Hi All! I'm Amy & I am on Day 2 of a 15 day juice fast but I'm hoping that I will gain momentum and go for 60 days. I'm doing this because I've battled a few health issues and it's affected my ability to lose weight. I'm BUMMED and need to reboot everything. I'm SO stoked to find a group on here! The success stories are SO motivating! emoticon And the side effect stories are reassuring...I'm still in shock over reading someone's post about "worms"...I thought what I experienced was bad until I read that. emoticon

I ordered Joe's recipe book and have been using recipes I found on his website and through pinterest. Cheers! emoticon

Amy :)

My name is Melissa and I am waiting on a piece for my juicer to begin the Reboot with Joe. I plan on doing the 5 day fast at least. I have a few health problems and need to increase my vegetable and fruit intake. I am also hoping that this really will reboot my taste buds!

Hi Everybody! I'm Vanessa i live just outside of Atlanta,GA. I'm Starting a 60 day Juice fast Jan 22, 2014 which also happen to be my 28th birthday. I seen FSND maybe 2 years ago and had it in my mind that i wanted to to a fast but never really the courage or the funds. But i have decided all the money i spend on fast food and other junk can be better spent on produce to get my self healthy. I am doing this for 2 reasons, i have some pretty awful eating habits that i would like to break, and weight loss. I just want to be healthy and more active. I Plan on pairing my juice fast with an amazing Yoga program DDPYoga. And i firmly believe that i can accomplish my 55 pound goal. I have my Post juice fast plans in place, to become Gluten, dairy, and sugar free.

Hi everyone! I'm starting a 60 days (I hope) juice fast starting 22 Jan 2014. I aim to drop 40 lbs. So sick and tired of carrying these excess weight and toxins and feeling unhealthy and avoiding meet up with family and friends.

I don't know how long I can go, but I'm aiming for at least 40 days. I'm so so soooo bad when it comes to staying motivated, so do join me and let's be one another's encourager in this journey! :)

Hello:) I'm currently on day 3 of a 60 day juice fast. I found this group in a web search and it's exactly what I needed *support*! I did a 21 day fast before and had great results, but I fell to temptation on day 21, but now I'm ready for success:)

I am on Day 9 of a long-term fast. I am hoping to go 40-50 days. It would be great to have support and get advice while going longer this time. The longest fast I did before this was 18 days. I have been mostly vegan and have done so much Mean Green juicing this past year. My latest addition to my juicing fast is prune juice and spirolina. (I was inspired by "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead.)

Greetings,

I am winding down on day 1 of my juicing - be it a feast or a fast. I have seen FSND on many occasions but now I feel it is right for me. My goal is to do 40 and then re-evaluate after that. I am glad to be here!

Hi everyone ......... I am 2BDYNAMIC ....... (friends usually call me 2B) ..........
I just joined team ........... I have one of the mighty 'turbo' blenders which I absolutely love!
I have been juicing for several months ....... (Greendrinks) ................ My DH and I have seen emoticon health results! .......... Both his and my Doctors' have commented and taken notice w/ so many changes! ...........
I am not fasting ......... But for one: My breakfast is no longer a large meal ........... is not necessary w/ the completeness of the drink. A typical drink made first thing looks like:

Kale--Spinach--1 rib celery
1-2 organic carrots
handful of watercress
baby bok choy
Blueberries/ one banana
Chia seeds
2 Tbs. Flax oil
1 scoop brewers yeast
cover w/ ice water

I absolutely LOVE organic grapefruit juice!!! ............. So I add approx. 1 Cup
and a chunk of Ginger ...........
AFTERNOONS: (esp on a hot day) ......... I love to make :
Organic carrots
Pineapple
small amt greens
Opt: apple
Grapefruit juice and generous amt. ginger
It is so tangy and refreshing!

I am amazed at how daily juicing (green drinks) curb appetite and I no longer want a lot of things I used to like! .......... same for hubby!
I am looking forward to meeting anyone who has like interests ............. emoticon

Hi everybody! I'm Windsong, 27 years old, and this will be my first juice fast... I'm on day One. I've had a problem with yo-yo weight over the years, ranging from 120 - 200+ lbs, but it has been getting harder and harder to drop the weight I gain. I've been between the same ten pounds for over a year now, but I don't feel healthy. I'm always tired, using alcohol to handle stress, pumping my body full of pharma just to get by. My days usually consist of 2 hours driving, 9 hours at a desk, then home to sit for a few more hours with a book or video game until bed. I've been slowly changing my eating habits, but it's not enough. At home, I have a wonderful husband (who cooks like a world class chef) and a 14 year old son who loves pizza (big surprise, hm?).

