8 days isn't so long - bit also its a lifetime when you are focussed on losing!!
Just remember that there are a lot of other ways of measuring success - tapemeasure, lose clothes, more stamina, more mobility, more flexibility, feeling great etc - when ewe are on a lifetime program as this is we need to focus on the other benifits!!
Having said all that - Ireally feel that tightening up on portions and just watching those extras - that will pay dividends

Yes, I will do those things. I probably shouldn't be freaking out...it's only been 8 days. The weighing and checking portions carefully and watching the little extras that ultimately add up....that's one I can really focus on. I am getting water and am at the low end of my calorie range and I keep my sodium down, so it's not water weight...I hope. I am going to be more careful about portions and cut the little extras that most of the time I don't count. Thanks so much for your input! emoticon

The best advice I can give is to go back to basics - go back to the beginning - and start with baby steps - track all food very carefully and then add water as well.
Follow the challenges with Beth.
Try eating at the lower end of your calorie range too - and check that your macronutrients are balanced - that your eating plan isn't fat or carb heavy!!
Often when you slide or plateau iy is because you are getting a bit "lax" in following through your program, maybe not measuring portions carefully, or thinking "that little bit extra" - these are the things that start the slide!!
Another motivational idea is to go round SP - read about successes in the success gallery and comment on other people's successes!!
With a plateau - you could well find that it is an adjustment thing for your body.
I take a photo of me every month - so often when I don't lose weight I can look back and see differences in my body - adjustments.
It is very important that you do stay on program wnen you hit a plateau and don't slide - eventually the weight loss will start again!!
Another thing is to try changing your exercise, maybe do some both morning and afternoon, or change what you do - change walking for swimming for example. or do more exercise!! This can help shake a plateau sometimes.

I start off great then get discouraged and fall right back into my old destructive habits. Even if I have made nice progress, like this last time with 8 pounds, I slide. I have thought many times that I am addicted to crummy food. I do like my veggies and fruits. I love whole grain bread. Trouble is, I also like crappy drive-thru stuff and chips.

I feel lousy all the time and am tired (literally!) of it. This is a good team for me to be on.

I stumble all the time. The trick is to forgive yourself and move on. I really do live by my indyisms.

I think a lot of keeping going is because as you lose weight, and especially in my case size, it sort of gets addictive!!
I'm in my 10th year now and I have set up all my bases - I have a healthy eating plan and a heap of my own recipes, I have an exercise schedule and I honestly can't imagine ever going back to old habits.
The exercise took a lot of commitment - and I hated it - really hated it with a passion - but now I love doing it - I found things I could do comfortably allowing for osteoarthritis in both knees, ankles and hips - I even do Zumba now!!
I loved going to Curves - but I was only able to go there after I had lost a heap by doing chair exercise at home - and that introduced me to Zumba - but owing to the financial situation I have had to leave Curves - but I have my DVDs at home and I do it here!! I can Zumba my hips to my hearts content at home too - it was a bit of a self conscious thing doing it in a group!!

Honestly it is possible - and so worthwhile to lose, to become healthier - but it does take commitment and effort.

I would love to know how you have kept on going and not stumbled and gained your weight back.

I got to my lowest weight in 30 years - 227 about 2 years ago and have put almost all of it back on, even though I continue to work at it, I have never been able to get that spark back into my program to continue to lose regulary.

I just want to learn how to write half as good as you do, that's what I want. One of these days, when I get to my goal, or along the way, I plan on writing a book. I want to be able to hold peoples attention like you do.
