I'm 66 and on thyroid and cholesterol meds. I lost 46lbs. with WW Points Plus Online then stopped. Got bored and tired of counting points and doing a lot of cooking. Over the last few months, I've gained 13lbs. Having been through this before, I knew it was time to start paying attention to what I was eating or risk gaining back what I'd lost. I was looking for something besides WW and read an article about TSD and decided to try it starting last Monday. It's easier than counting points. Still haven't found the book so may have to order online. I'm glad to be part of a group following TSD.

Welcome OKIRISHCHIK,
I've only been on it a week and have lost 3lbs already. I know it works and if I can stick to it, I'll get to my goal. I wish you much success on this. emoticon

After seeing so many weight loss stories come through my Facebook feed about this book I decided to spend the $10 to download it on my iPad.

I have PCOS and have been struggling to lose.

This plan reminds me of Wonderslim & Medifast only without the prepared meal.

I am going to be planning and making my grocery list . I think I will start Monday.

This is the first group I have been able to find so I look forward to seeing how people have done & are doing.

Hi Everyone,

My name is MaryAnn and I am starting on TSD tomorrow, Monday. I read about the plan, like so many others, in WW. I haven't bought the book, as yet, am going at it by the article from the mag. I did my shopping today and hope I will like what I've bought. Fingers crossed.

I have a real problem making the right food choices so I am hoping having the choices basically made for me, will be the answer.

I'm 54 and getting too darn old to be lugging all this extra weight around. Hopefully this will help get me back to where I want to be. I'm wishing all of you much success and if you have any pointers for me, they will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, Denise. Check out Oxycise. There's no impact and the oxygen intake really enhances fat burning and muscle building. The team for it here is Breathing for Health. The web site is www.oxycise.com/ Look at the 100s of success stories! Blows you away! $35 + S+H is waaay cheaper than a gym, or home equipment to hang clothes on! LOL The trick is to really spend a week on the intro disc learning the breath pattern before trying any of the isometric-type positions. And consistency does build muscle and decrease weight.

Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as you ever can"- John Wesle

Hi, my name is Denise and I hope this is my final diet! I think this will be easier to do as there is just my husband and me home now that our son is in college, so hardly any more cooking dinners! I also am on Body by Visalus and need to show people how easy it is to lose weight on this plan so that I may encourage others. I do feel so much better eating healthier, but realize that I need to do some sort of exercise as the scale is not moving but inches are. I need to find support from others and encouragement as there is hardly nothing out there on the web on The Simple Diet. Others testimonials encourage greatly because if they can do it, I CAN!!

Choose your thoughts carefully .. you are a masterpiece of your life.

My name is Sharon and I am 56 years old and I am on second week of simple diet and last week I lost 6 lbs and been on so many different plans and lost most of my weight with 6 wbmo and find it too restrictive for me to stay with it so every couple of weeks am trying out new plan, have lost over 100 lbs and have gain some back and now am struggling to lose the last 30- 35 lbs to get to my goal. I would of reach my goal last Oct. if I didn't lose and regain the same lbs over and over again and am hoping that by this Oct. I will reach my goal. Hoping to hear every one success with this plan.

Maybe you haven't reached all your goals yet-but who has? And maybe you've made a few mistakes along the way-but who hasn't? You have every reason to feel proud of who you are. Notice your triumphs, big and small. There are so many.

I think I can do this. I visited the sites mentioned on the team posts and I have it
written down where I can start at least.

Thanks for the welcome. I have been on the Simple Diet for 6 days now and have been doing pretty good I feel. We'll find out Sunday!

I have a question. Is there way on Spark to track in the way Dr. A recommends. I am not the best tracker in the world (did WW and tracking was my downfall) and I find his way of tracking very doable for me.

Oops I missed some posts in this thread..

Jules welcome to the group about time you made it...I love seeing your progress you are doing great.

Sharon & Janet ~ it is great to have you hear as well. I along with others have put a lot of information out in the different sections of this group forum. If you have a question post on one of those threads if applicable or start a new thread if not.

