I have posted before to introduce myslef but I wabted to post again. I have been feeling lately like out of all the new friends I made on SP when I first started so many have fallen away or quit. I have stayed strong and kept at it despite many hardships. I was just wondering if anyone else has felt isolated or frustrated for the same reasons? I have had such an incredible journey and I have lost 30lbs. And I have very few people to share it with.

Hi everyone, I'm here to reintroduce myself. My name is Blane and I'm a grad student in mathematics. I was doing pretty good on sparkpeople over the summer but when I started my first semester in the fall, it really thew me for a loop. But I slowly got used to the added workload and I'm ready to start trying to squeeze in some exercise.

Thanks for the welcome Dana. What training are you doing for your 1/2 marathon? I'm using the Jeff Galloway walk/run system. I'm not doing much running, 30 seconds for every 1 1/2 minutes of walking, but I'm working up to it.

Welcome to all the newcomers! Hi Jocy! Welcome to the boards. Congrats on a job well done so far. You are doing the right thing and are at the right place for lots of support. We have a lot in common. I'm 50, empty nester and I have a son-in-law in the Army. My daughter and son-in-law are stationed in upstate NY, a long way from Texas! I too am trying to run. I've found running is the only way I can burn serious calories. I have a goal to run a half marathon by first of Dec. I've done it before but it has been a couple of years and about 30 lbs ago. I have a long way to go so we'll see how I do. Good luck on your Spark journey!!

Hi All,

I'm Jocy. I joined SP on July 16th. I'm more of a lurker than a poster but decided I needed to at least introduce myself. I'm 55 years old, twice divorced, and a relatively new empty nester. My only child joined the Army and has been gone since the beginning of February.

I have been pudgy my whole life. In 1999 I stopped smoking and by 2000 had been diagnosed with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma, and gained 20 pounds. Now I was in the obese category! I joined Weight Watchers and managed to lose 25 pounds in a year. I couldn't afford the dues anymore and figured I could go it alone. I managed to maintain the weight loss but didn't lose much more. After breaking my ankle last December I gained back 10 pounds. Being chair bound and boredom eating will do that to you. I didn't do any exercise from December until I started walk/running in July. I know that I won't lose weight by diet alone and now I try to walk/run at least every other day.

I have 2 goals for this year. The first is to run the 5k in the Run the Gap Marathon on Sept. 3rd in Pocatello, ID. The 2nd is to fit into the size 12's that are in the back of my closet by December 6th. That's when I'm going to Hawaii and visit my soldier daughter. I want to look good when we go to the beach, not like a beached whale.

An it harm none do what ye will.

I started in July but kept forgetting to come here. I am doing well...had some slip ups the first few weeks but still the scale is moving down so all in all not bad.

I have quite a lot to lose so this will be a long journey for me. I've started and stopped so many times it isn't even funny. I've basically been working on the "diet" part of losing weight. Trying to make better choices, smaller portions that is always the hardest for me. This next week I will start an exercise program. I really have no excuse for not exercising...I have two dogs who love to walk and our city has a wonderful trail system...a few in fact...where the dogs would love to go see...I also made my garage into a gym with several pieces of cardio equipment, weights, and work out video area. It is insulated but has no air..I just leave the door to the house open for a little bit and use fans...we did put in a heater for the winter though...so see..no excuse for not exercising :D

Hope you are all doing well in your journey's! OH btw..I've lost 7 lbs since joining. :D

Hi I am Shoshana Taube. I have 40lb's left to lose. It has taken me a few years to lose just a little weight but recently I found a new thing so I thought I would sahre.
I Joined this thing called the 90 Day Challenge and I was really self-concious about telling people about it but today is Day 25 and I weighed myself today and I have so far lost 14 lbs. and I bought a pair of skinny jeans. so now that I actually see that it works I wanted to Share it with my friends on Spark People. Just to explain what it is briefly it is a powder that you use for the base of a smoothie and it is not this crazy eat not food, tasted like chalk kind of thing. Actually the stuff smells like cake mix and it taste like a milkshake and fills you up! If any one wants to join the challenge the website is www.taube.myvi.net and you can message me if you have any questions.
Keep up the good work everyone!

