I am a 30 year old mother of 4 and I've struggled with my weight since 2nd grade, when my grandma told me I was getting chubby and "boys don't like fat girls." In 1999-2000 I lost 75lbs and developed a passion for exercise and fitness. Still, my love for food, combined with emotional eating and depression, caused me to gain back 15lbs, and I was so distraught at the thought of being "fat" again that I got pregnant with my 2nd child just to have an excuse! Since my daughter was born in Nov. 2002, I have had multiple attempts at weight loss but they were all short lived. Still, I love to do cardio and most strength training exercises...the problem lies in staying focused on my goals and controlling my portions. I now have 4 kids and just recovered from a deep depression which led to a manic bipolar diagnosis. I so desperately want the confidence and zest for life I had when I was in good shape and did not feel constantly judged by my appearance. At 215lbs (and 5'3!) I have a long way to go, but I've done it before; I can do it again! I've lost over 6lbs the past two weeks and that (along with awesomely fun new cardio machines at the Y) has really sparked my motivation. I look forward to connecting with some people who share my struggles so I can encourage and be encouraged!