Remember to keep it simple and it will work. Don't over think it.

Regarding motivation...for me I am motivated to feel better than I have in years. I am at my lowest weight in nearly 5 years and shooting for even lower than that. I am gonna rock my 40's with my sexy self (inner child is rocking just need to match her on the outside)

Hi team,
My name is Janet and new to this team.
I am new at posting so forgive me if I post this more than once. I already made a mistake and started a new topic by mistake and don't know how to delete it. So again forgive me for my blunders.

As I said my name is Janet, I am 54, and single. I lost over 100 pounds twice in the last 12 years( once in 2002 and then again in 2006.)Both times I regained about 3/4 of the weight back by going back to my old habits. My biggest problem is sugar! A buddy from another site told me about the Simple Diet and I bought the book and can relate to it. I used shakes the first time I lost the 100 pounds in 2002....started to eat other foods and then got off track and regained 70 pounds back. So far I have read about half the book and am excited to start this plan because it gives you other foods to help you from cheating and getting off track. Looking forward to hearing from others of their success and tricks of the diet. Glad to be here!

Julie,

Welcome to the group!!!

Congrats on the 7 lb. loss!!! Excellent!!!

As for exercise, would you be able to ride a stationary bike? I'm just wondering if that might be easy on your knees, but also help to strengthen them. If not that, what about swimming, or aerobic swimming classes at the local YMCA? The aerobic swimming classes we have here are very knee friendly. Plus, swimming is a HUGE calorie burner!

Hello,
My name is Sharon, I just started the Simple Diet this week. This one seems to be the one that most reflects how i already eat (sans the sweets and fast food!) i am still trying to get creative with vegies and learn the extra things i could add that would not derail me. I have struggled with my weight my entire life. in 2003 i had gastric bypass and lost 100 lbs. in the past two years i have noticed my weight slowly creeping up. I have gained over 35 lbs back! Its time to put a stop to that! I have NO intention of getting big again. Glad there is a support group for this diet. Any advice is very welcome!

Hi there....I'm Jules or Julie....I'm here because of ndhuntress's fantastic results. She's proving that The Simple Diet works. I started on April 9th and as of this morning, have lost 7lbs. I can be an impatient person and 7 lbs didn't sound like alot but then it's 7lbs that will never come back. I need to do the weight loss thing smart....so it's stays off.

My big downfall is exercise.....bad knees and no motivation. Any ideas?

Welcome Sara!
I am also easing into it too. It is the first diet that I can really stick with.
I feel like we have all the benefits of the fancy diet programs, without the extra cost.
The more you read the book, the more the concepts sink in. It is a journey and a
learning process. This is a great team! Focus on the book and the plan.

Hello Team,
I'm Sara. I'm a second grade teacher in Mesa, AZ. I was about to spend a lot of money on Medifast in an effort to finally lose weight once and for all. I went to Fargo to visit my brother and now sis-in-law to be and celebrate their engagement. She told me about SD and I had purchased, downloaded, and skimmed most of the book by the time I landed back in Phoenix this past weekend. I'm excited to know that there's a plan out there that fits my fast-pace, single lifestyle and that it's good for me! This the first time I've ever felt like I could follow the guidelines without feeling defeated before I even begin. I have been easing myself into the SD components this week by consuming the shakes and eating entree's for lunch. I will start full-fledge on Monday, April 16th. My goal is to lose 50 lbs by Nov. 16th, my brother's wedding day. I was so excited to find a team of supporters on here, and I appreciate any beginner tips I can get. Thanks!

I'm not very good with the numbers game of SD. There are a few ladies in the group who will be able to help you with the questions you asked. Any advice I give on that subject would be sure to confuse the both of us. lol

Good luck!!

