Hi everyone, I'm a bit late to the party, so much to read and check out on this site! My name is rebecca and I'm 33. I have a 12yr old daughter and really want to get serious about maintaining a healthy lifestyle so I can be a good role model for her. I like many others I'm sure have been on the weight loss treadmill since I was a teenager, I did get almost to goal about 5 yrs ago with weight watchers but of course it was just a diet not a lifestyle so put it all back on and more when I went back to "normal" habits. I really like WW's focus on tracking everything but didn't like how commercialised and expensive it is so I am really loving sparkpeople with all the trackers and I think the reports are going to be great later down the track to see how I'm going over a longer period.

Hello my name is Mic and I just joined spark people. I am 46 and need to lose 113 lbs yikes but I know I will do it! I have several medical issues but am hoping to turn that around. I just had hernis surgery on Jan 9th and still recouperating so cannot do much activity yet but I can walk. With my pedometer I did 6000 steps today! I look forward to meeting you all!!!

Hi, everyone. I started using SP on January 9th...a little bit of a New Years Resolution. I've always battled self-esteem issues...and I'm at my highest weight ever...175-180 at 5 foot 6. I don't eat very healthy and haven't exercised in years. I'm tired of feeling so uncomfortable with my body. It is also important for me to get in shape before having another child...labor was really hard for me the first time around.
I have a little boy who will be 2 1/2 in a few days...Brayden is my world. I've been a stay at home mom until a few months ago when I started a seasonal job for the holidays...part time. They've kept me on after the holidays but I've only worked once or twice a week though.
So...I've started out by tracking my food to make myself more aware of what I'm eating...I'm hoping that starting out slowly will help me to succeed in the long run. I'm trying not to eat too much junk and sweets...drinking more water...only one soda pop a day and exercising a bit...and I lost 2 lbs in the first week and a half of doing this. Would I have liked to lose more? Of course, but it's good for not making huge changes...so I'm staying positive : )

Hi All,

I am new to SP. I joined last week and I loving every bit of it. I have been exercising since the 1st week of January. I did 3 days in the first week and 5 days last week. I think I will do another 5/6 this week. I have 30 - 40 lbs to lose and I can't wait for that to happen.

I hope to keep motivated. I weighed in last night and I have not lost any weight even though I eat healthy food. I know it's early but I felt a little bit disappointed.

All I can do is be consistent and hopefully I will start loosing.

I have been doing 30 minutes on elliptical some days, 30 minutes of dance video or Pilates some days, I am trying to switch it up so that I don't get bored. I hope to make good friends here.

i am Megan... i joined spark to keep me in line as i try to get to a "healthy" BMI after years of no exercise, lots of junk food, and 3 kids... i have about 70 lbs to lose to get to my ultimate goal. right now i'm taking it in steps though.... my goal is to lose 2 lbs a week until my family vacation to the beach in June!
i'm so happy to report i lost 5 pounds my first week!

Hi Everyone,

My name is Jaime. I'm 30. I've never tried spark people, but i have done e-diets, WW, and every other diet under the sun.

I had my first baby in May and I'm looking to lose the last of the baby weight, plus an additional 10 lbs i should have lost before i got pregnant. (ok, in an ideal world i'd weight 125-130, but 135 is more suitable for me)

This time is different, which is something i've never said to myself, but i am now. I spend a good deal of the winter sick, so this year, i decided to give up refined sugar and dairy. as well as processed foods. I also used to be the queen of takeout, but now i'm the queen of the kitchen--albeit a very small NYC kitchen.

My small family and I have decided to move back to my hometown, so i would like to lose this weight by June 9 so when i move, i'll look and FEEL awesome.

I look forward to being on this journey with all of you.

Hello! I just joined SparkPeople as part of a work "Biggest Loser" competition, and I'm loving it! I'm hoping the tracking apps will help keep me on my game even when I'm on the go. I'm relatively healthy, but I'm hoping to reduce the likelihood of contracting the diseases I'm seeing friends and family dealing with on a daily basis. Plus, it wouldn't hurt to be bikini-ready by Spring Break!

The only negative: I managed to sprain my ankle last night. If anyone has great ideas for creative cardio workouts for the next couple of days, I'd love to hear about them. I'm still looking for the silver lining on this cloud.

Hi everyone, My name is Michelle. I am from Ohio. I was diagnosed on the week of my birthday in 2000 with Type II Diabetes. Next month will be 12 years since i was diagnosed. I have been uncontrolled for the most part in all this time. I have had no complications so far (knock on wood) but want to finally get it under control and get off my meds. I want to get healthy so I can have a baby before it is too late.
Today i went to long between lunch and dinner and got hungry. I went to grab the b/f's chips and dip to snack on and when i opened the fridge to get the dip i seen the veggies I had cut up the day before. So, instead of ruining my healthy day I decided to go for the veggies and ranch dip. For me this is big. Salty and cheesy are my most favorite things in the food universe. lol I am proud of myself today.

