Hi everyone. I've been on the challenge for a while and have had a bit of success--but more lack of success than anything.

I had a very rude awakening this weekend and so now I'm really trying to pick up the pieces and get this going strong!!

Hello everyone!

I signed up for this challenge in January, but then life happened. Now I'm back and determined to make April my month. There is a lot going on this month, but I think I can do it. My biggest problem before was being embarrassed to do the videos in front of my family. With two very athletic teens in the house I was intimidated. But they've been so encouraging the last several months about my weight loss I think I can do this now!

I'm also very shy about posting and discussions. I get it that getting involved can help with encouragement, it's just hard to make myself break into a group.

Thanks!

Thank you Katesplan2. I am semi proud of myself for realizing I need to be my priority. I say semi---because I'm afraid I'll slip into the old habit of letting other things be the priority.

Glad you're here. Work took over my life several years ago. At a certain point, I had to just pull the reins in and think about me instead of it. I'm proud of you.

Hi all,

My name is Kristin and I'm from California. I'm 45 years old and I've been with SP for a while, although I took a 6 month hiatus due to a crazy work schedule. I am learning, slowly, that I need to be a priority and that I can't slack off on taking care of myself because of work. Work doesn't care about my physical or emotional well-being or my health.

I'm joining the challenge a bit later than January....but better late than never.

My name is Katy of California. I'm 47 years old and I want to loose 50 pounds. That was how much I've gained in the last 20 years. These extra 50 pounds have made negative impact on my health and life style. So I think it's time to be serious about weight loss. I would need all the help I can get, such as inspiration, motivation, healthy eating tips, exercise tips, and etc. emoticon

Well, I started off in this challenge pretty strong. completed week one without any trouble. Things have been crazy around my place the last few weeks but, I haven't been doing nothing. I have been going 3 nights a week and working out with a group that does P90X, P90X3, Insanity and T25, among other workouts. So, while I have been slacking on logging on to sparkpeople, I haven't bee slacking on my workouts. :-)

Welcome new sparkers!
I will have to say what works best for me is to concentrate on the nutrition. Exercise is important to living a healthy life but the biggest thing for me was to make sure I ate the right way and the right amount. The nutritional tracker is key to success as far as I am concerned. I still have the same 15 lbs I have been trying to take off but I have lost most of the weight due to eating and staying in my calorie range. I have learned to love exercise (most days) and how much more awake and good I feel because of it.
Good luck all!

Anne

I am Russ and need to lose 62 lbs. I need to do it this year because I am so tired of the extra weight and need to get in great shape! Tired of feeling weak and bloated, not being able to do the things I used to do with ease! Want to be able to ride my bike 20 miles and say what a nice ride! I will be 56 this May and my goal is to do the 20 mile ride then!

Welcome Rachel...how cool that you are in Norway!
Deepositive and Joanna-I too have hypothyroidism (along with a nervous system disorder). In fact I have recently been going back and forth between hypo and hyperthyroidism. Not fun. BUT...losing weight CAN be done even with this. Once you are on your medicine and feeling a bit more energy it will happen! You can do this!

Hi! My name is Rachel and I am starting over (for the millionth time! lol) I am nearing the end of my college career and studying this semester in Norway where everything is dang expensive! Eating out too much was one of my problems at home, but here I am forced to cook so I have the opportunity to make some healthier choices. I'm also a workaholic back home but am starting up a new fitness routine here with the free time I now have.

I am a bit late starting this challenge but today was my day 2. :)

Hi, I was inspired to do this challenge by the progress of another member. My bike (main source of cardio), is currently awaiting repair, and I realised that I was using that as an excuse not to do anything, so thought taking this challenge would keep me going.

My name is Dianna I've been a member here for some time however just I've just REALLY gotten motivated and have been taking advantage of all the great tools here.
My goal are as follows:
*To stick to a low carb, gluten free nutrition plan
*Exercise at least 10 minutes per day-this has been key because I can always do at least 10 minutes and often do more (It's helped me so much w the excuse I just don't have time)
* To protect my sleep and cherish as opposed to what I usually do is push to do one more thing
* To lose 100 lbs however I'm focusing on the first 30 so as not to get overwhelmed

This has been helping me get organized in every aspect of my life!
Thanks Spark GUY!
There are more however that's a start. I love this challenge and look forward to all our success.
Good Luck to everyone w this challenge and all you weight loss and fitness goals.

My name is Jenny. I started with Spark People a couple of years ago. I was hovering around 200 pounds. After I joined, I lost 25 pounds. I am now hovering around 175 going a pound or 3 either way.
It is time to set some more goals and get to the next level. I would like to lose another 25 pounds to make it down to the 150-155 area. This will help my health goals tremendously.
I work at a college and have requested to be part of the fitness training class. If I am chosen, I will have a student who is working toward their degree as a fitness trainer. If their grade is depending on my success, I am hoping that will motivate me to follow through on my fitness goals.
Here is to a great 2014.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'm going to do that today. I just happen to read an article about setting small goals and developing a "streak" of accomplishment to help see your results.

Caligirl674: You might want to set several smaller goals - maybe X pounds per month so that you can see the results quicker. Accomplishing small goals in a quicker time frame builds you up so you can meet the overall goal.

Hi all!! Today is my new beginning! I have been saying this over and over again but today I really want a new start! I don't want to go thru another year without taking pictures with my kids and without loving myself when the weather is warm. I am going to really push myself and just no that it is a long road! One day at a time is my new motto!

