Hi,

My name is Callie and I have 55 lbs to lose. I am off to a great start with SP. I have lost 5lbs already! I am hitting a little plateau so I am looking into MORE ways to challenge myself.

I am currently doing two official SP challenges.

SP Official Healthy Cooking Challenge (in week THREE) and SP Official 'Eat Up, Slim Down' Challenge (in week THREE)

Here are the changes I have made so far:
1. Planning meals now
2. Drinking 2.2 L of H2O per day
3. Keeping fruit in bowls throughout my house
Lastly, Tracking my food calories with (wow....lots of work there, but gotta do it!) week one of SP Official 'Eat Up, Slim Down' Challenge
4. Working out every day;-) AND sharing on SP about it;-)

Hi all! I joined Sparkpeople again this past January 2014. I have lost over 20 pounds since I restarted the program. My short-term goal is to loose at least 2 pounds per week, but I won't beat myself up if I don't. My long-term goal is to loose 100 pounds so I can get off some or all of my medications emoticon emoticon

Hi! I've been a sparkpeople member since 2008.I never really used the site very well but now that I'm getting more familiar with it I love it. My sister recently joined and what a motivator emoticon I have lost 3 pounds in the past 3 weeks! I'm about 30 pounds overweight and my body feels it. I would love to feel lighter and less weighed down. Getting to know my nutritional habits is great thanks to tracking.Getting and staying healthy is my main goal emoticon

Hi! My name is Ashley and I am 27 years old. I have two beautiful girls and a wonderful husband. I have been a Spark member for years but haven't been active for the past two years. I had my youngest daughter a year ago and have been struggling with making healthy choices ever since. I just want to be at a healthy weight and have more body confidence. I will be weighing in on Mondays.

I'm Jen, 42 years old, mother of two awesome kids, and have been using SP on and off for a couple of years now. Since 2006 I lost 97 lbs, but the last 14 weren't come by quite honestly - in 2011, I had a combination of surgery and some disordered eating that dropped my weight too low for me to maintain.

I turned 40 and went back to college in fall 2011 (in addition to working full-time and doing the single mom thing), and much to my chagrin, 35 lbs have steadily yo-yo'd back on since then.

I don't want to get back to my lowest weight, because I've struggled with bulimia and compulsive eating since I was a teenager, and it was too easy to slip back into really unhealthy patterns to attain that number. Now, I'm taking control of my weight and want to lose 18 of the 35 I've regained. My goal weight is a "sweet spot" that is maintainable without drastic measures, where I look healthy and fit, and where I feel confident and comfortable no matter what I'm wearing (or not emoticon - I have an amazing guy with whom we're starting a new chapter of our lives in a few months).

I know this might be the hardest weight I've ever lost, because there won't be any crash dieting, over-exercising, or living on Red Bull and PowerBars for weeks at a time. I haven't ever treated myself and my body with the respect I deserve, but with age comes wisdom, and I know it's time to be the confident, happy, lovely person I was always meant to be.

On the plus side, I've discovered that I love exercise, so that won't be tough for me. But I want - well, need - to make friends with the vegetables in my life, as well as do a better job of eating at regular times of the day, put the kibosh on evening snacking, and find that delicate balance of enjoying things like cheese, ice cream and burgers from time to time - but not overindulging in them.

I'll be weighing in on Friday mornings so I can feel motivated to keep it together over the weekends, when I tend to throw caution to the wind.

Hi my name is Karen and I am a returning Sparky!
I lost 20 pounds years ago. Then slipped away. I have Lupus and take prednisone which has recently been increased significantly. I have used that as an excuse to gain some 30 pounds. I now weigh in at 203.5. The highest in my up and down career with weight loss.
Tracking and being accountable is the only way I have ever been successful.
Everything Counts!
I can control what I put in my mouth even if I am on steroids. I am going to be on the Tuesday weighing group.
Melissa..we share the same anniversary. If I wanted to get down to what I weighed on 7/18 when I got married I would have to lose 60 pounds...and who knows maybe I will!

Hi, my name is Pam. I rejoined SP on 3/13/14 (about a month ago) simply because I have been stalled in losing weight for 7 1/2 months and I just felt that when I belonged before, I was losing weight and the structure provided here was what made the difference.

