Hi everyone. I am back to SP and it feels so right. I am getting involved with the social aspect this time. Before I worked the program and that was it. I can see now how connecting with others can really make a difference. Looking forward to the "today I won 't,,,today I will" thread.
Have a great day everyone.

Hi.. I'm a new Barb to the group.... and use my crock pot once or twice a week. I have two regular ones and a smalller one.. for Christmas I got the new cuisinart that has a built in browning element and must admit I love it....

I am teaching full time and have many other obligations so even though it is now just my husband and me at home I depend a lot on the crockpot for healthy eating just for us as well as for entertaining.... for the last 15 years I've made jambalaya in the crockpot and taken it to work to celebrate Mardi Gras with my department members.... it's tradition!

I'm looking forward to new ideas. I've been active in SparkPeople for about 15 months, so far have lost about 75 pounds and still have maybe 50 more to lose...

Be a voice, not an echo!

Hi My Name is Cheryl
Joined this team as I love using my crock pot. I have two. One for small things such as dips and drinks. The other one I use for main meals. It is a great time saver especially since my husband and I are sometimes working two different shifts.

I am proud to announce that as of Valentine's Day, I am 100 lbs. lower than I was when I started this journey. Today marks 18 months of working at getting healthier. I couldn't have gotten this far without all the great support I get from my Spark friends. Thank you all.

I have been away from Spark for too long too! I'm glad that I'm not the only one. We have something in common, slipping a bit and comming back, and a great appreciation for the crock pot. That slow low cooking thing can't be beat. I think it takes talent to come up with meals that work in every way. Meals that are cooked to perfection, flavors that are blended but not indistiguishable with textures that hold their own. Lets face it mooshy is a bad thing. So kudos to all of you who have mastered this art in cooking and I look forward to sampling your recipes and sharing my own while we whittle away the unwanted pounds. HI! I have been gone from Spark way too long. My family and friends have started a "Biggest Loser- Family and Friend Edition" SO we are all using different methods- I choose Spark as a tool to help me win. I love my crock pot and try to use it but don't have enough ideas that have different flavors to keep my family happy. Looking forward to new ideas. I love coming home to a dinner already done and the house smells great. I am usually zaped by the end of my day- I work as an instructional assistant at a special needs school. Looking forward to my crock pot meals.

Hi everyone: My name is Denise and I live in PA. I joined Spark a long time ago & decided I needed to come back after being absent for close to one year. I have recently quit my job and now with being home I plan on cooking more healthy meals and I love my crock pot. I don't use it too often because I need some fresh, new meal ideas. I am thrilled to have found this team and can't wait to find some great recipes from everyone.

Thank you all and have a great evening.

emoticon Hi! I am new to the team and fairly new (10 days) to Spark People. I just got a Crockpot in late October, and my husband and I have come to love it already. It took a few times of using it to figure it's peculiarities out, but once we got it done, we use it at least once a week. I'm looking forward to finding new recipes to try and to share any I find from other sources.

My journey begins with one step....and I am taking that step today!

HI! I am Ann. I am nearly 60 years old and live in central Ohio.

I just found this group. I am excited! I only use my crock pot for beans, really. I have an old crock pot for that purpose.

However, I am an extremely busy assistant prosecutor and I teach two or three nights a week at the community college.

I need to find some simple recipes that do not require that I be home to monitor things for upwards of 10 hours.

T Here are only two of us in the household now, so the recipes must be the sort that can serve as left-over lunches. I am SO GLAD that I found this forum.

Hi I'm Courtney,

I'm from Montana and it gets very cold and dark here during this season. I'm looking for a way to serve healthy dinner, prepare it when I'm less likely to eat as I'm cooking, and stay on track with a busy lifestyle. I'm not a great cook, but the crock pot recipes usually turn out well.

I am hopeless in the kitchen. Truly, have been for decades. I currently live in a studio that has no stove or oven (it's super cute! and in a fabulous neighborhood)

I eat out most of my meals, and because of budget, I mostly eat total crap.

I am hoping that a crock pot may be the answer for me.

