Hi, I'm Karen from Atlanta Ga. I'm 62, married to DH for 26 yrs and we have been full time retirees for 6 years. I've been on SP for awhile and it helped me to lose a few pounds a few years ago. I decided this summer that I would rejoin WW online and get back to goal weight once and for all. Planning to land in 150ville by end of the year. I'm a Lifetime Member from late 60's in my teen years. Now, I am making slow progress, a pound at a time average per week but I said to DH I want to get back to healthy lifestyle for the both of us and he has helped so much. I am on a few other Teams on SP. Ran across y'all this morning. I like the upbeat attitudes and caring that I saw in reading just a few posts. So, I'll be chatting on the daily thread and getting to know each of you.

I’ve been on SP for a while and just returning this year after a lengthy sabbatical. I reside in southwest Michigan on a 10 acre farm where I grow nuts. I’m an avid gardener: blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, apples, peaches, and tons of flowers and shrubs.
I’ve battled weight issues since birth and managed it well until perimenopause at age 35. I’m a recovered over-exerciser and starvation dieter; even did a stint with emotional eating too. At age 44-45 I decided to get rid of those bad weight-loss habits and try something new… like eating and simply being active. I no longer weigh myself, except at the doctor’s office and I NEVER ask what the scale revealed. My activity includes purposeful workouts that combine cardio with strength training. Other activities included are: gardening, push mowing, farming, leisure walking and biking, and anything else that has me moving.
At 50 years old, my most recent, greatest achievement is accepting my body as she is and maintaining positive self talk. I may not be loosing weight but I’m not gaining either. And this speaks volumes as I suffer from hypothyroidism, PCOS, osteoarthritis and adrenal dysfunction. Staying active is challenging even on good days, but I persevere. I continue with Spark People because it keeps me abreast of current medical news and is an edifying reminder of why my lifestyle is just as important today as it was in my youth.
However weight and activity management is not all I am. My days are filled with music, art and other hand crafts. A new empty-nester, I am still owned by 2 Toy Fox Terriers, 2 tabby cats, and 2 finches. I enjoy reading, web page design and writing.

Hi everyone! I am 51 years old, have lost a bit of weight now with Sparkpeople and I am really just focused on balanced and healthy living. I have about 10lbs to go to a goal weight, but it's really been tough to lose...I walk the dog alot, do the elliptical not nearly enough and do some strength training on a pretty regular basis.

I've got about 57 lbs I need to lose to reach my first goal and I'm hoping this team will keep me motivated since we're all in the same boat, more or less. Look forward to getting to know you thru the team. I'm working on 10 lbs at a time.
I'm Vicki and I live in Florida. I'm working towards making the healthiest choices I can when it comes to taking care of myself. I've put away the scale and will no longer weigh myself except when at the doctors office. I don't want to define who I am ever again by a number on the scale. I've done that for way too many years. I do want to make exercise a top priority as I have a couple of health issues that exercise would improve. Also it would definately give me more energy. I'll basically be doing a low fat plan because I feel it's the healthiest way to eat. I want to incorporate a lot more veggies and fruits into my food plan and a lot less red meats and oils as they don't agree with me very much. I don't consider this a diet since this will be the way I eat from now on.
Hi! I am 54 and have become set in my ways way too young in life. Reading some of the blogs has made me realize that I have a lot of life left in me and it is time to show the world who Gayle is. I want to become a little eccentric and fun to be around. It's time to really live the second half of my life. This seemed to be the prefect group to join.
