I am joining Go the Distance this evening, and would like to take moment to introduce myself. I am a special needs teacher in Wisconsin. I have been severely overweight since I had my children. I managed to drop my weight done to 200, but struggle to get into the hundreds, and usually gain weight during winter. I am most successful with long distance walking, magnetic pedaling (arms), and using my recumbent bicycle. I am hoping to increase my fitness level and taking my cycling outside. I used to be more athletic when I was younger. I walked up to seven miles a day, rode my bike several miles every day or so, and played softball. I experienced a few cycling accidents and some falls, and as a result reduced what I was doing to maintain my weight. After I injured my knee in 2013, my doctor told me to try riding a bike. I am attempting to build to that fitness level, but I am walking for now. I am happy that I made it up to 3 miles. I know I need to do much more, and I am okay with small steps for now. I am hoping to reach my cycling goal within the next few months. I came to this team to find motivation.