I am going to say something that is long debated but I believe is true. The scales still have the last "say" in how well you are doing with your food plan and your exercising. I say this because I like to exercise more than I like to monitor what I put in my mouth. In fact, in the past I have over-exercised simply to cover bad food choices. I want to quit fooling myself with this destructive habit and so I am working harder on my food plan with doing my best to get the cardio in.

By withdrawing from sugar this past week, I finally saw the scales go from 255.6 lbs this past Monday to a current 249.8 lbs. today (Friday). I still think I will join the Monday weigh in simply because I do that with another group and I want to keep these numbers consistent and straight.

Glad to be here and I look forward to losing more weight.

Pam

Lots of what Melissa said applies to me too! I'm Andrea, single mother by choice to two girls, aged 3 and 6. A WW dropout because I'm done with the fees too. I've been on Spark 25 days so far and lost 7 lbs, which I'm THRILLED with. It has been a long time since I've really lost any weight or tried very hard, but now I'm feeling quite motivated and I really like Spark so far. I find the tracking very easy (much easier than the WW points) and am working hard to find community here as well.

I'm going to make Friday my weigh-in day and hope this forum will help me stay accountable and cheer me on. I started at 231, my short-term goal is 200, and my long-term goal is 180. And then I'll reassess. For now that seems like plenty.

Hi I am Melissa, I am a 46 Year old, working mom (step) of 6 boys ages 7-25. I have spent too much time worrying about everybody else and stress eating. So now it is my time to focus on me a little bit.

I just started with Sparkpeople this week. I am a WW dropout I just couldn't stomach the fees anymore. So far I like the Sparkpeople website much better. I am going to make Friday's my Weigh In Day and hope to use this forum to keep myself accountable. My end goal is to get down to 140 lbs (from a beginning weight of 208) with a sub goal of being down to 169 by my 10th wedding anniversary trip 7/18/14 (which was what I weight the day we got married). I am down almost 15 lbs since I began dieting on 1/2/14.

I hope this forum will help me stay motivate by allowing me to help motivate others.

Hi. I'm Shelleigh. I'm 44 years old. I am here to begin my journey to losing 66 lbs, managing my RA and hormones as I head toward menopause, and just generally looking forward to feeling fabulous! I do know myself, though, and I'm going to need to be held accountable. This is where I plan to do that.

My name is Jim. I am 58. I have a history of lifelong struggle with my weight and health. About 5 years ago I had a couple of TIA (small) stokes and did not do well with therapy or acknowledging my problems. I had gotten up to over 400 pounds before I started to lose. (I do not know an exact weight because I refused to check (couldn't weigh myself anyway). I lost about 120 pounds on my own (without any guidance or help), then started slowly inching my way back up.

Now, I am using SparkPeople.com and have joined my wife in her quest to become healthier. Together, we hope to really get this in check. Healthy is the goal.

Hello everyone. My name is Patrick. Im 34 years old, Married and wanting to start a family. If i was to say how good i felt about myself id say not so much. My wife and i have been trying to get in shape since we got married 3 years ago in May. We both have our goals but we are each others worst enemies when it comes to diet and exercise. We both love the same foods so when one of us says im hungrey and we dont want to cok we go out and eat. We want to break this cycle. So im starting now. I have tried before and had some success. i started at 210 lbs in 2012 and am currently at 180 but i still have alot of fat to lose and some more weight to lose.

Hello! My name is Michelle. I am 27. I have been married to my husband for 8 1/2 years. We have 3 children, 5, 4, and 2. They are a joy and a pain hehe. Love them dearly though of course. We live in the Kansas City area. I am currently getting my Master's degree in Business Administration. I graduate in December. I have been heavy most of my life and have tried going on diets on and off my entire adult life. My husband and I decided to give it a real shot this time though. I started at 269 and I currently weigh in at 245. I am happy about my progress and am looking forward to reaching my mini goals.