So, here I am... I need a lifestyle change, and kicking it off with a juice fast is what I feel is right. It will be hard though. I have some support from my family, but not many friends, and with some of them, every time I do something to better myself I get negative feedback. I've done the research and know what is coming in the next 30 days... I'm so glad there's a whole group of people who understand. Thank you for all being here, so the rest of us know we're not alone!

Argue for your limitations and sure enough, they're yours. ~Richard Bach

Hi I'm Sherry, 64 yr old .recently watched FSND....TWICE! Also several other very good nutritional documentaries...forks over knives etc. I ve been on Spark people for about three yrs. just retired dec of 2012 and promptly put on 50 lbs! Currently staying with daughter and her hubby until grand daughter is born first of Sept2013. My juicers and blenders are at home 2000 miles away. So my juicing will be delayed for another 6 or 8 weeks. I have very little say over the groceries brought into the house but when I get home I am deffinitely getting back into good nutrition. I had lost 70 lbs changed many unhealthy habits but here I am 50 lbs up! And that was after keeping that weight off for three yrs! I am mad at myself but while I wait to get home I am studying up on this better nutrition.

I have a question...how many times a day do you drink the juices? I know they must be freshly juiced to get the benefits of the enzymes. How many ounces do you drink each time? How much water is drunk daily? I like the guideline of 20% fruit and 80% vegetables. But with all my research I just don't know the daily amounts. Do we drink three times a day? Every Six hours? Only when you are hungry? Please help. I want to get it right.

Start each day fresh, the slate is clean , make good choices today.....for better results tomorrow.

Hello, I'm Deb, I'm 53 years old and I have been juicing for 7 days now. I wanted to juice for the whole 60, but was thinking with Father's Day coming and grilling season etc I would stop today. Then I found this site. Maybe I can keep going? I definitely need new recipe's though. I've been juicing mostly kale, apples, cucumbers, tomatoes, celery, lemons, limes, ginger, berries and beets. I purchased a Hurom from Home Depot. It squeezes instead of chops. So if anybody wants to journey this road together talk to me...I'm needing some encouragement. By the way...you will feel lousy the first three days but after that you will have energy and feel fresh and healthy. I lost 15lbs this week and only added walking and a bit of biking to my days. It is getting hard to walk around the neighborhood though smelling all those bbqs going. But with a little encouragement..I could be persuaded to keep going:) Thanks

Hi, I am Sam. 45 year old and 80 pounds overweight. I started a juice fast last month and lasted 10 days before I slipped and ate wheat bread. Then, in true addict fashion, I completely fell off of the wagon. I had lost 16 pounds but have gained 4 back in the past 3 days.
I will call that fast my "practice run" and now I am full on read for a 60 day fast. I loved the way I felt. I had more energy and the chronic itchy rashes I get disappeared!! I felt great!

So long story short, I am fully committed. NO cheating! And NO listening to those around me who tell me my decision is "crazy and unsustainable". Please. Everything is a choice right?

Day one, here I come!

RIKITT, I live in B.C. too! Where are you?

I'm glad I found this group. I was inspired by Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead and my dr. gave me the go ahead to do a juice reboot last night. I'm still reading the book and I think it's important I finish it before I start, but I've bought a new juice and it's ready to go! I just want to make sure I know everything I need to know before I start. I'll probably start with a 3 day plan and see how I do on that, then work my way up. I'm a little concerned about sugar/carb cravings while I'm juicing and also how juices will taste, but I'm up to the task.

Hello :)

I'm new to the SP, but I'm really finding it to be a useful tool, I have already been inspired in so many ways.

I live in BC, and I'm in my 30s. I grew up drinking fresh juices from my dad's garden, because he was a health nut, but I never really thought about doing it as a supplement to my adult diet... Until now. I have battled some health issues over the past couple years, and I've ended up gaining nearly 100 pounds. I want to get back to a healthy weight, so that I can get back into the things that I enjoyed doing, prior to getting sick, especially running, which I cannot physically do anymore.

