I'm working on losing 65 lbs, 55 to go after 10 weeks on here. This takes patience and perserverance! I constantly remind myself of why doing this and after 10 weeks, I don't want to go back to the beginning. I feel so much better. I'm still struggling with nutrition, but I'm getting better and know the areas I need to fix. Hang in there sista! The alternative is quitting and staying the same or gaining more weight. I know you got this! And we are all here for support!

I definitely agree with what has been said here. It is very simple to lose the weight, but not easy. If you can stick with a few simple habits like eating less, tracking your food consumption and adding in a little exercise, you should have no problem. But, sticking with it can be difficult. Patience is key. You can do it!

There is a difference between simple and easy.

As was said the way to lose weight is to eat fewer calories than you are burning. We know that you need to reduce your calories (through diet and exercise) by 3500 to lose 1 pound. That is very simple. It is easier said than done.

I have found that tracking my intake has made me more aware of what (and how much) I am putting into my body.

I have also been walking. I walk in the morning with my dogs (I take each dog for an individual walk and I have 3) I also garden and work around my yard.

You may have times of loss and of gain. Don't let this get you down, it is natural (though frustrating.) When you need help or encouragement we are here for you

I'm actually impressed that a doctor told you to lose weight for your health. In my experience they dance all around the weight issue for fear of losing you as a patient. Maybe your doctor can go a little further than just telling you to lose weight, and suggest a dietician, or meal plans, or some kind of plan. It IS hard to lose weight, nobody will tell you it's easy. It IS kind of simple...eat less, move more...but it's not easy.

to hell with the doctor. do it because you will feel good and look great. do it because you may have a really good time on the web site. do it for what you have to learn from reading and experimenting. there are tons of reasons that have nothing to do with the fear and shame you felt being told that. use the food trackers and read what others are doing and you will find things that may work for you too.

Losing the weight is certainly harder than putting it on! You have found sparkpeople, so you're made a good first step. Ideas are everywhere on here. Join some teams that interest you, read the articles, track your food, use the fitness videos on here...but be gentle with yourself. It will take some time to lose the weight, just like it took time to put it on. You can do this, one day at a time.
