Hi Jessica! Welcome to the Team!
Will you be going to the gym or working out at home? There are a lot of resources here to help you find alternate exercises if you do not have all the equipment or have any difficulties with the lists.
If you have any questions, just ask. There are a few people who lurk, but do not post much.

Best of luck with Phase 1!

Ciao from Italy. My name is Jessica and I've signed up for Jamie Eason's Livefit program. I had a friend with amazing results. So I've decided to give it a go. I've struggled with my weight for years and I keep trying different programs. I believe this one will help me with weight training and change my eating habits. I really need the support. I'm very self-conscious when I use weights. So this is going to be hurdle for me. My goal is to lose 62 lbs eventually, but my first goal is 25 to 30 lbs. I hope that we can help each other out even though no one has posted in awhile. Any advice you have I'm open to receive! Thanks and looking forward to chatting with you soon!

Hi Cricket! Welcome to the Team!
I like to do my workouts solo, but do what works for you.
I think your gym is giving you a load of hogwash, personally. This program is a Fat burning program-- NOT a bulk-up program.
The program you're doing sounds like 1 hour and forty minutes 4 times a week and 2 days of an hour of cardio. If that is NOT challenging you, then I'm thinking you need to amp up intensity-- NOT more time. So, Jamie's program is great because the intensity is based on percentage of your current capabilities. If you can bench press 100 lbs one time, than 65% (the first 2 weeks) is 3 sets of 10/12 at 65lbs. And then it increases to 80-85% of your max in weeks 3+
Of course, you may need some spotting if you are not comfortable with the exercises. Or choosing alternates that may not need as much spotting (I'd rather Leg Press 2x my body weight than try to squat with 1x my body weight in free weights)

Anyway, I hope you find something that works for YOU.

Hello, everyone calls me Cricket. I am an overweight 52 year old. I have been working out with a couple of friends at the Inspire gym. The problem with working out with other people is you have to try to work together and we are not doing so good. I was a athlete from age 6 until I had my son. I water skied everyday until the last 10 years.
I adopted a young lady at work that exercises 6 days a week and her answer for me was Jamie Eason. I want to loose 100 lbs. The gym is telling me if I start out on this program before I develop my core I will have big hard bulges like extreme weight lifters. My answer is hockey puck.
If I do 20 minutes on treadmill warm up and 30 minutes 3 sets six exercises of their choosing and then another 30 minutes on elliptical and finally 20 minutes stretching, four times a week. The other two days are 60 minutes cardio. One day off.
Shouldn't I be worked out and not looking for something else to do 2 hours after I get home?
I think I am ready to start this program even if they think I am to old and fat to.

Thank you for all of the feedback. I have to admit i am a cardio junkie so that has been challenging. I can't say I have been eating perfectly lately with all the holiday goodies around, but I'm trying my best. Where do fruits fall on the plan? Are they a starch?i know it says limit fruit to twice a day. Is that in addition to what is stated in the Phase 1 diet?

Welcome Sam!
Generally fats are part of each suggested meal (especially if you cook in olive oil). If you find that you are too low (under 21 grams a day is dangerous), feel free to add some healthy fats, like avocado. Or you may find adding flax seeds (ground or in pill form) are useful for keeping digestion issues at bay (due to increased protein).

Just try out the meal plan, as is and you'll find out where you may need to adjust.

Hi Sam, I'm finally back to respond. I can't say that I had fats in every meal. Took me a little to find my groove as I was not fixating on tracking (fear of obsessing) and pretty much just followed the daily recommendations for meals. I don't eat much meat, so my fats ended up being a little lower. I noticed my skin drying out and then tracked and noticed how low I was on fats. So I added some into each meal. Many times, for me, it was just increasing the olive oil. Some avocado and I would have organic peanut butter. Everything in moderation.

One thing that helped me on this was to try and not think "diet" and instead eating the fuel and tried to be as clean as possible. It was wonderful to really eat, not feel hungry and not deprived. I probably ate more fruit than most, but I didn't end up with sugar cravings.

I recommend the supplementing. I am allergic to flaxseed, but instead used chia seeds. Also fish oil. Experiment and ENJOY! You can check out my blogs. Sadly, i haven't blogged since the LiveFit Challenge, but you will get an idea of my journey. I loved it!

Please keep us updated. You can do it!!!