Hi everyone. my name Angela.
I am not new to Sparkpeople, however, I am new to this group. I have been struggling alone for awhile trying loose weight on my own. I finally realized that I needed support to help to loose the weight, but I knew that I could not afford Weight Watchers or other Weight loss support groups nor do I have much time after working and being a single raising a pre-teen on my own. My biggest challenge is emotional eating, I eat when I am stressed or depressed. I am hoping that we can help etch other not just reach our weight loss goals, but also our life goals. emoticon

Spent the winter gaining back half of the lbs. I lost last year. I'm in need of some inspiration to stop it now and get back to taking it off again. I'm hoping posting to the weigh in will spark a little discipline.

Hi, my name is Tania and I am 32 years old. My weight has been a problem for me a long time, I just can't seem to get it under control. I goals are to get to a healthy weight and to stay in control of it. This time around I have the support of my mother, sister and Sparkpeople. I am dealing with Hypothyroidism, depression and my husband is not supportive. I have already started some life changing goals, I walk to work every morning and back in the afternoon. I have taken up Rollerblading, joined a gym and I play basketball with my kids. I am scared of failing again and proving my husband right. I really pray for success and staying motivated. emoticon

I have been a member for a while and lost quite a bit of weight initially, but dropped out of sight due to depression. I came back about 7 or 8 weeks ago and feel I have a good handle on the nutrition part. Still trying to overcome my childhood aversion to exercise. I love to swim and can't wait for the pools to open up in a few weeks. We don't have any indoor ones in a 40 mile radius. I am doing chair exercises and have joined a local group that does an hour of chair exercises for people with arthritis. I am looking forward to losing they weight for good this time. I love this site!

I am new to the team. I've been a member of Spark People since 2009-ish and I've tried losing weight in the past, but never successfully lost the weight. I recently made the commitment to lose weight for health reasons. I am committed this time and I have made progress thus far. I am still new to the different aspects of the site and I love the motivation factor we get from interaction on Spark People.

Greetings from the northeast!
I have been a member of Spark People since 2011. I had been diagnosed with MS in 2007. I knew I had to make changes to my diet and non-existent exercise program. I was constantly letting everyone and everything derail me from my goals until February last year. I finally got serious and I began losing weight and gaining energy and focus. I started back in college in late January and once I became extremely busy with my classes and work, my diet took a backseat. Now, this year, I'm back where I started. I don't have any energy or focus and I have gained back most of the weight I lost last year. This year, I'm determined to stick to my goals. I graduate from college in September 2015 and I want to look and feel my best.

Greetings from Cee-Lou in Seattle!
Heard about SparkPeople a few years back, looked it up online and was intrigued...and THEN what happened?? Since then I've lost the same 20-plus pounds 3 times, never get the last 10 or 12 off and, predictably, gain most of it back. After my first week using the Spark program online I'm down 4 lbs. (Mon. weigh-in) and under 200 again where I'm determined to stay forever!!! I, like many others it seems, have been derailed by health issues. In my case, injuries from trying to get in shape! Torn elbow tendon working with a trainer at a gym...a year and 1/2 with limited use of arm until finally surgery. Meanwhile I was doing so much lower body stuff trying not to lose the progress I'd made that I developed periformis syndrome so I have a major "pain in the butt" if I walk too much, do ZUMBA, squats, stairs, etc. which keeps me awake at night. But I'm determined to overcome so cheer me on, Y'all! emoticon

It's what you do NEXT!

I am a long time Spark member but really never seem to be successful as I can't seem to get my mind straight. I start out strong and fade quickly. I am a junk food junkie and a very picky eater. I have had several medical issues since September and then broke my ankle on Christmas morning and had surgery in January so exercise has been almost nothing for the last 6 months. I need the accountability of this group. I live in Colorado, 54 and the grandmother of 4 of the most beautiful grandchildren.

hey Kevin--my biggest obstical is NATTY light so I feel your pain. Just step away from the beer, try lemon-lime flavored sparkling water(no sweetners) and tell yourself that beer will still be for sale AFTER you've hit your happy weight. Good luck!

