Hi Pink pearl,
On the main page for TSD is a thread titled reboot.
That is great that your BS is low enough that you can decrease your insulin dose!
I'll see ya there,

Joan

Good evening. Finished my first day. Did ok but not clean. It's a work in progress. Numbers really low that's part of the not feelings well. Numbers under 100. The book said that could happen. Readjusted my insulin cut it in half. Iceberg lettuce is low in vit K.
What is Reboot? I'll check in tomorrow. Not very good at sharing.

Hi Pink Pearl,
I am new to TSD, too. I started on Monday, July 15. I have been following it to a T and know if I continue to do so I'll be very successful.
What side effects are you feeling? This diet is low carb. What vegetables other than lettuce do you need to avoid due to the coumadin that you take? I always feel that I have the hardest time during the first 3 days of any new diet.

I have been checking in daily under "Reboot." Come chat w/ us there!

Joan

Good morning from Calif. Today is day 1st day of The Simple Diet. So far not feeling my best side effects already kicked in. emoticon I'm Diabetic and had heart surgery about six years old. Had a value replaced. I take warfarin which limits my choices in the types of vegetables I can eat. And I am very carb sensitive which limits the fruit. emoticon I was on a low carb diet and lost 26lbs in six months. Then came the holidays and I plateau. I've been on a binge for a few weeks. Yesterday was the worst day. Today is new beginning. I am hopeful. emoticon . I will be accountable to this group. I promise to post everyday.

Yes, I am starting before my book gets here...just could not wait.
Question;
Are beans allowed? Not green beans, but regular dried beans?
This is important because they were in my chili today????

Today was the first day I've been hungry most of the day. Wish I'd had a bar handy, but I'm not wanting to use the bars on this diet. Most of the are chocolate anyway. (if you don't already know, I'm allergic) I'd rather have carrots as my snacks.

Trying to think of a way to add some protein to a salad at work without ruining the diet. Any ideas?

I agree about eating something every 3 1/2 to 4 hours. I always have a mid-morning snack and late afternoon snack. If I'm dreaming of the snack machine I tell myself to try that baggie of carrots first and I'm always surprised at how satisfied I am. I always have baby carrots, cucumbers, and some type of easy to eat fruit in my lunch box. If I'm craving a dessert with lunch I eat a handful of strawberries instead of a candybar. For me, it's a mind game. I'm not always perfect, but it's surprising how good the healthy items can be. I always hated strawberries and now I look forward to having them! If I really want something chocolate I have a creamy milk chocolate shake (Equate brand).

If you plan on having something to eat about every 4 hours that should help control the snacking. I find that having small meals more frequently really does help. I use to be a mindless snacker especially at work.

Now I have fruit & veggies in my lunch bag so if I get the munchies I have a healthy on plan option available.

Still trying. Old habits are hard to break and I still want to snack. I will do this. It's too easy to fail at, so I just need to keep pushing and stick with it!

@ Ellie I know and understand. I've been doing the same thing. I am trying to change my mindset. It has been a challenge, but it is surely getting easier. Hang in there.

@Sandi, that's awesome!!! Congrats!

I read this the other day and really thinks it fits this plan.

Forget mistakes.
Forget failure.
Forget everything
except what you are going
to do now and do it.
---Will Durrant

I over think, over analyze, and compare it with other plans. This is a new approach and so simple. I am so used to planning, plotting and worrying, that it is hard to relax and let it work itself. Let go of all the old rules.

emoticon Sanditop and Sheilad1963, our spark family is glad you joined us. Huntress is our co-leader and a great one for advise as are others that have been on here longer. I have been doing this about 2 months and down 11.5 so I like several others know it does work.

My only other advise at this moment is to maybe go back and read some of the other threads that we have had going and that will also help. When I joined reading things that had been said and suggested helped me a lot during the first few days. It really is an easy plan to follow. I do not even feel I am on a diet and I love how quickly my meals are ready.

Just remember if you need us we are here for you.

Thank you. Yesterday wasn't so great, we worked outside a lot and I didn't eat hardly anything! I know that's about as bad as over eating.

I've lost before and am hoping this will be a kickstart to losing most of the rest!

Today is my first day on the simple diet. I read about it in Woman's World and went to Barnes and Noble yesterday and bought the book.

I think this is something I can do.

I had a Greek Yogurt with Granola for breakfast and stocked up on entrees and shakes yesterday. Fruits and veggies are no problem, I always have those in the freezer or cupboard, or fresh in the fridge.

This is a restart for me, so I hope it works!

Brightest Blessings!

emoticon Sandi.

The Simple Diet is just that Simple. If you find that you are hungry remember that you can always have an extra shake or entree so that you do not go off plan. Also something relatively new is that you can substitute greek yogurt for a shake (use the same guidelines as the shake)

If you have any questions just ask.

Also if you have not started your Spark page yet when you do please either friend those of us here in the team or make it public. I find blogging to be very cathartic (I blog every day & log all my food)

Again welcome to the team.

Welcome to the Simple Diet Family. We're here to help each other. As difficult as it may seem on some days, make sure you get your 3 shakes, 2 entrees and 5 fruits/vegetables in.

You will love how simple this is to other plans. Keep it simple! emoticon

Good going SANDITOP. I have been doing the plan for almost 2 months now. I love how easy it is to prepare a meal and always have everything on hand with planning ahead at the grocery store. I buy at least a week ahead then there are no excuses to stray. Good luck for the first days. I was amazed at how satisfied I was, thinking about what I was going to have rather than dwelling on what I couldn't have. It is really a whole new attitude. I have heard many times on this forum "to forget all the old diet ideas and go by the book". I only weigh on the first of the month, but I did lose 10 lbs. in Feb.

Just hang in there for the long haul. I think of this as a marathon we're all on together. Some of us are farther than others but we all support and pull each other along especially on those "not so feeling it" days!