I just read up on this program today. I have tried all sorts of different weight loss programs but I can't seem to find the right one for me yet. I have no problem going to the gym everyday. My issue is with eating. I can't seem to get it under control. I feel like if I could, my muscles would actually show more. So, I'm going to give this a try. I think I have a good basic understanding so far. One question I do have is about healthy fats. Jamie states that they usually are built into meals. Does this meanI should be adding them into every meal?

Hey Jen! Welcome to the team! Definitely, the time is a challenge- but keep at it and adjust as needed (like Kristin said, sometimes you have to break it down into smaller chunks if you are very time constrained.) That's why my rest day was in the middle of the week instead of over a weekend-- easier to get in 2 hour workouts on Saturday and Sundays!
Keep up the good work- congrats on the progress so far!

Hi and welcome to the team Jen! Congrats on making it week 7. I know the time is tough to get in. You only have 6 to go. You can do it!!! First time I did LiveFit I ended up having to break some workout up between cardio and ST.
Stay strong!

Hi Lindy-
I was over 35% body fat the first time I started LiveFit and got down to 29% by the end of the 12 weeks (lost 22 # and tons of inches- you can find my full results in the history of my blog back in May 2012, I believe)

Hi, my name is Sandy, I am 53 years old and will be 54 on July 19. I am married to my best friend for 31 years now. I have a beautiful daughter, she is 26, a Type I diabetic and on the right track. I am looking to lost 20-25 pounds and gain a lot of muscle. I weigh 163 right now and am 5'6" tall. I had a kidney transplant in 2002 so I am on steroids and anti rejection drugs, these things create obstacles at times. In 2002 I weighed 187 post transplant, I have fluctuated in these 11 years. I have gotten as low as 135 and then went back up. I would just like to lose the weight and keep it off. Maybe this is the program that will do just that. Sandy

Hi and welcome Mandi and Melinda (what comes to mind is M&Ms:) I am going through sugar withdrawal big time).

I am excited for both of you! LiveFit is an incredible plan that changed me in more ways than the body. I really can't say enough about it. Like you Melinda, I have a love for ST. Like no other workout. It is tough but well worth it. A great all around plan that gave me the opportunity to really eat, love my workouts (soreness and all), learn new moves (plyo I love now) and appreciate my body. Coming from someone with a history of an ED the last one was huge. I plan on returning for another round, but I am just returning after retreating from Spark for awhile due to stress and the old ED surfacing. Check out my blogs about LiveFit (I will add you as friends so you can read it-I am currently set to private just because I don't like the world wide web reading all, but am open on Spark). Back in the day I was a co-leader with LFF (lowfatfoodie) but was overwhelmed with everything and had to step down. LFF is awesome and has kicked some serious tush with LiveFit:)

All the best and enjoy!!!

Hi All!!!

I will be beginning this program tomorrow! I saw one of my good friends do it. She told me her struggles so I feel I know what to expect but she looked AMAZING afterwards. I plan on tracking my journey weekly so feel free to follow along on my blog.

Lets keep each other motivated! I hope to have enough people holding me accountable that the days I don't feel like doing it for myself I will do it for you all.

Cheers!
Mandi

Hi everyone.
My name is Melinda, I'm 25 and looking to build tons of lean muscle the healthy way. My whole life I naturally fluctuated in weight.. the different stages (from toddler to teen to young adult) of life's hormonal changes has kept me on a roller coaster.
But what I remember most was my love of lifting weights. When I was around 10 years old I can remember watching my brother lifting on a weight bench. I thought he was soo strong and I wanted to be strong too. So he'd spot me a few times on the low weights. But eventually we sold it. But when I was in high school I had the chance to lift weights again in our p.e. gym. I was 100 pounds myself and was lifting over that on a leg press.
Several years ago I was able to join a gym and work out with a trainer. I was 155 pounds then, and was able to deadlift right at 180. Even though I was 35 lbs over weight at that time, I felt healthier then ever because I was lifting weights.

But I ended up taking it too far and pinched my sciatic nerve, and had to stop..I had a limp for 6 months. I eventually had to cancel my memebership because I couldn't physically go and couldn't afford to renew for the next year. So I currently stand at 182 (last I checked) pounds/62 lbs over weight. I've been vegan now for over a year - but could be stricter on eating healthier vegan foods. Less peanut butter sandwiches and more salads.