Hi everyone...I'm Sharon, 72 years young, and back at Spark people after a year-long hiatus. I have had health issues and use a walker outside for mobility. I do fine around the house. I hope to shed the walker in a couple of months as I become more healthy and fit. I'm not making excuses for my weight, only that it is 99% my fault. Can't blame genetics or anything, because I probably would. Hope to get to know some of you better as time goes on. Wishing all of you much success in your journey. emoticon

Hello,

I am in,Ottawa, ON and back on Spark after loosing nearly 60 lbs in time for my wedding in October of 2011. Afterwards I let my new job and 'life' get in the way and be the excuse for not sticking with my new life plan. NO more...I call this chapter of my life Part 2. Two active kids and a wonderful supportive husband keep me motivated.

I started again mid-January and feel so empowered and in control with the tracking tools. I enjoy sharing my weekly weigh-ins (for me Wednesday weigh-in) to keep me accountable.

Good lock to all.

Hi Everyone, I'm not new to SP, but like others out there, I started, lost some weight, allowed life to get in the way, lost motivation, and quit using SP. I have started back again, fully committed, and at the heaviest I have ever been. I am looking for daily check-ins and the accountability that goes with it. I just need to keep going. I am a 45 year old mother of 2 very active boys living in northern British Columbia and looking to be accountable!

One step at a time, one day at a time - consistent, strong and balanced. Changing my lifestyle for the better.

Hi everyone!
My name is Diana. I currently live on Mtn. Home AFB in Idaho. I am 29 yrs. old, a SAH wife and mother, and a veteran of the AF.
I was comfortable and happiest with my body when I was active duty! Unfortunately I was medically retired due to serious health issues and have been fighting my body for the last 3 1/2 years. But with a great team of doctors I have finally gotten my symptoms under control and have a decent quality of life! Because of the rollercoaster that has been my health, the multiple hospital stays, ER visits, and mandatory bed rest. I have gained a whopping 70lbs and I am not happy.
emoticon

But I am hoping that this will be a thing of the past this time next year! My doctor has cleared me to workout, yeah!! I am definitely ready to begin this long journey to the new/old me.

Hello my name is Noel and I'm 36 years old. I live in California with my 2 kids ...Zen (9) and Carly (5) and our zoo of animals. We have Lilly our Chocolate Lab, our kitties Luca, Willa, Stella, and Gloria, our Betta fish Dreyfuss, and our lizard Jake. I'm currently a stay at home mom awaiting weight loss surgery and hernia repair. Before that I was a customer service manager at a retail store and a tow truck dispatcher for 10 years. I've also slowly been working my way to my college degree in Wildlife Biology but it's a very slow process.

I've been overweight my entire life. I've struggled and been on most every diet known to man and even created some of my own. I finally decided that enough was enough. I decided to start eating better with smaller portions and exercising a lot with my son. I eat 3-4 small meals a day and maybe a snack. I have approximately 6-10 servings of fruit and veggies, very lean protein, whole grain carbs but minimally, and about a 1/2 gallon of water a day. I try to stay away from all junk food and soda and use Splenda in moderation. As far as exercise since I have a very large hernia we've been mostly walking and doing some light weight work 7 days a week. I walk in 3 sessions daily. Each session is approximately 2-2.5 miles. I work each body part separately per night.

I started at 326 pounds and I am now 295. I have gone down two pants sizes as well. Right now weight loss surgery is still in the works....but to be honest my thinking and emotions have changed so drastically I'm not even sure I still need it.

My goals are above all else is to be healthy and be a good example for my kids. I would like to be around 18% body fat and 120 pounds because I would really like to start jogging 5ks, doing mud runs with my son, and doing Cross Fit.

Every journey of a 1000 miles begins with one step Nothing feels better then believing in myself.

Hi, this is Dawn. I love the idea of being held accountable for my actions so here I am. A co-worker introduced me to SparkPeople in 2007, but my life had gotten so crazy that I forgot about it. Then I re-discovered SparkPeople about a month ago and have been going strong ever since. I would like to stay strong and I know that the only way to do this is with the encouragement of a support group. I have a lot of interests that I would like to start making time for such as gardening, knitting, sewing, and watercolor, however, now is the time that I choose to focus on my health.

