Definitely- and I'm a huge stress eater, so the added work definitely doesn't help! I'm going for my Master's in Psychology right now, and hope eventually to go for my PhD! My thesis is about muscularity and perceptions of body image. I'm collecting data right now and am hoping to get some good results! I'll keep you all posted:)

Hi Kelly! Graduate school can be challenging as you have late study nights and lots of stress. How smart of you to join SP to help overcome those obstacles. What is your degree program? Have you picked a thesis topic? Best of luck!

I had two C Sections as well and it does make toning my stomach harder but It was also one of my reasons for wanting to lose weight. I was tires of my stomach hanging over the scar!

Hello I am a mother of 4 kids. Two girls 13 and 2, and two boys 10 and 7! I also need to get off the baby weight. I had my last two by c section. This stomach has got to go. Maybe we can be buddies.

Hi I was actually in the wrong week team. This is the week I actually started in earnest on SP and started tracking everything. I started out needing to lose 22lbs and I have lost eight already. Just need to exercise more now.

LYDDIECAT - Welcome. Love that you are thinking of dusting off the bike! Good plan! You CAN do this!

TIDESONG - Glad you are back. Those health issues (some of them) improve with your progress here. I have been able to get off the niaspan, diovan, reduce my pressures on my bipap machine etc. I hope you will too.

Hi Team! I joined on Saturday and thought I had posted here, but no, I didn't. Ooops! There is so much great information on this site and I am easily sidetracked.

Anyway, I have never tried Spark before, but I did try another site for about a year, but never got very into it. Spark is much better and I like the message boards and blogs and SparkPages a lot. I know I am going to learn a lot from everyone here.

I am a preschool teacher, married with 2 grown step-sons. I just turned 40 last fall, which made me feel like I need to start taking better care of myself. I have a dog and 4 cats, I love to read, walk, knit, cook, and do yoga. I have a bike gathering dust in the basement and I am flirting with the idea of dusting it off this spring.

Hi! While I originally joined SP a few years ago, I did nothing with it. I've restarted now, and am happy to say that since restarting 2/29, I'm actually following through with my goals. I *will* succeed this time. I have a plethora of health issues, and I know that if I learn to take better care of myself, they won't be so bothersome. I'm hoping that with all the wonderful resources SP has, that I will indeed be successful this time!

Hi all, I'm Candice and I joined yesterday. I'm glad that I found this site because I believe it will keep me motivated. I'm glad to have found such a welcoming community to lose weight with!

A little about me, I'm from the Chicago area and I'm a single mother of one child. I'm also a student full time studying accounting. I gained my extra pounds in 2011 due to some medications I was taking that caused weight gain. I want to lose the weight but most of all I want a healthy lifestyle as heart disease and diabetes runs in my family. Very excited about this weight loss journey! :-)

Hi Garin and WELCOME! It's great to have you on the team. I'm glad you feel a new sense of motivation. Working night shift can be hard but then it can also have benefits. Many that work graveyards are not tempted by the "gang going out for lunch" and find it easier to carry their healthy lunch to work with them.

Just keep pressing on!

It's so good to see so many of you making a choice for HEALTH!

40BY0830 - Welcome - yes it is exciting to be a part of SP!

IRENEOUTWEST - My niece is 4"11 so I get the numbers. She had to go Gluten Free due to celiac disease and now weighs in at 94 lbs and is very fit. You can do it.

JESSIEDEE9069 - Spring is coming and with it lots of opportunity to get outdoor exercise.

Karen - Yeah you for being better than you used to be! That's a winning attitude! Welcome!

Kate - You look cold in your picture! Grin! You CAN do this. Are you close to the mountains?

Laura - Welcome. I love nurses. I have spend many many weeks in hospitals and RN's are the "doers" in the hospital. I really loved my night nurses. They took the time to explain things and sometimes would even chat a little if I was sleepless. You can do a HM. I know so many that do. Most walk/run them. Just work towards it bit by bit.

Lila - Welcome and congrats on such a lovely family. Pregnancy does things to our bodies - the older we are the more it does - ha! Just make a plan and stick to it. Set small attainable goals (5 lbs) and step your journey off bit by bit. You can do it.

MRSDIGGLAR - Another Texan! Glad to meet you. I know the feeling of being the biggest person in the picture. Just take it one day at a time. You can do it.

NEWMETODAY07 - Welcome! I lived in TEXAS for a decade in the Houston area. I really miss Casa Ole but kind of glad it's not close because I would overeat. HA I also miss Pappasitos!

NORWEGIANBLUE - Our whole health is so important on this journey. Just understanding where we are is a great start because then we can do something about it!

NYMOMMA2THREE - One trick you should try is to involve your kids in your fitness. Find ways to make exercise play. You can do this!

Hello everyone. My name is Lila, I married the most amazing man on July 24, 2010. A few months later, I was pregnant with my third child, who is now 7 months old. I am now 55 lbs heavier than I was when we got married just over a year and a half ago. We have very busy lives, 4 children(one Step-son): two are teens, one 8 yr. old and a 7mo. old. The three older children are all in Sports all year long, so we have very little time to cook during the week. Any healthy, very quick meal ideas are truly welcomed. I need to get back on track for my own self image, and self worth. I find that my body hurts and I'm more emotional when I am this big. I was 240lbs at the beginning of 2008, by the next summer, 2009, I was 190 lbs, then by July 24, 2010, I was 180 lbs, a size 10 and happy. My body no longer ached and my hormones weren't unbalanced. I was able to coach sports without getting winded or tired and it was great. I would love to get back to at least that, if not less. But the size 10 is my first goal so I can fit into all the cute cothes I bought when I hit that size. So here's to motivation and hard work!

