Hi everyone! My name is Glory. I joined about a month ago, and been a colossal failure! I'm looking for daily accountability and also to be transparent about my journey. I'm 39 and am on the Journey to a New Me. My goal is to be healthy and achieve pre-pregnancy weight by my 40th birthday in November. I have about 60 pounds to go. Will post on here often as one of my goals. However, I'm off to go to Spinning class at the Y now--will let you know how badly it kicks my butt! :) Take care, everyone! Hi, I'm Christie. Joined a few weeks ago, but really started last week. Am enjoying the website and am thankful that it has so much information available and so many different kinds of tools to help us. Got The Spark and that it was really motivated me and helped me. Still some kinks to work out - such as how to huddle in a team - but having so much fun setting goals and charting my progress.

Hi, I'm 36 and encouraged to see people of all ages. I'm having a hard time getting started but working on it. Looking forward to weather that is a little more motivating. The days between snow (that we never had) melt and "warm" weather are tough.

Hi you all, I am young 53, and I need to lose 60lb. I am a walker, I can not run or bike. my left knee hurts if i do these things. But walking is good for you. So I am going to walk this weight off.

I too just finished 6 months of chemo in Dec. for non-hodgkins lymphoma. I actually gained 10 pounds during chemo. The steroids I took with chemjo once a month made me want to eat everything in sight. I didn't feel like doing anything or dieting. Taking chemo was all I could handle. I am now ready to get fit and lose weight.

Hello to all. I am new and want to say hi. I'm trying to lose another 20 lbs. and it just isn't as easy as it used to be. I walk my dog 1 1/2 miles when I get up, ride the exercise bike for 30 min. on a fairly high level 4 to 6 times a week, have cut sweets and watching what I eat and it's just going too slow. Any good ideas for snacks?

Hi All
Heard about SP from Peanut Butter and Peppers blog and joined today.
I am being treated for Breast Cancer and am done with 6 months of chemo, still have surgery and radiation to go.
For the past 6 months all I wanted was carbs and my couch. Led an active life before diagnosis and have gained weight since. Trying to get moving again. My energy is low but my spirits are high. I need to start slow but steady.

Hello All, I was on SP last year but fizzled out. I think I do best with working out, healthy nutrition and weight loss when I have someone to be accountable to. I am on a live healthy Iowa team for the 100 day challenge but most on the team are really not very excited about exercise or weight loss so it is kind of a deflating experience. I go to the gym about 4 times a week I take a rowing and an aerobic class each week and this week I hired a personal trainer. I feel like this will help me get the most out of my workouts while I am there. I start next week with the trainer so I am nervous but excited. I am a wife and mom of two young boys, all of who are very active. My husband is very competitive and is also on a weight loss and exercise journey. It is very hard to watch him lose 5-10 pounds every other week.

Greetings from Ottawa, ON Canada. I started my weight loss journey on Feb 10th but just joined SparkPeople this week. I am using the Herbal Magic program (only available in Canada I think). Between their support and the many tracker options here I'm looking forward to each little success.

My goal is very simple: to have learned, observed or built-up some experience in making healthy choices towards improving my physical health every day. The weight will come off when it is good and ready - I figure my emotions and choices got me here, they'll have to be used to get me better again.

Welcome everybody !! Good to see you all here and making a first good step to achieving your goals. The biggest piece of advice I can offer is this, There is SOOO much information, trackers, articles ect... on this site and it is definitely overwhelming !! You do not have to do it all in one day. The nutrition tracker is the best place to start as many of you will be very surprised at what you are taking in everyday. The fitness tracker is just as important to keep track of all your activities. From working out at the gym or at home to just going for a walk around the block. What ever you do for exercise can be tracked. There are videos for almost every section that will explain how to use/what to do, and watching them is a big help. Just remember like the weight loss itself, slow & steady is the way to go. Don't get overwhelmed by the scale of options on the website. You will eventually make your way around the site many times and begin to use the features that are most important to you. Lastly, always feel free to pop in our group forum and ask any questions you may have. I am new to this as well and we can all help each other out. Our team leader ( SNUGLBUNIE ) may be the first place to start. Good luck to us all !! Tony

Hi my name is Cindy. I have been on Sparkpeople since 2010 on and off...

I took my dog for a walk on Tuesday, which I don't do often, so I figured I'd get on the scale and see what it said. I tell you, I nearly died... it said 251. I SWORE I'd never let myself go that far off...

I went to the store that day, stocked up on good stuff and have done my best to improve. Being the first few days I have had times I've had a little something extra, but because I'm not all out eating whatever I want I've seen a small change in weight... so tomorrow will be my "official" weigh in... I plan to do it every Friday.. and then Monday to be sure I don't fall off track just because it's the weekend.

