I'm Sheila, a 40-something wife and mother living in Virginia. Years ago I worked in public health, before embarking on the homeschooling adventure with my children (one now in college and one to go).

I've always been the nurturing type, but for some insane reason, I've always put taking care of myself on the back burner. I've also been a yo-yo dieter. Lose, gain, guilt, lose, gain, guilt...
I am just now realizing that something about my thinking needs to change. Thoughts about my relationship with food, my self image, my goals, etc.

It hasn't been as simple as burn more calories than I take in. I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, and I am sure since I am in my forties, hormone issues are coming more into play as well.
I need to find what works for me, and be OK with that. I know personally that I have to eat on the lower end of the carb spectrum, and I tend to lean toward the Paleo way of eating.

I began reading Made To Crave (and the devotional too) about two weeks ago, and after just a few chapters, I realized how I had been leaving my faith in God out of my weight-loss endeavors. Why oh why had I been thinking that I have to do this own my own when God promises me He is "an ever-present help?"

I also need to have some accountability as the book mentions, so I thought I'd join you ladies. :)

Hello! I'm Randi, 38 year old military wife and stay-at-home mom to six kiddos ranging in age from 16 down to 5. :) I read "Made to Crave" three years ago, but I guess I wasn't truly ready to apply it to my life.

I am now, however! :)

Aside from wife-ing and mom-ing, I'm a writer, graphic design artist, and I'm taking piano lessons. I homeschool my oldest two (high school aged) monkeys, and I currently teach 3 and 4 year olds at church.

As I'm getting older, I can no longer deny that I need to take better care of my body to keep up with my wonderful, crazy life. I used to be fit until my last difficult pregnancy and I haven't recovered! I've come to rely on foot for comfort rather than God, and I'd like to get my priorities straight again.

Pleasure to meet you all!

I'm Carmen, a 40-something mother to a toddler, and wife of 18 years. I've been a Christian all my life and a member of SP since 1999, but not always active (as the scale has indicated). I started reading M2C earlier this year along with the Proverbs31 website, but life got busy and I never finished. Now I'm reading along with a small group of ladies in a Facebook accountability group we set up (not just for M2C). Trying to put these ideas into action...

Hey everybody! I'm Laura and new to the team. I just finished reading the book and it's made a big difference in my perspective this time.

I'm in my 40's, married to an incredible man, and mom to 3 awesome kidlets. I have gained about 50 or so pounds in the past 3-1/2 years. Because of some stress and life changes, I stopped disciplining myself. I stopped exercising consistently and started to be less mindful of how I ate--and the pounds crept on.

I've tried getting it together before, but this is the first time in a long time when I feel like I can do it. And I know the key is that I don't have to do it--I can let God do it for me if I just listen to the nudges He gives me and ask for strength.

I'm not sure how active this group is, but I'd love to hear from other people--to give and receive encouragement!

Hi All! I'm excited to find a team for this book- I'm loving it so far! I found it this week as I've been looking hard for a book that will help me feel better about myself and help me approach weight loss from a healthy mind-set, a loving mind-set. I've tried losing weight before just to look good, and I've failed every time. This time I know I need to let Heavenly Father help me with it, so I was thrilled to find a book from a Christian perspective.

My username is because I'm not totally able to focus on losing weight yet- I had a baby just over 5 weeks ago, and am still in recovery from my c-section and am breastfeeding. I hop between this site and BabyFit, but like SP so much better.

Looking forward to getting to know you!

Good morning, ladies! My name is Anni, and I am 49 years old. Married for 20 years, 3 babies in Heaven, two sweet princesses here, ages 10 and 13. I'm an adjunct instructor and special needs tutor at a local community college, while we homeschool the princesses.

I just finished reading M2C, and WOW! Talk about an attitude adjustment! I've never read a book where it felt like someone was printing out the conversations in my head. Every time I started to have a conversation with Lysa in my head about some point she was making, she'd address it in the next paragraph. Kinda scary, but also really comforting to know she understands! I'm now reading M2C for teens, because I have a fairly new 13 year old, and I need help understanding how to help her!

I joined SP a few years ago and lost 30 pounds by walking 2 hours every day. Then my schedule changed, and I couldn't keep that up. So I gave up even trying (foolish, I know). In the 3-4 years since then, I've gained back the 30, plus a few more. So defeating! However, at my recent check up, my blood pressure is up, and I decided to join my doctor's obesity clinic. I will meet every two weeks with a nutritionist, who will monitor my BP, weight, fat %, and food/exercise diaries. The accountability will be good! I have reactivated my SP account to do all the tracking, and I've joined this team! I look forward to getting to know you fine folks!