I'm starting a 30 day juice fast tomorrow, and would love some support and advice. This will be my second juice fast, and though I never thought I would admit it, my dad was on to something.

If you'd like any information about me, please visit my blog. I'm an avid writer, sometimes with a sense of humour, but would love to share experiences, and advice.

Juice FTW

Nothing worth having comes easy.

Hi, I'm Julia - I'm in Kansas!! I just posted a link here after watching the "Fat Sick & Nearly Dead" documentary on YouTube this afternoon. I've been on his website for the past two or three years, ever since my girlfriend and I watched it on her NetFlix account a few years ago. Husband already owned a 70's style centrifugal juicer and later on, I bought myself a Vitamix (we inherited his mom's old 70's vintage Vitamix - so old, they didn't have the backup documentation on their website, )....they have an upgrade program where you send in your old one and let them know when you are ordering a new or refurbished one (like I did) and they sent a packing slip for the old VitaMix. After they got it, then they issued a $100 credit to my credit card - so it's a cheaper way to get a VitaMix (don't worry if you don't have an old one - look out for old VitaMixs in garage or estate sales!)....

Annnnyway I really want to do this BEFORE I get to be as big as Joe or Phil, or BEFORE I have to be on gobs of medications... I just mixed up a smoothie earlier today. Need to go buy up some more freggies tomorrow.

It's tougher when our son is such a junk food junkie and won't drink the juices... he's tried them in previous years but I've just not been consistent...but I just gotta do this, ya know??? And the spring and summer will be good times to work on this!

See you around!
Julia

Hi!
I have watched this movie a thousand times! I know alot of people think this is so extreme and are trying to talk me out of doing a juicefast! You're still getting really healthy food and lots of food. But they don't want to see that. You need to do what is right for you I guess. Glad to be here! emoticon

Hi juicers!

My juicer is on order, and I am excited to start! I have watched the movie that inspired this group, but it wasn't until recently that I have had the motivation to start.

Honestly, there are a lot of people out there that think it's a horrible thing, but I have been at a point of my journey where I am tired of trying to make food and I would just rather make juice. Who says you have to chew your nutrients?!?!

Hello fellow juicers! I'm Jen-Marie, and today is my first day of a 60 day juice fast. I'd love to find some buddies here on this team. I love to encourage and support others, and I welcome the same from them.

Today, I'm having Morning Green Glory, Sunburst, Clean and Green, and Red Rush juices. They are all delicious. I hope they continue to be delicious the whole rest of this week...

Looking forward to getting to know you. Have a great day and please feel free to friend me, point me to blogs and articles you like, and tell me how your juicing is going.

Hello All!

I'm Kamau and I'm looking for a juicing buddy in the Bay Area (someone to try to recipes with, go walk around Lake Merritt in Oakland). I don't have as much support as I would like and would love to have someone to support as well as there to support me.

I'm starting on February 15th, any takers?

I just recently watched FSND and also got a gift card to a fancy kitchen store from my boss so come nex paycheck I'm getting a juicer! I'm preparing my body over the next 2 weeks by not eating meat, next will be the more processed foods, and after that dairy.

I'm excited to go on this journey and feel what its like to be healthier and happier inside and out!

Wow! I didn't know this group even existed! I was looking for juicing teams the other night after watching FSND for the first time. What an impactful, inspiring movie! I made plans to cleanse and detox for the New Year, but I believe juicing is a big piece of the puzzle. My husband and I are definitely on board. He will juice at least 10 days and go from there. I hope to go the distance and do the full 60 days.

I have PCOS and hypothyroidism which will present special problems when trying to do this fast. My research shows that those who have PCOS and do this juice fast don't typically shed weight rapidly. One person lost 12 lbs in 40 days, I think? But for me, weight loss will be a perk and will help towards my long-term goal of losing 100 lb.

I hope to:
~reverse pre-diabetes and pre-hypertension
~re-activate my sluggish thyroid
~heal my body by giving it a break through juicing!
~recover more strength and vitality that PCOS has robbed me of over the yrs.
~create a lifelong habit of intermittent juice fasting for physical and spiritual goals.

