Hi! Welcome! I know what it's like to gain a lot of weight in one year. I gained 20 pounds last year for lots of reasons and I too am going to shed them.
I don't think you can drink too much water- but the 8 glasses a day SP recommends is probably plenty. Make healthy choices and don't stress about numbers fluctuating. Maybe your body is finally hydrated.
I think your March anniversary date is a great motivating event! I also noticed that you didn't say you were going to try to lose all 20 pounds by then and that is smart too. Good luck reaching your goals!