Hi I am Laura I just finished the Made to Crave series. I started spark people a week or so ago. I now am reading through the daily devotional and the book again. Spark people is just what I needed a place to land so to speak with resources to track my food. And alot more I am coming to find out.
Now a little about me I have had a life time battle with weight. My first trip to WW's was at ten not sure if I was overweight or not she needed someone to go with her. I have lost and gain weight so many times. Made to Crave was an answer to prayer. Hearing God loves me no matter what size. I am valued and god created me just as I am. This is a outward sign of an internal issue a heart issue. A spiritual issue ! So I have headed north out of desert and I am not looking back. I hope this will be a strong community where we can support one another. I am here for all of you. God Bless

Greetings,

My name is April. I live in New Hampshire. I've been married 10 years to my husband Matt. No children, but we have a furbaby named Bagira. He is an 11 yr old cat, that still acts like he's a kitten.

I heard of the Proverbs 31 M2C Action plan and signed up. It's been very encouraging. I went and purchase the book Made to Crave and will start that when the action plan study is over next week. Looking forward to keep moving and going North. :)

Hi Everyone,
My name is Kathy and I am married with 3 children and 3 grandchildren. I started a MTC group at my church last year but it fizzled out and so we postponed indefinitely. I have fibromyalgia and stress is an obstacle for me. I am a teacher in Arizona who teaches sixth grade math. I am working toward getting some health and strength. I am at my highest weight ever but I really believe with support I can make changes by using the MTC changes. May God bless our efforts and give us strength!

I joined the M2C online bible study but wasn't ready for it emotionally. And then I felt really lost in the crowd because there were SO many on there! I feel more ready now, and am so glad to find this team. I fight depression, and with that of course the weight I manage to lose comes back. I am really trying to learn to turn to God first, last, always! I know He never leaves me and never fails me; it's up to me to recognize that.

Anyway I hope to see some activity on here and will do my best to check in often! emoticon

Hi, I'm Maureen. I've been off and on sparkpeople for a couple of years but have been active lately since early December and doing well. I teach the ladies Sunday school at my church and we are going to start Made to Crave next week. I have read part of the book but never finished. I am looking forward to this study. I'm glad to see this group is on here.

Hi, I have been a spark person for a lot of years off and on. I have a hard time tracking my food and exercise. I either forget or spend hours getting it exactly right. I joined the M2C online Bible study in Jan and have really seen a change in my cravings. I am by no means "there" but I am heading north.

Hi, Rebecca, Rita, Kate and Laurie.....I'm Rachel, I joined this team when the Made to Crave on line study began in Jan 19th. I was so excited to find this team but when I joined, there was no activity. emoticon I then left the team but I see you ladies are being active, I want to join in! I need my sisters and I could use some encouragement. Where is everyone in the book? Do we start afresh? Let me know. ~ Hugs, Rachel

Hello. My name is Kate. I am married, mother of 3. I have been a sparker since 2012. I have been struggling with my weight my whole life. I clicked on the made to crave link on a fellow sparker's blog. I ordered the book, but it didn't get here in time to do the January online bilble study. SO I am doing it on my own.

Hello everyone. My name is Rebecca. The 6 stands for the 6 children I have (4 I had and 2 bonus). Ages range from almost 20 to 5. I teach 8th grade math. I am very busy and have not been taking care of myself. I started MTC a year or so ago but let things get in the way so I never finished. I joined the online study and started again. Things feel different this time so I am praying this is my victory. I am looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hi, I'm Beth from Wentzville, Missouri. I'm a 51 year old mom of 2 wonderful MEN-ages 20 and 23. I've been overweight my entire life--but this is the year for my transformation. I'm understanding that God has allowed this weight to bring me into closer fellowship with Him. Now--instead of mindlessly eating--I turn to Him to help with any cravings. I'm so thrilled for this transformation and journey. I learned about M2C from my home church--Element Church. This was listed as a small group--but there was no leader. I am taking the OBS and want to be a success story and then lead the group at church. All prayer is welcome as well as all new friends!

Hello everyone! My name is Sally, the 84 is the year I was born, not my age. emoticon I have been on and off a weight-loss journey for a few years, but got serious June of this year. I am single, no children, though I do have 4 furbabies; 1 cat, 1 dog, and 2 ferrets. I've gone to church all my life, but I just committed my life to God 3 years ago. emoticon I heard of "Made to Crave" on someone's blog and as I work at a library, I have checked it out and plan on reading it tonight. From what I can tell it looks like just what I am looking for.

