I've been overweight most of my adult life. I've gone to a gym a few times, here and there, but never stuck with it for more than a few weeks. I started a new job in February, and they have a gym onsite. If you log 450 minutes of activity a month, the gym is free. I started going in March and so far I'm averaging about 1200 minutes of activity a month! At first it was just the sense of accomplishment when I had finished a workout that kept me going. Now, I go because I feel better when I'm active. I'm working with a trainer and I've lost 33 pounds and about 20 inches in the last 8 weeks! I used to have a lot of knee pain, and have had surgery to shave cartilage before. Now I almost never have knee pain.
Also, my entire family is diabetic and we have all struggled with high cholesterol. 2 weeks ago I went for my physical. My A1C is 4.9 and the doctor says as long as I keep doing what I'm doing, I'm not at risk for diabetes! Also, my cholesterol has dropped to 137 total!
It never gets easier... I just get stronger!