Hi my name is Michelle. I am a 40 year old mother of 3 living in the midwest. I was a member of SP back in 2006 and was successful in losing 30 lbs and keeping it off, but my goal was 85lbs....got stuck. So, I am back!

I love Spark People! The fast break in the beginning really helps the new lifestyle sink in. I have found the most important tool in the SP arsenal for me in the food tracker.

Having a little trouble getting my motivation up there to do this....don't know why. Seem to be in "self defeating" mode. I will push through though.

Hello all! My name is Katie and I am 23 year old. This is my first time using Spark People and so far I really really like it! Things are going so well in my first 5 days. Really love the ideas for recipes especially adapting to having fewer calories I am adjusting to eating more protein to stay full. It's fun adjusting into better eating habits and the feeling of accomplishment when my day is perfectly planned and achieved. Glad everyone has joined and excited to have the support system! Currently I am going to school to get my BA in Art management and being a college student on the go all the time isn't easy. Managing a full time job and full time classes is hard but with great snack ideas for on the go it should make my crazy lifestyle a bit less hectic.

Hello all!

My name is hank (after Williams Sr) and I am in virgin territory with healthy living. Never been scared of the kitchen but working in that environment is harsh for weight control. I have an 8 yr old son that thinks I am the best thing since sliced bread, to live up to the super! high plateau I have been placed on I decided to follow a few family members and join the spark community. I can say the resources do make this seem more comfortable than anything else I have seen in recent years. Not as rough and tough as the Navy PT/Intake (fat boys club) which is a added surprise to me, as that never inspired me to do anything but skip the course. While Spark has already created a pleasant surprise in changing my lifestyle not just what I eat, which I found is key according to popular research and other medical journal recommendations. So here is to a new me and a new life !

Hi all!

I live in northeastern Vermont (very rural area) with my husband and 2 year old daughter. We both work full time, and while my husband has been able to maintain his workout schedule, mine seems to have vanished over the last 3-4 years and I've gained more weight than I like... 40-50 pounds over my ideal.

My biggest challenges are making time to exercise and avoiding mindless snacking. Also, I have to remember that my husband needs about 1000 calories more a day than I do (darn him) so I need a smaller portion of everything.

So far I'm loving the trackers here - they appeal to my competitive streak. :-)

I guess I should have read the guide for posting replies, but I kinda sometimes just like to do it and see what happens. I have spent a lifetime reading rules first. Now, I'm leaning toward more spontaneity. I am younger than my age would tell you, and I want to keep it that way. So, while I want and need to lose weight, I also want to establish an exercise program that I can stick with. I am a retired school teacher who is constantly rewriting my life. Sometimes, literally!

Hello fellow Sparkers. I am new to Spark People, but I am and ready to utilize all the tools, tips, and trackers available here on the site. I am a proud mother of three boys ages 6, 9, and 10 and a happily married woman to the love of my life. We have been together for almost 12 years and have decided to embark on the journey together. Although we are taking different paths, the support we can provide one another is priceless. I am here so I can reach a healthy weight, learn a healthier lifestyle, and improve my overall health. Recently, my physician diagnosed me with fatty liver due to obesity and informed me that the time is NOW! I have tried to loose weight in the past, only to fail. This time around I will succeed because I have the support, love, and encouragement needed. Hi! I'm kate! A SAHM with 2 children. I've had some lung issues over the past few years and have been on steriods about every other month for the past 3 years. Needless to say, I've bulked up. I finally have my asthma under control and can actually do some exercises. I need to drop a lot of weight to help me breathe and I have no clue how. I have a 20 year H.S reunion next year, as well as a wedding to attend, which just happens to be my own. I would LOVE to be able to wear the dress of my dreams. Being in a group that is facing the same challenges and having some of the same goals will prove to be beneficial, I'm sure. I cannot wait to get to know some of you and I'm sure we'll be motivation for each other. :)

Hello everyone! I was a part of Spark several years ago and then just lost track of everything. I am back on track now and plan to stay that way. So I created a new account to start off working towards the new me. I live in Berkeley County and am looking forward to making new friends. Sure like a lot of people my weight is talked about a lot. I finally decided though that I am not on this journey for anyone other than myself. I know I am beautiful on the inside and that is what matters. Uhm, hi. I'm Jay, and I'm an 18 year old Running Start student. I've been 'big' my entire life, and it's come to the point where I NEED to start losing weight. I've been slowly getting my emotional problems under control, so I think I'm ready to start seriously trying this 'weight loss' thing.