Currently a college student. I lost about twenty pounds in high school, which is great. Looking to lose ten or so more and get toned. I also suffered an injury last year, and waiting for it to heal turned a lot of muscle into flab. Hoping to get back into shape slowly and without re-injury!

I thought I should post and connect and whatnot, might keep me more in the game.

Hello All. I have been slowly getting to posting and I wanted to say HI. I am a 28 year old working mom of a 8.5 month old daughter and a 7 year old beagle. My beagle helps me to wake up every morning and get a walk in. I live in Lawrence Kansas and work for the University of Kansas. Several years ago I got into great shape by participating in a 100 mile bike ride with Team in Training, but since then I have gotten married and had a baby and have gained weight and forgot about exercising.I am looking foward to being part of this team.

Hello, everyone. I'm nearing 60, my son moved out in January, and I've been gearing myself up to get serious about weight loss. I have done Weight Watchers and kept off the 20 pounds I lost with it, but I have 50 to go, and want to lose them in the next year. I ran across The Spark by accident on the Internet, and am almost done reading the book. What a great program! I'm trying to blog every day and make connections with others. I live in Arkansas by the way but am originally from the Midwest.

I am tired of being overweight! I don't want to hide when the camera comes out at family functions! I am ready to be the best that I can be, even if that means I have to put a lot of work into getting to where I want to be. I am worth it!

Hey all. I go by Lizard. I'm a 21 year old college senior. I've been struggling with weight, food, and self-esteem issues for awhile. I'm usually very shy and don't participate on message boards but I am determined to make my experience on Spark totally different from every other community I've been apart of :) I am so happy I found this place, I wish I had found it much, much earlier. There are so many awesome tools that have already helped me get myself organized and on track! I have a crazy kind of lifestyle and hope to use this site to improve my health, lose weight, and look great. It's such a big help to have an awesome group of people to be motivated by as well, hopefully I can learn how to not lurk and get to know some people!

Hi!

I'm Mel, 29, single, English teacher with the summer off in a big foreign city. Loooots of bars and restaurants to get me off track, which over my last year here contributed to me reaching my highest weight ever and my first foray into the "overweight" BMI section. Combine that with my college roommate coming to visit me a few weeks ago and looking at the photos of the two of us (I cannot beLIEVE we used to share clothes, oh my dear lord....) and I am READY to take this thing on.

Also, I"m in Asia and the women here are mini mini miniature even though I see them eating noodles and white rice and oily sauces all the time! It's a good exercise in "Do this for yourself, don't compare yourself to others, Focus Focus Focus!" I'm doing my best, but WHEW-EE do I need some online support from people shaped more like me.

I get stared at like maaaad at the gym, but I just tell myself, "It's better than having this many people watch you eat a Big Mac" (which was not unknown to happen round here either).

So nice to meet you all, feel free to be my Sparkfriend (I'm currently rocking zero)!

Hi All,
I'm Sara, I'm 30 years old, I have been tracking my weight/calorie intake for quite a while, but decided to use Spark People now as a tool/guide to help keep me on track, rather than manually writing in a journal. It seems like it's a great resource and way to keep things going and stay motivated. I need to lose 25 lbs. to reach my goal weight, so I can't weight to get going.

Good morning! I am 28, college student and repeat-Sparker. I'm going to try really REALLY hard to stay on track this time...this is starting to feel like one of those meetings...anywhooo.

I've always been overweight. I went through a lot of changes last year and lost 40 lbs, which I personally think was from the sudden relief of constant stress in my life. So now it's time to see what I can do when I really set my mind to it.

Looking forward to getting to know some of you better and helping each other stay motivated. Drop by anytime!