Hi All!! My name is Beth. I am addicted to my crock pots and I don't see the problem, lol. I own 2 slow cookers that since the weather turned cooler have been going about 2-3 times a week lately. I love to make soups and roasts in the crockpot as well as pulled meats for bbq or mexican type dishes. I recently experimented with a recipe for crockpot chicken and dumplings using refrigerated biscuits that with a little more seasoning would be excellent. I am looking to expand my slow cooker horizons with new and exciting recipes. I work from home but never really go off the clock so the slow cooker is my friend that makes sure my family gets fed on time.

I have used a crock pot for 35 years. I mostly do basic meals- toss in veggies, season, toss in meat season lots more and turn it on high and go to work. I enjoy cooking this way but some new, more exciting meals would be great! I tried the Crock Pot Black Bean and Chicken- very good but my low setting overcooked it and turned it to mush. I threw the mush into tortilla shells and it was delicious still (an idea I got from a comment from someone else). Good luck to other newbies!

Hi! My name's Michelle, & I'm a single woman from the beautiful Fraser Valley in southwestern BC, Canada. I share my home with an adorable ginger cat, & I work straight nights.

I've had my slow cooker for years & I do love it. I've not used it nearly as often as I'd like, but I'm determined to use it a lot more this winter. It's handy for anyone, whether busy people or those with a lot more time, like me. My favourite recipe to make in it is Baked Beans from an old family recipe, & it's very easy to throw together. Another reason I love my crock pot is because things can coak while I have other stuff to do or am sleeping. Then I just have to take a portion for a meal to have at work, or just at home.

I'm quite tired a lot lately - anemia's part of it, as well as working straight nights (it's been over a year now) - & so having a slow cooker's great because it's the prep that takes a while, & then I have a good amount of food for a few days, as well as being able to freeze the stuff that's leftover for future meals.

I'm glad this team is here, & I'm looking forward to getting more recipes & trying new stuff. :)

Blessings,
Michelle :)

Hi, I am Cheri and I just got my crockpot a few weeks ago. Meals have been so much better since I started making them in the crockpot. It saves me time so that I am not scrambling at the end of the day when I am exhausted trying to get a meal together for the whole family. Just love it.

So glad you joined this group. I'm new, too, and I understand that desire to get healthy. I lost 27 lbs in 2010 and was well on my way to achieving my goal, but we had a death in the family and then my husband's job loss. I think I probably turned to stress eating instead without consciously realizing it. So here I am, back at square one, but determined to beat it once and for all.

Happy to meet you!

Hello to all; My name is Mary Kay and this is my 3rd day in joining the spark club. I have so much to lose, about 65 lbs. This will not be my first, second or third time losing weight, but; I do want to achieve healthy weight loss. I am married to a wonderful (slender) husband for almost 18 years this October and he came from a family that had lots of homemade pie, candies, baked goods from a 110 lb. mother. So after I had lost over 100 lbs in 10 months and then met Rob.after a fast courtship 160 miles apart we married 3 1/2 months later; my weight steadily gained back each month as I was encouraged to eat his 'love my wife' foods.. and he loved to feed me rolls, etc. He had a hard time understanding how some people can not eat a bag of chips like him and not gain weight. I mean...his mom was always skinny the sweet dear and sadly she died of cancer at age 61 (and smoking). So I am trying to expand (not grow my waist) my attitude and I do feel that this website may be my turning point. I did in the past belong to TOPS, but I did not feel it had that much information and structure as this. Thank You all.

There will always be a new sunrise tomorrow.

Hi Everyone!
I've been using a crockpot for at least thirty years. My mom used to have a slow cooker that she had a different name for, long before crockpots became the rage. I love the convenience, and isn't it great to be able to throw dinner into the crockpot at 8 a.m. and forget about it? I use my breadmaker to make healthy breads also, and the house smells wonderful all day.
Looking forward to hearing your tips and gaining some new recipes!

Hello everyone.....my name is Jude. My husband & I are fulltime RV'ers and were Washington state natives all our lives. We have 5 kids & 4 Grandkids. We have been to all but 15 of our states and love this lifestyle ...we are in our 5th year of being on the road.

I love to use the crockpot on hot humid days when even BBQ'ing outdoors is miserable, or when we will be out sightseeing all day. I also have a pot that I can use on long travel days. I plug it in in the morning and when we pull off the road in the afternoon dinner is ready. I am so excited to have access to even more recipes on this forum.

