Like you I do exercises in bed. Nothing to be ashamed about. The fact that we get exercise done is what it is really about.

There is no shame in doing exercises in your bed.
I cannot do exercises on the floor either, because I have had my knees replaced, and I cannot get myself up again after I get down. I hope that with weight loss I will be better able to do that. Keep fighting at it.

Good Morning Everyone.....I wake up some mornings and do some light cardio while I'm still in bed. I will do my leg lifts, scissors, and all the other exercises I can think of while laying down. I can't get into the floor because of my knees. I can't put ANY pressure on my knee caps at all.
I feel lazy and inadequate for laying there cheating as I call it, but maybe later on if I manage to get rid of all this fat I will be able to do the exercises in a normal way! emoticon

Welcome Bernice. Your story, and the support I see for you here has inspired me. I will go to exercise tomorrow, because I know I can. You can do it. You can work out in your wheelchair. Beth started by lifting shampoo bottles in her bed.

I am on track one day and off the next, but I am still headed forward one step and one bite at a time!

Hi Bernice,

Ok girl, I'm with you! YOU CAN DO IT AND IT IS WORTH IT! Sorry for the caps folks, I just really want you Bernice to believe that you can do it because just 9 short months ago I was pretty much in your shoes and now I've lost 92 lbs (started at 300 lbs) and am mobile! I'm close to you in age and medical issues too, and I too never thought I could make it this far, but I've surprsied myself. Please believe I feel so much empathy for you because I understand how hard it is, and I used to wonder if it was worth the effort too, but it is, and that will become clear once you achieve a few of your goals. This site has really helped me even though I hardly ever post, because of all the amazing people out there who sound just like me and who've had success. Please hang in there, I'm rooting for you! I started by making very small but permanent changes and it just got easier. I know you can do it, please don't give up on yourself! emoticon

My name is Bernice and I have been battling my weight in what seems like forever. I have Type 2 Diabetes, and am wheelchair bound (due in most part to my weight). I am 63 years old and currently weigh 325 pounds....the most I've ever weighed. I have tried so many times to lose weight (most recently the Weight Watchers Point Plus Program). I always start off gung-ho but then somehow, someway I lose my motivation. Since I had to retire early for health reasons, lately my line of thinking has been, "Oh, what's the use? You're too old to get this weight off. You might just as well stay fat and eat what you want." But you see, I don't want to live that way. I'm losing pieces of myself (both physically and emotionally) every day. I want to enjoy life again. I'm hoping that this site will indeed give me that "Spark" that I nee