Hello everyone. I have been a member of Spark People since 2007, since then I have had my 2nd child and have had a real struggle with getting the weight off. I've read M2C and I think I need to pick it back up again. I am really struggling with craving sugar/carbs and eating late in the evenings. I also am a homeschooling mother of a 3rd grader and also have an almost 4 year old (who is VERY busy!!) and struggle with getting workouts scheduled into my day. I know that just joining this is a start, and the Lord is always good and doesn't bring condemnation. But I want to treat my body the way He wants me to, and I want to find my WANT TO!!!! That's a biggie for me. Looking forward to getting to know everyone and looking forward to encouraging others and being encouraged.
Blessings,
Cindy

I love hearing about all the studies being done. I'm going to be leading one starting beginning of July and I'm so encouraged by how many have signed up already and we just announced it this week. A friends boyfriend is even taking part, focusing on not smoking. He's a new Christian and really wants to quit. The book really applies to anyone who struggles with craving anything more than they crave God.

Have a great weekend everyone!

I am so excited to find this group! I have just finished the book (for the second time) and lead a study on it for 6 weeks with a few friends of mine. I am going to miss our weekly meetings so much even though we plan to give weekly updates through email. This book has helped me so much. I have learned to stop going to food and to start going to God to fill all of my voids. I look forward to meeting you all!

Hello everyone! A friend told me about the book Made to Crave and how it really helped her. I put the book on my summer reading list but hadn't gotten around to checking the library for it. This week I got an e-mail from my church and found out they were starting a woman's series on Made to Crave. I talked with my husband and signed up for the class. The series starts Monday and I have began to read the book. In chapter one right now and going to do the personal reflections today. :)

My friend is also a member of this team and is how I knew about you all. I am looking forward to exploring the team and getting to know all of you.

Hi Everyone. I just found this group and am looking forward to getting to know all of you. So nice to know you ladies who live in or near SF, too. I grew up near there but have lived in Kansas now for years. I am just finishing up Made to Crave with a friend of mine. What a great book full of great truths to grab hold of and use to God's glory. We are planning on going through it again with 2 or 3 more friends who are interested. I am excited about this team!

Hi all, I'm new to this group. Just started reading the book and I'm LOVING it! I can't believe how meaty it is. I've offered to lead a book study of this book at our church this summer. I've lead life groups and book studies before but it's been a while.

I'll be reading this book every day while I'm on the bike. I think I need to re-read Chapter 1, there's just so much there!

Hi everyone - I live near SF also!!
My name is Teressa. I'm 44, married for 24 years to my high school sweetheart. We have two boys, 20 and 17. I have been with Sparkpeople for the past 3 years, but it really only clicked with me last year when i started reading "A Course in Weight Loss". It is a pretty new-agey book, but the point I got from it is that if we are God's children whom He loves, then why would we hurt ourselves (one of God's creations) by eating food that is not good for us? Since then the weight has come off easier, although I am still definitely a work in progress. Currently participating in the Made to Crave online study through Melissa Taylor and Proverbs 31.

Deborah, I too, live near San Francisco! Annie - I've always wanted to travel to Europe and hope one day to make it a reality.

I'm 41 years old, married to a non-believer and we have a 4.5 year old son who is a true joy and blessing! I had first learned of M2C last December through www.proverbs31.org and was also signed up for the online study with Melissa Taylor. I did most of it before I allowed life to get in my way. I'm back to really focus on it this time and I have found reading the book a second time around at the place where I am in my life right now is very different in a good way. I've borrowed the DVD from a friend and have the participant's guide, too. And I also purchased the Action Plan book/DVD combo and the devotional.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone and grow in my relationship with Jesus!

Thanks for the intro and the opportunity to get to know some more people better. I'm Annie, purposeful since reading a Joyce Meyer book called "I dare You - Embrace Life with a Passion" which has helped my motivation no end. I'm married, no children or pets, and have been a Christian for over 16 years. I am 48, have lost 45 pounds and am working on the next 55 or so. I've never been greatly into sport or keep fit, but enjoy a walk each day, and have just started doing callanetics by dvd at home. I have always loved the idea of being able to dance, and I'm going to my first lesson next week. I think I can track that as an exercise too! I agree, Made to Crave is the business! Oh, by the way, I live in England!

Let's get to know each other!

I'm dsw310 - and the 'd' stands for Deborah. The 310 is how much I weighed when I first joined SP back in September last year.

I live in California, near San Francisco. I am 38 years old. I have been married 13 years and have two daughters ages 9 & 5. I play the flute. I love Zumba.

I've been a Christian since I was 5 years old and currently attend a Vineyard church.

I think Made to Crave is an amazing book, unlike any other "weight loss" book I've picked up - and I've picked up hundreds. God is using this book to change my life, and I'm so glad.