Hey everyone! I am very excited to be a part of Spark People!! It is very good for me to be accountable - even if it's a computer :) I am a 42 year old, mother of 3, living in Texas - we have a small farm. I enjoy gardening, quilting, researching genealogy, reading, and playing with our animals. We home school so it offers a lot of time to be outside. I look forward to hearing how we all lose weight and get healthy!!

Hi, my name is Debbie. I've used SparkPeople in the past, but have gotten way off track due to a couple of injuries that left me sitting around a lot feeling sorry for myself. These injuries eventually led to me retiring from my job sooner than I planned, and with the winter we've had, I had little ambition to leave the house at all. My weight has climbed, and I am now getting back into tracking everything and gaining my life back. I'm starting to exercise with dvd,s and I've put an exercise bike in my living room, and as soon as the ice is gone outside, I will be walking my dog a lot so we both get exercise. This time I'm going to succeed, and stay there!

Spark member since Jan 13 and starting to discover more and more about the site. Getting so much out of logging in and having fun watching my points stack up. Lost 14 pounds since I joined but more importantly getting much healthier and stronger. While I like the Non scale victories, nothing beats seeing the numbers drop. Looking forward to joining the weekly weigh ins

Hope that I'm posting this correctly! I'm not very good with the Message Boards.

I'm Staci from Iowa. I've been a member of SparkPeople off and on since 2009. I'm a big fan and am finally down 20 lbs so far just since this past August. I'm sure that shoveling all of the snow this winter was a big help to lose some of the weight! ;0) I'd still like to shed a few more!

Hi there and thank you for the welcome. I am very happy to have the use of the SparkPeople website & the support of the community members.
I have a fair ways to go, I have a short term goal of 50 lbs by November, but my long term goal is 150 lbs, Maybe more we'll see.
This past year has probably one of worst years for weight gain. But surely not the only culprit. Over the past few years the weight has really gotten out of hand.
I'm sure nearly every single one of us has obstacles to losing weight. Mine is mobility, even though I'm only 56 years old I walk with a rollator & can only stand for 5-10 minutes at a time with out having severe back pain & my legs feeling like they are about to give out. I have a few medical conditions the get in the way, but also would get so much better with losing weight. My health and lack of mobility & abilities are what has played the biggest part to me starting my diet. I use to LOVE to dance nothing special mind ya, but it's probably what I miss the most. Getting out & dancing. I really believe I wouldn't be here for many more years if I continued on.
I have also joined the Chair Exercise Group & I hope that will help. I have also read somebody's post about bed yoga I might be interested to try. I've tried yoga in the past & liked it until I hurt myself doing it.
But anyway. Hello to everyone, glad to be here. I would love to hear from you all. ( let's see, there are how many members emoticon lol)

Hello everyone, first day in this team.
My name is Alexandra, I've been in Sparkpeople since Aug 2013 but was in Feb this year when I finally became active. This is moment to achieve my goals of losing all extra weight. I deserve a healthier and longer live and I'm the only one that can do it for me.
So far I've lost 12 lbs, now I weighed 218 lbs and want to be under 200 lbs for my birthday in June 23rd, I committed to it but not hurry: one step at time.

I would love to find new friends for mutual support and motivation.

As a Diabetic, Tracking is second nature to me. The problems I have been introduced to this week have not been on the upside. My BFF pasted away this morning and Thursday night I received a call saying that one of the grand-daughters had attempted to end her life.
Therefore, try as I may, snacking calm's me down way more than I want.

Greetings from Kentucky! My name is Michele an I have been with Spark since March of 2011.
Last November, right before Thanksgiving I suffered a major heart attack and was told that I was lucky to be here at all. Since being in rehab, it seems I have become an emotional eater and have gained the weight back that I had lost in 2011. I popped in here as I need to get that accountability back and get that weight off for once and always. With any luck an encouragement "Hope" to have progress in that goal by Mother's Day.

My name is Zelma and I have been a member of Sparkpeople since 2006. I lost the weight, got pregnant and gained it back. This time, I have to get it off and be healthy for my family and more importantly, my husband. I have to be his motivation to loose his weight. I will be doing my first official weigh in tonight so here's hoping for a decent number!!

Hi there! My name is Brittni and Iím brand new to Sparkpeople!

