Man do I understand the challenges of being overweight with an active child! My daughter just turned 2 and if I had even a quarter of the energy she does, I'd probably be able to keep up with her as well as get EVERYTHING done that I'm supposed to be doing on a daily basis. As it is, I can barely manage to clean up after her whirlwind once she's gone to bed, in fact I usually pass out right next to her while trying to put her to sleep. For me, the hardest thing is finding time for myself because she's always on the go and getting into trouble, and she NEVER stops! 9am till after midnight most days, no naps unless she happens to fall asleep in the car.
I am 56 years old and a mother of two boys ages 35 and 31. I'm a grandmother of 3 wonderful children 9, 7, 6 years old and I was once were you are today. I understand you completly. I went to WW and lost 100 lbs got pregnant with my second gained back all plus more. I then used "nutrisystem" lost 100 lbs couldn't afford the food and gained it all back plus extra more- if that's possible. Then I gave up. It wasn't until I had gotton laid off and then had a semi nervouse breakdown 2001 that I sort of got to the point of I need to loose weight to make myself happy. I didn then I gained it back again. It wasn't until 2003 when I actually saw myself as everyone else did in my son's wedding. I then said I have to do this. I joined Curves, and Jazzersize and starting eating correctly and found Sparkpeople and now I'm down from what I weighed 260 lbs I've since then I have lost 78 lbs i'm down to a not so proud 182. I've been this weight for 7 years and now i'm finally focusing on myself again and trying to loose more. I would love to lose just 10 more lbs. I will never be happy with my shape but I hope to be happy with my weight. I went for my yearly labs test and the dr said I was in great shape all my levels were great - so in some ways i'm healthier than I ever was but I want to be even healthier if you can understand what I mean. So you are doing it the smart way you are with SP and we care about you to do it the correct way with watching your food and doing exercise.
Massachusetts If you can't change your circumstances, change the way you look at them.
Congratulations....you just have to remember to keep moving no matter what it is. I have my 4 year old son as my motivation to get healthy and lose my excess weight. He has always been very active and now I am having some trouble keeping up with him. That was my wake up call. Good luck to you and everyone else on their journeys.
Hi I am a 30yr old from Ga. I have been a on and off member of Spark People for a few years now. I have always struggled with my weight even as a child. As I got older I discovered that I have PCOD which is an issue some women have and one of its side affects is weight gain with the very difficult in ability to lose weight. I do take medication to help because I have insulin resistance. I finally became a mom 18months ago to a little girl who is EXTREMELY energetic. I was up to weighing 305lbs after having my daughter and doing nothing to control the weight. Then I became a stay at home mom back in August and began to lose weight due to my active child. Although I have been losing weight I am also feeling the pressure of being an over weight mom with a very active child. I am hoping this will give me the kick I need every day to just remember to keep on moving. I am doing this for myself but also to be there for my baby. Even though I am 269.2lbs as of today's weighin I need to lose ALOT more weight and hope I can just stay on this path to win.