Hi, I am a 27 year old stay at home mom.I have been married for 8 years. I homeschool my 7 year old daughter. My daughter and I are pagans. I have many chronic illnesses, and have been gaining weight due to large amounts of prednisone combined with other medicines. I have to lose the weight, and keep it off, in order to keep my newly diagnosed liver disease from progressing to cirrhosis. I have very limited mobility due to using a walker, so exercise is hard for me to do. I'm following the Carb Lovers Diet. Today was my first day to try it, and I loved it. I wasn't expecting much from it, but it wasn't that bad. I've finally kicked my soda habit so now I'm hoping I can lose this weight, and live a little longer for my family.
Blessed be,
Leywren

Hello everyone. Day #4 for me and I'm just beginning to post. I stumbled across SP from a google search. Guess I've been under a rock because I've NEVER heard of it. I have done the yoyo diet thing and have gotten back to the point that I cannot currently wear my clothes. I refuse to buy bigger clothes. Leading a healthy lifestyle is the answer and I've found the right place. I'm a 50 year old mom of two grown children and live in Texas. I have been a runner off and on. Lately more off than on therefore the weight gain. My goal is to track my daily food, increase my exercise and intensity and start feeling healthy. Looking forward to starting this journey with each and everyone of you. emoticon

I'm Lori, and I'm 21. I lost nearly 15 pounds the last time I used Sparkpeople, but I gained it all back plus more when I started taking my bipolar medication. I don't take it anymore, thank God, but I still need to get that weight back off!

Hey everyone,
Thanks to those who have added and/or accepted me as their SP Friend! I'm so SO motivated by your thoughts, stories and the accountability that we're all sharing, you guys! THANK YOU!

I introduced myself earlier, but wanted to offer an invite to everyone to visit my Blog, which I plan on actively maintaining. Read about me and you will see that I have been down this road before, losing 30lbs in 3mths (180lbs to 150lbs) and I'm about to do it again, as I gained those 30lbs back (over 4 yrs). Yeah, just call me Kirstie Alley...

Anyways, you'll also read on my page about how I am an excellent coach and motivator, so if you are looking for some THIN-spiration please subscribe to my blog and come on by for a chat! To those of you who've left messages, I am so happy to have you on my team! I'd love to help see that every one of us crosses that finish line.

See ya soon,
K.

Hello everyone! I am a 33 year old single mom. I am finally ready to get serious about getting in shape and getting healthy. But I know I will need tons of help and encouragement so I joined SP! I *love* food so one of my biggest challenges will be portion control. I have never been into exercising so that will be a challenge too. I have recently started using Gold's Gym: Dance Workout on the Wii and Just Dance 2 and I am enjoying both of those as they don't seem much like exercise but I am getting up and moving! I am looking forward to this journey...

Hi My name is Charlene and I am 23 years old. I already lost 9kgs with sp but I gained 2 back in the last month! Therefore I started a new profile and a new slate. I am really finding it hard to exercise right now as it is over 36C in Malta where I live! It is so hot that I barely manage 10 min workout. Tomorrow I will try to wake up in the morning and walk. I really wish to have a buddy to talk to and encourage each other. So if you are interested welcome aboard! :)

Hi Sparkpeople!! My name is Daryl and I'm from Northern Virginia. I will be celebrating my 1 year wedding anniversary this Saturday (July 16) to my amazing and supportive husband. I want to get healthy for me, I want to get healthy for him, and I want to get healthy for our future children. I love to play softball and play with my dogs in my free time. I work a lot so I also like to spend time with my husband watching tv and relaxing over a healthy meal (well, now I do!). I came to Sparkpeople because it was something I was introduced to MANY years ago and I loved it, but I fell out of touch. So, I'm back with a new username, new goals, and a fresh outlook on getting healthy. I'm determined. Let's do it!!

Hi Everyone,
My name is Sandra and I just turned 38 last friday. It was day that hit me that once again I didn't do anything about my weight. I joined a gym this past winter and even though my clothes fit better the numbers on the scale have yet to move. So my friend told me about sparkpeople and she was really excited about how well it's worked for her and she know's i've about tried everything out there. I'm looking forward to my transformation and making new friends here. The extra special reason too is that my family is going on a mexican cruise this winter and I want to look and feel good and pictures say a 1000 words. Cheers!