Welcome new SD members! I hope you all find the new lifestyle welcoming. I was on 6WBMO too and lost 50lbs to regain half of it back. I think SD is successful because you are eating things you would normally eat without having to worry about sodium/sugar intake as with 6WBMO and most of all, you do not have to measure or count things. Man, was that a headache. The SD is really simple and user, on-the-go friendly. I love how my meals are already calculated out for me, pop in the microwave and eat :)

My caloric intake is between 1,200-1,550 according to Spark based on the date I have chosen to lose 50lbs by. I never go over 1,400 calories, still have lost 8lbs to count and my TOM is here. I exercise a lot like most of us but too low of a caloric intake will mess with your weight loss, at least from what Spark says so I do keep that in mind!

I wish you ALL much success in your marathon and skinny dreams each night :)

emoticon

I can simplify my life and lighten my burdens by deciding realistically what I want to do and what I have time to do. (~_^)

I need to formally introduce myself, my name is Tammie and I am 40 something. I found the Simple Diet when I stumbled upon a thread in another forum I visit and it caught my attention. I have done the 6WBMO too...and lost 30 pounds (regained) but it is just too limiting...I want to eat! Recently I have tried the Durkin, but again it is just too limiting...so I have been toying around with NutriSystem, when I found SimpleDiet..,.just was I was looking for.,..I can eat things I enjoy...in fact I have eaten so much in the last couple of days that I am amazed that the scale shows already a 3 pound loss (know it is water weight and that time of the month).

Right now I am struggling I am averaging 1300-1400 calories a day (with the basic no addition meals, shakes or bars) and when I look at the chart in the Simple Diet book...the average is 1100-1200 so I am wondering where I am going wrong

Also, the carb count is scaring me, although when I track in sparkpeople I am well within the day allowed amount...I guess going from the mindset of NO CARBS to having CARBS seeing any number being tracked scares me!

On a great note, I think this diet is something that is totally do-able and I am not feeling cheated...normally by day 3 I would be looking for the forbidden food..but I know nothing is really forbidden...I can have a chocolate bar...just make it a bar within the amounts allowed...or have a shake...my sweet tooth is so happy!

Crimson ~ Welcome to our group!

I, too, did the 6WBMO! I lost 30 pounds in 6 weeks! However, then I had to have 2 surgeries and after that, I have not only gained that back, but have gained so much more!!! Also, I was ready to stop that because I was feeling sluggish from washing all the sodium out of my body and I was hungry CONSTANTLY! I hated that feeling, but it worked, so I did it as long as I could. I was getting ready to start that again when I found The Simple Diet!

I am soooo happy I found The Simple Diet, too!

My biggest problem starting it was over-thinking everything. Don't over-think anything at all! It really is SIMPLE!!

If you have questions along the way, that's what the rest of us are here for.... and you can browse through the forums to give you much more info!!

Hello all!

I haven't officially started the diet because I do not have the book but I did want to introduce myself to you all. This plan was recommended to me by my weightloss buddy. Since I am currently in a rut, I decided that I would give it a try.

My name is Charmyka. I am a 36 year-old mother of a 16 year old daughter. I have been fighting the battle of the bulge for quite a few years. I lost 50 lbs over the course of 18 months. At the time I was following the 6WBMO off and on. Sadly, I have regained the majority of the weight I loss but I am determined to get back to where I was and then some. I am hoping that this plan will help to get me where I need to be.

If there are any tips and suggestions that you all can share with me while I wait for my book t arrive, please feel free to do so,

Is there anyway to get the WW article. Someone mentioned the plan to me and I went out and bought the book...but I would love to see the article. Day 2...and I feel like I have eaten so much...this can't be a diet! Even having trouble getting in 1 more shake today...but since I found out I can use greek yogurt I can do it!

I also learned about this plan from the WW article, and am reading the book right now.

I am beginning today. I have signed up for a walking class to walk a half marathon in July and that began last week. I have been thinking about the Simple Diet since reading about it in WW. Got the book and think that this just might be the ticket. Looking forward to having more energy and being a healthy Granny.

Jenny, so far, for meals I'm find Walmart to be the cheapest. For shakes, Target is the cheapest for the EAS brand that I purchase.

However, that's in my area. You might have to just hop around to grocery stores in your area to see what the prices are and compare them.

