Welcome! I am new here too and still finding my way around. It seems the perfect place for motivation. Just remember as the others have said that this has to be a life change. You didn't gain the weight overnight and you won't lose it that way either.

April - 35yr 5'10" mom of two teen boys :)

331.2 lbs 02.21.11 (start) size 28W-30W jeans
230.0 lbs 07.30.12 (current) size 16W

Progress 101.2 lbs - 30.6% of my original weight ;)
Starting BMI 47.52 extreme obesity .... Current BMI 33.1 "simply" obese - much closer to overweight than extreme obese now!!

Hello and welcome! We are so glad you joined us on this wonderful site. Lots of info here but it might get overwhelming. Just take it slow and ask as many questions as you want. Don't ever think any question is dumb. Because if it is something you want to know we will sure try to find the correct answer.
Here is a link for starting out.

Hi - welcome to SP - this is a great place to get the business done, and also to make friends on the way!

It sounds to me like you may be wanting results RIGHT NOW!!! Well, that isn't how this works. It is best to make gradual changes - only one or two to start with, and allow your mind/body to get used to the changes before adding something else to the mix. This is really the ONLY way that you will make that healthy lifestyle change, a "REST of your life" change!!

This is NOT about deprivation, starvation, excessive work-outs, under-eating etc. It is about portion control MOST of the time, eating ALL of your meals, and eating within the calorie range give MOST of the time. It is about adequate hydration, mostly with water, and an appropriate amount of exercise.

You are best off to aim for a small loss each week, rather than 4-5lb or more. The faster losses go back on just as fast if not quicker, and then some. The bigger losses are also not healthy for our mind/body. You have more chance of the saggy, baggy skin being left.

Make sure that you use the Nutrition Tracker, because only then will you know where your calories are coming form, and give you the ability to tweak your intake as and when necessary.

If you have any questions just ask - hopefully we will be able to answer them, but if not will direct you to where you CAN get the answers.

Take care
Kris

I want to lose. I want it now. I have done it many times in the past. I am not going
to sing the pity song. I am not giving up this time. I have goals to reach and I am so determine
to reach them. By any means necessary. I won't and can't blame it on anyone else this time.
I will focus on the real problem and that's me..I just need help to stay on this path. I have joined
the race and have a year to complete it. .. Michelle :-) Boot camp style.