I sometimes can't post much if I have no Internet wherever we are, but will try to post some of the recipes I have used and enjoyed over the years.

Jude

Hi! My name is Susan. I am looking forward to learning new recipes for the crock pot. I love to use it but I don't know very many recipes. I tried the salsa chicken recipe from the SP cookbook last night! That was yummy!

Hello, I'm new to the team but, not new to crockpots. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my crockpots. I have several sizes and use them at least once a week. I love recipes that make nice lean meats tender and tasty. The more tender the protein the better and nothing does that like a crockpot. Looking forward to exchanging recipes and trying new ones.

Hi Team! I am new to this team, but have used my Crock Pot off and on for years.

Since joining SP in May, I've also joined a CSA and a SparkTeam to support that effort. I've noticed that using the Crock Pot helps me stay within my Nutrition plan especially on weekends when my DH and I get very busy either around the house or outside in our nearly three acres. Our lifestyle change since SP has to include more home cooking if we are to continue our progress long term.

So long story short, I am looking for new ideas using the Crock Pot that will:
1. Use the fresh veggies I get in my BiWeekly CSA box
2. Be within our daily Nutrition plan
3. Keep me from running to a restaurant when I am tired and "starving."
4. Take me out of the kitchen and allow me to do other activities (like getting in fitness!)
5. Taste great and be healthy!

I look forward to sharing recipes, encouragement, and fun with this team. emoticon

Hello Everyone,

I am relatively new to SP and have been doing lots of reading and tracking while doing my rehab from knee replacement surgery May 14.

I have been a slow cooker/crock pot user since they first came out, and the versatility of the appliance has been enough encouragement for me to keep trying new recipes with it. I'm looking forward to finding healthier recipes, because i don't like spending a long time preparing dinner at dinner time--I'm retired, so I have the time, but I prefer to watch the news!

Hi! I found this team through my Spark buddy 2BUNNYMAMA. I love my Crock Pot and am always looking for new healthy ways to use it. I have participated in 30 day Crock Pot challenges in the past and used mine daily to make everything from bread (worked great!) to yogurt (not so much). I try to cook using whole foods as much as possible, but a lot of Crock Pot recipes use convenience foods so sometimes it's tough to find good recipes. I also have a toddler and a very picky husband! emoticon

Hi, I relocated back to the UK after thirty years overseas and have had to adjust to cooking just for two after nightly preparing meals for eight! The fun part is that, no longer cooking for grandchildren, I get to add more spices and be a little more adventurous with my recipes.
I've been a crockpot owner for over thirty years, buying my first one when my daughter was a baby. CP meant I could toss a meal in the pot pretty much any time she was sleeping for long enough, so that by the time she was at her fussiest (6 p.m.), I could just ladle out the meal to hubby and toddler with her in my arms.
Right now I'm concentrating on getting back to preparing everything from scratch with no jars of sauce or package mixes - to avoid too much added salt and have more control over other ingredients.
The packages of spices in my cupboard are growing in number and it smells wonderful every time I open the door!

Hi - my name is Erin and I am an old, new member (64). We recently moved from a retirement community to being home owners again so I didn't cook for 2 years and now have had to start all over again. I haven't lost my touch but had no kitchen equipment. The first thing I got was 2 slow cookers - one round and one oval (for large cuts of meat). I couldn't survive without them and dh can't swallow well (due to cancer) so really tender foods are required for him. And it's just plain easier - fix it and forget it!

not sure if I ever introduced myself here but I got a new, smaller crockpot today so I'm browsing thru some of this team's postings. I have used and loved a succession of cps for over 30 years. they're great but I need more ideas as roast beef, pulled pork and soups are my standards.

Hello! I'm new here and just started up with SparkPeople. I've used SP before but decided to leave for a while and now I'm back. This is a fantastic site with so many great resources. Happy to be here and looking forward to meeting my goals.

I'm a lover of crock pot cooking. It is so helpful when we have busy days and want a healthy meal, not just a convenient one. My current "crock" is nearly worn out and I just purchased a new one. Can't go too long without using it...LOL!

I'm really looking forward to checking out some recipes, variety is something we need in my family. They get bored eating the same old recipes all the time. Who can blame them? Any suggestions would be great.