Glad to be here. emoticon Let's get juicing! emoticon

(Special thanks to member Swanatopia for pointing the way to this group)

Hello from Utah. It's cold and snowy here otherwise I would be out on my Bike. Hope everyone is having a wonderful relaxing Sunday. I have been on a juice fast for the last 5 days and feeling great. I thought I would be hungry, sick and having withdrawals. I'm hoping for Joe Cross results. I'm 65 years old, not on any medications, only 30 pounds over weight (not 100) and I don't have an autoimmune disease. I have been physically active most of my life. So I think I have a little head start from where Joe started.

I am joining SCOJEN challenge for 2013. Let's all join in and Row this boat ashore. Mateys!

Hi I'm Fiona,

Today is my first day juicing! I am going to be posting my progress pics in my blog and trying to keep myself going. Who knows maybe I will take this 60 day challenge into 100days before I start the Dr, Fuhrman diet. Good luck to us all.

Hello! I, too, saw the movie and was deeply inspired. I want to start juicing soon, but haven't gotten a juicer yet. I get so overwhelmed when trying to buy the "right" one. LOL I'm really hoping with health issues this will give me the kickstart I need to maintain my newly found "mostly" vegetarian lifestyle.

:o)

I am back on SparkPages after being gone for a while. I saw Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead tonight and got inspired to pull out my Nutri-bullet and start a juice fast tomorrow. I also have an appointment with my nutritionist in two weeks and have not done anything she instructed me to do since my last appointment.

My appointment is in two weeks so my goal is a two week fast. It will be a start.

Hi Andrea!
I'm wrapping up day 6 day of juicing. The first four days are tough. The dry mouth gets a little better...I get it too. This is the only diet I have been able to stick to. You can do it! You're already seeing results and more will come.

Hello everyone! My name is Andrea. I just started my juice fast yesterday and so far I am miserable! I really have dry mouth no matter how much water I drink. I am sleepy, hungry and irritable! However, I weighed myself yesterday morning at 8:30am and my weight was 265.8. This morning I weighed myself at the same time and I weigh 262.8. Down 3lbs. in 1 day on the juice fast. I know its working so I will keep going. My 1st goal is 5 days on the fast. If I make it I will go to 10, then 20, and so on until I reach the full 60 days. 60 days will be on Oct. 13th and that is my daughters 11th birthday! My birthday is 5 days later. What a birthday gift!! So excited that I found this group!

You don't have to be Great to Start, but you have to Start to be Great!

Hi, I'm Sherria. I haven't been on Spark in a very long time. I have been busy with life and work, but still trying to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle. I first heard about Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead a while ago but didn't pay much attention and didn't see the movie. But recently my friend started a juice fast and she has been getting amazing results. I decided to watch the movie and see what all the hype was about and I ended up buying a juicer as soon as the final credits were rolling on the movie! LOL.

Before my juicer came I was already doing smoothies that I would make up after a workout, mostly peanut butter banana. Now I plan to do at least a 10 day juice fast and if I can make it longer that will be great. I would love to make it to 30 days but we will see. I came back to Spark just to see if there was anyone here juicing and to find some extra support while I do this. I'm so happy to have found this group! I am on day 1 of my 10 day juice fast and excited to see how this affects my life, health and weight!

(sound mind) x (sound body) - I can't = I DID IT!!!!

Hi - My name is Wendy. My boyfriend and I saw FS&ND. We've both gained considerable weight since moving in together, three years ago, me more than him. About two years ago, I discovered on my own that I was gluten intolerant, although I've never officially been diagnosed. He has rheumatoid arthritis. The movie really inspired us. We are now on day five. I am down 6 lbs and for some odd reason, he's only down two. He's having a much harder time of it than I am, which I suspect is because I am a vegetarian and he's not.

Right now, we're probably only looking at 10 days, but I want to continue on mostly juice and maybe a healthy dinner. Right now, I'm craving quinoa, black beans and salsa like you wouldn't believe. If I can keep him on that diet, with maybe a cheat day a week, I'd be so happy.

Anyway, I'm glad you guys are here! I'll looking for advice, support, recipes and just chat!

Hello, after watching FSND my family and I have decided to give the 60 day fasting a try. I am doing this fast for detoxing, losing weight and possibly not have to take medication. I have never fast, ever so I am hoping it will all go as planned, as I am determined to make a lifestyle change. I am so happy that I have found this team! I am glad there are others that have actually tried fasting and have benefited greatly.emoticonemoticon

Hi all!

