clothes fit.

It is time for me to make some changes and I think I am ready to begin. I certainly hope so anyway. I think this challenge will be a good way for me to begin.

Good Luck to all of us!!

Hello! I'm Kathi and I've only been on Spark for a couple of months. I took the Sweet-Tooth Quiz and realized that I was totally out of control with my sweet tooth. So I joined this group in hopes that in addition to me working on my outbreaks of wanting sugary snacks, the support of reading all ya'lls posts would also inspire and support me. Good luck to everyone!

God gives me every day and I am thankful. I hop to my goals daily.

Hi! I'm Ritzy. I have been on Sparkpeople for a while but it's only now that I have managed to push myself to commit to a regimen and make sparkpeople a part of it. I have sweet teeth, not just a tooth and I crave something sweet after every meal. Funnily, if I go overboard with it, I begin to feel the need for something salty. As a result, not only do I consume more calories than I intended but ruin all the effort I put in the rest of the day. I am about 90 pounds overweight. I got married sometime ago and my aim is to reach a weight wherein I shouldn't feel embarrassed when my hubby lifts me in his arms. Right now I'm mortified at the thought of him pulling a muscle or breaking something when he lifts me. So, here's to the hope of shedding, because hope is a good thing and good things never die.

Hi,

My name is Heather, I've been on SparkPeople for over a year now. Unfortunately, I stopped logging in and stopped tracking my food so I gained back the 10 pounds that I lost. I've noticed that sweets are a serious weakness of mine and has been throughout my life, so I hope to have some type of tame over it.

Thanks!

Heather

My name is Stephani and I have been on spark for a good while, I have been research the things that might be making it difficult for me to lose weight. A stable blood sugar is very important so that means getting my sugar eating into some kind of control - I think this team will help me find out how this can be done.

Hi everyone. I'm Stephanie. I am having a problem controlling my sweet tooth. Seems like since I started working full time again. I am wanting to pretty much cut sugar and artificial sugar out of my diet.

hope I introduced myself but incase I didn't. my name is mary. I live in new Hampshire. I am a mother of 4 grown boys that are 43, 42, 40, and 30 years old. I have 13 grandkids and 1 great granddaughter. I don't get to see them much except my oldest lives here and I see his boys every other weekend and any vacation time they have from school and my next to youngest has 2 that live across the street. I see them playing all the time and they come up and play with my sons two boys. hoping maybe I can get a bike and ride with them this summer down the roads and back. it would be fun if this big old body can handle a bike, lol I have 95 pounds to lose and if I could lose 2 pounds a week then it will take until feb. 2015. I hope I can last that long. usually after a month I am ready to quit. I have been eating healthy and having none to very little amounts of sugar in my diet. pounds don't want to come off very easily but I am sticking with this. I was a big overeater also and I have changed my habits drasticly. I do not taste test everything while I am eating and I do not ever get seconds. I use to eat everything because food cost so much. now I have a lot of containers in my freezer that are full of dinners that I did not have seconds that I use as a lunch or dinner again. I have a gazelle that my adopted daughter let me use and I workout on it 60 minutes a day, at fast and slow speeds .I joined sparks because I needed to be able to keep track of my calories. my wellness coach told me to find one and this is it. she said she didn't think I was getting enough calories in a day. even though I assured her I thought I was getting more than 1200 a day. and so far that statement was correct. well I guess I have said enough about me and who I am. thanks for being part of my challenge to lose weight . its been very helpful so far.

My name is Pam. As long as it is not in the house, I can do pretty good for awhile but then my mind starts thinking about indulging in sweets (or carbs in general) and then when I do go for it, I have tendency to only stop when I am stuffed. I feel so weak when all of this happens and so out of control not to mention it really impacts my efforts to lose weight.

My name is Kaelyn, and I'm a sugar addict. I thought I would do myself a favor and continue to keep desserts in my diet- in moderation of course. It seems to work for a while. When someone offers me a dessert, I take a small portion and stick to it. Then a day or two later, I can't get the sugar out of my head. It gets to the point when my "shaky-starving" feeling does not subside until I have soda, candy, or more dessert. So, I decided it's time for a "re-boot." While I don't normally have a lot of soda (6 oz when I have pizza with my parents on Friday and another 6 oz with lunch at their house on Sunday), if I cave and buy a 20 oz Mt. Dew at work to "treat" my headache, I have to get one the next two nights. Suddenly 12 oz of soda each week becomes 72 oz of soda. Whoops. And when I start buying sodas, then I want the sour gummy worms, gummy bears, chocolate, starburst, etc. Whoops again. So, I'm starting by cutting out the soda. Perhaps the rest will follow suit...

Hello everyone. I'm Sarai and I am morbidly obese and a sugar addict. I am also insulin resistant. I have to cut out the sweets and lose weight or I will be a diabetic in no time. I have never had much success with support group because I never seem to stick with them but I'm going to try this time. This challenge is the kickoff.

Slow and steady!

Hi,
I started this program about 6 months ago, but wasn't ready. So, I'm back again to try it and succeed. My problem area is mostly my daughter's house. Even though I never raised her with sweets and she doesn't eat them herself, she buys all sorts of sweets for her son, my grandson. It's so unhealthy. I can't seem to resist when I go over there. So, this will be my biggest challenge. I think I'm going to reward myself with a dollar for every day I'm sugar free. That way I can have a reward and more motivation. I reward myself by buying a little tid bit at the dollar store every time I go to the gym and it works well. There's nothing lke rewards. Now all I have to do is wait out the cravings till they are gone and I'll be fine! Well, after I do all the things this challenge has me do.

Wish me well! emoticon

Hi, I joined this challenge last year when it first started, but never completed anything.
I have decided that I need to cut out those sweets to get healthier.
My kidney doctor mentioned the words pre-diabetic at my checkup yesterday. So I know I need to cut out some of those bad foods to get my glucose levels down a bit more and my
triglycerides too.
So I am going to start this again and try to complete it this time.
Taking steps to regain health.
