You are definitely on the right road. We just need to help you find that partner! You'll find that over time, certain Spark friends will connect with you on a level that truly becomes a friendship at a deeper level than supporter and encourager. It is hard to know when, why, and/or how those connections form. I suppose that it is somewhat like our face-to-face close friends. Close friendships take time and chemistry. I suggest that as you have time, join teams of people with similar goals or demographics as you. (For example, I joined as I approached my 50th birthday and found several teams of people at a similar place in life.) Once you've found a few teams that are a good match, start looking at the blogs and discussion topics for the group. Comment on blogs and discussion threads. Also "friend" people whose blogs and threads that interest you. Over time, you'll likely discover that they are responding to you and you keep checking back on them. Before you know it, I suspect you'll find someone to touch base with every day and who will help challenge and motivate you to avoid the extra calories!

Keep in touch!
Diane

Hi Diane,

I am indeed tracking every single morsel. I keep this page open pretty much all day (I work from home) so it's quite easy for me to do so.

I like your idea about an accountability partner. I will certainly seek that out! I can't really talk to anyone about my weight goals because everyone seems to just think I'm crazy and that I don't have to worry about my weight (coming from mostly family who happens to have always been overweight their whole lives and are not doing anything about it). I truly love the community that has been developed here at Spark.

Thank you for replying so quickly!

Best,
Crystal

Hi Crystal,

Are you tracking every single morsel you put in your mouth? I developed a competition with myself to stay within calorie range. Also, I got frustrated when I'd have to add calories because I "forgot" and took a bite of a candy bar or some other treat. That, in itself, helped motivate me to avoid extra food. If you're already doing this and are having trouble with motivation, I suggest that you look for an accountability partner -- possibly someone on SP or maybe a face-to-face friend who has similar goals.

Good luck!
Diane

Hi! I've been tracking for about a month now and am loving it!

Managing my eating habits has always been a problem for me and with the tracker, I can now see exactly what I need to do to reach to my goal!

The problem that I seem to still face however, is motivating myself to not binge. I hope that as I continue to use this fantastic tool and meet other inspiring Spark people, I will become stronger and not let the food get the best of me.