My name is Morrell (most call me Freeze.... my last name.)

I saw this team and had to join.

Earlier this year I went on a 30 day fast and I really liked the way I felt during and after.
I loved the energy I had. I loved most of all the mental clarity that I had during the fast. It was like sun was shining brighter every day and I was taking everything in.

I did the fast for the detox. Of course I did lose weight, but that was strictly a side effect.

I plan on going 60 days some time later this year. I can only imagine how great my body and mind will feel for doing so.

Great to be a part of this team and I wish everyone luck on all their juicing goals.

I'm no expert at this, I'm new myself, but this is what I've learned already.

1. Go with recipes, someone else went through a lot of trouble to figure out what goes good with what (taste wise) so at first just go with recipes.

2. When you feel 'brave' don't be afraid to add something here and there, or to experiment. Maybe do a whole glass of one vegetable, just to see how it tastes.

3. Apple is really good for taming down some of the stronger juices.

4. Remember you're doing this for your health. Remember that if you're at all like me, you've been eating all sorts of 'sweet' or 'good' tasting stuff, many of which has left all sorts of toxins behind, which is what you're cleaning out through your juice fast. Because of whatever past eating habits you have, it may take time for your tastebuds to 'get over' that sweet/savory addiction. But when it does (provided you stick with this) then the 'healthy' stuff WILL taste much different (perhaps much better).

Most of all, stick with your goals, and what you have to do to get there, be kind to your body...

Some of the juices I have tried were horrible. But how they made me FEEL makes it all worthwhile. Even the crappy tasting ones make my body feel so much more alive. The irony is that the crappy tasting ones are always recipes I 'made up' on the spot. Pretending that I'm some jucing guru, I throw all kinds of things in the juicer and try really hard not to make a face when I drink it. But I keep at it because some day I'll throw something together and it'll be yummy...

:-) But for now, at least at first I stick mostly to recipes, most of those are pretty good.

Hi,
This is my first time juicing and doing a juice fast. My husband and I are going to do the fast for 20 days, before continuing to a raw food diet before our trip to Costa Rica. We just purchased a Breville juicer, the "compact" one, and our fridge is loaded with veggies and fruits.

I'm nervous about this fast because I am a picky eater, but am hoping that I will like how vegetables taste when they are juiced.

I'm doing to fast to clean out my system and to lose weight. I also hope to make juicing a regular part of a healthy diet so I can eat nutritiously.

Cheers!

MMWatt930,

You have to do what's right for you. If you don't want to give up all your coffee, a cup of black coffee a day isn't bad. You don't even have to jump into this whole hog, you can do this a bit at a time. What's important is to committ to it, and do this one step at a time, keep moving forward and you'll get there.

You MAY find as you go through the juicing program that you lose your taste for coffee. Who knows? Be kind to your body, you can do this!

Hello. This is my first Spark Post. I watched FSND yesterday and am very inspired to do a juice fast. I searched "coffee" and found no posts. My big question is - Do I HAVE to give up coffee? I think I could manage to drink only 1 cup, black, in the morning but the thought of giving it up completely is very discouraging. I think I will be better off doing the juice fast with coffee than not doing it at all.
I want to do the fast because, while I am vegetarian and eat pretty healthy most of the time, I am seriously addicted to sugar. Also, my cholesterol is a bit high and with heart disease in my family, I want my cholesterol to be as low as possible. I have about 20 lbs to lose and haven't been able to lose more than 2-3.
Thanks.

Good Luck Safiyah.

I recently watched Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead and am now very motivated to try a juice fast. I am gradually working my way into it however. I'm currently drinking mostly juices during the day with small amount of solid foods such as a salad or hard boiled egg. My goal it to start my 30 day fast on July 8th. Hope we both make our goals! emoticon

Hi, I'm Safiyah.

After watching "Food Matters" and "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" I decided to become vegan. It's been a long process, I began by cutting out dairy completely (finally taking my doctors advice after 10 years, who told me I was lactose intolerant and to stay away from dairy) and also stay away from gluten (after hearing from the same doctor that I was sensitive to gluten).

