Hey guys.
My name is Amy. I am 24. I have been using sparkpeople on and off for weight loss for a few years but restarted a diet when I gained some weight back around June 12th.

I started at 163/164 and am down to about 160/161 now. The lowest I have weighed in years is 153. I am 5'6. I have ALWAYS aimed to weigh 140. My first goal is 154 since that is the outer limit for my healthy BMI. I just have 6 lbs to go. I am going on a trip in July where I will hopefully be comfortable enough to wear my bikini. I hope to lose at least 6 lbs in 3 1/2 weeks.

I need some sparkbuddies to keep me on track. Anyone need a buddy, message me. Let's help each other.

I look forward to meeting you all.

Oops! I just responded on a topic and then realized I hadn't even introduced myself yet! Sorry about that.
I'm Irene, 48 years old, and a mom and massage therapist/business owner from Michigan. I've battled weight issues my whole life, and have had varying degrees of success. I was on weight watchers for 7+ years after my youngest son was born, and pretty much just burnt out on it. I had lost somewhere around 130 lbs on WW, and in the last year or so, gained 50 back. Started on Sparkpeople mid-June, and have lost about 14lbs. So far I'm loving it!

Hi everyone. My name is Kelly - I joined back on June 13th but just realized there was a group for the week I joined. I'm 51 and a Pharmacist in Omaha, NE and I finally have decided that I'm determined to get myself healthy so I can be around for a long time for my family. I found this SP website by accident and have really been impressed with everything about it.

Hello all! I joined SP back in June, but I've never said hello. I'm a 33 year old elementary school teacher. I currently am single with no children. I live with my boyfriend, and am hoping for our "future" to begin soon. I am saving money for a house, and tackling my weight issue, hoping to get pregnant after I take some weight off.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

emoticon Kelli! I love that you said you might go into Physical Therapy. We need good DPTs -- I know because I work as an office manager for the Physical Medicine & Rehab department of a local hospital and we are always looking for therapists. Apparently, the field is wide open and the $$ is good, too. So, there's my "nudge" in that direction. emoticon

Hi all!

I thought I'd finally get around to introducing myself to my teams! My name is Kelli, I've lived most of my life in Arizona. I'm single, no kids, I work as a nanny, but one of my goals is to go back to school and decide what I really want to do for the rest of my life. I may stay in early childhood education, but I've also always been interested in Physical Therapy, so who knows! And incidentally, July 1st I will be turning 29! My last year in my twenties and I just really want it to blow the rest of my twenties out of the water!

This is the second time I've joined Spark. I know that I can do it as I've had success (over 20 pounds worth) before. Sadly, I found out that I hadn't prepared myself for the actual weight lost and how that would effect me. That's something that I have learned this time around. You actually really do have to prepare for success. You WILL get attention, and you need to know how you plan on that affecting you. Before, I took it negatively (see freaked out) and gained all that weight back. This time, I am taking it as positively as I can. Even criticism.

Also, this time, I'm not just losing numbers, and I'm not doing this for anyone's expectations but my own. Not to be a certain weight (though I do have that goal set for Spark) or size, but certain abilities. Like...I wanna hike five miles, the hard kind I did as a teenager. I want to do go mountain biking. I want to do a stupid handstand in yoga! THOSE are my goals this time. A healthier, happier more capable me.

~Kelli~

Hi Everyone, I joined SP June 13th, but didn't realize until today there is "the class of!" Glad to find this group of people who started the journey the same time as I. I'm a 36 year old Mama of 2, looking to lose 10-15 pounds, but more importantly looking to become more healthy and be a better food/exercise model for my 5 and 2 year old children!

Hi everyone (:
I'm a nineteen year old girl from Iceland. I have a bad knee and can't play sports and I have always been unhealthy when it comes to food. I had never been overweight but I never really liked my body then I went as an exchange student to the u.s and I came home almost a year ago, however when I arrived I was 25 pounds heavier then when I had left. I lost 12 pounds in the first couple of months after I came home, not doing anything except returning to my icelandic diet (and that still included a lot of unhealthy stuff). In hope that this change would continue I did less then few things to improve my lifestyle. silly silly me.
I have been stranded at around 134 pounds for a while now and decided to do something about it (finally!). I was 126 pounds when I left but I my goal is 121 pounds.

