Hi, I'm Laurie and I too struggle with sugar addiction. I can go for periods of time without sugar and feel like I've kicked the habit. Then, I give in to a little bite of sweetness and the cravings return full force. I end up binging until I make myself physically sick enough to stop the sugar intake until the next go around. It's become a destructive cycle that I am so ready to break!

Hello! I'm Cathlin and I have been struggling with my sugar addiction for some years now. I'd like to ultimately lose the weight I've put on over the past 3-4 years (40 pounds) as well break the habit of not eating all day and then bingeing on sweet things at night. I do not like healthy food so this is a big challenge. I'd also like to regain my energy of yester-year!
Looking forward to being part of the challenge!

Greetings
I am Carrie and a family member has type 2 diabetes and recently my mother-in-law who spends a lot of time in my home was diagnosed with diabetes so my risk factors are higher than normal.
I want to take this challenge to better understand the condition and how I can do better at having the right foods in our home. I also want to get my immediate family off the refined sugar and other foods that put us all at risk.
This challenge came just at the right time for me

I am Keely. I feel like I have made significant progress on eating too many sweets, but I know I could take it even further. My biggest vices right now are chocolate (I try to always choose dark) and Coke. I was doing really well with avoiding soda, but I recently started taking a medication that makes me sleepy and I am not sure to get through days of full time work and school without the caffeine.

Hello everyone, my name is MaryAnn and I honestly believe that the very first tooth I cut was my sweet tooth. And it, being the first and the oldest, taught all other incoming teeth it's bad habits.

I have to try everything I can think of, just to out smart it. Right now I have resorted to keeping the sweets in our bedroom closet. My DH goes to bed early as he is up at 4am for work. I would have to sneak past sleeping beauty to get to them. This has helped a lot, since I tend to crave sweets mostly at night. And banishing them form the house entirely is not an option, as DH would miss them in his lunch.

When the world says, "Give up."

Hope whispers, "Try it one more time."

Every blog I write talks about my sugar addiction. I joined SP because I was diagnosed with kidney disease and pre-diabetes and the free ride of no worries was over.

That was 18 months ago and I now weigh 30 pounds more! I've done a great job building a healthy diet, it's just that I keep piling sugar on top of it. I see my kidney doc next week and I know my kidney function will have suffered. I'm literally, actively killing myself and I haven't been able to stop.

I look forward to beating this and I'm sure this challenge will help! I can do it!

Hi, I am Carma and I am sugar-dependent. I recently decided to try to see how many hours I can go without sugar before giving in and if I can make it until after work I get to have one piece. The problem is if I don't I can't help myself and overindulge the rest of the day. This is a real problem for me and not sure how to fix it. I would like to be "normal" and be able to eat an occasional treat for social reasons without becoming sugar monster. I decided to join this team because I am not making it on my own.

I had my evening sugar craving last night and ended up eating 6 cookies. I had 2 gone before I even realized they were in my hand. Couldn't put the rest back though. Bummer! I felt like I had no will power last night at all. Trying to make up for it today by doing extra exercises. I'm heading to bed right now so the cravings won't even get a chance tonight. Gotta learn to grab a fruit instead of cookies. I don't bake pies or cakes because it's just too much for the 2 of us.

Hi all! I am so glad this challenge was created!. For the most part I've managed to eliminate sugary snacks from my diet and replaced them with healthy sweet snacks (i.e. fruit, dried fruit, peanut butter, etc). The problem is, even though they're healthy, they're still not healthy when I overeat them, so my goal is to stop the binges...even if they are on grapes :-). Also, all my progress still breaks down when I'm put in a situation where I can't control what types of sweets are around me (i.e. parties). I end up eating an entire plate of cookies and then I feel embarrassed and like I've completely let myself down. I just want to stop these cravings and, more importantly, stop this insane thinking.

Stefanie

Hi, I'm Sue and my biggest issue is regular soda. I can pretty well skip most of the other unhealthy sweet stuff, but put a Coke any where near me and I'm in trouble.

Hi I am Laura. My main addictions are Mt. dew and chocolate ice cream. I am determined to stop with the sweets, especially my Mt. Dew and ice cream. I done so well for about a year, then I went in to this depressive state and started over doing the soda and ice cream. I will take any tips or advice any one has to over come these craving.

Hi! I'm Deb and I'm a sugaraholic emoticon
I love sweets of any kind and it is very difficult to resist them. In fact most times I cannot resist them. Once I start eating them I can't stop and the next thing I know the whole package of cookies is gone. I realized I had a serious problem when I started hiding sweets because I didn't want anyone to see me eating and when when I started lying to family members about where the last of the angel food cake went.

Hi everyone, I am Jan and I love sweets. Not all the times but some time. I do find that if I eat sweets it just turns off my knowing I am full receptors. Anyone else have this trouble?

What did you think of the article, "Control Your Sugar"?

Hi, I'm Melanie and I,too, am a chocoholic. I am also a diabetic who needs to loose weight. I eat pretty healthy except for the daily intake of sweets ;-) Really, fresh foods, balanced, small meals, 6 a day. I want to improve myself to a more healthy lifestyle. After years of being bed and couch bound by Chronic Fatigue Syndrome I am finally having some real and sustained energy. Enough that I have started to walk - am at 3/10ths mile now. So am targeting fitness as well as healthy eating and now I need to also face the music and eat healthy (meaning - GET RID OF THE CHOCOLATE emoticon

Hi I am bear.

