Hi all. So glad I found this forum because I am wondering where do I start? Finishing my 3rd year of chemo and so exhausted and 100 pounds heavier thanks to the steroids. I have the dvds and just am wondering is there a certain place I should start? Breathing? Work outs? I was so encouraged yesterday by the video of the woman who weighed 345 pounds and lost it all without surgery. That is how I feel, as if I am locked in a prison. The prison is my own body. I hate even looking in the mirror, I don't understand how my husband can still find me attractive. I know I should be eternally grateful that I have beaten the cancer and am in remission but I feel now that I am killing myself with food. This is such a lonely place to be. I feel old, tired and at my wits end. If you can recommend where I should start on the dvds, please feel free to get back to me. Thanks so much for reading.

Hi everyone! Iím Steph and I live in the Bay Area of CA. Iím in the middle of week 3 of DDP Yoga. I started with the intermediate schedule. I also go to live classes at my local yoga studio 3x a week. Iím luviní all of it! It really makes a difference not only in my weight but in my ability to do more Yoga.

I am starting the program tonight (a day later then I wanted). I will be doing the 13 week beginner routine then move up too intermediate and eventually up to advanced. I look I'll be following the print out in the book as closely as possible. What level are you on Saphrael?

Yay! I can't wait to hear what you think of it! I've been doing the DDP Yoga Dvds for awhile now. I really like the stand up workout. But Energy is one I always go back to too. They put Red Hot Core on each dvd. At first, I thought it was a cheap way to fill the dvd. But it's actually nice not to have to pop in a separate dvd. I wish they would've done the same with Wake Up. That's a nice 10 minute warm up.

Share what days and workouts you do so we can cheer each other on! I did Wake Up and Stand Up yesterday morning and Energy in the evening.

I still have not tried the Double Black Diamond. Maybe tonight!

HelloÖ I just ordered my dvd this morning. I'm excited to try this approach out. I am new to yoga, so the whole thing is exciting :)

Never mind waiting for the light at the end of the tunnel; stride down there and light the damn thing yourself.

Started DDP Yoga back in March been doing really well. I love the videos my fiancť and I do them together. I've been waging war on my scale between 309 and 305 for about six weeks now. Granted I do take into account that 3 of those weeks I hade done something to a tendon in my hand and couldn't yoga. Using spark I've been able to keep track of what I consume, and just recently started doing energy in the morning before work. I hope the morning routine will become a bit easier and I will be adding afternoon yoga as well.

The community for DDP Yoga is nothing but the best at supporting their fellow YRG members, so glad there is a forum on SP too.

Hey all! Finally doing the intro. Man, did I have a really crappy past week (most challenging since starting back in Sept.). It's now time for me to get serious. It's time for me to kick some butt actually! I dusted off my dvd set, and I'm ready to commit to DDP. Today's day 1!! I did the D-Dozen, and Energy. It took awhile to complete, but I barely broke a sweat, so I did 35+ on the elliptical later on in the day. Quick question for the pro's here. Can I do it everyday? I'd love to incorporate it into my daily exercise routines. emoticon

Any and ALL help is greatly appreciated! emoticon

Hey there everyone. I've been back and forth on this site for a few years now, but last Thanksgiving, I took a look at pictures of myself (at 272 lbs) and cringed. I rededicated myself to making positive changes. I started watching what I was eating, asked for (and received) a recumbent bike for Christmas, and as of this morning, I was at 230 lbs.
I have filled countless hours now on that bike, but I have really been searching for something to change things up and push me to another gear. DDP Yoga seems to be that thing. It's my birthday gift to myself, and when I got it last week, I was chomping at the bit to get started. My wife and I are doing it as side by side as we can (our workout/computer room is just a bit narrow), but we've hit the ground running, and don't plan to look back.
The inspiring videos of some of the members, the infectiously positive attitude DDP has, it all makes me believe. And if you believe...anything can happen!