-Wow that was longer then I thought it would be x)

Hello everyone I have set a goal with a time line. I am 58, and empty nester that is changing her life for something more exciting. I intend to lose 50 lbs or more in the next year for my 59th birthday. I want to look good on my cruise. I just started her on the 14th.

the Paradoox of time: Whabigger houses and smaller families.
Bigger churches and smaller congregations. A multitude of Prayer, but very little faith. A blessed life, but lack of gratitude. A loving God for our blemished hearts.
Whave multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values, We talk too much, love too seldom and hate to often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We have added years to life, but not life to years.

Hi everyone, i am a 38 year old mother of two children, 8 and 5. I have always been trying to lose the same 5- 10 pounds. Well, I now need to lose about 20-25 pounds and have found help through Sparkspeople. I am only on my 5th day but am finding the tracker to be so helpful in seeing how much i am able to eat , exercise, etc. I hope the tracking will help to keep my motivation up!

I gained back over 20lbs of weight I had lost and that makes me sick, then went on vacation and gained more weight, surrounded by people who all look fit and tan, and run on the beach and enjoy it! I want to be that person! And I'm going to get there!

I fell off the wagon a while back. Even though I didn't gain the weight back, (thank god), I am still no where near where I wanted to be. I have three great kids that I was to see grow up. Recently I have had some health issues that reminded me that I need to be healthy not only for myself but for the ones I love. Nothing like spending money on an MRI to get you motivated :)

So here I am again with a whole new way of looking at things getting ready to get healthy.

Hi, I'm new to SP, but have tried all sorts of diets before. With calorie counting, I have so far lossed 11 lbs...would have been 17, but regained 6lbs recently! I've joined SP today to gain inspiration and get back on track to losing the 50lbs I need to return to a healthy BMI. I'm already inspired by the posts I've read already!

Hi, I'm new to this site and so far am loving it. The accountability keeps me motivated. I am a mother of 2 beautiful boys, 6 and 1, and a full time child and adolescent psychiatrist. My days are so hectic that I feel drained and exhausted more often than not, ergo irritable. I realized this is not the person I want to be. Certainly not the mother and wife I want to be. emoticon Of course the gut I've nurtured throughout the 1st 2 quarters post partum doesn't help matters much. My goal is to lose 25 lbs. and have more energy to run around with my boys - even at the end of a busy work day. I believe a lot of us on this site have a similar endpoint in mind and I hope we can be of help to each other.

I am mother of two wonderful little boys, a graduate student, full time caseworker, and a sometimes hairstylist. I'm really excited to add the goal of positive reflection to my plan. Hi, I'm 52 years young, still fighting the same 40 pounds I gained after chemotherapy and chemo-induced menopause. Hoping this will be a better way. I'm reading "The Spark" and I like the message in there, seems like this might work. I really like all the motivational tricks, and the goal-oriented approach. I've never tried this kind of thinking before.

Hi Everyone... I'm new to this site and learning how to navigate it. I am a 61 yr old "Nana" with 7 grandkids. Married to the same wonderful guy for 43 years. He's retired but I still work full-time. I am planning to retire "early" in about 2 years. I need to lose about 90 pounds but honestly, I'd be happy with 50-60. I'm thinking small goals here and setting my first goal at 5 pounds. I love to quilt and sew and just bought a new sewing machine... hence my screen name! I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you and to learning how to use this site! I agree that it is a bit overwhelming!

Hi, my name is Donna, I just joined SP website today (overwhelming), and am 20% through the book, THE SPARK. I really like the positive message so far, and am looking forward to using the goal setting tips. I found the book through my Amazon Kindle. I had a really good day at work (today) and I know it's my attitude change, just from reading the book for a few hours.
I am from Michigan and been in Florida for 30+ years. Most of my life my weight was fine....until I took a desk job when 50 yrs old and went through menopause. I just joined Weight Watchers too. By changing the way I eat and exercise, I hope to get back to being healthier. Looking forward to finding out what SP is all about. :)

About 6 years ago I broke 200lbs and on a 5'7" frame that was not where I wanted to be. I managed to drop about 60 lbs, and keep it off for 5 years, but last year I quit smoking. Good for me, bad for my waistline. I have gained about 15lbs back, and I want to lose it before I am stuck with it. Although losing another 10 wouldn't break my heart either. emoticon I have also realized I am no longer 20 and if I don't start exercising I'm in trouble. Use it or lose it right?! And I am far too fond of sword fighting to give it up anytime soon. Good Luck to you all!!