I was brought up without sweets because it was a pretty good guess that I would become diabetic. All well and good, I did become diabetic. After an accident I was in I become insulin dependent, because I was laid up for so long. I was told I would never get off insulin. After ten years I did, I weaned myself off insulin last year.

BUT now, when I never did before, think about sweets whether sweet fruits or sweet confections such as nanaimo bars (which is mostly chocolate and I dont even LIKE chocolate!) Sooo...I think the insulin flicked a switch in me and I want to turn it off before I seriously start giving in to it!

Hi! I'm Sue and I just admitted to myself that I am a sweet-aholic. I, like others, thought I had it under control, but realized this morning when I was doing my nutrition tracker that I do have a problem with sweets. My husband and I eat very healthy overall but when that first cookie, M&M's, or mint goes into my mouth it is hard to just quit at one. It happened this morning after breakfast when I loaded an oatmeal raisin cookie into my mouth and told my husband that I would eat the broken ones. Well, it added up to about 3 cookies! Who was I kidding? Certainly not myself. Then I had to put them into my tracker and I felt soooo bad. That's when I decided I need to challenge myself and get into action. I know it's going to be a difficult journey with this one. The support will be greatly appreciated.

Hi! My name is Kath, and sugar is my major downfall when bored or stressed out. I can't eat just one cookie, donut, or piece of cake ... it's eat it all until it's gone, feel bad, and then tell myself I can start again tomorrow. I'm looking for this challenge to help me find healthy substitutes for those sugary items while on my weight loss journey.

I just joined this challenge. With the help of Spark I reached my goal weight 4 years ago next Sunday. Spark helped me completely change the way I eat, but I still have issues with sweets.

I love my sweet treats but tend to go overboard. I need to get it under control. When I first hit goal I was able to control my sweet tooth, for about a year. Then life and stresses got in the way and I turned to sweets for comfort and my sweet tooth has been out of control since.

I have always had a sweet tooth. I am pretty health conscious, and have no problem staying away from fast food, chips, soda and other unhealthy foods, but things like cake and jellybeans bring me to my knees. Sweets always make me feel sick, tired and totally devoid of energy after I consume them, but I still can't get myself to kick the habit. I hope this is something I can change!

Sugar is definitely my downfall so I'm hoping this team will help me kick the sugar habit once and for all :)

I've done well by limiting the amount of sugar I bring into the house but until Starbucks goes out of business (like THAT will ever happen!) I'm in trouble :(

Hi my name is Lacresha. I love sweets almost anything but my favorites are cake, pie, cobblers, and Ice Cream just to name a few. As a child I was allergic to sugar (they put me to sleep) so I wasn't allowed to have them except on special occasions. I had my first candy bar at nine years of age but I'm not really a candy person. I did do the South Beach stage one which takes away all forms of suger even fruit for two weeks and then after that I didn't want anything sweet but I fell off the wagon. I am also a stay at home mom with two kids in school and two are home. I buy cookies and things when company is coming over for serving and for school occasions but always have leftovers that I end up eating. I find myself wanting something sweet every morning so I satisfy that with a dark chocolate protien bar and I'm usually satisfied unless I am tempted by going out. I am the girl who picks the restaraunt based on their dessert menu!!! I'm hoping this challenge will help me learn tricks to outsmart my sweet tooth and lose the weight. I find that for me eating fruit also stirs up my sweet tooth and I love fruit. I could eat it at every meal but the more I eat the more I crave. Anyone else notice that fruity makes them crave more sweets?

Hi my name is Victoria, I'm doing this challenge because I find myself wanting a seriously sweet snack (usually in the form of skittles/chocolate/etc.) at least once a day. And even though I eat right, filling up on fiber foods and protein I tend to cave after a few days of abstinence and then bingeing. I'm hoping this challenge will help me find new ways of dealing with this.

Hi, I'm Leslie and i love chocolate. I'm a single parent to two great teenagers so junk food is abundant at my house.

Hey all! I'm Missy and I am a chocoholic. I think sugar is my favorite food lol, which is bad for all reasons, especially since I'm at risk of being a diabetic. Whenever I think of eating unhealthy, ice cream, or candy are usually my go to things. I'd love to learn new ways of replacing those items, and look forward to doing it with all of you!

My name is Gini, I have two children 18 months and 7 months. Before I got pregnant I rarely ate sweets (they made me sick) but once I got pregnant I craved them and ate them all the time. (that is why I gained so much weight). I have been a stay at home mom since I got pregnant, and with nothing to do I am finding my self snacking alot and it is always the sweet stuff calling my name. I am really wanting to break this, on days I dont eat any sweets I have so much energy and feel good, instead of drowsy and just feeling icky.

Hi, my name is Jessica. I'm a stay at home mom of two small children. I never used to have problems with controlling my sweet intake. But ever since I found myself at home 24/7 with my kids...I have found myself eating more sweet then ever. I really need to break the cycle.

Just wanted to add, when I'm out of the house at a friends or my parents, I DON'T eat sweets at all. I don't understand....

Hi my name is Rebecca. I am pretty good at avoiding sweets at home, but my boss brings in treats every Friday and it is hard to resist. I hope to get some tips on how to avoid giving in!

Hi, I'm Julie. I made it through weight loss with no sugar issues, but for about 4 months now have been really struggling with sweets. This week I've been engaging in nightly jelly bean and cookie eating (ouch!). I need to get back to my happy place where I'm not stressed out and don't need sugar. It was so much healthier and better!

Hi everyone, for sure I have a sugar addiction. Looking forward to tips or ideas to cure the sweet tooth. If only I could have just one piece of anything sweet. Thanks.
