Hi! I'm sure I'm not the only one with a crazy busy life, so I offer no excuses as to why I haven't posted yet. I am a chef/supervisor at a small private college in Southern Missouri. I have tried to lose weight many times, but have lost my oompf within a month each time. I am at about 6 weeks this time around and have had my share of ups and downs. Overall, I have lost about 13 lbs so far, which is more than I have ever lost before.
The hardest part is getting exercise. It seems like something always comes up to get in the way. I have lost the weight I have strictly through eating a very healthy, balanced diet. Let me tell you, that is a hard thing to do when it is literally your job to taste things all day long. ha!
So I am hoping by being more "plugged in" I can keep the momentum going and shed all this dead weight!
Slow and steady wins the race.
Be the change you want to see in the world.

Pam- I wish I could do that. If I have a scale then I become fixated with it. If it shows a gain then I sabotage myself. I decided to stop my fixation with the numbers by throwing my scale away.
I am trying to focus on just eating healthy and exercising for health reasons.

Good luck. I don't think I could ever go a whole month without weighing myself. I usually try to weigh myself every couple days to keep me focused.

I am Kelly and I too have been slow about posting. This is my 1st time trying the Spark plan. I am only weighing myself once a month so I don't know how much I have lost yet. My weigh in day is this Thursday.
My 1st goal is to lose 25lbs by March 30, 2012.

In doing this I have lost 9 pounds. It really makes you think about what you are doing. I an a nurse from southern Ohio.

I also joined a few weeks ago but haven't got around to posting yet. This is my first time using the Sparkpeople website. I read about the cookbook which brought me here. So far it seems like a very motivating and informative site.

Hi ~ I signed up a few weeks ago but have been slow about getting acclimated to this website and system. I was introduced to Sparkpeople after randomly selecting a book, "The Spark", from the "New Book" section in my local library. I'm looking forward to learning more and being active in the groups.
I am a SAHM and enjoy homeschooling and being with my husband and family exploring the beautiful world God created. I have about 25 pounds to shed and want to live a healthy life! My husband and I have been doing P90x for the last few months and I just recently started using a treadmill for jogging. I feel better for doing it but have not lost any pounds. I hope to learn healthy eating tips here, as well.
I look forward to changing my name from Losinwait to LosingWeight!! :)

Hi everyone. I am a repeat customer too. I joined once before but my heart wasn't in it and I did not give it a chance before I quit. Now, I think I am more positive and I am going to start over. I am 62 years old and I am a great grandmother already. My family is the main focus in my life. I was diagnosed with MS 16 years ago and had to retire from my job. I have lots of time on my hands because I don't see many people and my husband is still working. We live in the country. I have a beautiful little dog and I give her loads of attention. I also paint, knit and crochet when my hands are good. I really want to look and feel better and I intend to see this through to success.

I just joined the team, but I've been on Spark People since October 10th, tracking food and exercise and working on my goal to lose 15 pounds by the end of the year. My name is Lisa, I'm 28, and I live right outside of Boston. I had previously joined Spark People a few years back and had some pretty good success with it, but now I've put on some more weight and I need a fresh start!
I've started a blog of my own to track my fitness journey and all the ups and downs. Check it out if you're interested: msmarvelproject.blog.com. It's brand new, so I don't have very many readers yet.
I'm really looking forward to hearing about all of your journeys as well.

Hey guys! My name is Sarah and I am a 33 yo SAHM mama of 5. I have been here before but never did much with it. I am hoping that this times the charm, cuz I need it. My health has really declined in the last year. This school year is the first time my children are in school , as before that I homeschooled so I have no excuse. I know I have to get active and watch what I eat, but its soooo easy not to. So this week I am really working on my self worth, and motivation. I look forward to getting to know you guys, supporting and seeking support. Sarah

Hi everyone! My name is Liz, and I am 25 years old. About three years ago I adopted a vegetarian lifestyle and lost a considerable amount of weight. I've gained some back since then, and I really want to be able to live the healthiest lifestyle that I can. I workout a lot, so I know what I need is to be more aware of what I am eating. I'm hoping that I'll be able to make some changes that I can stick with to accomplish my goals.

Hi I am 41 and decided I needed to do this for me. It doesn't work when I try to lose weight for others. I am focusing on being healthy and making better choices.

Hi ~ I'm 27 years old, Newlywed, weight tends to hover around 205-210.
This is not my first go around on Spark. I tend to give up after awhile. My husband is underweight, so food that works for me doesn't always work for him.
Read my blog for reasons I joined. Its two-fold goals. Weight and mood.

