Yikes! I signed onto co-lead while Hazel was away, and realized I never introduced myself!
My name is Cathy and I'm a SAHM to my 6 & 4 y.o. sons. I've been married to my highschool sweetheart for 13 years and we live in small town Iowa with my 2 crazy yellow labs. I started running last summer with a goal to complete our local 5k in mid-August, and then I stopped running. Picked it up again this spring and am completely addicted all over again with no plans of stopping. I love the virtual races here on spark since entry fees are a bit of a luxury for me, so I'll be doing the Halloween 10k trot here on spark, and have been running virtual 5ks all summer (with one scheduled this week as a matter of fact!). My goal is to complete a half marathon next spring at the University of Notre Dame's Sunburst races, and am looking at maybe doing our local 1 mile family run in August, and the Quad City Bix in July (we'll see if the half does me in or not!).

My name is Wendy and I am in Pittsburgh PA. I spent 18 months from June 2009 to December 2010 learning a new healthy lifestyle of eating right and becoming active and lost 126 lbs.
Since then I have been learning to maintain a healthy weight and setting new fitness goals. I completed the 5K Rookie training this spring and also just completed the 5K Running plan a couple of weeks ago. I am in week 2 of the SparkPeople 12-week 10K training plan.
My first "official" 5K is scheduled for June 18 (benefits a local homeless mission).
I am consistently running 3 days per week according to whatever current plan I am following. Working now on figuring out my best pace and looking for great tunes to use to help me stay on pace.
What training program are you using for trying to cut 25+ seconds off your time? Doing intervals? Maybe you answered that below. I'll look, so no need to answer here if it is below.
I'm 61 years old and just started running in January. I live in central Florida, so I am experiencing increasing temperatures and humidity. Just don't know how I'll handle it.
I only have one daughter who'll be 30 next week and two granddaughters, 8 months and 4 years. They live a couple blocks from me. When my daughter and son in law are working, or sometimes playing, I keep them. Most of the time it is a lot of fun. I feel blessed to be able to do it even when it isn't fun.
Right now I work 2 days a week at a nonprofit agency, but July will probably be my last work month with maybe one day a week. Then I'll be officially retired. My hubby will soon be 70 and he has just retired.
More of my race experiences are below. I have an appointment with a personal trainer on Friday for the first time and have fingers crossed that I'll find some answers I need. I'm thinking of doing a 10K in Nov and have toyed with the idea of a half marathon in January, but just not sure. We'll see.
