Hi! I'm Dawn from North Carolina. I've been an SP member since 2005 but it's really been since July that I've really gotten serious about my health and my weight. I've started eating a plant-based diet and have lost a total of 45 lbs since January of last year. I'm looking to lose a minimum of 50 lbs this year, but I'm starting with 10 lbs this month.

I am Sharon from Southern California. I have been an on and off member. I am looking to kick start my year because my doctor told me to lose some weight and reduce my carbs and sugars. This was the motivation I needed. My husband has been doing the low carbs and low sugar for a while so now we will do it together and help be each others motivation. I also want to work just getting back into exercising regularly because I injured my right knee in May and I know it is because I am not as active as I used to be. I stand a lot but not much physical activity.

Howdy - I also am almost 60 - Turning the big 60 in June and it really hit home that if I am ever going to get it together it had better be NOW!! Last July I could hardly walk and had canceled or not even attempted so many things that I wanted to d that summer because of the shape I was in that it made me miserable. After having a miserable vacation with grandkids because I could do nothing I decided time to change my life around - no quick fixes - but change my life. Well I am getting there one Babystep at a time and have had some great times this past couple of months because of it but I know I have to loose ALL the extra wait and make these life changes stick. My personal goal for this year was to not gain more then 5# between Thanksgiving and New Years - met that goal and crushed it by loosing 2# instead of gaining. Using this Jump Start to get below 200# before my birthday. I know weigh less then any time in the last 20 years - feels great!!!

Aloha. Happy New Year. I am almost 60. I think I am fairly healthy compared to some 60 year olds. But I am going to try & not compare for many have much larger struggles than I
I don't have much weight to loss. I am looking to GAIN some structure, motivation. Exercise regularly
I have been in pain for almost 10 years now. Back pain (2 back surgeries) with radiating nerve pain down the back of my right leg to bottom of my foot

Hello team. I'm back to SP after a loooooooong hiatus. I guess I thought that sitting on my butt, eating ice cream, being depressed and complaining about my weight was going to help emoticon LoL!
Just so you know, that didn't work out too well for me. So, I'm going to try this instead. emoticon

I'm 46 (until August), no partner, no kids. I am a grad student working toward a masters in counseling: Marriage and family therapy, which means a lot of work and a lot of stress. But, hey, I'm paying a lot of money for that stress and I'm going to enjoy every second of it haha. I look forward to this challenge with you all, and I hope to maybe make a buddy or two along the way.

Hello ladies, how are you? I am doing better.
Was really bummed by the weight in this morning. (200 is not where I started).
Wanted to lose weight this year and not gain it. So, I rejoined this challenge.
Starting back with daily exercise and eating healthy. (lots of water as well).
Hard to do when you are working in a deli but I am going to make it.

My name is Dyanne. I'm from Arkansas. I had weight loss surgery in 2012 to cure type 2 diabetes. I weighed 220lbs on the day of my surgery. I was killing myself one bite at a time. 4 insulin injections or more every day. And oral medications too. My A1C was 10. I lost down to 135lbs. My mother was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer and died in 2013. s. I gained back 30 of it eating my feelings.

August 2015 I was weighing in at 150lbs. I decided it was time to get serious and focus on my diet and exercise. I joined a local fitness club. I now weigh 125lbs and my goal weight is 120lbs. I'm 5'2". I workout 6 days a week - 45-60 minutes of cardio and 30-45 minutes of weightlifting.

I want to work on my diet and work on eating more fresh green veggies and fruit (mostly berries).

My diet is currently low carb/high protein.

My current A1C is 5.0. No more diabetic medications!!

Nothing changes if nothing changes.

Hello! I am a 61 going on 62 yr. Old interested in getting healthier. I am not new to SparkPeople.com even though I haven't been active on here much as of late. Having been a care giver in nursing homes and hospitals during my working life I never really took the time to care for me. Learning to do this now.

hey everyone, my name is Tammy, i have been sparking for a little over a year and going stronger now still trying to get in better shape. started oh SP at 240, now down to 210. still not where i want to be only 20 lbs left.

Did my weekly weigh-in/ measurements. I was able to maintain my weight/ inches previously lost over the holiday season. HOORAY !!!! Our local mall has started a "Walking Club" through our Parks & Recreation Dept. And they do weekly drawing for prizes,as well. The Club has set a Million Minute Challenge for all the walkers...and we are at 900,000!!!! SO grateful to have this free, fun indoor option during the crazy up's & down's of a typical Midwestern winter !!!!!

Hi. I've been a member of Spark on and off through the years. I need to lose the weight to get off my blood pressure medicine and my cholesterol medicine and others. I have a back injury so have been unable to do any form of exercise. I'm doing a procedure tomorrow and then again next month...hoping this will finally be the thing that eases the pain so I can exercise and be in less pain. It's been a long 4 years. I would like to lose 40 pounds, but more than anything I would like to be HEALTHY and make HEALTHY choices for a lifetime. I'm 48...it's time.

Hi! I'm Katherine, a 59 year old female living in the Dallas TX area. Recently my employer made 24/7 gym memberships available to all the employees including us contractors. So I used that momentum to get past my excuses and start going to the gym again. Then I decided to try to reconnect with Spark People, too. This jump start is just what I need. I really am most interested in getting into better shape, but if I am really honest with myself, I need to lose at least 70 pounds. I am pre diabetic and do not want to go down that path - want to reverse things. So here I am.

Hello from the Greenbay Packer state! It is cold and frigid here. But I got my exercise shoveling today. I did the workout from Sparkpeople last night; the walikng one. I also did 10 minutes of arm exercises too. i am very weak yet since I have not been working out in over a year. last year I fell and broke my wrist and let everyrthing go then.

Hello from Spokane WA with winter here its time to think spring so i thinking its time to start training for our 12 race we have the Sunday in May and set my goal to do it in 2.5 hours walking the course turned 65 this year so think that that will be a good time to work towards. just joined to day so missed a week but wanted to my self out of Holiday sparking . Goals provide the energy source that powers our lives. One of the best ways we can get the most from the energy we have is to focus it. That is what goals can do for us; Denis Waitley. we made it to Friday emoticon

My name is Amanda and I have been a member with SP since 2008, obviously not always on my game. I have been doing the 5% Challenges for a few years but was pregnant and had my daughter and really haven't been participating on a competitive level for a long time now.
