Hi everyone! I'm Nancy from Illinois who just joined SP for the first time a few weeks ago. Not only am I new at intentional dieting and exercising, but also at operating a computer. This has been a real challenge for an old grandma who doesn't adapt well to changes.

Hello! I am Bree. I joined on the 2nd, but due to crappy internet & having to fight everyone else in the house off my laptop, I haven't had a chance to look around much.

So far I am really looking forward to all the support & help I can get here. Everyone seems so nice! I love it!! I have 121lbs to lose. I was on Weight Watchers before & lost about 40 lbs. Well, due to life, I have gained all but 10 lbs back.

I am ready to hit the ground running!

Hi! I joined last week and have been a little overwhelmed over how many amazing articles, and teams their are on here. I had a back injury two years ago and have just been told by my doctor that I can start exercising more and I really need to find a diet to help me loose weight. I gained over 60 pounds in the last two years. Does anyone have any suggestions of workout DVD's for beginners or diet/ lifestyle changes I should look into?

I am Nancy, and live in Bellevue, Nebraska. I would like to loose some weight and hopefully lower my cholesterol. Taking the drugs for it made me weak and gave me instant arthritis, with weakness lasting a bit over 5 years before I started getting my stregnth back, so need to find better ways. I already mostly eat fairly health meals, just too much of it.

Hello everyone! My name is Carol and I joined last Sunday but haven't had time to post anything until today. Hello everyone,

Several years ago I successfully used SparkPeople to lose 30 lbs. I kept it off for awhile but when I lost someone close to me, I let it all come back. Over the last few years I've been gaining at an alarming weight until now I can no longer deny how fat and unhealthy I've become.

I'm hoping to find some people to encourage and for them to encourage me as I work to get back on track. Here's to a productive time here at Spark and thanks to our moderators. We appreciate your time answering out questions and such.

Good afternoon. I am an nurse that has been married for 28 years with two boys and one grandson. I am tired of being overweight and out of shape. I have not exercised since high school. I started dieting and exercising Jan. 2, 2012 along with my husband. I have lost 8 lbs so far. I try to walk eveyday 20 minutes during my lunch break and have recently started kick boxing at our local gym. I am determined to lose weight. My favorite quote that I have found is" pain is just weakness leaving the body". This fits me to a tee.

Hello everyone! I'm Fotoula, 29 years old! I had many disappointments at the past and have a long way to go again, but as the usual 'forever optimist' I'm, never lose my smile XD
The main reason I want to lose the extra weight is to avoid any health problems at the future and because I don't like how much I abandoned my body the last 2 years.
The site so far looks awesome and most important with nice & friendly people, nice to meet you and good luck with your goals!

My name is Gina and I'm a pop-a-holic, but I've been "clean" since Tuesday. I'm a stay at home Mom to an almost 3 year old boy and a 5 year old girl. I'm from Chicago, but we moved to Houston a few years ago. I started running over the summer and ran my first 5K on Thanksgiving. My goal is to complete a sprint triathlon this fall. I have a wicked sweet tooth and my diet need a major overhaul, at least it's easy to see where there is room for improvement!

I'm 61 and want to be a healthier weight. I'm not putting a number on how much to lose. Losing anything is a step in the right direction. My husband and I love visiting National Parks and hiking. I want to be sure I can still do it as I get older. Another incentive is my daughter's wedding in May. I'd love to look better in the pictures.

I've never blogged before while trying to lose weight. This might be the help I've needed.

Just joined tonight and I am looking forward to reaching my goals! I love that SparkPeople will give me a list of exercises to do. My goal is to lose 35 pounds! I am unofficially doing Weight Watchers as a way to help me get on the right track when it comes to eating.

Hi, I am here to get fit and lose 50 pounds for good! It seems like over my lifetime I have lost the same 5-10 pounds but they kept finding me again. Now its starting to impact my health...

Hello everyone! I am so excited about this site, I just stumbled on it today and am making my way around still. I moved to Boise about 11 years ago and have 5 children and a granddaughter and am 46 years young. I had lost some weight and felt wonderful and then with the holidays and my sweet tooth, I managed to put back on about 20 pounds that I need to get off before spring/summer. We have a Harley and love to ride!! I am motivated again to get the extra weight and then some off.

Hello!
Sunday I decided to organize my dresser (thanks to my pinterest addiction) and I had a few shirts that I wasn't sure if they would still fit. I tried them on and I happend to be in front of the mirror. I had not looked at myself without clothes in the mirror for a while. I decided then that I needed to do something about my weight. I prayed yesterday morining and asked God for guidance then a few hours later I saw someone had mentioned sparkpeople on facebook. I googled, liked what I saw and signed up!

I like the nutrition counter and felt like I got my butt kicked after the workout and doing the treadmill last night. I can say last night I went to bed happy. I am excited about the journey I have begun!

Oh, and a little about myself, I am 36 and a mom of 3 boys ages 15, 12 & 10. I have been married for almost 17 years.

My name is Marilyn. check out my SparkPage for personal info and goals. I need to lose around 70 lbs but I have decided to use SparkPeople to help me lose 5 lbs at a time. When I lose 1st- 5 lbs I will reset goals for the next 5 lbs. Setting goals has never really worked for me so hopefully this will work better. Trying to stay consistent with my SparkStreaks should help.

emoticon Welcome to SparkPeople. You have made a huge step toward reaching your goals. This site is amazing. There are so many resources to help you along the way. The keys for me have been food and exercise tracking. They really help to hold you accountable.

Active supportive teams are another huge blessing. We all struggle and having spark friends is an unbelievable help and boost during those times.

The site also has amazing articles to help educate and inform.

Hi All,
This is my second time on spark the first time I lost 30lbs :) I have gained about 10 of it back, but I am ready to recommit and drop another 30lbs. I made a fresh account and hope to keep with it this time. My biggest weakness is finding time to exercise, currently I am using the treadmill three times a week.
