Hi, I'm Barbara. Because of multiple sclerosis and fibromyalgia I don't know from day to day just how much or what kind of movement I can do. Still, most days I can do something and some days I can do lots. I've been married 40 years to my best friend. We have two kids and five grandkids...and they are truly grand! It is such a joy to get to be a part of their lives. I look forward to visiting this team as we all keep these amazing bodies in motion.

I have about 95 lbs to lose to reach my goal but am working on 5 lbs at a time. It sounds like losing 5 lbs is a lot more manageable than saying I need to lose 95 lbs. I lose weight very slowly and I yo-yo a lot, but I really want this weight off.
I've tried a number of different plans but I think for me it's a matter of cutting calories but making the most of what calories I do allow myself. So I'm trying to eat more fresh produce and fruits, and limiting all the junk foods. I do eat meat but am working to cut out a good portion of that and limit it to mainly fish and chicken.
My exercise is sporatic at the best. I'll go days and not do much then for a week or two go crazy with activities that are considered exercise. I need to get more into a regular routine of daily exercise that I enjoy doing.

Hello everyone,
My name is Jennifer and I am from Utah. I currently have about 34 pounds to lose to get to my goal. I have lost 40 pounds already but have hit a plateau. I am now working with a trainer once a week, working out 3 - 5 times a week and changing up my nutrition to try and break past this plateau. I am SUPER excited to make it. I am excited to be a part of this team and love the idea of the big support group. Motivation is a BIG part for me in making it to my goal.

Hello all,
I'm Richele from Oregon and excited to be a part of this team. I am currently only working on my cardio since the 12 week fitness group that I am a part of at my gym doesn't incorporate strenght trainin in until the 6th week. I love the eliptical but I usually use the bike, treadmill and eliptical. I use the gym equipment at least 3x a week, do at least one aerobic class a week (usually step class) and do family swim with my kids twice a week where I do an hour of water workout with a group for an hour. I am also training for a walk/jog 5K and just finished walking my first 5K last week. My goal is to be able to run a 5K. To date I have lost 29 lbs.

Each mile begins with the first step.

Hi, my name is Lona. I joined SP a little over two weeks ago. My goal has been to loose 29 lbs before I turn 29.

I have been motivated to work out off and on and I am learning to pay more attention to what I eat and when I eat. I had lost 10 lbs on my own but I think being on SP and noticing what I'm eating and when I work out will push me. I will admit I can get really lazy and give up if I don't think I did perfectly.

I enjoy Zumba and did a Zumbathon for Breast Cancer on Friday. I have also done one for Heart Disease and after that, I was addicted. I enjoy almost any type of workout and I have re-discovered running. I found when I do work out I actually do like it and like how I feel. The problem is getting there. I know if I have support to push me, I will succeed. emoticon

Hello team!
My name is Kim, I'm 30 years old, and returned to SP a couple days ago. My journey to get healthy began in February, with a goal of simply improving my mental health through exercise. The exercise fueled healthier choices in my diet and I've dropped about 35 lbs without any serious effort. I'm hoping that being on SP will allow me to get more serious about my nutrition and exercise routine, as well as having a place to find support (and give it).

Hi! My name is Tania and I just received an invite for this team... I am 36 almost 37 years old... I joined Sparkpeople a week ago today... So far I have lost a little over 5 lbs... I'm loving this site... it is really helping me to stay focused and motivated... emoticon

As for what I do for exercise... I enjoy walking... outside if it is nice... I also have several of Leslie Sansone's Walk Away The Pound videos that I do some... I have a stationary bike I ride(not one of my favs though)... And I just re-discovered my Wii Fit a few days ago and am having fun with it... emoticon

I got an invite to the team and I 'm glad I came over. I'm working to lose weight and currently I use my stationary bike and free weights. I've begun to pull out my Leslie Sansone dvds to try some light indoor walking. I have a knee which blew out 3 years ago and I've never quite recovered from it though they repaired the meniscus. I am 58 years old and I don't lose as quickly as I'd like to but I look forward to sharing information with all of you, too.

You can't wait for motivation to strike; sometimes you need to dig deep into yourself and find the motivation on your own.

Hello - Whisperingpine4 inivted me to join one of her other groups for which I thank her. However when I logged on and saw this team my interest was piqued. I'm like Trinirn40 - was doing ok until a couple of years ago and now that I'm nearing my 50th birthday I'm finding it hard to keep off the pounds. My name is Amber and I am from Texas. I used to love to walk but as the weight has crept on and now I am going to hit the big 5-0 this month, I am so tired of being overweight and being tired all the time. So I am going to start walking again, which I have been doing 20 min walks. I got the Bob Harper DVD walking so if I do not want to go get on a treadmill or walk around the neighborhood I can pop in the video. But doing treadmill hasn't been too bad so at least I will have a variety.

Hi! My name's Mary, and I live in Sonoma County, CA. I have the exact opposite problem as Natasha. I'm hugely overweight and walking about half-time with a walker. I would love to be able to stick the walker into the back of the closet -- or better yet, the thrift store! Given my age (58 -- yes, I said it) and the point I'm starting from, this is NOT going to be easy.

Hi, my name is Natasha. I'm glad to join the Team. Most people look at me a think why do she want to lose weight? Well, I have always been under 146 lbs and I could eat whatever I want without gaining a pound. At about age 37 that all changed. Everything I eat now sticks to my belly and my rear end. My body has changed and I am no longer the skinny chick I used to be.

I not only want to lose weight, but I want to be healthy for the rest of my life. So I am joining you all on this life long journey.

