Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, or constipation can happen when first starting The Simple Diet. These should get better in a few weeks as your body adjusts to the diet. Be sure you drink enough fluid. Dr. Anderson suggests that if you do have a problem with constipation, use one dose of psyllium (which is Metamucil), once or twice daily as needed. The first couple of weeks are the hardest. The suggestion by Deji is a great one. The crystal lite and Great Valu drink mixes are a great alternative. It will get easier.

Hi Kathy, Had the same problem first week. It doesn't HAVE to be plain water. Book says non-caloric drinks. I hate plain water, so I do mix stuff in mine, or have iced tea. I try to get at least 32 oz of plain water, but that's about all I can gag down. Try crystal light, or the walmart brands to give flavor, or maybe a slice of lemon or lime. Good luck

Hi, my name is Kathy. I'm 40 years old and have been overweight my whole life. I started the simple diet and so far so good except the water... I can't seem to drink enough and my body is acting strange. I lost 6 Lbs, but am not as regular as I was before (if you know what I mean) and I feel a little bloated. I'm trying to drink more water hoping that'll work! I really want this to work for me!!!!