Hi, my name is LIllian and I am new to this site. I am happy to be on it and feel it will be helpful in my diet, exercise, and health goals. I have type 2 diabetes and want to lose 60 pounds. My main goal is to reduce or eliminate my need for medication and control my diabetes with diet and exercise. I am a positive happy person who likes to look at the positive side of life, but I am determined and willing to work for my goals and plans. emoticon

Hi! I'm Cassie. I'm 19 and just finished my first year of college. It was awesome, but freshman 15 is for real! I started the year at 105 lbs. and ended it at 117! I've managed to get back down to 112, but I'd like to get back to the weight I was when I first started before I head back for round two!

Hey all - I'm a 47 year old mom, wife, employee - trying for the umteenth time to lose weight. I work out alot and tried running and was really loving it until my ankles, knees and back abruptly said no. I saw this book on the Kindle list and checked out the website before I bought it and am hoping that this will be a good thing for me! I have 40 pounds to lose and would love to see it go! I'm going to try my best, but with all that's going on it will be slow at first for sure. Reading all of the posts is getting me excited to think that this might actually work! Hoping to post more soon! Thanks to everyone!

Hi! My name is Allyson. I'm 20 years old. I'm joining SparkPeople because that's exactly what I need, a spark. I've battled intense depression, health problems, and family drama for the past 4 years. I finally snapped last summer when my dad got married and moved in two step-siblings into my house, my best friend pretty much dumped me, and I was put on academic suspension at my college. I developed and obsession with calorie counting and exercise, and after reaching a body I was truly happy with for the first time in my life it turned into full on anorexia. I went back to school in the spring, reached rock bottom health wise, and bounced back slowly. Coming home the family drama has yet to subside and now I cannot stop binging. I'm back to the weight I was before the anorexia and still gaining. I don't want to go back to not eating, but I don't want to continue eating everything in sight. I need to find some balance in my life. And I'm hoping a support system is exactly what will help pull me through.

Hi Jodeexx...It is a bit tricky to track your food but if you make it one of your goal before you go to sleep to do it and try new recipes that helps..that's what I have been doing, so far its good...but I am on day 5 only!! good luck. emoticon

Hi :) I'm Jodie from the UK. After a good start to my weight loss last year (on a crash diet) I've noticed the pounds are flying back on. Unwilling to go back to the way I was before I'm trying to change for the long term. I'm going back to college in September and I'm starting to learn to drive so I figured this is as good a time as any to trim the fat. One worry is I get bored with tracking every single calorie I eat. But I'm optimistic. Have fun everyone x

Hi all newbies like me..I think its the exercise as well as the tracking of food that's needed to shift the lbs...to be healthier you have to move!!! anything will help..even if its incidental...start small and build it up..you will hurt at the beginning but that will settle down and you will start to enjoy it...the key is to do things you enjoy..I love to dance so put on music loud and go for it!! I love to walk and look at the lovely gardens and get ideas for my garden at the same time...just do it...you can..good luck

Hi everyone. This is not my first trip to SP. I absolutely must lose some of this tonnage!. Knees say so. Have set my first goal low this time so it does not look so discouraging to look at needing to lose at least 80 pounds. It is so important to track your meals daily. Shows you where you are possibly going wrong, ie how much fat, carbs, and protein you are actually eating and not just a calorie count. I know a lot of protein is important and must drink glass after glass of water. Good luck to everyone, this is a really tough journey.

Hey all. My name is Will and I'm currently residing in Chesterfield, VA. The quick low down is my wife and I had our first child, Liam, in December. Coincidentally, I also hit my all time high weight of 290+ lbs. In March I started working towards getting my weight under control so I can be around for him. Family is very important to me as my father passed when I was 11, and my mother was my last close relative until she passed last year. I have a wonderful extended family thanks to my wonderful wife.

I'm an I.T. Guy for the Dept. of the Army (Civilian), and my hobbies are photography, boating, woodworking. Most of my photographs are online at http://www.flickr.com/photos/willcalder and of course most of those right now are of my little boy.

I'm here trying to find ways to keep motivated on my weight loss journey and hope that in someway I may help others and they have helped me!