I have three boys all grown up & I am the proud grandma of 2 beautiful boys ages 5 & 6, I am new to the site sparkpeople, I have started a workout program just this past week & so far so good I also do a lot of walking in my job so this will help, my goal is to lose 30 to 35 pounds so if figure between walking & my total gym & my Zumba tapes that travel with me I should be pretty covered along with my food plan.

Thanks for inviting me Dreamcatcher! I am 31 and also live in KS (referring to the post before mine). I have 2 kids ages 1 and 3 years. I am starting back on sparkpeople again. I have been inactive on this site for most of the summer but very active in my weight loss! I am 10-15 pounds from my goal weight but that number could change once I start building muscle.

I originally joined sparkpeople a few days after my oldest daugther's 1st birthday back in March 2009. Back then I did not know squat about losing weight...now I feel like I have the info leaking out of my ears as I sleep at night! (ok kinda silly).

So here I am with goals in hand and ready to go!

I can't believe I am down over 70 pounds since last year!

I was doing very well for awhile but seem to have hit a plateau I can't climb down from. I have gone it mostly solo at this point. Thanks for dreamcatcher for inviting me, just as I was giving up!!! Anyway, I have always walked since my children starting arriving 29 years ago!!! Walking is both relaxing and invigorating depending on my stride, so I like that control.

My family is from Houston TX, but we live in coastal NC for the past 10 years and have seen major 3 hurricanes. I don't like that part of it, but I live where my knight takes me.

Anyway, I look forward to learning and being inspired by you amazing sparkers!

Hi Melissa. I just recently joined this group also. Welcome. I saw you scuba dive. My husband just got certified this past weekend and my son passed his deep water dive. They are loving it so far.

I've never done a triathlon but am training for a 1/2 marathon. I did one last year and I saw a lady holding a sign at the nine mile that said if it was easy every one would do it. It was just what I needed to get to the finish.

Hello everyone! I am Melissa and I am 39. I have been married for almost 20years! I told my sister I would do a triathlon with her in Colorado in 1 year, so I need to get a move on!
I live in Souther California and have for the last 6 years. My hubby retired from the Army 2 years ago and it looks like we will be here for a while. I grew up a Marine Corps brat so I have been to a lot of places, though I have been a CA resident for years.
I scuba dive which is wonderful, though it would be so much better without the 90-100 extra pounds I have! Time to lose it for good! I look forward to getting to know you all! This is what I need to get this done!

Hi, I'm Laura. I'm 33 and have been married to my DH for 2 years next month. I currently live in New Mexico where I am getting my MPH degree. I am originally from Southern California and still consider it home, although I spent a year in Las Vegas and 7 years in Idaho. I am anxious to get started in this sparkteam and to get to know everyone more.

Hi my name is Mary! I am 47 years old and married with 3 boys. I have been on SP since Feb. 2011 and reached my 21lb weight loss in 3 months! THat's the good news. Now the bad news is - due to too many vacations, eating out, and family gatherings this summer, I've gained about 1/3 of it back. I am not at all happy about that. I want to get motivated again to staying on track and get back to my goal weight of 135 lbs.

Hi Everyone,

First, I have to start off with an apology. I joined several days ago (in fact I think it was almost a whole week ago now), but I never introduced myself. At the time I was just thinking, "Join now while you remember, you can always introduce yourself later".

So, I guess now it's "later", and here I am introducing myself.

My name is Karen, but y'all can just call me Gabby (or Gabs or Gabster or any variation thereof LOL). Considering how many words I've already used in this introduction, I'm sure it's no secret as to HOW I got the nickname "Gabby". Let's just say, I like words. (Ha Ha)

Anyway, I am going to be 35 in about a month (Yikes - I remember when I thought 35 was OLD!) and I have 2 daughters who are the light of my life (and sometimes the bane of my existence, though I would trade them for nothing). I grew up in Upstate New York, had my children in Illinois, moved BACK to Upstate New York, got transplanted by marriage to California, and now I make my home in Florida.

I joined SparkPeople originally in 2007 (under another alias), but I was one of those "yo-yo dieters" and so I would stick to it for a while (maybe a month) and then I'd give up when I felt like it was getting too hard. I rejoined at the end of June, but really only got serious in July when I really started working toward my goal of losing about 120 lbs (give or take). I've been doing very well this time around, and I think my head is in a better place, so I have a better chance of succeeding.

Some of the things I like to do are: Read, Write, Sing, Laugh, etc - I could probably spend all day TALKING about what I like to do, but I'd rather just go do them LOL.

I look forward to getting to know y'all and losin' all this weight together.

Looks like I need to update my picture out there. Those are my boys. They are now 15 and 16. That was taken 4 or 5 years ago. Good thing they are not on here to see the picture I have out there. lol

Hello everyone. Thank you DREAMCATCHER64 for inviting me to this group. My name is Karen. I tracked on spark a couple years ago, drifted away and just recently came back. Hope to get to goal this time. I'm training for a 1/2 marathon next month. Maybe I should say I'm signed up for a 1/2 marathon and should be training. It has been so hot here not much training has happened. I have 7 weeks to get ready. Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hi Everyone, I am 62 years old, was up to 385, been down to 292 and back to 308. Last week was a very bad week. Away from home, No great food choices. Just not good.

I have fixed my eyes on the goal, and will press for it.

Isaiah 30:21 21 And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it," when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.

May we all listen to the one who is behind us, telling us which way to go.
If we find ourselves sitting, or lying down we are not going. If we are not going how can we be told when to go left or right.

The secret is to go, even when we don't see or know the finish line. We need to go.