Embrace the journey and laugh along the way.

Hi Everyone!!! It's a chilly day here in Brisbane, Australia and I am back on spark for the first time in many many months!!! I am looking forward to getting to know you all on your journey and getting support from you as well as I start mine.

I first started on spark in January 2010 and had great success but alas, did not reach my ultimate goal (only a few kilos off) and I lost my mojo and got complacent. I came back at the end of last year for a time but I just didn't stick with things. I have a bunch of annoying health issues which get in the way but I am determined to focus and achieve my goals this time! I've just written a new blog entry giving the run down if you want to have a read :)

I braved the scales this morning and was shocked and not shocked at the same time. :) My body has been telling me in so many different ways that it has not been happy with its expanding size and finally, my brain has caught up!!

So here I am DAY ONE. Just about to go out for a baby shower morning tea for my sister in law.... the first test!! hehe.

let's keep in touch!

Annie :)

Hey you guys,
I am an excellent, devoted motivator and weight loss partner. I've helped everyone ELSE achieve their goals, but am really looking for someone who will reciprocate by also keeping track of me. If I know you will be asking, I will be doing!
My success story: In the past, I went from 180 (jeans size 32) to 150 (jeans size 29) in just 3mths on my own hard work in eating super clean and exercise.
Well, when I recently hit 180 again I felt like I needed to ask for some help this time around. I moved across the country two years ago and haven't been able to create a new support system, so here I am!
Here's the big but (other than my own butt, of course!): please read my bio and quickly see that I have skeletons in my closet which I am ready to get rid of. I'm sure some of you do, as well. I'm ready to get honest with everyone and especially myself.
About me: I am a woman in Oregon, turning 33 in August and want to reach 150 by the last day of September, 2011. I'm intense and extreme and ready to get serious.
Let's get real. And really skinny. emoticon emoticon

My name is Sara. I just had a baby back in April and I am ready to get back on the "get in shape" wagon. I lost 25 lbs before I had my baby and I still need to lose about another 40 to be at a good weight. I am hoping by being here and having support, that I can finally lose this weight once and for all!

Hey all. I'm a 31 year old mother of two, 'big boned' as they say. :) I hate tracking what I eat, so I really need some support in that regard. In the past year I've taken up running and lost around 15 pounds, but I still have at least 10-15 to go before I'm down to what I'd consider my ideal 'healthy' weight. I even ran a stinking marathon in April and I'm still struggling with weight - it's food for me, not exercise. I work from home as an online college instructor and child-wrangler. I'm hoping to find lots of good recipes here as well as a supportive community!

Hi My name is Jacqueline, but I go by Jac. I just found this site and I am so excited to finally meet some people who are going through what I am!!

A little about me, I just turned 28 and I am trying to loose weight for my wedding next May! It is a destination wedding in the Dominican Republic! 40 of my friends and family are joining us so far and I am determined to be able to wear a bikini in public by then.

I have always had a bit of a belly but was considered petite but in the last 4 years, after starting college, a new BC and quitting smoking, I have put on about 45 extra pounds. To be in a healthy weight range for my height I need to loose about 60lbs. My friends are split into 2 groups, videogamers who eat junk food and sit around all day and marathon runners. I have little to no support from either of them. The 'gamers' its obvious why and the marathon runners make light of the hard work because it had been so long or they have never had to struggle.

I really need to get some support from people who are working hard to get back on track like me. I am easily discouraged and I am in the worst shape of my life. My first workout yesterday was...horrible. But I am determined to follow through on my goals this time though!

Nice to meet all of you!

-Jac

PS. can anyone tell me how I can add a sig and one of those goal trackers to my posts?

"
I thank God for this most
amazing day;
for the leaping greenly
spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky;
and for everything
which is natural, which is
infinite, which is yes".

Hello all,

I am a yo-yo dieter who has struggled with weight my entire life. I was most successful about 5 years ago loosing 80 lbs with Atkins. Unfortunately, I now have gall stones which I attribute to my years of low carb. I did weight watchers 2 years ago but plateaued pretty early.

