Hello everyone! I have been a sparker since June 11. I have been trying to find y'all for about a week or 2 now. LOL...I found sp class of June and July 2011, and have recently become one of the co-leaders of that team! Feel free to stop by, join, or simply have some fun!
I started losing weight on my own with a tiny bit of success. I lost 6 lbs that month. Then I found sparkpeople and lost another 8 to date. I started here at 258, and am very happy to say I am down to 250! I have been fighting a cold for the past half week, so not much of anything for my trackers.
My motto: Baby steps. One foot in front of the other!

Hi. I'm Angela & I've been a member since June 7. Really feel good about the committment I've made to changing my lifestyle.

I'm a mom of 4 DD, 35, & need to loose at least 30 pounds. I quit smoking 3 years ago & it all creeped on. My husband took charge of his health & has lost 70 pounds, started running & biking. I have a huge sweet tooth & am a cake baker/decorator, which makes it hard to keep at my routine sometimes.

Well I have been "Sparking" for almost 3 weeks now and I am learning a bit more about all the site has to offer every day. The Android phone app is great for keeping track when I am at work but I still have to remind myself to log in everything-I think it makes a difference-working on discipline.

Anyway-I am a mom and wife in my 40's who needs to lose about 95 pounds. I am off to a pretty good start I think but I realize that it is a long road. I have prediabetes and don't want it to progress so I have to make this work. I need motivation as each day seems to be like the first one. Glad to be in the group so that we can all support one another! Looks like everyone is doing well and making good choices. Can't wait to see where we all end up! emoticon

emoticon Hi, everybody! I joined last month and have been slowly figuring out SP's site. I like the nutrition and fitness trackers the most, and I also like that everyone is so supportive! I thought I'd join this team to keep me even more accountable. I don't want to let my SP Class down, after all!

I'm 30 and a teacher, and I'm focusing on greater fitness this summer. I'm a little nervous about integrating this new healthy lifestyle into the school year, but I will figure it out!

Well, I'm out for a little jog and then to the grocery for some healthy 4th of July food!

Hi all, this is my 2nd week and I am learning to maneuver through this site...great site!! Well, I shattered my tibia & fibula in December and have spent the last 6 months in agony. I was non-weight bearing for over 3 months and crutchin it for another month and a half. I am now trying to learn to walk again, but am having lots of pain and trying to adjust to this new hardware in my leg. I was a good 15lbs overweight when the accident occurred, and added 20lbs sitting on my bum. So, I'm working on 35lbs and trying to re-gain my mobility. I am usually an extremely athletic person (broke my leg skiing) and kept my weight from getting too out of control playing tennis five days a week. So, without my exercise I am not sure how to really get the weight off. I have struggled with weight issues my whole life and truly want to develop a healthy relationship with food and my body. Wish me luck....I've got alot on my plate....well, except for food..less food on my plate :)

Hello! My name is Alice and I'm from the UK. I haven't used the community side of the website yet but am finding the cardio tracker really motivating! It's also very eye-opening to use the nutrition tracker, and I think one of my goals is going to be to track my meals before I cook them so I can adjust the calorie content in things I didn't realise were so calorific!

Is the 40 something-metabolism-slowing thing true? I was really overweight in my 20-30's now I'm 10 pounds from my goal in my 40s. It is the same 10 pounds I have gained and lost many times. I really think you are as young as you feel. I work in healthcare near some retirement communities- some of these 80 year olds can kick my butt! You are only half way through at age 40, if your metabolism slowed then by the time you are 80 you would be nothing but a blob! Unless you have thyroid problems it is not really a metabolism problem, it is a belief problem. You believe what too many people have told you, shed it now. Rev up your metabolism by using the tools here- especially the fitness tracker. Ok I'll get off my soap box now. I can't believe how conprehensive this site is. Wish I had found it long ago!

I actually signed up with SparkPeople in 2009, but never did much with it. It was telling when I logged back in last week, to see that my "current" weight 2 years ago was 5 pounds lighter that what I'm at now! Ack!

Basically, I am looking to lose the 10 pounds that crept on over the years as I hit 40 and my metabolism slowed.

Hi,
I joined last week while vacationing in Las Vegas. Sounds silly I know, but I purchased The Spark on my Kindle and read the first few chapters on the plane on my way to Sin City. I checked into the site a bit everyday but now that I'm home am trying to explore and participate in Spark People more. Tomorrow is my one-week weigh-in and measure, and I'm really excited.

Tracking my caloric intake has really been eye-opening for me, and I'm so glad I found this site! I've already weighed myself during the week, and seen a couple pounds down. And I've only been cutting calories so far.

I'm enjoying the process of tracking my calories, water intake, tracking other goals and participating in challenges.

