Hi ya'al...
walking is the great exercise of all time..
it does not have to be far..it does not have to be fast
it might be a good idea to practice walking daily however..
a nice stroll can be good for your heart
it is amazing how over time you will be able to walk further with no pain & enjoy it.
be kind to yourself & gentle to your body..
did not gain in a day...sure won't loose it in a week..
so back to my ole mantra..
One Day At A Time...that is how the race is won..the goal is reached & life goes on!

Hi,
I found alot of exercises that are low impact and are still good cardio. They are out there for you to do even with a bum knee. I have an office job so the get up and moving thing needs to be down here too.

Hello everyone! I have actually "lost" four inches of height over the years, so what I thought was a "little overweight" for my former height has become "obese" for my current height. I'm finding it hard to get moving. My husband and I were walking every day until my knee started to act up, and I know that we need to continue to walk. I find it much easier to sit at the computer or knit all day!

Hi,
I am from Western New Hampshire. I am 43 and I need to lose 40 or so lbs. I join a couple of weeks ago and downloaded the app because I do not have a computer at home. I joined because I received an email suggesting I try it. I started because I was doing the bad thing and not eating over 1000 calories. I know bad, bad, bad. I am doing well at eating as much as I'm suppose to. I am also working hard at the cardio.

Hi there team - I've played around on SP off and on over a period of five years or so, but I have always quit before getting started. I'm an older mom with grown sons and a late in life surprise - a daughter who is just turning 13. I have four beautiful grandchildren and a wonderful husband who's given me two stepsons and three more awesome grandchildren. I'm here because I desperately need to get healthy. I am 60 lbs. overweight and am a pre-diabetic on blood pressure medicine. Something has to give really soon.

My problem with obesity has been a part of my life for about 30 years, and that's just way too long. As I enter the last decade of my career as an art teacher I want to end well. I am way heavier than my small frame was designed to carry! I'm tired of packing all of this around. So here I am, somewhat reluctantly-yet finally looking at myself honestly and building a new reserve to see this through. I realize that it's going to take permanent changes to my lifestyle to make it work, not just dieting to reach a goal.

I hope to encourage others along the way, but I need support and encouragement for myself. I'm hoping that being in a virtual support group will make a difference as I face this very tough battle.

Hi my name is Franek.

I thought i would say hi to the team. I have been yo yo dieting for somewhile now. I was doing great up until around Christmas time. But now i have found my self loosing a stone then putting it right back on.

I think a lot of the problem is in my head and i know this needs to be addressed if i want this to be a success. Education is going to play a big part in this lifestyle change.

A GOOD EASTER DAY TO ALL...
as this day reminds us to celebrate life - let us also count our many blessings daily.
The journey we are on to better health & better eating habits is one that will last a lifetime!
I know that by setting goals that are realistic & working toward that goal daily each & everyone of us can achieve our purpose. It will take varied dietary methods..varied exercise routines & individual focus to run the route.
so let's make everyday our best day...
if we stumble (we will)...just get up & look forward..no looking back no harsh self chastisment..just say..whoops!! & get going again!!

Hi, my name is Felicia and I am from Ohio. I am here to lose weight about 100 over something pound which I knew it would be a big challenge for me. I used to be thin, but my depression got over and could not think better. Right now I have realized I needed to lose weight because I am close to 30's which is not good and needs to be healthy. Hi Stephanie...My name is Cindy. I am brand new to SP but new to the weight lose struggle. We are at the same spot on the scale & we have the same goals. I too set mini goals...but I go even smaller...5# increments. I was excited to see someone with similarities...I too have a busy schedule...single mom, full time plus job, running teenagers. Lets encourage each other. P.S. I am from MI too. Keep keeping on.

Hello to everyone...so glad to have you here. & looking forward to working towards our goals as a team! Everyone has to find the program, the exercise & the eating style that will work for them, fortunately SP is rich with info & will certainly be an effective tool for you to reach your goals.
This is day 4 of the first week of your journey.
If you do not journal or blog..do take time to track meals, calories in & the daily report to show how you are doing on the vitamins & minerals you need for good health.
There are great videos for exercise, & many hints on how to make you favorite meal "diet friendly".. I prefer to refer to what we eat as our eating style, as it is something that will be with us for life once we make that committment to not only get some of the poundage gone..but be healthier & more fit..
it is an old WW thing but it still applies...remember :
It is better to waste-- then for it to go to waist!!
Let's all pull together ~ support our team members & Let's do this thing!!

My name is Mandi, and I'm hoping that this will be the last time I set out to make a change and give up. I've been on SP for a couple of years, but over time SP emails have made their way to my junk folder because I gave up over and over. I had my son 3 months ago, and my c-section is finally healed, so it's time to get healthy. Before getting healthy just for myself wasn't enough motivation, but I plan on being around for a long time for my little man, and I know what I need to do to get there. I actually didn't gain any weight during my pregnancy, but most of my clothes still don't fit right, and I became a crazy eater while staying home with the baby. Now is the time to fix what I've done to myself. I know I'm worth it, I just have to keep that in mind!

Hi Team! My name is Jeanne and I am a school librarian... I am two years away from the big 50 and I am determined to enter that phase of my life healthy. THe weight I gained with pregnancy is still there plus some 18 years later so it is time to take action. Love to cook and bake... perhaps that's something I need to adjust to lose some pounds too.

hi - just found out that I am pre diabetic and trying to lose just 10-15 lbs. I am a hospice nurse in upstate NY and spend a lot of time in my car and sitting, so this a challenge for me. Thankfully the sun is starting to shine more and I hope that gives me motivation to walk more. I have started to track and find it easier than I thought it would be. emoticon

Welcome all, today I am browsing my SP cookbook to find recipes I will use. There are some truely inspirational stories in there, some good recipes & some that are a bit far out for me, but all in all was worth buying.
Spark People is a place that can help you succeed, but just like WW or any other program, you get out of it what you put in.
Wouldn't it be lovely if we could in fact just wiggle our noses & reach our goals!!!!!
But since that is not likely to happen...let's get to work & do this~ ~ ~ One Day at a Time!

Hi Everyone!

I'm Erin. I'm originally for the USA but I've been living in Japan for nearly 6 years. I almost can't believe it. I love the outdoors, but want to make a better effort to get out there and enjoy! One of my goals is to run a trail race before I hit my 30th birthday in November! I'm also hoping to shed some weight by then as well.

I love reading, especially sci-fi and fantasy, and I love eating foods from different cultures! I would love to travel just to get a taste of the world!

So glad you are now part of our team.

I am Jackie, co leader with Katie.

I am from Southern California and still working, but looking forward to retiring...some day.

I have successfully shed 100 pounds, but not at goal - yet. Since joining SP, my overall health has improved and people often comment on my more positive outlook.

I enjoy travelling and it is so much easier to do since I can fit into a regular size seat. . emoticon I love SCI FI and classic who dunnit mysteries.

With SP, I am determined to reach my goal of a healthy BMI - whatever that may be in terms of weight or clothing size.