I started making veggie smoothies. I love them, they taste delicious. But when I began having problems with what I delicately call "Intestinal Traffic Jams" I broke down and bought a juicer. I have committed to a juice fast, starting with a week, (my goal is to do a 30 day juice fast, but I'm taking this one day at a time, with an initial goal of a week so as not to become intimidated.)

Today is Day 1. Wish me luck!

Hi. My name is Tina. I am on Day 2 of my 14 day (I hope) juice fast. Last week, I did a pre-fast diet, which consisted of just fruits and veggies, which wasn't bad at all. Of course, I still had my cravings for those yummy eats that I see on TV or cooking for my family, but I did it. Day 1 (yesterday) wasn't too bad in the beginning but as evening came, I was ready to throw in the towel. BUT, of course, I didn't and I am here today on Day 2. I was extremely tired, but I also had a long day and was up early so that didn't help. I am still sluggish today, but I guess the first few days are going to be like this, so I will rest when I can and push through. I lost 2 pounds since I started yesterday and a total of 9 pounds since I started the Juice Venture last week. Is anyone doing daily enemas? I read in a book that for an extended fast of more than 7 days, its suggested to do a daily enema on Days 2, 3, & 4 of the fast. Any comments or suggestions? I want to get the most out of this and also making my body the best it can be to continue a healthy lifestyle and diet. Thank you.

Hi all. I'm on day 3 of a water fast. I'd like to go for 21 days. So far it's been rough! I almost broke it last night with takeout of all things. I just had an insane craving for tofu with broccoli that wouldn't quit. I somehow made it and am doing better with day 3.

I'm not physically hungry, it's all mental cravings. I hope it will be easier tomorrow.

Welcome, LaTasha.

Hi, I'm LaTasha
I saw the movie last Saturday and started on Monday. Yesterday was my hardest so far. I have four children and making dinner for them was torture! But I got through it. I don't want to get on the scale until Monday but I feel less bloated and my stomach doesn't feel as tight. 21 days is my goal. Glad I found this group :)

Hello, My name is Kristina and I am about embark on the 60 day juice fast. I lost my husband 5 years ago to suicide and I really thought I would lose weight and I did the opposite. My body hurts terribly and i am ready to feel healthier. I went on a juice fast with my church and felt beautiful and renewed. Skin felt wonderful, I thought more clearly. I Do better when I Feel better. I pray I can stay encouraged through Spark Peoples Juice fast team.

Praying for better health!

To be honest, I'd recommend not to buy organic if finances are an issue. I'm not able to buy organic, and I believe it's better to juice regular produce than not to juice. Or maybe buy some organic (like spinach - you use a lot of it and you can't really scrub each leaf) and the rest regular. And lets not forget - even organic produce has some pesticides, just natural ones (which can still be toxic). Don't get me wrong, I like organic, I like the idea of organic. But if I can't afford it (and I can't), then better eating regular fruits and veggies than none at all.

Thank you! and yes I mean financially :/ I went to the whole foods store the other day and saw so many things there I'd want to buy after my fast, I'll have to get a couple things at a time. I did a little research and I guess it's common for juice fasters this extreme to get as little as 500 cals. I'm juicing about 36 oz I think and that's going to have to be enough. I do mean green at lunch and an apple, beet, carrot one for dinner.

Hi Heather, and welcome.
I'm on day 13 right now. I hope to go at least 30. I promise, there's a light at the end of the tunnel. And it's not a trainemoticon
What do you mean you can't afford to juice more than 2x a day? Financially, or you don't have the time? If it's the time, just make the juice ahead of time, that's what I do.
As far as calories, I don't know how much I'm taking in. Hard to say how many calories are in these juices. I'd say I don't get in 1200 either. But I'm not hungry for more. I'd say I drink around 32oz a day only. I know most people drink around 64oz. But my body doesn't need more right now, so I won't drink more.
So as long as you're not starving yourself (other than day 1 and possibly 2, when your stomach is complaining it's not getting solids), you are getting enough. IMHO
Good luck to you, I know it's challenging, but I find it quite rewarding.

