WELCOME! CONSIDER YOUR WAKE UP CALL A GOOD THING AND THIS IS THE BEST PLACE TO LEARN YOU HAVE THE STRENGTH AND IF YOU HAVE SUPPORT YOU WILL DO IT. I AM A TYPE 2 DIABETIC, BUT NOW I AM ON A VERY LOW DOSE OF ORAL MEDICATION, HAVE DRASTICLY RDUCED MY BLOOD PRESSURE MEDS AND AM ON A LOW DOSE OF CHOLESTEROL MEDS AND HAVE MY NUMBERS WELL UNDER 200. I HAVE GONE OFF MY ACID REFLUX MEDS AND MY BREATHING HAS IMPROVED. I HAVE LOST 41 POUNDS WITH SPARK SINCE LAST AUGUST AND LOST WEIGHT OFF AND ON A FEW YERAS BEFORE AND IT TOTALS TO 105 POUNDS. I HAVE 100 TO GO. I THINK OF IT AS 10 TEN POUND LOSSES. THE ONE LIFE CHANGING THING THAT SP DID FOR ME WAS LEARNING IT IS A LIFESTYLE CHANGE...NOT A DIET. YOU DON'T GO ON AND THEN GO OFF. IT IS A DAILY LIFESTYLE. THE TRACKER FOR FOOD IS THE BEST TOOL. IT TAKES SOME TIME BUT IT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE. THERE ARE BLOGS, TEAMS, ARTICLES, RECIPES (MAKE YOUR OWN COLLECTION OF RECIPES) AS WELL AS EXERCISE. START OFF WITH SMALL GOALS AND UP THEM AS YOU GO ALONG. ONE WEEK DRINK WATER AND EAT VEGGIES AND FRUIT. THEN THE NEXT WEEK ADD 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE AND WEIGH YOUR PROTIEN. START MEASURING YOUR FOOD. YOU CAN DO THIS. Where to start ??? Let's see... I am 41 years old ( will be 42 in 3 months ) and my goal is to lose 150 pounds by my 43rd Birthday ! I have 3 biological children and 3 step-children, and they range in ages from 3 to 20. I work alot of hours, and I sometimes meet myself coming and going. A few weeks ago I had a severe pancreatic attack. During my week long hospital stay, it was discovered, I am in the beginning stages of diabetes, and I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol and triglycerides. Can you say wake up call ??? Obviously, I knew I was overweight, but I avoided the doctor, so I never had to "deal with my weight" or "face it". I quit smoking, and have been tobacco free for 3 weeks as of today !! i joined this group at the urging of my doctor because I know I am not strong enough to do this on my own !!!
