Hi ladies1 Sorry to be MIA, but I have bene suffering from migraines for over 2 weeks now and the computer is not the friend of someone with a migraine! today is the first day I've felt "normal" if I even know what normal feels like any more. One of the meds my dr put me on is a beta blocker, which, will slow my metabolism, since it slows heart rate. Yet another obstacle to lsing weight and another reason to avoid the scale as a tool of validation of self worth (which we already know is not helpful to my mental state...) I just want to get back to my fitness minutes. I am dying to swing a kettlebell tonight and get in my long run of 6 miles this weekend!

I have a massage appoiontment at 4:30 and am hopig this will help alleviate some the tension and stress that could be triggering these migraines. Anyhoot, hope all is well!

Shelley, I will tell you that the hardest part of Intuitive Eating is feeling for the first time what hunger feels like. First time I felt it was this winter. After that, even though it is HARD WORK NOT using food to feed your emotions, at least you know WHEN you're doing it, and you can work on the actual issues at hand. I BELIEVE IN u ur awesome!!!! :D :D :D :D U GOT THIS.

Cathy- Beautifully put about being open and willing to explore your fears. emoticon

Hi Shelley - I went to Canada (DBF lives there). We went to two U2 concerts, one in Winnipeg and one in Edmonton. We met at a U2 concert almost two years ago lol. We are talking about getting married, but having to decide where to live complicates things. Part of why I've been overeating lately is that I'm afraid, for the first time in our relationship, that things won't work out. Admitting that isn't easy, I've been so sure he's "the one" and somehow it will all magically work out. I have been hoping we'd get engaged this summer, but I don't think that will happen until we figure out where to live and . . . we haven't figured out where to live. Sigh.

But at least now I'm actually *thinking* these thoughts instead of eating to avoid thinking them!

Cathy, where did you journey on vaca?

I have found keeping a food journal to see patterns of when and why and what I am eating is helpful when I've been stuffing myself. Identifying why we are eating when we think about food can be so complex, yet is very helpful to get to the root of the problem. It sounds like you are on the right track to getting yourself back on the road to being healthy and mindful!

Hi everyone,

I haven't been around much lately, but am going to make an effort to be more active on this team! I was on vacation for 10 days, then had a crazy couple weeks at work but now life is more normal and I'm ready to really join in!

I have been overeating lately, and my determination to "get back on track" has only distracted me from the real issue and exacerbated the problem. I've been doing great with exercise (Jillian's Ripped in 30, walking, SP 28 Day Bootcamp) but have eaten my way through the evenings or overeaten at work during the day (sometimes both). The emotions I've been stuffing have finally risen to the surface - the fear I was trying to avoid has finally been described in words. I think that's the first step in stopping the mindless, emotional, even self-destructive eating I've been engaging in this week.

I set my relaxed intent to be gentle with myself and explore the fears and insecurities that have triggered old coping mechanisms. I reassure my stomach that I will let it decide when to eat; I will not continue to expect it to fix something that it cannot fix.

I appreciate your support on this journey and look forward to supporting you all, too!

Thanks Alisa. I love the cookie dough story.

I am back to 184 on my scale after being up to 186 on my scale at weigh in last week, so, I think it was from PMS etc...I am finding myself eating less og the high fatty stuff and back to the leaner healthier stuff that is also filling... not because I should but because I wanht to. I hate feeling stuffed and bloaty and now am trying to remind myself of that feeling so I can stop before getting there.

Thank goodness for you ladies!

Hey, I hope your hubby is ok... big ouch! emoticon

I am tracking my food and activities to see if I can find patterens to migraine triggers...made it until 8:00 pm yesterday without one! This is a step in the right direction!

Ok, feeling more centered and calm... ooommmmm emoticon

Like Dimitra told me and Geneen said in one of her books she went up right after she started doing the IE but once she got used to listening to her body her weight leveled off than started to drop. It will come babe. I am to the leveling off stage i think cause i went up than kinda leveled off. I am hoping to drop soon. But I will leave that up to my body. Once your body gets used to being able to eat whatever you want at that particular time it will stop asking for higher cal and fat items or you will full faster when eating them. Don't give up it will come hun You are doing great!!!! ( Geneens story about this was when she first started and all she wanted to eat was cookie dough)

so, I went to the dr yesterday because of the migraines I've bgeen having so frequently and of course had tog et on the scale... 1-freakin- 90 I have never seen that number on thscale. I feel so digsuted with myself and am struggling with not going back to counting calories... I restarted keeping a food journal.. just jotting down what I'm eating and when no calories or portions... I am starting my period today and have been workign out a lot so I'm not throwing in the towel but I am so frustrated! I feel gross and defeated.