My weight loss has been an ongoing journey my entire life. In 2011 I decided to get serious about weight loss and get my health back under control. Iím happy to say that I have successfully lost about 70 pounds since December 27, 2011. At the beginning of my journey I was 278 pounds at only 21 years old. I was doing great with the weight loss journey until I graduated from college last May. Being in college kept me accountable. It was easy to work out at all different times of the day and for extended periods of time. Unfortunately, now Iíve been dumped in the real world with a 9a-6p desk job. With that being the case, Iíve fallen into a very lazy routine that consists of very little exercise and very poor eating habits.

Since I moved out of my college environment, Iíve gained about 13 pounds. Definitely in a short amount of time too. I was maintaining my weight until about three months ago. With that being the case, Iíve decided to get back on track. I know tracking my food and calorie intake keeps me on track and accountable for all the calories Iím putting into my body. I also know that I need to get back on a workout routine. Although Iíd love to spend two hours in the gym a day, I know thatís very unrealistic. I plan on spending atleast an hour in the gym every day except Sundayís.

My weigh in days will be on Sunday Ė simply because I wonít blow the entire weekend eating and drinking crappy foods.

I did hop on the scale today and it read 213.6. Definitely not happy with that number considering I weighed nearly 14 pounds less than that not too long ago.

Hi everyone. I am not new to spark but I am new to this team. I have lost over 42 pounds so far unfortunately I did this in 2 months because I was sick. I had a lot of health complications that led me to being on a ventilator and having a heart attack. I am finally starting to feel better and I have reached that point where I am not losing any more weight so now I need to exercise. I would still like to lose 60 pounds and be healthier and hopefully be able to come off some of my blood pressure medications. I am only in my 30's but have the health problems of a much older a person. I am ready to change a lot of my old habits and start over.

Good Morning, I am Michele. I'm trying hard to take care of myself , but its alot of hard work that i really try not to do.. I get bored with doing things that i know are making me feel better. My Dr. told me i need to go out of the house 3 times a day and do something. I need to make friends which i have non here in Killeen, Texas. I have lived here 2 years and know no one. Me & my Fiancee are starting the DASH diet soon. I need to drop my Blood Pressure and i have a history of heart issues including myself.. I'm only 45. I had my first heat attack at 42, it was a mild one.. but it scared me. Yes i have a sweet addiction, I'm also a salad dressing Hog. Just doesn't taste right without it. But i have to learn how to control myself with eating less.

My biggest obstacle is sugar. The only way I really kicked it this time was "cold turkey" I can't/won't eat just a little. You can do this. The long journey starts with the first step. Tracking food and exercise really has been key for me.

My new motto: Tired of starting over? Stop quitting!

In my mid 30's I started walking and in 18 months I went from 194 to 160 and kept the weight off for about 3 years through weighing and continuing to walk several times a week. I am now 68 and weigh 145.8 this morning. During those 25+ years I have gone up and down by about 10-15 pounds but never back to my high. I have osteoarthritis in most of my joints and severe to moderate disc degeneration in my spine. I need to be at about 140 maybe even 135. I now go to the gym 6 days a week to ride the recumbent bike and three days of weights. I had a total knee replacement in 2013 and I do not want to go through that again. I plan to stay active until I die. I love SP. Tracking food ha helped me take off 6 pounds since the last of December 2013.

My new motto: Tired of starting over? Stop quitting!

Hi All,

At the end of last June I decided I had to start moving. I began walking regularly and have dropped 38 pounds. This is the first time in my life that I have actively worked to improve my health and lose weight.

My initial goal was to reach a healthy BMI. That goal was achieved mid-January. My new weight goal is 160 lbs. My fitness goal is walk 20 miles per week. My step goal is 10,000 steps per day. My nutritional goal is to stay within the established ranges set by the Nutrition Tracker at least 80% of the time along with the Quick Tracking goals for water, fruits/vegetables, and sleep.

I have been tracking what I eat for the past 2 months. Prior to this time I had never routinely tracked my caloric intake.

For the first couple of decades of my adult life I maintained a healthy weight. In my mid to late 30's my weight began to climb. It had been a steady, decades long climb until June 2013. At that point, I took action.