Hi everyone! I'm Heather, I'm on day 3 of my juice fast! I don't know how long I will go, I just want to take it one day at a time. I would love to go as long as possible but I don't want to overwhelm myself. But I do love how I'm feeling! I have a question though... I'm not sure I'm getting at least 1200 cals a day, is that normal while fasting or should I be juicing more. I have a family of 5 so I can't really afford to juice more than twice a day. :/

Hello co-juice fasters! My name is Brooke, I'm on day 5 of my fast and it's going pretty good so far. I'm not sure how far I want to go, I was first shooting for 21 days but I don't know for sure. I have been anxious about this coming weekend, as it seems the hardest part of my fast has been the social aspect of it. I have friends in town and not everyone understands that a fast is a healthy thing to do.... so any support offered to stay strong and deal with that would be welcomed.

Live in Love

Hi! I'm Tracy. My husband and I have been on a weight roller coaster for several years now, and we are so over it. We're ready to break our food addictions, get healthy and be healthy example for our kids. We are planning on doing a complete fast for 2 weeks, then we'll see after that. We we break the fast we are going to eat a mainly plant based, whole food diet, and incorporate fresh juices several times a day.

Our juicer will arrive tomorrow and I intend to start my juice fast as soon as it arrives. I look forward to reading more juice ideas and recipes on this team and being a support to eachother.

Just keep your eye on the prize! You can do this! The hunger pangs will subside, but you still may have to self-encourage to get through them. Well, I sure did. In all honesty, it was very hard for me "at times" getting through the first week. Today though has been really easy so far (yay!). Still need to get through the evening, but I do feel like it won't be a problem. Anyway, my sparkpage is now viewable! Good luck on day 1 - keep going cause it's so worth it!!!!

10lb in a week! What a great success! I can't wait to be done with week 1, as I believe it's gonna be the hardest one. Tell me, are the bad hunger pains gone on day 9? Is it better?
I tried to check out your page, but it's set to private. My page is up now, and first blog entry up.

Hi CZECHBIRD - I'd be happy to cheer ya on! You really can do it! Having support is SO IMPORTANT that I can't stress that enough. Life will happen, and it's the support system we each have that enables us to pull through those challenges that may come up. Anyway, I am on day 9 of my 60-day juice fast. Things are going really well today. It's an adjustment for sure, but the benefits I'm already seeing. I feel a ton better, and I look better all over (body/hair/skin). I LOVE food too, and I LOVE to cook! I'm already counting the days when I can cook healthy meals and EAT! lol Let me know how your doing?! Hope it's all going well for ya. Oh...I lost 10.2 lbs the first week!emoticon

Today is day 1 of my juice fast. Not sure yet how long, I'm aiming for 30 days, but considering the whole 92 days. I've tried every diet out there (or at least it seems that way). But nothing works. I can't stick to anything long term. I LOVE food, especially anything with chocolate. So I'm hoping a 30 day fast will break my food addiction.
We'll see. Oh, and I'm looking for cheerleaders :)
I will start daily blog, as soon as I know how to do it on here.

Hi! My name is Laura, and today is the first day of my juice fast. The details on how it all started are on my latest blog, and I plan to blog every day while I'm still sticking to it. I've never even owned a juicer before, and this morning was the first time I used my new one. I've learned a lot about changing habits and have been making a lot of progress since joining SparkPeople, so I'm not too worried about gaining back what I lose, and I plan to study up on all aspects of juice fasting as I go. So let's do this thing!

DON'T EVER GIVE UP!

Howdy y'all! My name is Dorothy, and Im just finishing up day 1 of my 60-day Juice Fast. Let me just say that Day 1 has been a piece of cakeoops...I mean piece of broccoli!

After viewing Joes film, I was completely amazed & inspired, and have since done a few fasts of my own to test the waters. I did a couple short fasts (1-3 days), and then did a 7-day one where I lost over 11 lbs. Sadly, I went right back to my old ways, and gained it all back. :( This time Im going for the gold! Im hoping that a full 60 days will be enough time to really reboot my system.

Im glad to meet yall, Im pumped to be here, and Im always around to jump on the board for support - anytime!

To Good Health!

Hi everyone,
I am starting today. I saw the film about a year ago and then last weekend it was shown at my church. I thought I would give it a try as I would like to fit back into my old clothes, have more energy, feel better about myself, and possibly even get rid of some of the health challenges I'm facing.
So far, I'm peeing a lot.
That is all for now.

