Hi All, I've joined up with the team and am really thrilled to be able to do this 60 day challenge for you, even though I'm a little late starting. I've been on SP since January 2008 but never got serious about the weight issue until the last couple of years after sickness and surgery pretty much forced me into it.
I won't go into details as what happened is all in my blogs on my SPage....but briefly, I got very sick New Year's weekend of 2010 and went to the hospital with two abscesses in my colon. They burst and I had emergency surgery and ended up with a colostomy. After three weeks in the hospital, I went to a nursing home for rehab. Then incision opened up and I became infected and had a wound vac for the open wound for seven months. I finally switched surgeons and was told to lose at least 50 pounds before he would even attempt to repair the wound, fix the stoma hernia and reverse the colostomy. I had already lost a few pounds but he didn't count that so I went on and lost about 60 more pounds and had my surgery on February 29, 2012. It was a rough surgery that took 5 1/2 hours!
I still have a long way to go and find that challenges and weigh-ins are really helpful for me. Thank you to the team leaders for creating this challenge.
from your new Spark friend,

Good Morning~ My friends call me Fe or Fefe :) Makes me think of a tiny poodle. I've been lurking around Spark People since last year. In March I began trying, maybe not 100%, but still trying, to modify my eating habits. My wake up call was a doctor's visit weight of 277. Seems I just kept gaining! Having tried many other approaches in the past I thought to try the HCG injections and an appetite suppressant. I am serious about avoiding bariatric surgery. Last week my weight was 259.7, this week 263 after a cave in to fried chicken. Eleven years ago I quit smoking. I went to classes, used guided imagery and a website support " quitnet.com" (HIGHLY RECOMMEND!). Some days the only thing that kept me from lighting up was the daily pledge taken with other members in a cyber chat room.(I wouldn't know them if I hit em with my car, but that was a serious pledge!) So as I have continued to struggle with this weight, (it's been like wrestling with the devil!)I began to think about what it took to successfully quit smoking. Well Spark people, looks like I'm gonna be here for a while. Structure, external aids, tracking widgets, community support and daily commitment seem to be tools for success for me. I am reaching out here to request your help and support to keep me accountable for my dietary and exercise actions or lack of. I have a bad left shoulder, a tendency to develop tendinitis easily and a lot of excuses. There's a lot of emotion attached to this weight. Seems like this 60 day challenge is for me. Looking forward to meeting you all. Thanks in advance for your support, I will endeavor to be supportive as well and perhaps not too needy. Thanks.

Hi, I'm Sarah. (cue echo {Hi Sarah})
I have a finishing problem. I'll start things, but then later on... *SHINEY!* oh...um...sorry. Anyways, as I was saying, I'll start things and slowly get lost in the fast lane of life and "not have time" to finish if it's "not that important". Unfortunately, Sparkpeople has become one of those things I start and end up saying, "I'll finish it later." Later never comes however. :P I am currently sitting at a proud, 181, but still have a lot to lose. Hopefully with this challenge and Coach Nicole's 28 day Boot camp, I'll actually be able to lose a substantially amount of weight in a decent amount of time...that is, if I finish it. ;)

Hi! I'm late too but it will help me jump start my program being here with such an active group.
Today is for me - officially.
I'm from Dunwoody, GA, I'm married to a very active man and I'm working toward an extreme hike as my ultimate goal in July 2012. I'm ready to go!
Real Name (optional): Audrey Current Weight: 195 Weight Loss Goal for 40 days: 10 - 12 lbs Other NSG (non scale goals): For this challenge, just to keep within my Spark calorie range, which I guess is related to the scale but. It's all I've got for now.

Well, I am a little late joining this so this will be more like the 40 day challenge for me, but better late than never, right?
I am a mom of 3 beautiful children (11, 9, 5) and 4 angels. I started my weight loss journey at 180+ pounds and at a size 16. Last summer I was able to get to my lowest weight of 156 and have managed to creep back up into the 170's again. However, I am now a size 8-10 instead of 16 and that hasn't changed! I am delighted to know that I can get to the 150's now I just have to get back there.
In the course of my weight loss journey I have become a runner. I've gone from never having run to doing 5K's, 10K's, and now I have completed 4 half marathons. I am running another one in November and would like to achieve a PR.
Real Name (optional): Candi Current Weight: 174 Weight Loss Goal for 60 days: 6-8 pounds or inches lost instead...I am notorious for not losing weight but having my clothes fit better...go figure! Other NSG (non scale goals): 1. Curb the night time eating monster! I feel like I eat really well between when I wake up and 8:00 p.m. but once the kids are in bed, watch out! My goal: fruits, veggies, cheese and crackers, healthy options only! 2. Strength training 2x's (body pump) per week I did this for a long time last summer and have gotten away from it. 3. Cardio 4x's per week in addition to the strength training. 4. Get back to pedometer usage with a goal of 12,000 steps per day (not counting exercise) 5. Paint downstairs woodwork, kitchen, and living room...we've lived in our house for 6 years now and it is time for some maintenance and color changes!
I look forward to being a part of this challenge and getting to know some new sparkfriends!

Hello all!
I saw this challenge out there and thought it would fit me perfect (unlike my shorts at the present time).
I have been a member of SP for some time, but not very active. I hope to be on the site more encouraging others and getting some encouragement in return. I have the summer off since I started working for the school district this past fall. So what better timing!
I followed WW for many years and had lost 60 pounds getting down to 155. Well this last year I quit paying for WW online and started slacking off. Not good. I have learned I need to track, track, track........ I have since put back on almost 15 pounds. I need to work on getting that back off, plus hopefully get down to 150.
So HERE I AM!
Real Name (optional): Becky Current Weight (optional): 168.8 Weight Loss Goal for 60 days: to have the scale continue to go downward, not upward. No real pounds in mind as I lose slowly and if I don't make goals I seem to sabbatoge myself. So as long as I am down come September i will be happy dancing. Other NSG (non scale goals): For my shorts to start to fit better.

