Re-introducing myself to those that don't know me...

I'm a 57 year old woman that has a total of 83 lbs to lose to reach a decent weight where I can possibly get off of blood pressure pills and also not hurt so much from RA of the spine. I've been told by my doctor that the less extra weight I'm carrying the less stress there will be on my joints. I don't expect to lose it fast. It took me 8 years to put on all the weight. My goal is to drop 2-4 lbs every month and keep it off til I reach my 83 lb goal.
I am married to Bob and he's just had to get a pacemaker/defibrullator in March 2013, and is still adjusting to having a very weak heart (20% heart strength), so I tend to stress over his health a lot, and when I'm stressing out, I tend to eat more than I should. So I will be working on making healthier food choices over time.

Hi! I have a friend who goes way over the top when entertaining. Tons of food is available. And I usually eat as much as I can of it! I'll be eating there Friday night, but I have decided that after that I will not eat there until I've lost this weight. They will have to come to me, and then I will be in control of the food! I'm starting a streak for it! And I will check in on this team each week to confirm that my mission has been accomplished for another 7 days.

Hi! I'm 61, divorced, a retired RN and in trouble. I'm getting a bit frantic about my weight situation. About 1 1/2 years ago I became ill and was diagnosed with gastroparesis. Because of this there are only a few fruits and vegetables I can eat. I lost 65 pounds (needed to loose about 125 pounds at that time) and decided the illness was a pain but also a "gift from God" because I was finally loosing weight. My symptoms are fairly stable and I am getting my food cravings back. I used to eat a huge salad at craving times because I love salads. Now I can't have salads or much of anything with fiber in it. So my cravings for sugar, salt, and crunchy have run amuck. I've gained back almost 20 pounds in a very short time. I want to lose, not gain. I need help, I can't seem to do this by myself. I don't know how I'll get this under control. I'm thankful to have found Sparkpeople and this group. Maybe there is hope for weight loss?

HIgh I' a 57 wife, mother of 3 grown daughters and 7 grandchildren. I have been on Sparkpeople for a few years. Last year I started a new page but still didn't get started I finallly got busy again on Nov 7th my husbands birthday. I don't know what's differant this time but I seem to be getting it better. I also am a soda drinker what I have started doing is I allow myself 1 diet coke a day and the rest of the day it's water. No the sweets that's another story all together. I made a lemon merinque pie for Easter and ate 2 pieces.

Hi! I'm Kim

I am 46, mother of 2 grown kids and have 1 beautiful grand-daughter! I joined Spark a year or so ago, but never got going with it. I am wanting to lose 15-20 lbs or so just so I can tone up some more. I lost 13" last summer (only 3lbs!) and figure I am probably as slim as I am going to get without losing some weight! I have a workout buddy here that I cross train with ( I hate the smelly gym, so we workout outside; wind, cold, heat, doesn't matter! Still better than the gym! Lol) Also just purchased a home gym to use at home. Had to stop exercising a week ago, due to a hernia surgery, and have to wait to be released from the Dr. To do much more than walking....driving me nuts! Figure this is a great time to focus on my diet! More protein, less sugar.

Hi I'am new to the team. I find it so hard to give upsoda, i gave up so many things, but the snacks omg so hard.
theres some stuff that i can' teat or drink for example (grapefruit juice, cranberry juice, vitamin K anything green) I'am on blood thinner

Hey, I am a Pepsi addict. Sometimes I can drink 6-8 cans a day. I drink it like I should be drinking water. And my goal right now is to drink 2 glasses of water between each pepsi. Start small right.. :) Tried cold turkey before and didn't work lol :p

I have about 95 lbs to lose to reach my goal but am working on 5 lbs at a time. It sounds like losing 5 lbs is a lot more manageable than saying I need to lose 95 lbs. I lose weight very slowly and I yo-yo a lot, but I really want this weight off.
I've tried a number of different plans but I think for me it's a matter of cutting calories but making the most of what calories I do allow myself. So I'm trying to eat more fresh produce and fruits, and limiting all the junk foods. I do eat meat but am working to cut out a good portion of that and limit it to mainly fish and chicken.
My exercise is sporatic at the best. I'll go days and not do much then for a week or two go crazy with activities that are considered exercise. I need to get more into a regular routine of daily exercise that I enjoy doing.

