I have finally made the decision to make ME a priority and get my life back under control. I have had so many 'excuses' for being the 'fat girl with the cute face' - heredity 'aka the family butt', my love for food (ALL food, not just junk food), too busy, etc, etc. At 41 years of age, I have realized that it is so much more difficult to lose the weight as I get older, so NOW is the time to GET RID OF THE EXCUSES!
I have the most amazing boyfriend who is equally as committed to this challenge and we are supporting each other through this. We have 4 amazing children (3 boys for me, 1 girl for him) and now we have a beautiful granddaughter - every reason in the world to get healthy and be around for a very long time.
We LOVE going to concerts, travel, kayaking, white water rafting. I would love to be able to do more hiking, biking, etc, but need to lose some pounds and increase my cardio before I am ready for that. We went to Asheville, NC last summer and I was SO UPSET with myself because I really wanted to be able to climb all the way to the top of Chimney Rock, but only made it about half way. Next time.... I WILL DO IT! :-)
My goals are to increase my activity, (we have a workout/cardio schedule established) making better nutrition choices, and am determined to lose 1-2 pounds a week. My main goal is to lose 100 pounds in a year with 135 being my 'ideal' weight (I am 5'3)
My main challenge is my attitude and maintaining my motivation. I also have some low back problems and suffered through 3-4 months of bulging discs (L4/L5) last spring so need to be cautious and stick to low-impact at least for now.