Also, always keep an eye out for coupons and feel free to email any company that makes the shakes or entree and ask them for coupons too! I did that recently and they sent me four $1.00 off coupons for shakes.

Welcome to the group! Can't wait to read your posts about getting rid of those nasty pounds! emoticon

I'm a newbie beginning today and am looking forward to losing a lot of weight and getting healthy. I'm nuking the Salisbury steak (Banquet) dinner now for lunch. Any advice on budget priced dinners and protein powder would be appreciated.

I also came across this book while reading WW. I have been on it now for three days and haven't been this excited about a weight program before. It's so easy! It truly lives up to its' name. The hardest part I'm finding is remembering to drink water. I have been feeling full and satisfied.

Hi! I'm new to the team. Today is day 3 on the Simple Diet. I bought the book a week ago, read through it and decided to start on Friday, since I have trouble sticking to a diet on weekends. I wanted to tackle it head on. So far, so good.

I bought some Healthy Choice, since they were on sale. This week, Smart Ones are on sale, so I'll go stock up on those.

I have about 70 pounds to lose. I'm really enjoying this and I love making different flavor shakes and smoothies. My son works at a store that sells high end exercise equipment and supplements, so he got a discount on the whey protein powder. It meets the guidelines and has an excellent flavor. I just add spinach, fruit and water.

I found the book by reading the WW article as well! I'm thrilled to be starting this with all of you!!

Goldfishgirly...and everyone else: I've been researching prices and brands of the ready-made shakes.

So far, I've found Equate at walmart to be the cheapest. I haven't tried it yet though, so I don't know if the taste is good or not.

My favorite is the EAS brand. Both in the ready-made AND powder! To me, they taste like a milkshake. For the powdered, I use water to mix and they're awesome! I'm allergic to milk, so I bet for those of you who use milk, they'd be even better. Plus, there is no aftertaste.

I just bought a case at Sam's for $1.15 per shake. (ready-made)
Walmart sells them in 4-packs for $4.97 and Target was about 10 cents cheaper!

For powdered, Walmart's got a better deal for 1.3 pounds at $9.92 as opposed to Target's 2 pounds for $19.99.

This is in my area though. Prices may be different where you live.

Just started yesterday. I bought Muscle Milk because it matched the criteria for a shake but with low sugar but it tastes like poison! Promptly went out and bought Slimfast which is much better. This Diet seemed to be made for me. I never cook and am always on the go so my chances of success are much higher. I have about 60 pounds to lose. The weather is getting better and with daylight savings around the corner, I will be able to walk outside after work instead of being stuck in the gym. I am glad there is a group for support!!

Welcome Elliebell68 to the wonderful Simple Diet group and Sparkpeople. I also found the diet in Woman's World and followed up with my doctor and she gave it a go girl! I have been on three weeks with one of those being really off plan. I am a 65 yr. old diabetic with 3 grown children and six grandchildren. My husband has been very supportive and has joined me on this journey. (he cheats a little) I still have a little trouble with the website, but just keep looking around and it will get easier. Good luck to you and so happy you have joined us on this journey!

I found the plan in WW's magazine just minutes before I was going to order an expensive month's plan similar to this. The Simple diet is perfect for me in a wheelchair and husband does most of the cooking. It is so SIMPLE. We have a Walmart in our little town and also a Lean Cuisine Stouffers plant and outlet. Easy access and shopping and meals. I have been on plan since Jan. 29. I love the food and make delicioous shakes with the Equate Shakes and frozen fruit. I love the chocolate shake heated in the morning for breakfast. I am 69 years old and sedentary. Other than walking I have good health and a happy life. This plan was made for me. Would love to hear others ideas, menu's and successes. I just had my 50th anniversary. I have 5 grown children, 10 grandchildren, and one great grandaughter. I am new to computers and don't know how to use Sparkpeople very well , learn more each day. This is my first reply. Thanks

First off I would like to welcome all of our members to the team. I know many of you found the plan by reading Women's World magazine. Please take the time to introduce yourselves. We are a nice group and growing daily.