The weight loss has been slow and steady and I feel so much better. Will I return to the weight of my early adult years? I do not know. What I have learned from this site is that it will be an ongoing journey of discovery requiring commitment and effort on my part.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself. I am a 45 year old gramma of 4 (so far). I love to read anything I can get my hands on. I love horror and sci-fi/fantasy movies. I knit and crochet (typical gramma stuff lol but I love it). I have 3 kids - the oldest is a girl (26) and mom to all 4 of the grandkids - she should really slow down, makes me feel so old LOL. She has said that she wants enough kids to have her own hockey team! I think she's crazy, personally. emoticon I also have 2 boys (22 and 20, respectively - no grandkids from them, yet, thankfully). I'm originally from Florida, but had moved to freezing upper Minnesota and lived there for 12 years. When I decided I had enough of freezing my tail off, I told the grandkids I was "moving back to Florida, with all the other grammas and grampas" LOL. Anyway, I gained a LOT of weight while I was up there. My heaviest was 260. When I started this way of life/eating (I don't want to say "diet" because it's a self defeating word) on Jan. 12, 2014, I was 234. Today, Feb. 23, 2014, I am 218, which is 16 pounds lost! Yay! Anyway, that's me, nice to meet ya'll!

Hi everyone, my name is Holly and I'm trying to get to a healthy weight by the time I turn 30 on Nov. 28th. I have tried other calorie counting websites in the past and lost a little weight, but then I became depressed and and gave up and ended up gaining it all back and then some. I am feeling pretty confident that I will succeed this time.

HI, I'm new here and just posted in the main intro thread so I will just cut and paste it to here.
My weigh in day will be on Saturdays.

Hello all, I'm Maggie from Canada and my sister found and offered me a link to this site. I recently decided (accepted to start) to get active and do something about my growing scale number. I was about 25lbs over weight and about 10 of it was since November (that is crazy; so/too many chocolate gifts at work and too many chips at night (I love chips!!)). So finally I set my mind to do something; that was in Mid January, since than I have lost about 5lbs (so about a pound a week; I wanted more but it's really hard Not to eat lol). I was tracking at another site but I really think I will like this one as it offers so much. Thanks Spark for that!! :)

I have started (about a month ago) to go to the gym (I have not really done any exercise since 2007. eek..
I have seen/felt results so I am on the right track. But I definitely need help. I hope to find some friends to offer me support and keep me on the straight and narrow ha ha pun intended for the narrow part :P

I have a question but maybe I will find a better place to post it. I thought an introduction is always in order as post #1. I've just added my measurements (eek) and can not find how to add chest measurements into my tracking; it offers everything but chest. And it offers how/where to measure your chest but no box to put the results into.

about me, I am a wife and mother of 3 handsome boys. They are spring babies soon to be 22, 20, and 15. All in school and all living at home (again). I am busy as I love to cook and keep them happy. We eat well rounded meals and I have always cooked healthy (very little fried foods etc). Now I make "More" sure we have good healthy veggies and more fruit in the house. I work outside the home as well so food prep can be tricky.

any and all advice and comments are always appreciated; PM me (if that is possible here) anytime.

Say something funny, I love to laugh!! :D :D

CHeers from Canada,
Maggie :)

My name is Christina, I have been struggling with my weight ever since I had my youngest daughter, she is now 23 years old, it did not help of course going through menopause when everything changes body composition included. I am now 53 years old have three children and two grand children and would like nothing better than to drop 10% of my body weight before my son's wedding in October. At the moment my weight is fluctuating and really not getting anywhere, it is like one step forward and two steps back. But I am not a quitter so I keep persevering one day my body will do what I want it to do and release the weight. I am studying still doing two diplomas one in Nutritional Medicine and the other in management.

Hello all!

My name is Lisa. I'm here because I finally realized I need to do something about my weight. I am at the highest I have ever been. I am not healthy and I don't feel comfortable in my own shoes. I want to feel healthy and happy. I've had a history of up and downs with weigh toss but I always give up when I get in a rut. I'm in a rut now and this time I do not want to give up. I had my first weigh in today. I am starting this journey at 271. I am ready to make a change. There is no weigh loss this week because it is my first but I hope to come back next week and share some positive news. If anyone out there has been a rut and would like to form a friend with me so we can motivate each other please feel free to add me. I will be working on my Sparkpage later today.