So by joining this group I hope to get stricter on my dietary lifestyle and hopefully start a new life long plan of weight training. I want to be a (light class) body builder..but without acutally competing. As far as the Look I'm going for in muscle size, would be as similar looking to Jennifer Aguirre (youtube weight trainer if you don't know her) as I can. I love her arms/shoulders and omg her legs! I'm not the type of girl that really focus' on abs per say. I'm like Jenn on that philosophy.. work out your back, arms, legs and the core will really take care of its self.
I guess that's really it. If anyone else on here is vegan, and would like to chat, please send me a message. I'm really curious how many of us are out there body building. You'd be surprised at the number of the pros.. check out veganbodybuilding.com too in case you didn't know about it.

Great to have you and welcome to the team!
Just pre-plan some work-arounds for your obstacles and you will be fine. Life happens! Sometimes we all move our 'rest' days around to coincide with scheduling challenges and some of us shift or elongate our program 'weeks'. Don't forget to take measurements too-- this will be where you see the greatest improvements regardless of the scale!

Here goes, the 12 week transformation. I'm really motivated right now and hope that it continues. Although I already see some obstacles before me (events, vacations, schedule blunders) I hope I can still remain steadfast and see some awesome results. It's 4 weeks for you to see results, 8 weeks for family and friends, and 12 for the world. I'm hoping to feel better and more energized while keeping in mind the the number on the scale isn't the tell all of progress. FIGHTING!

Hey Tiffany! Welcome to the team! So glad you found the program- Many of us learned more (about exercise, ourselves, our bodies) then we ever expected on this program. Hope you have a similar experience.
I am repeating the program after doing it for the first time last spring. I lost about 25 pounds and more than 20 inches then.
With what I learned I dropped 5 sizes since I started.
Good luck and please stop by, let us know how you are doing, or ask any questions....

Hello everyone, my name is Tiffany. I am just starting the Live Fit program after a co-worker of mine told me about it. I actually have a LOT of weight to lose but I already love to workout so I am hoping that Jamie's Live Fit program will help me learn more and reach my goals. Is there anyone still on this program? Would love to have a partner to "train" with.

Hello, everyone! My name is Jenny. I found JE on bodybuilding.com and decided to give it a whirl after I complete the 7 day beginners fitness program I also found there. Hope with help from this group I can reach my goals, which are to lose about 50 pounds of body fat and gain muscle, and reclaim my health.

I'm currently in week 5 of the program and I feel great! I'm defiantly stronger than I was on day one. I joined the group so that I will have others to share with as I go through this program. I'm starting to see my body change! Let's Live Fit!

Morning Cindy:)
WOOHOO! Like LFF said, it sometimes takes a few to get in the clean eating groove. Beautiful thing is that you start feeling really good and it kind of drives you to eat cleaner and more. That's what happened to me. Surprised about the trainer. That is wrong! Glad to hear you are not stressing over the weight in the first phase. Sometimes that throws people off. Excited for you:):):) You will kill it!!!

Hey Cindy! Wow, no credit to Jamie? That's horrible!

But glad you found us!

Hello everyone!
I'm glad I found this team! I'm not perfect with my "clean" eating yet, I'll get better.
I've done the workout before, I was working with a personal trainer and she had me follow this program. I had no idea she found it on a website! Poor Jamie didn't get credit.

I'm mentally ready for the scale to stall or show a gain during phase 1.

Thanks everyone for making me feel welcome already!!!!

Good morning and welcome to the team!!! Glad to hear you attacking it again. Listen to your body. I had to modify moves because of knees, ankle and shoulders. I still lift low weight with my shoulders and walking lunges. Please keep us updated on your progress.

Welcome back to the program Hello! Definitely a good idea to have a spotter and its okay if you don't lift fully to your maximums. I still had good results with pretty low weights due to back and tendonitis issues my first go-round.
Please check out the Help/Support forum for some ideas on modifications, specifically this one I posted about my mods for my back:

Hi! I started this program once before but was never on a spark team. I made it to week four back in October of last year and hurt my back really bad (I could barely walk for two days). I'm not fully recovered but I am ready to pick up strength training hard core. I am going to take it easy with the weights at first and the reps. In addition, I have a knee impairment right now so I will have to do my best to modify legs day. We'll see.

Plus, I am going to make sure hubby spots me so I don't hurt myself again.

The road to success may be hard, but it's always worth the struggle.

This is not a quick fix, but a permanent lifestyle change.

I don't sweat, I sparkle.

Hi! I'm 50 years old - been on spark for some time now. I've lost over 40 pounds, but it is time to tone up. I'm doing a BL Challenge as well and so both of these fit into my time frame. I don't belong to a gym, so will be modifying the exercises as necessary. I will be keeping up my running schedule, even though she tells you not to in phase 1. I have been running for 2 years now and I am not willing to give that up. My body is used to running anway.
My goals are to lose about 15 pounds by the end of these next 12 weeks - and lower my body fat.