Hi a ll!
My name is Jo. I started on juicing with Joe a couple of months ago after watching the video, and actually lost 16 pounds in 2 weeks... Then came the epic fail. Blood tests this last week reveal I am probably diabetic now so here I am. I will be doing a combo of juicing and a light healthy meal for dinner. It worked before and with SP back in my life I am sure it will work again! Happy juicing!!!!

Hi Everyone!

I'm Cheryl....I saw Fat, Sick about two weeks ago and was completely inspired! My husband and I bought a juicer and started juicing. I have hypothryoidism and have been unable to lose weight through conventional methods so I figured...this can't hurt, right?

We did juice only for the first 3 days and I lost 6.8 pounds. On the 4th day we introduced one meal a day of at least 60% vegetables. The weight loss is slower when eating a meal a day, but it keeps me from getting too cranky from hunger.

I'm hopeful that I'll continue to lose..even just a little bit each day. :)

Hey, I'm Tom. My bad cholesterol was high & my BMI = 31 (doc visit last Thursday). He mentioned I might talk to a couple of people in his office who were Juicing & had lost 70 lbs. Then he did an EKG & it must have been really bad. Anyway, he referred me to a cardiologist. I began checking into juicing & watched the movie along with the movie Forks Over Knives. My wife ordered a juicer & we begin when it gets here. In the meantime, we've been going to Whole Foods once a day for juice. We also have cut out all animal products and dairy. So far, since last Thursday afternoon, I've lost 7 lbs (in 3.5 days).

Hello! My name is Jasmin and I am in Southern Arizona. I saw Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead...last week and I was inspired! As I reflect back on my eating habits, I am like most Americans, lots of fats, sweets, and processed foods and very little veggies and fresh fruit. I am excited to start. I signed up at jointhereboot.com and my 10 day fast begins on 1 April. Today is the first week of prepping myself adding some more veggies and fruits and doing 30 mins of cardio, next week is a full prep to get ready for 1 April. Good luck to all and I look forward to checking back here to see how everyone's doing!

Hello! My name is Sasha and I recently watched Fat, Sick, and nearly Dead...and decided to buy a juicer. I'm slightly overweight, partially due to medications that make me feel lethargic, and partially because I've been lazy and haven't made good decisions. I want that to change! I feel that eating healthier will help me get off of the steroids I am on, and I figured that a juice fast couldn't hurt as long as I did it in a healthy way, so today is day One for me!

Hello, my name is Jessica. I saw Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead about a month ago. The movie really hit home, I never completely feel well, I am always fatigued, and would like to not only feel healthier but have more energy. I grew up in a vegetarian household so I am not only doing a 60 day fast but plan on continuing afterward with a pescetarian eating plan. I think my biggest hurdle will be my job, I not only work nights but I work in a fast food establishment, so a 60 day juice fast while working around food all night may be difficult. I start my fast March 25th.

Hi, I'm Debra
I'm here because I want to do a juice fast and I need support. I'm going to 'officially' start tomorrow, March 10, 2012.
I have a LOAD of weight to lose and I'm hoping that a fast will be the kick start to a healthier lifestyle and to healthier eating habits.

All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night, in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was all vanity. But the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes , to make it possible. ~T.E. Lawrence~

Hello! Jai here. I am on day 5. I'm not sure how long I will fast, but I'm already feeling all of the benefits so I may continue for at least 30 days. Watched Fat, sick and nearly dead as well. I think this is a great way for me to get back on track. I think when I break my fast. i will have more self control and be wise with portions and what I choose to eat.

Hi! I'm newly returning to Spark after being away for quite awhile. I was very excited to see a small team of people on the 60 day juice fast. I have watched Fat, Sick...about 5 times in the past few months...loved it, loved it. But the time never felt right for me to start...until now. I am currently about to start into my 8th day on the fast. I have decided to take it in 10 day increments with hopes of getting to the 60 day mark. My reasons for doing so are first and foremost for my health. I feel my body needs this time to rest, refresh, repair, and reboot. I have a good bit of knowledge about healthy eating & lifestyle, but have also struggled with food addiction, medicating, yo yo dieting and binging seems like all of my life. I have also been moving towards a more plant-based diet. I am currently vegetarian. I have juice fasted in the past for up to a week. I'm so glad to be here and to share this experience!