Hello
I'm new to the team. For a long time, I was doing really well, then something happened. I'm not sure what. Tried to pinpoint the problem, but no success. I got lazy, and started giving in to temptations multiple times a day instead of once in a blue moon. I haven't weighed myself for months, and am afraid to see how much I have gained back. I have been fighting sinus infections since mid August. I get better while I'm taking the antibiotics, but within a week of finishing a prescription, it all comes back again. This time it is in my chest as well. Hard to exercise when I can't hardly breathe. If I can't move it, move it, move it, the way I'd like to, I am going to have to reign in theses lousy food indulgences I have developed. Its time to bust those temptations before they completely bust me! Accountibilty to others always helps me to stay focused and on track. I'm hoping to find that support and motivation to get back and stay on the right track.

Hi. I have been trying for about a year to lose 10 lbs. The problem I am a compulsive snacker. After dinner or if I am home on the weekends are the worst times. I am very active so I don't really GAIN weight, but it is totally stymieing any weight loss I could manage. I just need some encouragement to help me realize that I don't NEED any more food! And that I can do something else instead of snacking.

Hi, my name is Crystal and I am new to Spark. I joined back in April or so but haven't really been on. I started my weight loss journey in January and lost all but 5 pounds of my weight. Huzzah, I was on spark before with a different user name and also on this team and so happy to have found you folks again.

I am in a major temptation phase as I'm re-establishing a state I was in for a number of years, that of being SUGAR FREE (or as close to it as humanly possible). For this endeavor, I use the old Sugar Busters plan, as modified by me.

UPDATED INTRO FOR THE NEWBIES...

I've been on sparkpeople for awhile and I'm looking for a team that I can connect with and feel a big part of.
Due to breaking my right wrist 12 days ago and surgery 10 days ago to repair the damage, there are some things I simply can't do right now as I'm right handed. That makes simple chores and cooking a workout in itself. But I'm working to get back down to a weight where I can move more freely and hopefully get off blood pressure pills. Currently my goal is to get down to 200 lbs or less. I won't be thin by a long run but I will be a lot healthier than I am now.

Hello all. My name is September and I am new to this website. I've been battling with my weight since high school and am currently 22 and a full time college student. I am wanting to take of some weight before I go abroad to student teach in Japan in Spring 2013. I can usually keep up with exercise, but junk food is my weakness. College is a face paced life style and I usually end up eating out or eating fast food because I am too tired or have too much homework to eat healthy. I'm hoping that joining this community will help me keep myself on track.

ZENXB! ... now is the season to get into trying veggies and going healthy.
Grilled, stir fry, sauteed, steamed. Just try it.....the more you incorporate the healthy stuff, the less you'll crave the junk. Think of it as Nature's magic pill for weight loss.

Hello! I have been on Sparks for a while, but have not come across this team. Junk food and wine is my weakness. My mom worked second shift when growing up, so we lived on fast food, soda and junk. I am trying to re-learn what is healthy but I really struggle with temptations and going back to "the old way". Hoping this team will have great tips and inspiration for me. Any help that is out there, I will take it!

Megan, try reading some success stories or motivational blogs when you feel tempted. That helps me a lot. Sometimes I might read a blog that I relate to and I realize if they can do it so can I!!

Don't give up!! Keep trying. Have lots of healthy snacks and no bad snacks around. Maybe veggie sticks, Almonds, light popcorn, baked cracker chips, etc....

Megan, how much are you trying to lose? It's not a good idea to try for a fast fix cause you won't keep it off. The MOST you should work towards would be 2 lbs a week. More than that and you're only losing excess fluid, which is quickly regained. What is your current weight and how tall are you? How active are you? Those all come into play when working towards losing weight.

Hello! My name is Melissa Myles. I am 21 years old and I am over weight. My mom referred me to this group to help me track my weigh loss. my attentions was to lose weight for my sister wedding which is this fall October 21 but then I decided that I need to lose weight to be healthy for myself and for my 2 year old daughter. I just joined this team. I have been tempted to snack at night. Then I tend to go over my calories. I have not lost weight since April but I have lost 100 pounds.

I have 50-75 pounds to go and really need to stop being tempted to eat too much at night!! It is my downfall. I look at the last few months and I am sad that I have not lost anything. (I evwen gained 8 pounds)

I hope to give and get support to stop the snacking!

HI everyone. I'm brand new here--just registered today. I struggle big time with cravings for sweets. Has anyone found a way to overcome that? My biggest weaknesses are chocolate and cake. This is one of my biggest struggles with weight loss.

Yes I the above user/ am still struggling with the sweets!! I keep telling myself a little or smaller portion is ok, just do more exercise or walking. I have cut the portions back and eat healthier when I go out to eat too. If we go out to say Pizza ranch, I head stsraight to the salad bar first, and always take off the fried skin on the chicken if I do take a piece, and load on the veggies and fruit later at home. I have quit the late night eating, remember to stop eating at least 3 hours before bedtilme, your stomach needs rest too. Kathy.