Good luck to everyone! I must let you know now, I could use the encouragement along the way, it's hard to do this without people being there for you. I feel alone in this, no one around me is doing it with me so I really need a good buddy to cheer me on and encourage me when I'm down.

Hi,

Today is my first day on this site. It seems amazing and even more amazing that it is free!

I am a 37-year-old single mom. My daughter is 18 and is going away to college in the fall. I currently weight 356 pounds and my goal weight is 160 pounds.

I started off about 20-40 pounds overweight, got pregnant as a teenager when I was in college and gained 86 pounds during my pregnancy (and depression). Over the years, I kept gaining.

I think it is time for me to lose weight and get healthy and start feeling like a person again.

I have not had the opportunity to really dive into the physical aspect of this yet, but entered my nutritional informatin into the computer and was more than shocked at the amount of bad things that were over limit and good things under limit. Hi, my names lulu aged 43. I have a partner and 5 children 2 still living at home.....i also have a grand daughter, i was the perfect weight until i started on my medication which has put over 60lbs on me over the last 4 years, so i have made it my goal to lose this weight this year.
Today i did the 30 day shred, 100 jumping jacks, and 5 mile walk with leslie sansone..... so far its gone really well...... i bet i'll be aching tomorrow.....lol

I am on day 3 of my personal fitness challenge and a day 2 member of Spark People. My husband and I quit smoking last week and it felt like the right moment to take control of some other aspects of my life, instead of make excuses. I, too, need accountability! That's why I'm here. I'm notorious for a strong start, and then fizzling out when I don't see results. I ran 20 minutes on Monday morning and did an hour long spin class last night. Not sure why I'm not 120 lbs yet! Just kidding, I appreciate all the support and motivation and good luck to everyone else here!

What a great way to start Rosemary :) I will have to pass on this one, but I am getting the video. I ordered it last week and I'm hoping to start it next month after I finish my 5K walk/jog program. That is if I can wait that long, hee hee. Good luck!!!

Hey!! I'm excited to return to Sparkpeople and get started!! I joined several years ago, and it looks like there are some really neat changes. I quit before because life kind of took over.

I plan on losing weight and getting healthy. I recently quit a stressful job, so now I have A LOT more time to focus on getting myself organized and fit from the inside out!

I am just- so- excited about it.. if you can't tell :o)

It would be nice to find some friends and accountability partners/ buddies to hook up with.

New to spark people too. I am 50 and for the last couple of years have gained about 50lbs on top of my excess weight I already had on. I told myself in december when I turned 50 to lose the weight and here i am still the same weight.
I read about spark people in january, even was given the cookbook as a special from my book club and just finally took the plunge yesterday and joined this morning. My goal is by summer to lose 25lbs or more.

Hi everyone. I am Cindy. Looking for support , and maybe an occasional kick in the pants as I get myself back in shape! I spent years fit and active and then had a serious cycling accident that threw me off course, between that, aging and general life stress I managed to gain 50 pounds in three years. But I am feeling ready to get my "old self" back and have lost some weight already. My biggest struggle is stress eating but I am looking at turning fifty in late July and I do not want to face that milestone out of shape and grumbling about my tight pants! My goal is to lose at least 25 pounds by then and another 15 or so afterwards.
I think we can do this.

Hello to you all and welcome. Tony here, I am a first time user @ Spark. I have been letting the pounds creep on for 15 years now and have ballooned to 360 lbs. My first goal is to get down to 300 in the next 4 months. I'm not sure if 15 lbs. a month is to big of a goal but I'm going for it ! I have joined Planet Fitness and have been doing real well at the gym. Today i went for the 3rd day in a row. I like to ride the exercise bikes and try to ride between 45 minutes and an hour. Let's make this team great !! We all have it in us and with each others help & support we can do it.

Hi my name is Amanda. And I am excited to have found this site. My life is busy like many people and I am a comfort eater. My husband and I have signed a contract to help the both of us to be accountable for our actions. I am starting tomorrow with a screening and joining a local center to help me and I plan to use this site as an additional tool to get me through the tough days. Hi everyone! I'm Kat. I'm 31 and have been on SP before, but have a problem with balance so I overdid it and burned out. Now I am back and looking for that balance as I am back in school pursuing an English degree and working part-time. Hi everyone! My name is Lindsay. I'm 27 years old, married, and have an amazing 4-month old boy, Jakob. I was already 20-30 pounds overweight when I got pregnant, and gained 100 pounds over the course of the pregnancy. I have lost 50 lbs so far..fairly easily....but have been at a stand-still for over a month now...just bought an eliptical and have been using it everyday. Food is my best friend, so big changes need to be made there...it's been a few days and I'm doing well. I'm ready to make big changes....can't wait to start this new journey.