Good luck all!

Hi my name is Patty, I am 49 years old and a type 2 diabetic. In July I will be the big 50. I've lost some weight, maintained that loss, and have just been holding in the 220's. In January I've reenergized myself to start again taking off the rest of my weight. I am following a low carb program, and my big plan is to lose 50 lbs by my 50th birthday. My day to day plan is to keep good foods in the house, journal my food and to keep healthy blood sugars.

Saturday will be my Weigh In Day. For the month of January I am down 6 lbs. I have also been able to stop my meal time insulin because my sugars have been in such a good place.

Good luck to all

Patty

Hi, my name is Lisa and I've been a member on SP for a few years, but never very active until this past January. On 1/1 I signed up for a 10k to be run on 3/29 to give me the motivation to keep me going. I am doing the run/walk method and am running a little less than half the time at this point. I never had to watch what I ate or drank until about 8 years ago and the pounds just started adding up. Now I would like to lose about 65 pounds. I am not following any particular diet, just eating healthier and exercising several times a week. Good luck everyone!

Lisa

I can do this. It's great to have your support!

Hi my name is Karen. I have been a member since 2008. I was a Weight Watcher at the time. I lost 35 lbs on WW. Then my mom got sick with cancer. I have been struggling with depression ever since. This past summer my sister also got cancer. I have decided to stop putting my self on the back burner and start living my own life. No more pity party! I gained back all the weight I had lost and then some. I restarted in January and have lost 4 lbs. My focus is going to be on living a healthy lifestyle instead of driving my self crazy with the scale. I will take each day one at a time.

Hi my name is Jody. I am new to the team. Have been on SP for a couple of years but not active. I am forcing myself every day to sit down and be active on this site. Looking for motivated people to be my friends. I am on week 2 and doing well. I need to exercise more. I am about to start job number 2 and will be working 65 hours per week. I am going to try my hardest to make sure that I get my meals prepared early for each day as I will be away from home for 16 hours a day. I have two major goals set. May 2015 my daughter graduates with her teaching degree from college and I want to be 50 pounds lighter. My second goal is May 2017 when my youngest son graduates high school. I wan to have lost the full 114 pounds and have it well maintained by that time. I know I can do it. It is a daily struggle to not only eat the proper food and exercise but to eat at all. I find myself not eating and well of course the body just holds the weight at that point. Look forward to sharing my success with all of you as our journey brings us the to lighter healthier "US".

Well, I am back after a divorce and a pity party. I let things get out of control and in the heartache forgot that I deserved better. I was so happy with myself when I was here from 2010 to 2011 so I decided I needed to come back. Hugs and love to all and let's kick February's tush!

Hi Loratta, I hope you are feeling better today. My name is Rosa and I joined Spark at the beginning of the year. I know how you feel. When I was younger, I never paid attention to what I ate, there was no limit to the food I ate. One day, I had some blood drawn for a test and I can see a white substance in the lab tube, it was probably a lot of fat. I got scared since blood is supposed to be red, no white material is supposed to be seen with the naked eye. I started to really pay attention to my diet and in no time, the white stuff disappeared. I have a goal to go down to 150 pounds for my coming birthday in April and it has been a slow but steady journey. Following the diet outlined in this program is a great way to start. Do portion control, weight everything you eat and most important, track it in the tools provided on this site so you can have an idea of what you eat in any given day. Stay away from fried food, and all the processed food in the supermarket. Limit your fast foods, if you frequent these places. I know its hard when you have young kids, but cook at home whenever you have the time. Opt for a lot of veggies and fruits (don't know if you are diabetic, but this site provides you with a great diabetic diet.) Hope to hear from you soon.

Don't let what you can't do get in the way of what you can.

Hi I'm Loratta and I'm unhealthy and need help. I hit my bottom yesterday when I was told my blood was took thick from all the fat in it that they could not complete the blood test I needed. It was like a slap to my face. I am knocking on the door of a heart attack. I lack a real support group, motivation and the know how.

I AM WORTH THIS!