Good morning, I am 30 years old woman from Tampa, Florida, I am looking for a total lifestyle change. Its past time. My fiance and I have set a date range for our wedding so I have a year and a half to loose roughly 90lbs total which will bring me down to 150 and right in the middle weight for my 5'8" tall. I know its possible its just going to take will power to change everything about the way I live. I am here in hopes that I wont be alone and its a nice fairly anonymous place to vent my spleen and rant and babble. I am a champion babbler when it comes to posts and such.... So be patient there's a normal post in the middle of all the babble.... hehehe

Hey all!! I am Robin! Mom of 3, college student and army wife. I joined Spark because I have decided that this is the year for me to get in shape. My husband, being a soldier, has always exersized regularly. He participates in 5K's all the time. I am usually the supportive wife at the finish line there to take the picture of him crossing the finish line. Instead I want to be next to him in all those pictures feeling good about myself and proud of both of us.

I also want to be a good example to my kids. I look forward to having more energy to be more active with my kids. They are great kids and deserve all I can give them and more.

Hi everyone, I'm Robin, and I live in a medium size town northeast of Hartford, CT. I'm married to a great guy, who just happens to be thin and has never known what it's like to need to lose weight. He is very supportive of my weight loss journey, but it does make mealtime difficult at our house...I need to lose weight, and he could stand to gain about 20 lbs.
Anyway, I just joined SparkPeople on Sunday and have been tracking my food each day since. I didn't realize before just how much sodium I'd been consuming, and the food tracker definitely was a wakeup call for me. I also just started exercising (walking on my treadmill, since it's very cold here in CT) today, so that's a big step for me. I look forward to being a part of this great community!

Hi everyone! I'm a stay at home mom of 2 elementary schooled kids. Despite the user name, I am not a fan of eating cake, just decorating them, but I do have issues with chocolate and pastries. This is not the first free online calorie counting site I've tried, but I hope by interacting with others here I will stay accountable to my goals while helping others reach their goals also. I'd love to make a few friends also, I know it can happen online, that's where I've met many of my friends from other forums.

Being over 200 pounds is a struggle as I never thought I'd be here and since I've gotten over that number, I can't seem to get back under that number. I'm hoping for help with that hurdle when I reach it. The last time I tried to lose some weight, that seemed to be the number that stuck me mentally.

Thanks for letting me be a part of this community! I hope to be a positive source for everyone who really wants it!

I hit the mark i said I NEVER WANTED TO WEIGH so it is time to STOP. I have used the nutri system in the early 90's and other methods and just continued gaining. Was losing until i had knee injury.

Hi Everyone.
I am glad to be a part of this group. I started SP on January 9 because my weight loss had stalled and I didn't know what else to do. Since then, I have learned a lot and the weight loss has resume-slower than it was but I will take it. At first, I think I was going about it all wrong so I was losing weight faster but I was probably losing muscle too. Through this program, I am learning a healthier way to lose weight. I look forward to going through this journey with you.

Hi People!!!!

Finally, I have taken this initiative to lose weight permanently...Now, what I mean is that I have tried atleast n number of times to lose weight and to some extent I succeeded quite a bit but then later on it bounced back...coz i went back my old lethargic lifestyle...sigh...

And this time I need a support group i.e. people like you who would help me out during my low days and continue to be my source of inspiration and encouragement as well...

Am pretty sure that my next thread would be addressed as Hi Friends coz looking forward to make gr8 friends here:-)

P.S. I am a pear shaped person and totally lean and fit on top but can't say the same about my ...ahem ahem..Looking forward to break the plateau and get my hips, thighs and buns in shape coz I know most of the fat is deposited there.

Hello everyone!! Today I am taking the first step to losing weight and meeting my goals. I have had more than enough of being unhealthy and over-weight. I am getting married next year and fully plan to fit into at least a size 12 dress. Not only that but I have two rowdy kids that I would love to be able to keep up with. Hello everyone! My name is Laura and I am a mom of 4 wonderful children. I live in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. I have done sparks before but I couldn't remember the email or password so I just signed up through my facebook account. I am hoping that by my 33rd birthday in april i am down to my before pregnancy weight of 125 and fit into size 8 clothes again.

Hi! I'm an almost 25 yr old married mother of 2 girls. My oldest will be 4 in March and my youngest just turned 1 right before Christmas. I've been on a weight roller coaster my whole life. In college, I was 135 pounds and after I had my two children my heaviest was 230. I've been working on dropping the weight for a little while now and I'm down to 211. Still have a long way to go! Hope I can't find some support on here and be someone's support in return!
