Hi Melissa,

Welcome to SP! My cousin who first connected me to SP in 2009 started her weight-loss journey through the Couch to 5K program. She is now running marathons. She had a lot of weight to lose, too and found that the C25K program was just what she needed to get started. She did it alone, but encouraged me to try to find a running group. As it turned out, my knee started screaming, so I found other fitness things to meet my needs -- primarily wonderful exercise classes that incorporated cardio and toning. Regardless of what you do, with determination, you will be successful. Just keep reminding yourself of that when things get a little rough.

Hi!!!! my name is Melissa, I've started many diets many times, and obviously with 100 pounds to lose I haven't exactly changed my ways. This time I'm really going to try to create new activities to keep me active. I work full time, and usually by the time I get home I'm exhausted. I love running but I can't seem to do it for very long with all these extra pounds. So this is my goal: I want to shed the weight and 'become' a runner. I think if I have something that I love to do and am able to do that activity daily I will be able to keep myself in check. I would love to meet some people to start this journey with. I'm using the couch to 5k as a starting point to get myself on the treadmill. I'm on a very good and manageable food plan. I'm ready to make this work!!!
