Hey!! Thanks for forming this group...I'd been looking for an MCM team so I'm glad you started one. ILAGIRL invited me to join! My name is Debra and I live in Northern Virginia. MCM will be my first marathon, so my goal is really just to finish. I am currently training with DC RRC on Saturday mornings.

Nice to meet everyone!

Welcome CARYNW!!! I am glad you are so excited. I know as the mileage goes the more excited I get. Plus I the higher the mileage gets the less I ask myself "what have I Done." If you have any questions please post and everyone will try to help.

Looks like I found the right group! I'm former active duty.. 4 years in the Air Force, stationed at the Pentagon. I remember how crazy everything got every year when they held the MCM, and I've always wanted to run it, so I'm super-pumped that I'm signed up! This will be my first marathon, too. We're planning to get there Friday night, my 7-year old is doing the kid's run on Saturday, and then Sunday, or course, is go-time!

I'm using the FIRST training method.. 2 weekday runs with a combined mileage equivalent to my LSD weekend run, strength training in between. Up to 13 miles so far, and doing great!

Thanks to both of your for your service, looks like I'll be in great company for my first full marathon!

Don't think, just do

I'm sure your family is looking forward to having you home! My husband was over there a couple years ago and so I know a little bit of what you're going through. Hang in there with the long runs - I can't imagine doing them in the desert!

I am a local but i am currently in Iraq. I will be home in plenty of time for the race but long runs in the desert suck.

This was such a great idea to start this! First of all - thank you for your service to our country!!
Are you a local? Just curious b/c if you are there's a Galloway group that runs on Saturday mornings. I just joined a couple weeks ago and couldn't be happier with that choice. If you're a local and want info on it just let me know and I'll get it to you. I invited a couple of my other sparkers who are running the MCM to join the group. Happy running!

As far as intro - I started running about 2 years ago. I'm a tortoise but love it! I've done 2 half marathons and decided to take the full marathon plunge. I've got a great cheering section made up of my husband and our dog Bells. MCM or bust!

I created this page because I am excited for the 2011 Marine Corps Marathon because it is my first marathon and I have seen tons of interest in other forums. I am active duty military with a great wife and four gorgeous daughters. I am using the Galloway Training Plan and I am progressing quite well.