Hello all,
I just started a 24 week program at a local gym who is having me incorporate this site along with the program. I am a soon to be 47 year old mother of 2 girls 14 and 25 and a 21 month old grandson. I have struggled with my weight most of my adult life. The past 10 years being the worse. I really got to give it my all this time. I am excited to get started!

Hello. My name is Stacey. I am a mother of an 8yr old boy and a 11 yr old girl. I left my husband over a year ago. Alcohol was a huge issue. I didn't want my kids or myself around it any more. It was a very stressful relationship that I tried to make work over and over. But I have moved on and it's time to think about myself. I have packed on the lbs again and it's time to get healthy for myself and my kids. I am in College trying to make a better life for us since I'm doing it on my own now. Want to be able to support us the best that I can. Thanks for having me! I'm here for support and to give support. emoticon

Hi Friends -

I'm Dana, am 47 years old and have about 40 pounds to lose. Like most of us, I'm a "professional" dieter, but an amateur maintainer. I'm here to give/receive support, and to learn moderation and healthy habits - to quit this diet roller coaster forever! I look forward to meeting you all. :)

SuzyQ, I also hate cooking & preparation - although it does seem more enjoyable when I'm eating for health, rather than just convenience.

My best strategy is simple, one-dish meals, prepared in advance. Make a big pot of chili and use it for several meals - even freeze some ahead of time. Make a huge salad and keep it ready in the fridge, so you can just grab what you want. When you grill chicken, make enough for a couple of days.

Cook once, eat twice (or more!). That's how I do it. Good luck to us both!

Hi everyone! I'm getting married in August and want to lose about 15-20 pounds before my big day. I am a teacher and just got done with school and will now be able to really focus on healthy eating and exercising. I've left my stress cloud at school and want to spend the next two months focusing on me and planning my wedding. I hope I can do it!

Hi everyone! I'm very excited about joining sparkpeople and I needed to do it because I have a huge challenge ahead of me! I'm 22, overworked (24 hour schedule) which means stress eating, and had major problems with my image which mean fad dieting, bulimia, mood swings,,,,,
I'm giving myself a 15 week challenge to get to finally get to my goal - the healthy way. I hope logging into sparkpeople a few times a day and reading fellow SP Class of June 12-18 stories will motivate me to stay on track! Good luck everyone!!!

Hi group, glad to be in this with you all. My name is Matt and have recently relocated to the Twin Cities, MN with my wife and 20 mo old daughter. I am trying to loose at least 50 lbs. I've also decided that general good health is my goal including good mental health and just generally making good and healthy decisions. I've decided that I will take up mountain biking as it is healthy and sounds like fun. I'm trying to take this gradually so that it sticks and becomes a habit. For example I am trying to increase my water intake as well as fruit and vegetables. Good luck to you all. For those of you all whonare starting school back up I know that youll do great. Many people are returning to school and doing great. Enjoy the ride.

Hi Everyone!

I am Lori and i am from Steeler country! I just found out about this site and joined today! So far I think it is really awesome that i am seeing so much support for each other.
I am a short (5ft) so it doesn't take much for me to gain a few pounds. As the years creep up, so has my weight. I would love to be 110 like I was in high school but wouldn't we all. As my parents begin to age and have health issues, it really starts to bring it home about the changes I need to make before it is too late. I know I am a little late in the game but i am ready to start a family and i want to do things right the first time. May God bless us all in this new journey.

Hi! I'm Roberta and this is the first time I have ever joined a group like this. I'm 57 and for the last 40 years of my life I have either been gaining or losing weight. I have never stayed the same. It's time to get healthy and a big part of that means losing 25 + lbs. I'm committed to a healthy eating plan with an exercise plan to go with it. I learned about sparks people from my health technician. She is encouraging me to write more about my struggles with weight and thinks this is the forum to do it. So here I go Class of June 12-18, 2011. We have work to do.

Hello Everyone!
I am new around here, and excited to be here. Love this site! I am a 40 something yr old lady from Massachusetts :0). My goal is to lose 30 pounds and be fit and strong. I'm a nurse, working night shifts a few times a week. Lucky to have a wonderful, supportive guy in my life, and his 2 kids as well, in our home.
I love exercising, mostly circuit training and walk/jog (one of my goals is to get ready for a 5K). however, I love to eat and need to track my calories. I guess there's no other way around it, sigh!
Looking forward to meeting everyone and hopefully making a few buddies along the way!