I started this chapter in my weight loss journey on March 3rd, 2014. I picked up a copy of "Yoga for the Regular Guy" by DDP and Yoga Doc. On March 10th, I started the the DDP Yoga program at 290.4 lbs. On my 30th day in the program I was 270 lbs. For the past 3 weeks I've felt like I've plateaued and need to find the solution to my problem. I've been teetering between 268-273 for the past 3 weeks and it's kind of disheartening. I'm eating better than I ever have, I'm more physical than I've ever been. My strength and flexibility have greatly improved. I've seen the side by side photo from Day 1 and Day 30, and while I can see the changes, my waist started at 57.5 inches, and has been stuck at 54" for the same amount of time as my weight loss plateau.

Logging my food seemed like a chore, or something that people who were cheating on their meal plans needed to do to keep track of how far out of line they were with that last order of fries, but I'm starting to rethink that train of thought. Tracking my intake is the only way I'm going to master my lifestyle change once in for all.

I'm Derek, and I'm 35 years old. I enjoy Comic Books, DDP Yoga, Star Wars, WWE and fantasy novels. I have a 5 year old son and we like to collect lego minifigures together. He's what motivated me to make the change again. I knew about DDP Yoga from Jake the Snake Roberts and Scott Halls rehabilitation videos that have been posted on Youtube. A few weeks ago my 5 year old told me that he loved me so much, that when he grows up he wants to be big and fat just like me. I told him no, he needs to grow up, eating right, doing his exercises and being as big as he was meant to be by making the right decisions. That was my wake up call, I couldn't just tell him to do the right things, I have to show him how to do the right things. And lead by example I shall.

Hi! On a whim I thought I'd check to see if there was a DDP group on Spark People...happy to see there is!
I bought DDP in May 2012, shortly after the Arthur video went viral. I didn't dive right into it very seriously when I got it...my mother-in-law passed away and that really derailed any progress I might have made.
BUT
In January, I decided that there's no time like the present. At that time I started to religiously work out with DDP, and began to really own what I eat. I made the shift from whole grain eating to gluten free, ALMOST dairy free, and only lean meats
38 weeks later, I'm down 72 pounds...a quarter of my starting weight. I am just over half way to my goal. I did the Double Black Diamond for the first time this week (with the modification on jumping dog! Wow!)
I am loving DDP and the transformations that have been happening!

Hey there, I'm September and have been doing DDP Yoga for a week today. I've got a LOT to lose, and this is the last time. This is forever. I'm in love with DDP Yoga already and look forward to each workout! I've been a member of sparkpeople for a realy long time and the one part I always struggled with was exercise.

Hi everyone. I am new to the DDP yoga,but I am living. I have always been more of a Zumba girl or tae Bo, but I am trying to help my husband loss weight so when he started the program, I did too to be his accountability partner. We have only been doing it for a few weeks, but I can already feel the muscle changes in my arms and my flexibility has increased. I am really enjoying it. emoticon

Does anyone have any tips for lying flat on my back (the pinfall) with scoliosis? I'm really struggling, so any suggestions or modification ideas would be great! emoticon

I am on week 3 of DDP Yoga and just noticed spark had a team, so I just had to join. I am loving DDP Yoga. Only thing I am having trouble with is getting my heart rate to stay up. Of course usually my kids do it with me and they can be a little distracting. lol

Hi,

I'm relatively new to DDPYoga and LOVE IT. Got the combo pack for Valentine's Day from my sweet husband.

You do start to see changes within a few workouts. I was skeptical when I heard that. It's true. The first time I did Diamond Dozen I could barely do Diamond Cutter. Within two workouts I could stretch back considerably farther.

Thanks for the welcome! I too haven't been consistent with the workouts. I did good the real first week but was busy with finals and term papers so it went on the back burner. Monday though, I'm starting over and really hope to see some good results! I'm not to sure about going dairy and gluten free though. That might have to be a slow process for me. It's something to definitely work towards. I definitely would enjoy an accountability partner!! Welcome to the group. I joined about a week ago, and started then too DDPYoga but not with any consistency. We are very short staffed where I work and it's been a rough and exhausting week. When I get home all I want to do is veg which is why I'm in this shape in the first place! :P I'm planning on picking up the pace on the DDPYoga and follow the program as it is outlined. Maybe we can keep each other motivated. My family and I are trying to get off the gluten so we are in a learning curve right now.
I hope DDPYoga will help you strengthen your back and get the results you are looking for. I'm hopeful too! My son is getting Married next November so I have a dead line! :)

