Hello Jean,

Yes there are lots of different diet plans but there is one truth about losing weight and that is to eat less calories than you burn, 80% of weight management is about nutrition so the place to focus first is on tracking your food. Include at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables is a great start and your tracker will show you the ranges of nutrients that will help you reach your goals.
It worked for me to lose 50 some pounds to eliminate processed food and eat a clean plant based diet. Follow the Spark Steps and you may either follow the suggested meal plan provided or track your own food but track. This will show you where you need to adjust.
One pound is equivalent to 3500 calories so if you can create a daily 500 calorie deficit you will lose 1 pound per week. Exercise burns calories and that will be automatically calculated to reflect your optimal ranges in your food tracker so it helps to track your workouts too.

Best of success to you and let me know if you have more questions.emoticon

Hi, I'm Jean and new to Spark and to dieting. Have managed to reach 50 without ever going on a diet. Could be why I need to lose 3 stone now. Have looked on internet for advice but other than 5 a day for fruit and veg a lot of sites seem to contradict each other. Any advice would be great.

Every journey begins with one small step