Deep dpwn, I know this is right. Intuitive Eating I mean. But I am really struggling with this huge increase in the number on the scale. It REALLY impacted me and I can't get that number out of my head.

Guidance and soothing words please???

YAY!!!! Alisa! Just read and commented on your blog... that's where I have trou7ble the most too... being a life time member of the clean plate club!

I too, love this little slice of heaven where we aren't discussing calories in/calories out.. I love our spy pals, and heck I wouldn't know you ladies if I wasn't a spy, but, I'm finding myself having conflicting feelings and censoring myself on the page and feeling guilty at times for "not pulling my weight" on weigh in day and challenges etc... anyway I love the commraerie of the BLC, but I'm ready for the break...

I got anothe rbad sinus headache yesterday with "blurry vision" and decided against the yoga x scheduled workout. Today, so far so good. Used the netty pot this am, took a decongestant/pain releiver and seem to be ok so far....

Today is legs and back... emoticon

I missed my run this morning so, I'll just do my long run on Sunday and then continue with the schedule... no harm no foul.... no guilt. It is what it is...

Getting sod delivered for our "instant grass" this weekend! VERY excited to not have amud pie backyard anymore! Taking my siste rout for her birthday tonight. The place we're going has the BEST salad bar ever.. very excited! Yes, I'm excited for salad. lol

And, oh yeah this team called the BOSTON BRUINS is in Canada for game 5 against the Canucks.. WOOT WOOT.. series is all tied up! Anxious excitement for tonight!

Heellllooooo????

Anybody here?

Lol...

Dimitra, when's that test of yours? I'm sure you'll rock it.

Didn't get up for my run this am. Was out at the theatre until 11 and wasn't settled into bed until about 11:30/12.
I need my sleep or I am VERY irritable and zombie like so, I made the choice to to sleep until 6, which still wasn't even enough.. oh well. The show was FABULOUS and I got to spend some time with one of my bestest girl firends.

Will run tomorrow am and sunday can be my long run. Would run tonight, buuuuutt... it's going to be topping out at 97 degrees and super humid with severe thunderstorms...so, I will be sticking to yoga X...

P 90x is certainly killer, just the challenge I needed to compliment my 1/2 marathon training. Today is day 4. Arms are definielty feeling it! A little scared for tomorrows leg and back workout! Sunday is probably a better day for the long run because this anyhow... See, everything works out.

What does everyone have planned for the weekend?

Bruins Canucks game 5 tomorrow night and taking my lil sister out for her birthday... laid back..

Getting sod for our back yard Saturday.. yay instant grass!

Well, my dad had ripped up my backyard and we are attempting to level it out.... so, this weekend, i will be raking dirt.. lots of fitness minutes! This afternoon I have a run planned and my long run for Sunday will be at least 4.5 miles.

Bruins are playing game 2 of Stanley cup finals Saturday night so I'll be glued to my couch for that....

Laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping.. normal and average weekend....

I hope European Law is interesting....

Longest run thus far is 3.5. Going for 4 tomorrow am before it gets too hot and 5 on Saturday. Have to learn to pace myself... I'm so far behind in my training, but, if I can do the 4 and 5 I should be back on track.

Yay running!

How was everyone's weekend???

I had ice cream for dinner the last 2 nights and enjoyed every single bite. No guilt. no over stuffing. Ice cream, I do believe, is the perfect hot summer night dinner. emoticon

Didn't "work out" all weekend, but was busy working in the ayrd, building walls, planting veggies and visiting with friends. it was just the type of weekend i needed and actually feel rested and refreshed!

Packed my running clothes so I can change at work and go to the beach or a nearby lake to run... I think I need a nature inspiration with my running... I have that 1/2 marathon Aug 7th so I really need to focus on my training... I just haven't wanted to run and my left leg has been achey.... I won't push it too much.. Just want to go and enjoy my run.

I'm feeling pretty good mentally. Relaized tomorrow was wiegh in for BLC, but , you know what? I really don't feel anything abgout it. It is what it is. I don't know if I'll feel the same way tomorrow if it's up, but I'm not going to let that stupid number dictate my mood. I did imbide in more booze this wekend than normal, as well as lot's of bbq fare, so, I can kinda expect it.

Anyhoot, I'm so happy we have this team and there won't be any "I'm so bad, I ate a piece of chocolate" or "I I'm so stupid. I went over my calorie range" talk here. It really does weigh on me emotionally.
