Hi and welcome to the team! We're so glad to have you with us on our journey(s) to better health. This is a fantastic team and you'll receive a lot of support and encouragement here - just be sure to post often and let us know how you're doing and how we can help you.

I'm a stress & emotional eater, too. In fact, I'm a member of the Emotional Eaters team and the Dealing with Depression team, as I've had lifelong depression, OCD, and GAD. You can make some great friendships on Spark - hopefully, that will help with some of your loneliness - even though we're not together face-to-face, the support and affection we form with other members is very real.

Nice to have you on the team. There is alot of support here so don't hesitate to reach out.
One thing I have learned here on SP, and my one suggestion to you, would be to be kind to yourself. Life is difficult sometimes, we aren't perfect, no one is.... we need to treat ourselves as we would treat our best friend, but somehow we are always our worst enemy.

As others here have said, take small steps. Small steps add up to big changes, and when you slip up (we all do), don't beat yourself up, just make the next thing you do a healthy choice. emoticon emoticon

Glad you found Spark People but more so, this team. I think a lot of us that carry the extra weight "feel" things more and we don't handle certain life situations well. Food is our first go to and as you said in you posting "you want to get a handle on that".

This team has wonderful people who have really made fantastic changes in their lives and are not afraid to share the good and the bad. They are great teachers, mentors, and little angels that support and guide us on the rough spots etc.

Stick with this and you will see results. Keep posting and sharing. Wishing you the very best on your journey to a healthy you.

I made another step today..I exercised..lol Mind you , it was for only 15 mins and I was breathing heavy and sweating but it was a big thing for me to do it. I have all of these Xbox Kinect and Wii exercise games, Biggest Loser, You Shape, etc...and I never do them. I buy them, open them, put them in and look at them.....and dont get around to actually doing them. So one more baby step :) Thanks so much again for making me feel welcome here. I think this is what I needed to make me feel good with ME .

I am the same way...hubby says we're going to do this together but it never happens! You have to just decide you will do it no matter what!! Do it for YOU!! Take one day at a time...start out with small goals, like just tracking your food, drinking more water or adding more veggies, and work your way thru to bigger and better things!!

Thanks so much for the welcome :) I am so worried on how to handle the hurdles life hands me. I think that is the hardest thing. I have managed to lose over 100 pounds in the past and was finally on my way I thought to getting healthy, and finding myself for the first time, and then all of the things I mentioned before happened, and I have gained ALL of the weight plus 50 more pounds back :(. I adore my husband, but he likes to eat, and he likes to eat out quite a bit. So we did....and it wasnt healthy choices. He has said he is serious also now about losing weight and wants to get healthy with me, but honestly, he has said this before and hasn't followed through with me so I have ended up just throwing in the towel before with him. But this time, I REALLY want this. Regardless if he sticks with it or not...I WANT THIS! And this time I WILL get to where I need to be for ME.

I have been a member of the team for a few weeks, but just could not get motivated to post, or participate. I have hit that point finally. I got on the scale this morning and realized it had went up yet again. I WILL be making some life changes and I WILL finally take care of ME. I have struggled through alot over the past three years, from losing my job, taking on the responsibility of helping to raise a defiant ADHD teenager who was "dumped" on my new hubby and I after being married for one month when his mother decided she was tired of dealing with him, and then uprooting and moving to another state where I knew no one when my hubby retired from the Air Force. It has been really difficult being away from my daughters and new Granddaughters. I stress eat terribly, but I want to get a handle on that. I really want to be able to connect with other people on here who know what it is like to have the set backs, and learn how to handle those and hurdle through them. I dont know many people in my area and I am a SAHM so it has been really hard connecting to anyone and getting out of this Rut I feel I am in. I AM going to do better though, and I AM going to make myself get on here daily and at least read something and stay motivated. I want to be able to run with my son and keep up with him. I want to be healthy, and be able to go to the mall and walk without feeling like my knees and back are dying after just a few minutes. I know I am way overweight, but I also know that I CAN and WILL lose this weight. I cant wait to get to know you all!