I am a returning member to Sparkpeople. It probaby has been about 3 years since I was last on. I was very successful that last time I was on, and after a year of maintaining my weight, I decide to go off on my own. Over the last couple of years I got busy and started to let my good habits fall to the side. I turned 40 this year and want to get back into leading a healthy lifestyle. While I want to lose some weight, my goal is not so much about my appearance as it is about being healthy. II want to be around for many more years. Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things. Welcome to all of the new members here. I can say this program really does work if you stick with it.
Good luck everyone!

I found the site last night and am so amazed already! I'm just exploring the many things and found I had welcome email! I am 45 years old and finally have decided it's time to go on a peaceful and healthy journey of losing weight. As I reflect, my previous (and there are MANY) attempts at getting healthy was all about losing weight fast and furious. If I didn't, I was angry and turned to the foods that I'm now calling my 'angry' foods. I thought about it this morning, "I don't even think I taste or enjoy some of what I have been eating!" I'm really thankful for the 'Welcomes'. I've never used community sites before and I already feel less of a rookie!

This is not my first go round at Spark People. I love this site, and lost weight the last time. Then I let myself pile it back on plus some so I took a time out to do some reflection on my reasons for not wanting to be successful.
Iím back with valuable, personal insight and Iím ready to succeed because Iím important, too. My needs deserve to be met and I want to be healthy. I really WANT this!
So, if you are serious about losing the weight please add me as your friend and I will offer you support and hope for the same from you.
My name Zuki is just for fun so that I donít take myself overly seriously (except for staying on plan!). Of course, Wazooki is a fictional place, too. If you want to know the secret behind this handle, just ask. Meanwhile, just call me Zuki.

Hi everyone, I'm Emily and I'm going to be 21 on November 11th. It's really too late to lose substantial weight by my birthday but I am graduating from college on December 17th and hope to be down 20lbs by my graduation. In the end I want to be down to 140lbs, I am 195 right now. I was 140 at the beginning of college when I joined my sorority and I want to be that skinny again!

Hi! I am Angie and I came here to try to make some positive changes in my life. I hadn't heard about this site until yesterday. I've tried e-diets and WW but this seems to be very comprehensive and, best of all, free! I am excited to give this a try and I am hoping the support I get here will help.

Hi, I'm Darlene and I've been on Sparks before. I'm a bit of a yo-yo dieter. I can lose it in no time, but I can gain too. Would like to lose it for one final time and keep it off forever! Looking for a few faithful peeps that are serious about losing weight. You won't hear me whine and I really don't like whiners. Sorry! So if you're serious about losing and would like some support, please add me!

Hi There Everyone,
I just joined SparkPeople today and I'm hoping that this is the place to make and stick to my weight loss goals. I've been on many different programs, some with success and many without. I just turned 33 and decided it was time to rededicate myself to a healthy lifestyle.

I'm Sarra, I'm 19, 304 pounds and about to turn 20 this December. My goal for December is simple. I refuse to enter my 2's in the 300's. I need to be under 300 and I'd really like to be 290 to officially leave the hurdle.
I've bounced around 301-304 and even down to 291 but it keeps hitting back to a consistent 304ish and it's very discouraging to hit that over and over. I really need to be out of the 3's forever.
So my short term goal is 290 by December 5th My first mini goal is 299.9 by November 1st. My longer term goal right now is to see how my body is at 250.
I'm working on trying to hook up with SparkFriends that are working through their weight issues and maybe have some other things in common with me too, college, a fiance/husband, gaming, even the female gender.
Goal 1: 299 lbs on 12/5/11

I lost a lot of weight a couple of years ago, and have been basking in the glory of that for a little too long. The number on the scale is slowly creeping up, my fitness levels are way too close to square one again, my eating is pitiful, and I'm just sick and tired of having more bad days than good days!
I deleted my original spark account-- too much baggage there, good and bad! I'm starting with a clean slate and am excited to start fresh!
See you guys around! :D

Hi I'm Shannon, I first used sparkpeople about a year and a half ago when I first tried to start loosing weight, it helped a lot and I ended up loosing 25 lbs! However last fall I studied abroad in Ireland where I partied too much, ate junk late at night and rarely worked out, as a result I gained everything back and more. But now that I'm home, I just turned 21 and I'll be graduating from college in the spring, I'm back here to try again and stick to it this time!