Hiya!

I'm a return Sparkle with 182 lbs. to lose. I hit 300 lbs. today. The biggest I've ever been. I remember in high school telling my best friend jokingly that if I ever got that big she should shoot me. It's a good thing she's in another state because she's not one to go back on her promises.

I could have cried and believe me wanted to but instead it really only strengthened my resolve. I am done making excuses. I'm not stupid. In fact, I've probably read more on weight loss than I have on any other subject so I can't plead ignorance. I know what I'm supposed to do. It's just time that I did it. So now I'm back with Sparkpeople (again) and I'm going to stick it out this time if it kills me because if I don't it just might.

Hello! I'm Rachelle. I'm 31 and returning to school this fall for the first time in over 12 years.

I gained 80 lbs due to PCOS and am determined to lose 50 of it! (I was -too- thin before) with a combination of eating right, exercise, and supplements (for the PCOS). I'm looking forward to using Sparkpeople to watch my progression.

Hi! I'm Amber. I am here because I want to get my old self back! I am 37, a single (divorced) mom of a 3 year old, and a returning college student.

I have gained a whopping 40 pounds since I had my daughter - most probably due to stress-eating and convenience foods, not to mention staying in during the cold Wisconsin winters - and I don't feel comfortable in my own body anymore.

I'm here ready to make a fresh start!

Hi! My name is Christin-Elizabeth. I'm 21 years old and live in Georgia. I came across this website last night, and while browsing through I found so many things I like about it that I decided to join. As of now I think I weigh around 275, but I'm going to night to buy a scale to find out exactly how much I weigh... and that make me a little nervous. I have over 100 pounds to lose, a task that seems to daunting that it scares me, I often wonder how I'm going to do it. I've finally decided that it's time to do something about it. I have control over my life and my body, including what I put into it and what I get out of it. I want to be HAPPY. I want to be HEALTHY. I want to be ME.

Wow! Just joined today, feeling amazed and a bit overwhelmed by the amount of information. But really looking forward to the journey, getting off the diet merry go round. I know how to lose weight but not how to make it stick for the long term, have been losing and regaining the same 10 kgs for the last 20 years.

Hi everyone. I found sparkpeople through somebody's blog. I was looking for motivational photos and stories of weight loss to help myself and a girl named Laura spoke about SparkPeople. I joined today and so far its been wonderful to really keep track of everything that I'm hoping to change about myself! I wish everybody luck with their goals!

Hi my name is Stacy and I'm new to SP. I've always been tall and thin. And, I've always been consumed by my weight. My weight gradually increased after my kids were born and as my marriage failed. After my divorce I lost a considerable amount of weight for my frame due to stress and the changes the new life brings. I don't like to work out. At all. Ever.

Not wanting to be another relationship, I was surprised when I started talking to a friend from HS, fell in love and got remarried 10 months ago. Finally found out what marriage is supposed to be like. And now, the weight has come back - this time because he is a great cook and he's had reconstructive back surgery three times since October so what I consume has not been as diligent as I once was.

Two months ago, I found running and I love it! I now love to exercise and think about that more than I think about my weight (or almost).

Looking forward to being my normal healthy self now that my love is on the mend and the "normal" has almost returned.

Stacy

Hello, my name is Audrey and I am new to SP. I have been over weight my whole life and am ready for a change. My long term goal is to be in my healthy BMI range by December 2012. Since I am short that equals up to about 150 pounds to lose. I have tried other diets and failed because I got bored with it. I hope that I can remain dedicated to this and that I can reach my goals!

Hi,

I am Kelli, the Kitchen Chic.

I have a short term goal of losing 22 pounds before leaving on a cruise on 09-01-11. My Long term goal is to reach 130 by 02-03-11 for my birthday.

I am following the South Beach Diet along with...JM 30 Day Shred 6x/week , walking 30 mins 6x/week, and a 20 min Pilates workout 6x /week.

I have built up to this over a few weeks and have already lost 11 pounds so far!

I run a prison kitchen and bake cupcakes and casseroles on the side. emoticon

I gave my life to become the person I am now. Was it worth it. -Richard Bach