Hello everyone! My name is Laura and I live in New Mexico. I am a registered nurse, married to my best friend, and we are blessed with 2 beautiful daughters. I am looking to lose 40 lbs and tone up. I also would like to be able to complete a half-marathon! I love this site! The nutritional tracker is really helping me to idenitfy my eating habits and adjust them. I love the visual goal trackers that some people have - how do I get one???

Hi everyone!! I am new to Sparkpeople but I have struggled with my wieght my whole life. I am sick of looking at pictures and being the biggest person in them. I am starting slow with 29 pounds by the end of the summer but I really don't want to stop there I just thought that would be a good starting point. I am a mom of 2 beautiful children my son is 9 and my daughter is 6. I am from Texas and I am 33 years old. I am hoping to make some friends to help support me since my husband is not the most supportive person to me when it comes to wieght loss. So Good Luck to everybody!!

Hello Everyone!

I'm 26 and within one year I've moved from FL, then to Indy, and now I'm in California. My heaviest was 132 and I was able to get down to 118. But I've not settled at 124 and as I was gradually gaining, I wanted to start losing again and meet my goal of 110. I haven't been that weight in 7 years so we'll re-evaluate then. I know these numbers seem low, but I'm 4'11".

Hi all! About eight months ago, I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and have gained a whopping 20 lbs as a result. I feel that I've gotten a lot of the disorder under control and am now just trying to get back to the way my body looked before. I'm grateful for all of the tools and support Sparkpeople.com gives!

I'm another of the "been there, done that" So I know SparkPeople works if you work with it. I'm a night time snacker and it really helps to surf this board instead of eating. I'll do my Spark page in a few days, I'm a mom of 2, grandma of 4 and a great grandma of 4. Hope everyone has a great week! emoticon

GARINT1981 - Good for you for coming back to something you know can help you. It is never easy to do this but it IS possible. I think the key is not giving up. If you mess up - just hit the reset button and dig in again!

Marmeer - I know you can lose that 70 pounds as you lost 50 before. You will gain confidence with each step you take. I love that you teach. Teachers are great role models and you will be one in more ways than one as they see you shed the weight. I also love to cross-stitch! Nice to meet you

Hi everyone,

As many have mentioned, I too, have been on and off of SparkPeople for the past few years. I have tried many different ways to lose the weight - at one point I had 50 pounds gone and felt great - only to regain it all over the past 3 years.

I'd like to lose around 70 pounds and become more active along the way. My goal is to regain confidence and enjoy living life to fullest.

I'm 35, teach junior-high kids (I love my job!), have a dog, love to read, hike, knit, cross-stitch and meet new people. Pleas feel free to contact me - I'd love to make some SparkBuddies along the way!

Marmeer

Hello everybody, I've been on and off of sparkpeople more times than I can count and with mixed results. Hopefully I can avoid the problems I've had on here before and use this wonderful site the way it was created for. I could use a lot of support. As I'm willing to bet, I have a lot of stuff going on like a lot of others.

MYOWNGIRL1 - Metabolism does take a nosedive as we age and a sedentary job doesn't help but I know you can do this. Just make small changes and build on them.

FIT4MY3K679 - That's the way to do it - no excuses. It's great you are able to be home with your children - get them involved in your fitness - make it a game!

Press On!

Hi All! Happy Monday!

I just found this site and with all of the great features I hope I find time to actually excercise and not just play with all the gadgets online!

I just turned 36 and my metabolism has CRASHED! I also own my own company and work has taken off which is great - but it means I'm sitting down at a computer most of the day which is not great for my body.

I'm excited to be on this journey with you guys!

Heatperi - I think the support group is a definite help. Others on the same journey can offer tips, understand your obstacles and cheer you on when you succeed. Just never give up!

Moranda - I know that 20 pounds is just as hard to lose as 100. It's ALL work. Try tracking your food for just one day and see then if you can make it two.

Sophia - You are so smart to do this while you are young. I know your situation. I started at 330 and I'm down about 63 pounds now. It's hard but it IS doable! Just hang in there.

Hi! I'm Moranda. I'm 24 and have around 20lbs to loose. Last year I was 150 trying to loose the 10lbs from my first pregnancy and it was very challenging. I was in the gym most days of the week and I had a trainer 2 days a week. I saw great results when It came to my body shape and tone. My clothes were fitting better but I never saw the numbers change on the scale. Now, a year, another child, and another 10 lbs added on I know I need to get serious not just working out but watching my diet as well.

Hey all! I'm Sophia. I'm 23 years old, living in NYC. I've struggled with weight loss / weight gain for quite a while. I'm currently weigh 288 lbs, the most I've ever weighed. My ultimate goal weight is 130 lbs. I'm looking for all the support I can get - and I want to be able to give support as well! Please feel free to add me (if I don't add you first!) emoticon

Hi Diana - I love cross-stitch too. You mentioned ballet - do you know about Pure Barre exercise DVD's? Check them out on Amazon.

Hi, I'm Pinkhope (Suz). I'm one of your two team leaders. I've lost 62 pounds so far at Sparkpeople and love it! I am from Chicagoland and have been "sparking" since July 2010. I am married with a grown son, 2 doxies and a parrot. I love nature, reading, computers, music, classic cinema, cooking, travel, and needlework.

Welcome to the team!
