Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.
Being here at Spark is progress in itself. I've been here for quite a while, too, and have lost, gained (after surgery and a long recovery), and am now losing weight again. The excellent information here, the helpful tools and the great friendships I've developed will be of great benefit to ALL of my health--not just the number on the scale; however, I fully intend that that should be lowered steadily as time goes by. I'm in it for life, so it doesn't matter how long it takes.
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and for your renewed commitment. You can do it!

I have been a member of Spark People for quite a while and have been very inconsistent. I know I need to lose weight, I know I will feel better inside and out, I just let life get in the way. I am getting married to my long time partner this summer and want to look and feel better so this time I am going to use Spark People to keep me motivated and succeed. The Jumpstart Workout Challenge may be just what I need.