Was in a backslide until I had a mini meltdown yesterday & am here to get back on track!
Real Name (optional): Amy Current Weight (optional): 148 lbs Weight Loss Goal for 60 days: 8-10 lbs Other NSG (non scale goals): change the shape of my body- get more definition back- which i lost over the last several months- just be more comfortable in my own skin :)

Hello fellow challengers, My name is Joan and I live in Southwest Colorado. I have been a SparkPeople member for some time now. It has kept me on track to some degree - at least with my healthy lifestyle goals. My weight just keeps fluctuating around the same set point and I need something to kickstart some real weight loss. At the end of this challenge I intend to have my weight at 130 or less. I weighed in at 135.5 this morning; not good at all. It is difficult for me to lose weight. I usually eat within my calorie range and exercise nearly every day. So my NSG is to increase the length of time I spend exercising by at least 50% and to try to keep my caloric intake at the lower end of my range.

Hi! My name is Katherine, I joined sparkpeople in January. Been having a hard time finding my groove into this weight loss journey. But I want it and need it badly. I have lost a total of only 13 pds since Christmas and keep losing and gaining the same 6 pds for months now. I decided to do this challenge because my Wildflower team is encouraging it and I think its a great idea and necessary for me to challenge myself in order to reach goals. I am challenging myself to track everything and stay within my calorie range, and to get my excersizing in each week of walking at least 30 minutes 5 x's a week for this 60 day challenge. I am excited about sharing goals and working toward making them happen together. There is something about watching others achieve their goals, that spurs me on to make mine. Go Team!

Hi My name is Lisa and I am excited to be apart of this group. I've been on the weight loss and gain roller coaster ALL my life. I truly hate setting goals as I tend to go right into fighting with myself to achieve them. BUT . . . I will not let past failures influence today's success! My two main goals are: 1. 150 minutes of exercise each week. (Will hopefully add to this in time) 2. Eat within my allotted calorie budget. I look forward to getting to know all of you on this journey and being inspired a long the way by your success.

Hello everyone! I'm so glad to have found this team. I'm taking a deep breath and signing up.
Real Name (optional): Dalena Current Weight: 196 Weight Loss Goal for 60 days: I don't know what to expect. I'm just going to do the best I can at my goals and then see what happens with the weight. Other NSG (non scale goals): I have all my goals listed on my tracking page.
This is good timing for me. This is a big month for me! As of July 1st I am now on Medicare. On July 17th I turn 65! CanNOT believe it!! I still feel so young in my heart and soul, and yet, the body continues to age!
I've been a member of SP for 6 months now and have only made a dent in the amount of weight I need to release, so I am hoping this challenge will give me the motivation I need. Thank you, Patti, for starting this team!
Blessings for all!

There's nothing wrong with using the word "diet". It comes from the Greek word "diaita", meaning way of life. So to lose weight and keep it off we need to change our way of life.

I am looking forward to this challenge and also, to getting to know my fellow team members.

Sorry I'm a little late. My went crazy the other day and I've missed dayz of Sparkpeople. It's so true what they say... "You never miss a real good thing until it's gone." Although I did miss it immensely, it's just what I needed to jumpstart me again. I'm ready to tackle this challenge.

Hi team!! I'm joining from Vancouver, Canada. I've also gained back everything I've lost last year (and some), so this challenge is GREAT for me, before I'm returning to school in Edmonton, Alberta. I might be a little MIA from 17-27 July, because my uncle is coming to visit and I haven't seen any extended family in 7 years (we all live on different continents). AND... I almost forgot... I was pointed in this sweet direction by Wildflowerr_ too!
Current Weight: 153 lbs Weight Loss Goal for 60 days: 8 - 10 lbs Other NSG (non scale goals): 1) Fit into the beautiful jean I bought last year when I was at my best weight. I'll post a picture when I achieve this goal! 2) Establish the habit of exercise and tracking.

Hi I'm so glad Donna aka Wildflowerr found this great challenge I will try to follow best as possible, but right now life here is kinda hectic. My time on the comp can vary. I do know one thing... without the support of my SP buddies I would have already failed to the point of no return. The last few weeks I have taken a wee bit of a detour (like 6 lbs gained) but I'm getting back on the right road.... I need to stick to a daily exercise routine and logging everything.
Real Name (optional): Jackie Current Weight: 178 Weight Loss Goal for 60 days: 8 - 10 lbs would be great but at this point I just want the scales to go down....not creep up! Other NSG (non scale goals): I want to continue to get things organized in my home. Hope to have a garage sale and recycle some of my unwanted stuff. Make a daily Me time where I can study (not just read) my Bible

Real Name (optional): Leah Current Weight: 154 Weight Loss Goal for 60 days: 10-12 lbs (but if I lose inches instead I'll be happy) Other NSG (non scale goals):
To break my 30-year scale addiction (I've been weighing almost every day since I was a teenager!) I'm going to ask my husband to hide the scale for this entire challenge. I want to move my focus from weight (which really just measures gravity) to health.
I will be running 14 miles a week (that's a maintenance running schedule during the 2 hottest months of the year), exercising to burn at least 3000 calories a week, and trying to stay in range while eating healthy foods.
I'm 44 years old, mom of an 18 year old son who will leave for college during this challenge, and a 15 year old daughter. I'm excited to be part of this team and meet some new Spark Friends!

After reading more throughout the pages here, I have to say I am NOT a religious person, and I hope that won't cause me to be unwanted here. I love the idea of a 60-day challenge; I was looking for one because my old one was ending. Can I still stay here??