In CHRIST I can!

Hi all! I started the program yesterday. I don't remember the last time my upper arms & chest were this sore! I decided to use this program because I love lifting weights & getting stronger. I'd love to eventually have a lean, muscular physique. Right now I'm looking forward to building some muscles and losing fat.

I'm working my way up to the amount of protein in the diet. I already ate more protein than most women, but I'm not used to eating that much.

I think I may rearrange the workouts for week 1 and do my legs today so I can still move my arms at work tonight!

Chris~

Hi STARZ4US and welcome to the team! Also happy anniversary! A cruise to celebrate sounds wonderful and you will have a blast!

15lbs in 4 weeks is a very aggressive goal, I must say, especially as you say its your last 15lbs.
We love having you on the team regardless, but are you planning to follow Jamie Eason's training program? If so, pay close attention to the videos and information that Jamie has posted, as the first phase of her 12 week program is muscle-building. She warns that you may even GAIN a pound or two during this phase. Phase 2 and 3 are the fat burning stages-- using the muscle already gained in Phase 1 & 2 to aid in the loss of weight and inches.

Either way, the workouts and diet are incredible for your health and well-being and yes, the team goals are "do able". Most importantly enjoying yourself no matter what program you follow! We like to hear your results and will offer help in any way we can.

HI my name is Tonya and starting tomorrow. Little worried about getting all the food in but one step at a time. Been plateaued for about 2 years after losing 75 pounds. So time to switch it up with something fresh and logical to follow for a lifetime. Hoping to inspire and get inspired.

Hi Tina:) and a welcome to the team:) (I posted this on the other thread, but wanted to make sure you didn't miss it...so copied it over here...lol)
I'm excited for you!!! You will get accustomed to eating all the food. It's a transition for most and that includes me. When you start to feel your strength and realize that it is GOOD for you to really eat, clean foods, it makes it that much easier:) Let me tell you this...I am on my second round and have been fumbling with eating and am noticing a difference. Take it from me and eat that food! Your body needs it on this.
Please keep us update! WOOHOO!!!

Hello, I'm Tina. I have been thinking about trying this program for a little bit. I was a little worried about the amount of food I would need to eat. I decided I am going to DO it!! I am excited to find this team to go along with it. I am so excited. I am going to shop and prep after work today and start in the morning.

Welcome all! So glad to continue to have new people join the team!
As for me, I have just started a new round of LiveFit (Week 1, Phase 1) after fully completing it once in the spring and using the workouts for a few more weeks before an extended vacation (no "workouts" but tons of hiking, climbing, and crazy extreme sports).
So I look forward to celebrating and complaining with you all again for the next 12 weeks!

Hi Ali and welcome!!! Sorry to hear about the heal spur and tendonitis. Ouch! Hopefully they are better soon! Glad to have you on the team. I've enjoyed the challenge and am on my second round. Actually missed the structure of the plan. We have some runners and spinners on the team:) Have to say that Spark and the team have helped me big time. It's made a huge difference in me sticking with this. Now I am feeling it is something I can do for life and made great friends along the way. Big bonus!!!

Keep us posted. Excited to hear what you think:)

Hi, I'm Ali! I just joined today. I was poking around bodybuilding.com and came across Jamie Eason's training plan and decided to do it. Most of the exercises are stuff I do already (just not regularly), so I'm looking forward to adding more structure to my plan. Plus, I just need to get in more weight training and was looking for a change. So when I returned to SP, I thought I'd search to see if there was anything related to her and this team came up! I'm so excited. I love tracking progress and think it's one thing that keeps my motivation up.

I'm kinda glad that she doesn't have cardio in Phase 1 because I'm currently doing physical therapy for a heel spur and achilles tendonitis. :-o I'm hoping the trainers can help fix me, or at least help me cope, because I have a 5k coming up that I already paid for. But I do plan on keeping up with my spinning and Bikram Yoga classes. I just don't feel right cutting those things out, plus they're good for me. :-)

Good morning and WELCOME to the team!!! Sorry you were unable to find the link. It is buried in a post:) Copied it over:

To begin the program, start with PHASE 1 (4 WEEKS).

Phase 1 is built on 4 day strength training splits (workouts completely outlined at link below), and eating six small CLEAN meals per day with high protein and lowered carbohydrates. Suggestions for meal plans are laid out in the program.