I am good at tracking but very inconsistent with exercise. My change for this first two weeks is 10 minutes minimum of exercise per day.

I am a teacher, but live in Asia with my husband and three kids.

Hi Guys,

I successfully lost 55 pounds a few years ago, not through crash diets just through hard work. Since then bad habits have crept back and over the past two years I've gained the weight back. A few weeks ago my car broke down so I have to bike everywhere, and I'm hoping that this necessary activity will help me restart my healthy lifestyle and follow through.

Let's Go!

Hello everyone! I am 25 years old. I just got married in June, and with all the stress of planning the wedding I turned to eating. Now its time to focus on myself and lose the weight I have put on! This is my first time on Spark, and Im excited to be going through this process with other people. Its so difficult trying to do it all by yourself.

p.s.- how did everyone get the cute little trackers underneath their names?

Hello to Everyone!
I am a 47 year old wife of 29 years and mother to 2 children ages 23 and almost 20.I am a school librarian/teacher of 24 years. I want to lose about 50lbs. I have gained and lost weight all of my life, but being over 200 (5'7"tall) for the last 3 yrs has taken its toll on me physically and mentally. I have finally recognized that I have food issues - emotional eating, compulsive eating, and binge eating. Trying to deal with those and lose weight. I am an exerciser but do that on and off again sporadically just like the eating. I'm trying to overcome that all or none. I am a Christiam with a Catholic background, but am very open to just being Christian. I believe that God has something great in store for me if I can just get a grip on self-sabatoge. Looking forward to the journey here on Spark!

Hi, I'm a mom of 2 middle schoolers and I sit in a cubicle all day for work. I have an active 2 yr old chocolate lab and I walk him daily, so trying to make those longer walks now. I've been away from tracking things I'm eating for a long time. Time to start again!

Hey y'all! I'm a renewed Sparker. I joined last year or the year before and did really well for awhile, then slacked and life got in the way.

Now my job depends on my ability to stay fit. I failed my last PT test (I'm an Air Force nurse) by 1 situp (yes, just 1), and it has essentially ruined my career. I would like to at least stay in to finish my 6 years, so I need to get that last dang situp. I'm back to drop the weight I have gained since joining the Air Force in fall of 2009. I'm deploying in December, so hopefully my deployment will also help me get in shape and lose weight!

Hello! I am 34 yrs. old and live just outside Seattle, WA. I am a SAHM to 5 little rugrats - 4 boys and 1 little girl. I like to run . . .although I haven't been doing much lately. I joined sparkpeople because I have been trying to weight on my own and it has been slow, ummmm not happening would be more accurate! Hoping sparkpeople can give me the "spark" I need. I am looking forward to connecting with others and helping each other along the way!

I've been on Spark since 2007. My trouble is losing weight AND KEEPING IT OFF. We all have to get used to the idea that this is a lifestyle change -- not a diet. You can't lose the weight and then feel like you're allowed to eat like a normal person. My biggest obstacles in my journey to stay at a healthy weight are 1) I don't like tracking my food, and 2) I struggle to get enough exercise. In both cases my excuse is time. However, I'm doing my best and I'll never, ever, give up. My theory is that even if I'm not at goal weight, I'm still eating better and exercising more than if I weren't on Sparkpeople and trying to do my best.

I'm the mother of 2 girls who have flown the nest. Now my time and attention is spent on my demanding job, my husband, dog, and 4 cats. I love, love, love to work in the yard and garden, travel, read, and write.

Welcome to SparkPeople, everyone!

Hello to you both and thanks! I admit I did slack off. The first 6 months of starting SP in 2007, I lost 100lbs. I had some personal struggles and other issues but I am determined to keep going. emoticon

I'm not even sure where to begin, I just wanted to say hi and that I'm excited to be doing this. I think I'm finally ready to get focused, but I know I can't do this on my own. I just turned 40 last month, a mom of one, teacher, and I live in Northwest Indiana. I really hope this is the motivation I've been searching for. I look forward to getting to know y'all!

cheers!