Hey all!
I see that this group hasn't really been that active in the last couple of months but I'm still joining due to the need of accountability and just building a routine. I injured my back at the beginning of 2012 and haven't really been doing what I need to do. I'm hoping that DDP Yoga will help heal my back and rid me of the excuses of sitting and doing nothing. I have gained 20 pounds this year and am actually higher than my starting weight by 2 pounds unfortunately. I refuse to let another year go by with out reaching my goals. It's time to turn things around and make a positive change starting today!!

Thank you Sparky! I love DDP yoga! Already, I noticed changes in my knees when I climb the stairs in my house. Also, when I normally go bowling, my thighs are sore after two or three games. Earlier this week, I bowled for three hours and my thighs never got sore. I tried the Stand Up and loved it. DDP yoga is a phenomenal workout. I am planning to try Red Hot Core and modify as needed.

Hello everybody! I am Angela and I am so excited about this program. I just got my dvds today, but I have already done the Diamond Dozen and Energy from the website. I have issues with my knees and was inspired to purchase after seeing Stacey Morris and Arthur Boorman achieve their goals. Nutrition has been a challenge for me ever since I started college 20 years ago. I haven't given up though, and I know I can reach my goals with the awesome support I have already received on Team DDP yoga.

Hi everyone! I'm new to DDP, got the DVD's a few days ago and did my first workout this morning! It was awesome! I'm just hoping I'll be able to keep my motivation for this program. Hey BETINA10! The best thing about the workout is that it's low impact and you can make it your own. Depending on how you feel, and how much you engage, it's possible to do this everyday. 30 minutes, 3x a week is a really good start and maintenance mode, in my humble opinion.

Thanks for having this group on here! Using my new self-employment status to make a ton of changes in my life, including rolling no more cigs (that was so easy to cut out this time!). Changes are easy to make when you're ready -- and impossible when you're not.

Started logging all my food intake, eathing only good-for-you stuff (no processed junk), and tracking my daily "fitness bursts" (didn't want to overdue it, then get turned off by pain or "not having enough time"). Ah, and then I saw Arthur Boorman's video on YouTube... whoa! Then I looked up DDP and found out more and more and knew it was the right time.

Haven't bought the DVDs, but got the book from the library.

Question... one of your challenges here is to work out daily. But I thought in the book he recommended working out 3x/wk. What schedule do you follow, Eric?

I just got my DVD's in the mail on Friday. I'm excited to get started and I'm hoping to lose enough weight to pass my CBP physical fitness exam. I just took the test and I haven't found out if I passed but either way, I still need to lose the weight. I don't know how well I can commit to Phase 3 plan but I will do my best. I just want my knees and ankles to stop hurting. I'm planning on losing 75 - 100 lbs putting me around 200 - 175lbs. Tonight I am starting when I get home.

YRG stood for Yoga for Regular Guys (or Gals). But DDP said everyone kept asking him about his yoga and no one was calling it YRG. So he changed the name to DDPYOGA (all one word). :) And from a branding perspective, it did make more sense to change the name.

johnny, thanks for your response.....i did go and feed the rest of the homemade bread to the chickens, who were quite appreciative.....the thought of gluten does not seem to bother them... ..i was looking up gluten on google....dang! it's in everything.....even vegetarian imitation meats! ah well, most of that stuff tastes like crap anyway.....lol........i can do the vegan "butter", but i do not like imitation milk....*shudder*.....oh well, i figure the lack of gluten and dairy is all part of the experience......i've gotta get the mental set that i need to do this!..sigh.....i still want to look up that woman you mentioned, just haven't been able to get to it yet today......lol

Hey there! DDPY is worth it. It will be less impact on your knees than anything else. There's no jarring moves, so hopefully you will enjoy it.

I have spent up to 5 days a week twice a day to 3 times a week once a day. It depends on where I am at with my weight, body, and mind. It really works for whatever your ability or schedule. There's anything from 30 minute workouts to 1 hour workouts.