Printable workout logs for strength training are also available. Schedule workouts as they fit into your life. Please note that Jamie has NOT included cardio as part of the Phase 1 workout program. This is intentional, and she explains why in her videos. The focus during Phase 1 is on muscle endurance, with calories/protein being used primarily for muscle growth rather than immediate energy (as in cardio).

Link to the main page for the challenge. You can click on the Phase 1 pic or use the Quick Navigation toolbar to go to Phase 1:
www.bodybuilding.com/fun/jamie-eason
s-
live

Huge congratulations for conquering a marathon and training for your second one!!! As mentioned above, phase 1 does not have cardio. It is a muscle building phase. Since you are training for a marathon you will need to modify. Some people include cardio for training purposes, so that is your call. I am on my second round and have been doing some cardio this time around. I have loved the challenge and think it is a wonderful way to get into strength training and clean eating. I gained muscle and lost inches. Check out my blog entries for my results in the 1st round.

There is a lot of helpful info on modifications in the Help section of the team page that team members have posted. Please feel free to post questions on the board. Someone is bound to have asked or run into the same thing.

You may also want to check out the LiveFit Trainer Facebook page for some inspiration!

WOOHOO for joining and please keep us all posted!!!

Hi and WELCOME Brenda!!! Really happy to have you join the group:) Could that "hard core" person be Amanda? hee hee I am already gathering that she is hard core. lol

Many of us are doing, or have done the challenge with a home gym. You sound like you have a similar set up as me. I do have a leg press, but there are alternatives for that. Besides the link I added on the previous post there are also alternatives under the Help section:
www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_mes
sa
geboard.asp?board=20980x52765

There are more posted under general topics section, but they have been bumped down. You can always ask away and we'll be glad to help.

People have also used bands with the challenge. One thing that comes up is the amount of weight you will need as you build strength. I completed a round of LiveFit and posted my final 12-week lifting stats on my blog page:
www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_jo
ur
nal_individual.asp?blog_id=4913941

Also check out fellow co-leader Lowfatfoodie's (aka LFF-she is on holiday til August) blog entries. Remember that everyone's numbers will vary. The beauty of weights is they are unique to each body:)

Woohoo! I am excited for you. Keep us posted!!!

Hi I'm Brenda! I followed a fellow spark friend here when I saw on my friend feed that she joined this team. She's hard core, so I figured it had to be worthwhile.

I haven't had time to scout around on the forums. I do have a question. Do you need access to a gym to complete the challenge? I have an assortment of free weights in my home gym and a bench with a lat pull down attachment and leg press.

Thanks for the link to the exercises. I'll check it out. I'm sure I can find exercises with the equpment I have.

GOOD MORNING!!

Just found this group and hope to see more activity here. I started on Sunday and am doing two days on, rest one, two days rest two for the first two weeks. My arms are really sore, but I am loving it so far.

I workout at home, have some good equipment, but am having issues with leg presses. Still looking for alternatives for upcoming leg work.

I am 57 (in two weeks) and LOVE strength training. Hope to meet a few others that will help keep me motivated and I, them!!

Hey y'all! I'm Gwynn and I'm starting tomorrow woohoo!! My primary reason for following the plan is because I want to reshape my body! I used to weigh 242lbs and I"m now 185lbs YAY!! However, I've got fat in my tummy, arms, and butt...I want it GONE!!! I'm planning to take it slowly with the clean eating...replacing one meal a day with no processed foods, and working out according to the plan! Wish me luck!! And congrats to those who are just starting and those who've been having and seeing huge results!

I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.

Hello- my name is Joani and I am 45 years old, soon to be 46 and am looking to get in better shape as I get older. My best friend told me about the Jamie Eason 12 Week program and I am now in Week 3 of Phase 1. Trying hard to stick to the plan, have had a few hiccups, but am hoping to be 100% focused by time I reach the end of Phase 1.

Hi Cin, great to have you with the team. I felt the same about the BB forums vs here. It seems more personable here. Love our team!
So let us know how it goes and if you have any questions.

Hi Hi Everyone!! I'm Cin, I am so glad to have found this group! I've been browsing on Bodybuilding.com wanting to find more information on female weight lifting for quite some time, and having Jamie's plan mirrored here is perfect since i feel more at home on SP.

My husband is an amateur weight lifter and isn't able to answer all my girly questions so I'm glad i found you all to help me on my path to getting stronger and leaner and not stronger and bulkier LOL. I can't wait to get to know everyone and to help each other along our journey.
