Hi, I'm Tonya. I've also been working on this for a long time. It's kinda 3 steps forward 2 steps back... I joined in April of 2012. My weight has always been a yo-yo. I hate exercise, so I really have to make myself do it. I do best if I make myself form a habit, then do it 7 days a week so I can't make excuses. Back in 2003 my doctor told me I had to lose weight, start to exercise, get my blood pressure and triglycerides under control. He asked me if I wanted to die, and said if not, I had to start working on it. The crazy thing is my weight didn't really sound that bad. I worked really hard and lost about 40 pounds in a year and a half. I formed good exercise and diet habits, then we moved and my routine changed and it all came back.

So I started again in 2009. That time I lost 15 - 20 # but was very happy with my size and how I felt. My regular tests at the doctor were coming back good. Then I'm not sure what happened! But I gained most of it back. So when I joined Spark people in 2012, I started again. I never reached my goal, but came a long way. I formed healthy habits, was eating well, doing a regular workout routine, and was pleased with my tests at the doctor. Then on labor day, I was in an ATV accident. I cracked 3 ribs, got stitches in my hand, and fractured my knee. I was "Non-weight-bearing" for 12 weeks, then had to wean myself off the crutches. That pretty much took me to mid-December. That was so discouraging. I had to just sit and wait. of course my weight went back up because I had NO physical activity. Not even my normal busy lifestyle where I'm always on the go. So I planned to resume my workout schedule after the first of the year...it's a good time to start something, right?

Well, I tried, and couldn't even do my "walk away the pounds" without causing significant pain and soreness... not the sore muscle kind. So my husband has purchased an elliptical for me and I'm trying with that. The first day I did 10 minutes and I thought I was going to die. I couldn't believe how out of shape I'd become. The next day I did 15 minutes on the lowest settings. That worked. This week my goal is to do 15 minutes each of 5 days. I'll see how that goes and adjust from there. I've already begun to journal all that I eat. I couldn't believe how much food I'd been consuming and calling it normal! So last week I lost a couple pounds without even exercising. Eating reasonably will be a challenge to get back in the habit of, but I'll do it!

Hello, Sorry my reply took so long, always hectic around my house and I don't get back to my spark team stuff as much as I would like. I am lucky to track or blog. I added you as a Spark Friend. Would love to get to know you better. I think it really helps us on our journey to know we aren't alone. I have accepted finally this is going to be a slow journey for me, not a over night fix which attributed to a lot of my past failures. Each thing I do positive I call my baby steps..take enough of them and I will reach my goal :). I finally realize I don't have to try to be perfect..I just have to try. Feel free to stop by my page and leave me a message.

Hello my name is Jeannie, long ago I joined Sparkpeople. Well I am back here again trying to lose weight, this time with even more to lose and a even more reason to lose it as my doctor has told me I am not just overweight I am overweight enough it is affecting my overall health in very negative ways. I lost around 40lbs last attempt, sadly I gained that back plus almost 40 more. I can't promise I won't fail again but I am determined to at least try to get this weight off me. I have plenty of love and support from my family. I know if I put enough faith in myself I can do this. Looking forward to getting to know others and perhaps make some new friends. emoticon