Wish I would have seen this a week ago but it's Ok. I will
Enjoy the next 3 weeks
Looking forward to the exercises
I remember when you tracked exercises you had assigned exercises. Not like that anymore OR
I am missing it somehow. It was like how the food section that shows you. Rambling
So off I go to start this adventure
Not here to lose weight MOTIVATION and accountability. Learning again to exercise
Not getting any younger but want to feel younger and exercise does that emoticon

Just started the challenge today. My goal is to lose 40lbs by my 40th bday this June. I'm going to cut out caffeine, drink 8 glasses of water a day, exercise at least 3x week, and make healthier food choices. My biggest goal is to stick with this and complete the challenge!! I'm really tired of being tired all the time and feeling unhappy with myself so I've really got to suck it up and do this for ME! I've got 6 months to reach my goal and this time around, I've got to do it!!

Kate- that's my problem too...chocolate! Most times I just won't have it in the house. It's too darn dangerous. If I do have it I try to make it just a few of the small mini hershey bars but I do need to watch I don't eat them all! I try to imagine how long I need to run/workout to burn the candy off.

Hi everyone,
Finally feel like I'm starting to get a regular routine with tracking food, exercise etc. My sister is also on Spark and she got us both a Tracker. It was a big boost. Gave me a lot more motivation just getting that. Fun to see how many steps and how it tracks everything for me. I must stop with the chocolate. I can't seem to get beyond that weakness. Any ideas??

Hello everyone! My name is Ciara and I am (unfortunately, but forgiveably) just now getting around to starting my January challenge. My goals are to continue in my change of lifestyle, as I have so far lost 32 pounds since October 19. During this challenge I'd like to lose another 10 pounds. My goals are to do walk 6 miles and do 35 minutes of yoga every day, along with some strength training and the videos on here, drink at least 2 litres of water a day, track my nutrition, do my best to keep checking in with my teams regularly and stay positive!

Hugs, Ciara

Hi there! I will be starting the challenge on Monday. In the last year, I have gained about 20 pounds. Now, I am trying to establish healthier habits. I have spent the past two weeks focusing on eating right and am ready to start exercising too. I have had great success with these challenges in the past. My goals are to exercise everyday, to track my food everyday and to lose 5 pounds.

Hi there,

I just came across sparkpeople yesterday and decided to join. I'm 33 years old and a first time mom. Needless to say I need to lose weight and for health reasons too. I used to play soccer competitively for years and was always in great shape. I like the team aspect of this so I hope to succeed finally in losing this weight and having a healthy lifestyle not only for me but for my little girl. :-)

Hi! I'm Megan, I'm starting this challenge as a way to boost my consistency over the Winter. It's really cold where I live, so these indoor workouts are going to be great!
I'm really excited to get started and get in shape for the Spring. I don't weigh myself so I don't know how many pounds I want to lose, but I know I want to fit in my size 8 jeans by the end of Winter. Looking foreword to working with you!

Hi! I'm Leandra & I'm starting this new challenge for the 1st time & I am stoked! I know that I can do this & complete the challenge with good results! I'm going to stay focused, get to my gym as well as do the online workout vids here at home, make sure that I'm drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day, keeping my blood sugars at a good healthy level, getting enough sleep, provided that insomnia doesn't try to sneak in...LOL...& last but not least, eat healthy foods! I'm a Type 2 Diabetic dependent on insulin & I REALLY want off of it for good within the next 6 months, so that I can get my CDL license finally! I have two beautiful boys, 23 & 17, who I used to think that I needed to lose the fat & get healthy for them, but after talking with them & my mom, they made me realize that I need to do this for myself & no one else. They're right. So, now, this is for me & when I reach my ultimate weight goal of 125, I'm taking myself to Los Angeles, CA, & show off my awesome looking, healthy body & be proud of what I have accomplished! So....here goes!!!!! emoticon

Hey everyone -- I am Sharyl -- I am psyched to be involved in a challenge -- I have been doing this on my own for the last 2 weeks but accountability and a challenge is always good :D

Hi everybodeeeee! Lol. I'm Amanda, but most people on the inter webs call me Am. I'm 30 something 100 or so lbs. over weight. I joined this challenge today, but I've been getting some hardcore cardio in everyday since January 1st. Speed walking with some light running. I've been doing crunches, push ups and planks, among other things daily. I need accountability to stay on track. Hoping that this challenge will provide that.

Hi, I'm Janet, I've been a member of SparkPeople since 2011, but haven't been active in longer than I care to say. I'm starting over, I've been at this for about a week now, doing okay. I'm hoping this challenge will help me get more active and exercising more regularly. I'm already getting better with eating, so I feel like I'm headed in the right direction.

Hi everyone! My name is Leslie and I've been active on SP for a year now. I've made such progress in the last year and so many changes. Best of all I've improved my health vastly! I've been walking 30 mins a day for about 9 months and now that my heart is stronger I'm able to add some extra exercise to my routine. I'm hoping to tone up and get stronger. I want to build just enough muscle to help the fat burning along in hopes of reaching a maintenance weight this year. I'm struggling emotionally right now because my mom just passed away two weeks ago. I feel like a new challenge and some new friends to encourage and get support from may be just what I need. Looking forward to getting strong together!

Hello team members! I am Terri and live in Texas. I recently retired from teaching and am very excited about this challenge. I have been using Sparkpeople for many years. I am up for the challenge! I just ordered my spark tracker and can't wait for the mailman to deliver it!

Hello everyone! didn't introduce myself to the team earlier due to not knowing if I could follow thru with adding another workout to my sessions. So here I am, making changes and following thru!! Today is day 5 for me! I feel I am doing great even if there isn't a big loss on the scale. My body is changing and muscles are getting stronger. I actually feel less wiggle and jiggle. Anyway, I am so glad to be a part of this wonderful supportive community with spark. Thank you for this awesome "free" website and thank you Coach Nicole for wonderful workouts. A heart felt thank you to everyone else too!!

I'm opening a new page of a new chapter in my life!! Boy, it feels great!!