Hey there!

I'm 23, graduated in December with my MSW and have been working full time as a school social worker since January. My new schedule threw off my habits because my day starts so early and I'm still getting used to that.

My eating habits are generally pretty healthy, with the exception of recent (stress and boredom) binges (contributing to my weight gain). When I have the will, I am able to work out regularly- however, I have fallen into some bad habits. By the time I get home from work, I find myself exhausted and just wanting to relax. Hello! I'm 27 years old and live in a small town in Montana. I got married two years ago, and that's when the problems with my weight started. I've always had horses and ridden 5-6x a week, but in my current town, I don't have an indoor arena and the weather hasn't permitted much outdoor riding. I've also been waitressing for the past two years, which hasn't helped my waistline either. I've done two rounds of P90X and gained incredible strength but lost NO inches around my waist where I need to the most. I lost the first 10 pounds on my own through a raw food diet, and I'm hoping to lose the last 15 with some support here. I love how easy it is to track what I eat here--I think that is going to be my biggest battle!

My goal is to adopt healthy eating and fitness habits for a lifetime, to get off the diet treadmill. Here I am again, but this time I am going to lose those 20 pounds for good to get to a healthy weight and fitness level. My mother is a diabetic and unless I keep the weight off and exercise regularly, I am headed down the same path, according to my doc. So, full of hope and really liking the site. I stayed on my meal plan today, lifted weights and did some stretching. I feel full of energy for a change. emoticon

Hi - I'm Patti. I have been on this weight loss journey forever (or so it seems). I have done WW numerous times and did get close to goal once. emoticon
There are a ton to things going on in my life right now, but I know I have to put getting fit at the top of the list. I'm 57 and it time to take serious action.

Hi, I am 23 and working on my master's degree. I've gained a lot of weight in college, especially in the least three years. I'm hoping to lose most of the weight and get closer to what I weighed in high school. Hi everyone! It's great, because you see that everyone else has other things to think about than just fitness! It's definitely important in your life, but there are so many issues we all have to deal with in addition to exercise.

It's awesome that you're going to work on weight loss before university! It's definitely a good idea to start healthy habits before university, because it can get stressful, trust me!

I just turned 29. In this past year, I have gotten divorced, switched job, had mono, and gained between 25-30 pounds. I have two sweet little boys that I want to be able to play hard with. Mainly I am sick of feeling tired and sluggish. I've struggled with my weight for the past ten years. It's been up and down. This isn't my biggest, but pretty close and i had swore to myself I wouldn't let myself get this big again, but the weight just crept back on.

Hello,

My name is Lisa. I'm 29 and have been overweight for the last 12 years. Enough is enough. I want to be healthy and feel good about myself. I want to look as great as my fiance does when we get married next summer!

I have an unhealthy BMI score and am trying to lose 35 lbs - which would put me at 140. I am 5'6". I carry the majority of my weight in my hips, thighs, and even my calves.

I've been working out 4 mornings a week, doing between 25-35 minutes of moderate to intense circuit training with free weights - Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels workout DVDs. I've been on this routine for a month. I watch my calories very closely, but so far I haven't really lost weight. Some of my clothes seem to fit a little better, and I am proud of my commitment and consistency so far, but overall my results have not been as good as the previous times I've tried to lose weight. Of course this is frustrating, so I'm trying to be patient and not give up. I try to tell myself that even if I'm not skinnier, my heart is healthier.

Hopefully SP can help me find the tools and resources I need to be my best self, inside and out!

I'm new to the site, heard a lot about it but finally decided to join! What was I waiting on? Who knows... but I'm here now and that what matters! I have been overweight since I was 17, and I'm fed-up, fired-up, and ready for a change!! Hello - I'm Junebug. I just joined this morning and am making my way through exploring the site.

I have a lot of changes happening in my life right now and I have come up with a plan for where I want to be 2.5 years from now. Part of that plan is a healthier me.

I have joined a gym - I went in yesterday to do a fitness assessment which was humbling. I did a treadmill fit test where I had to run at a steep incline for only 2.5 minutes but I was dizzy and naseous afterwards.

I really want to get in better shape. I feel like I'm at a good place in life because I'm actually quite happy with myself... but at the same time I would like to ultimately lose about 80lbs. I'm just not beating myself up over it.

I look foward to moving forward and having a healthier lifestyle.

I am Carla and have been a member of Spark People for almost 2 years now and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute. I lost almost 50 pounds and I've changed my way of eating to a new healthier lifestyle. I've come to love fitness which is saying a lot since I used to be the one who never participated in anything remotely related to activity. Now I run races, take fitness classes at the gym on a regular basis and just love being able to be more active.
