Hi Cindi! What I do is count my calories and try to keep my carbs as low as possible. My biggest concern at the moment is calories. Once I master that, I will worry more about my carb intake. You need to find out how many calories you should be consuming for your size and try not to waver too much from that. For my size I should be consuming at a minimum 1700 calories. I want to burn at least 1000 calories more then that a day. I drink AT LEAST 1/2 my body weight in ounces of water a day (well, more so on weekdays so far). It is annoying to have to run to the bathroom so much because of the water intake but I just have to remind myself why I am doing it. I've been getting up early every morning before work (I am NOT a morning person) and going to the gym. I've worked myself up to 30-45 minutes on the arc trainer and I have been slowly incorporating weights. I would rather just do the cardio but I would also rather not have as much flab when I do lose the weight so I'll do as much as I can. Some evenings when it is cool enough, my husband and I will ride our bikes on the trail. One day I rode 5.41 miles. That is HUGE for me!
You may not be able to start out exercising as long or going as far, but try to go a little further every day. Just a little, unless you can do more.
More on food and drink-I drink only water, crystal light and a just a little bit of diet mountain dew. I allow myself one single serving dove dark chocolate every day-one a day is very good for you AND I love them..BONUS! After being very strict the past few weeks I have decided to allow myself one cheat meal a week (which I had today). I wouldn't have been able to handle just one cheat meal a few weeks ago.
That's about it. Sorry I have been so long winded. I tend to do better if I feel like I am helping someone else so, if you want to be buddys, that would be great! I need support and would love to give support as well.
There are risks and costs to a program of action. But they are far less than the long-range risks and costs of comfortable inaction. -John F. Kennedy