It is not going to kill you with hunger, but it is going to challenge you with making sure you eat clean. The choices are yours to make though. Anyone wanting to get in shape has to make sure that the cals burned are greater than cals in.

If you have questions, please let me know. Also, stop by teamddpyoga.com . There are a lot of people there too. One of my buddies has knee issues. He just had one repaired surgically and he's really doing great with the program (Doug Steffen). Take a look and let us know!

Yeah giving up Coke is also what you should do. Not just because its a part of DDPYOGA but its not good for you lol. Yeah giving up dairy and gluten is another part of good health. For me it was giving up milk and cheese. So I switched from normal milk to almond milk but I haven't given up cheese. But I don't eat a lot of cheese, its just the cheese slices that I eat. For me its giving up fast food and Im doing ok with that for this month. But for gluten, its changing a lot. So breads, pasta etc all have gluten and I only eat bread and pasta. So I haven't given up that but I have cut gluten down a little bit.

thank you johnny....i have seen the Boorman video on fb, which is what made me look him via google, which led me to DDPYOGA.....i will look up the other person you mentioned......dairy and gluten? maybe i can give those up, but do i have to give up coco-cola? :) i am having my caffeine-free herbal tea, NO milk, this morning lol...

DDPYOGA works for everyone! The key is to modify the moves and DDP shows you how to modify them. Bottom line, as long as you keep doing it, it will work. I lack motivation so I start and stop DDPYOGA a lot. But when I do it regularly, I walk taller, don't ache as much etc. And you notice you feel better within the first week. And you notice you improve every time you do it. I start out doing only two moves (broken table and plank). But then I added moves into my routine and eventually I could get up to 25mins. But then I don't do it for awhile and Im only able to go 10mins. But DDP even says, make it your own. You don't HAVE to do everything he says. You do a little bit more every time you workout. As for the diet, DDP stresses to go dairy and gluten free (if you are able to). But the main part is to get rid of the crap in your diet; thats the first step. But being vegetarian will work on this program. I am not gluten and dairy free but I do want to be one day. But most ppl on the program go at their own pace. They work on giving up dairy and then when they are successful, they try to give up gluten. Got to www.teamddpyoga.com and join the community; its free and ppl love to chat and answer your questions. Its a very inspiring community. If you go gluten and dairy free, the weight just drops off you like mad. There are many different dvd's to use if you buy the program. If you have sore knees, there are moves you can do from your back and just by standing up. Its a zero impact fitness routine as well. But if you can't do some of the moves, just modify them, use a chair to help balance or don't do that move. Downdog is hard move for me so I modify it or sometimes I don't do it at all. She has a blog and also has a very inspirational story.

i just heard about DDP yoga...about an hour ago, actually.....i would like some more info about it from people who are doing it...my only health problem is arthitis in my knees....if i am enjoying music on the radio and dance for a couple of songs my knees hurt for about 5 days.....oh, well, yes...i am a bit pudgey...and looking towards 60 yrs old in a couple more years...but the knees.........can i still do this? how much time per day do y'all generally spend doing this? the food regime..is it gonna kill you with hunger? can vegetarian use it? i don't know what else to ask you, but would appreciate any insight you are willing to provide.

Yo Yo Yo. Johnny here. Doing YRG and have dropped 26lbs and going to drop a lot more! Started out at 454lbs. Gonna kick it into high gear. Glad to find the group!

Howdy! I'm a Soldier and first tried YRG with DDP in Kirkuk, Iraq. I have struggled with the ups and downs (literally) of my health, weight, and stress over the years since. I have noticed that the time I was able to get with YRG and stay with it... I was way better off. Now I am 39, need to lose about 25 or more pounds and am rebooting... the past is the past... time for me to leave it there and move on towards a positive future.

I'm now stuck back in TRADOC learning a new job due to my knee injuries... the plan is to do the Red Hot Core every weekday at lunch time and to get in one of the other workouts everyday in the afternoon/evening. There are enough variations in length and intensity that I should be able to do this. Oh... and I still have to do PT in the morning... right now it has been walking about 1.5 miles or so. (Not my choice, but I have to do what they say for PT... lol).
