I know what you mean about rice. I haven't experimented but I have found a couple recipes I'm going to try.

Hello! I just signed up with SparkPeople to continue my weightloss journey. I've lost 100 pounds and have set a goal for another 50.
I love using my crockpot! I only have one now, but I want to get one bigger one to cook turkey breasts and a smaller one for sauces and the like. I use the crockpot at least 3 times a week.
My crockpot goals include being able to cook rice in the darned thing! I've never had success with that.

Hi Y'all! I'm the "chef" in the house...ok, maybe the short order cook. But I want to cook healthy and smart. The crock is your friend! I want to master it and do as much as I can. I just joined SP in Oct but I hit the ground running. So, help a brother out, and show me the way to fine crock pot cookin'!

, I am Sandy, I live in New Mexico and I have been sparking for a year now. I recently came across this team and decided hey why not. I need to use my CP more, and hopefully get a new one for Christmas. My old one doesn't really have good controls and wants to boil over alot. I love keeping things simple-including cooking, but have trouble finding good for you recipes.

Hi, everyone! I joined SP about a week ago and was really happy to find this team! For years I cooked in one of those old-style vertical crockpots but I just recently bought myself a brand new oval 7-quart pot and I love it! Now that the weather is getting cooler I can't wait to make lots of crockpot meals. I'm married with two teenagers and my husband and daughter have a lot of food allergies so dinner is a bit of a challenge here, but I'm really looking forward to sharing recipes and tips with all of you!

Hi, I've been a member of this group for a couple of week's now. Been a member of Spark People for almost a year, but am much more committed to a healthier lifestyle since my last visit to the doctor. I'm a die-hard crockpot fan. One of my most treasured wedding gifts (30+ years ago) was a crockpot given to us by my sister-in-law. I'm loving reading everyone's recipes and blogs.

Does your crockpot pot have a warming button? When mine is done cooking it goes to warmer. I love the feature. I have a few recipes. Maybe we can share. My family favorite is meatball stew. I get turkey meatballs from Aldis. I spray my crockpot, put the meatballs in ( I use 2 pacakges family of 4 with others showing up), make 4 cups of gravy with 5 cups of water, throw in some mixed veggies and let cook all day. When we are ready to eat we like to put it over egg noodles, but rice is good also. Hope you like it.

Hello All, I am so glad I found this group. I've been signed up with SparkPeople for about a year and half and seriously fell away about 6 months ago. Time to get back on track. One of the hardest things is my life got very busy and eating fast food is so much easier than figuring out what's for dinner!
I love using my crockpot to feed my family (5 of us), but I'm not what you would call a "creative" cook. I only cook with recipes and not very good with substitutions. It's a shame! I'm working on it...
Anyway, here's my current dilemma. I leave my house for work at 5:30am, and frequently don't return home until 6pm. Therefore, I need recipes that can cook for about 12 hours or so. I'm hoping to find some on the message board, but if you have the PERFECT recipe for me please send me sparkmail! (The good news is my family will eat just about anything!)
Looking forward to improving my cooking, as well as making some new friends!
Have a SUPER wonderful day! Tracie

Hi, I'm from Vermont and have had a crock pot since the 1970's. Unfortunately, I hardly ever use it, so I'm eager to find new recipes that are very healthy but also taste good. I get Stephanie's emails and have tried a few of those recipes. Her Creamy Italian Chicken is superb, best dish I ever made in the crock pot. Susan

My daughter gave me a crock pot for Christmas a couple of years ago. I broke the stoneware liner things - put it on the stove to dry and then thought I had put the burner on to boil water for a cup of tea...no such luck...heard a LOUD boom - the liner cracked....just got a new one at JCP's - it was on sale for $19.99!! Made a delish chicken with veggies on Sunday! Great for lunch at work!!

Hi everyone. My husband has always been the cook between the two of us - yes, I know I'm blessed to have that - but I do want to learn to cook more and do so more often. I work full time and he has an always changing schedule so it can be a bit chaotic at times. We also have a toddler and pray we might be blessed with another.
I had already been wanting to cook more but especially since I've re-committed my relationship with Jesus I am on a mission to change things and do things that are pleasing to Him. For me, this includes being a better wife and mother and part of that is making sure my family eats healthy.
My goal with this team is to learn healthy yet satisfying recipes that keep me on track with my calories and weight loss goals but also please the hubby and our son.
Looking forward to being part of the team!
Blessings to you!

Hi everyone! I just found this team today and decided to join. I live in a suburb of Denver in Colorado. My crock pot goes for months without use but I think winter is the perfect time to use it.
This week I pulled it out (I have a really big one) and made this 21 bean soup mix that my hubby found at whole foods with my ham bone (leftover from Xmas dinner) in it. The soup/beans/ham bits were all DE-lish and it was SO easy.
I look forward to learning from all of you some new, yummy and healthy recipes!!

I wanted it because my old one was great, but in the summer I'm away from home for longer than most recipes require, and many things got burned on the bottom since it couldn't be turned to warm. I'm hoping this does the trick. Can't wait to try some of these recipes!!!

I saw this group on someone else's page also and said hurray! I have 2 at home - 10 yro son and 15 yro daughter. Son has his favorites - so I am hoping I can find good for us recipes that all of us will enjoy.
That chocolate cake recipe looks great - how many servings is it.
Also - would like to have that yummy pork roast recipe.
Okay - time to really start my day!

Hi all. Got my first Rival Crockpot in 1989 and bought the recipe book, meat rack and cake tin all at the same time. I have never used it steadily though. Used it a lot for taking pot luck selections to church and work to keep things hot on the buffet table, but not every day or every week for home use. Recently got one of the oval pots with a TIMER! which makes all the difference. It turns itself off cooking and onto keep warm when the cycle you set is over. This way, no mushy meals. I set it at 7am when I leave for work and supper is ready at 5:30pm when I get home. This is putting the squash on "take out" meals on the way home. Love it! Need more recipes. Here I am. :)
