Norleel,

I hope you continue with spark people. I have used other web sites for weight loss in the past and I have not stayed with them. The reason was the same as you.....you lose some weight, think you can continue without any support and the weight sneaks back up. I really like this website and enjoy the people and teams. Good luck this time. If you are consistent, the weight will come off!!!!

This is my first post on any message board. I joined Sparkpeople in may, and tracked food for a few weeks. then, i just fell away. i was making better food choices, maybe, and my weight didn't go up, so i talked myself into the idea that i could do it on my own. AGAIN. I didn't track, i didn't post. I didn't anything.

in the library last week, i saw the Sparkpeople cookbook, and all the guilt hit. doing it on my own wasn't working at all. so i borrowed the book, and started reading, thinking i would change my life (and the lives of my teenage son and husband along the way, whether they liked it or not.) I know, though, that this will now work for me either. in the clear light of monday morning, i know that i need to start small, and make changes that work for me.

this time, i won't fall away, and i will use the tools and the relationships on sparkpeople to help keep me motivated. emoticon

Hi! I joined this team a while ago and then just stopped using sparkpeople. about a week ago, I came back and have decided to get serious after reading everyone's posts. I joined the "biggest loser" competition and am excited to begin but when I went back to my spark teams, this team was not listed on my page. I don't know how or why that happened. I hope that it is not an omen!! I am rejoining today and still want to be in the competition. Looking forwrd to connecting with everyone.

Hi Everyone,
It took me a while to get started and began to look at this team. I did nothing for about the first month. Now I have been trying to catch up. I have been tracking my food and pretty much been in the right calorie range. BUT, my problem is getting into exercise. I make any excuse to "do it later". Even though I am in the calorie range, I can see that if I don't exercise I will not lose weight. I am so impressed with what you all are doing. I hope to learn from you! emoticon

Hey all! Took me awhile to get to this team, but glad to see people are trying to make a difference. It's interesting to see that over 19,000 people signed up during that week!

Good luck to all and stay strong.

Hi folks! This is my first time participating with this team. I am trying to visit with each of my Spark teams at least once a week now. I am 42 years old and live on a small cattle ranch in Texas. I am a city girl who married a country boy. I have been happily married for 22 years now to my hansome firefighter/farmer hubby. I have a 10 year old son who is the love of my life...my miracle. I have four cats and 1 dog. I am a stay-at-home mom but, need to go back to work this Fall due to the ecomony. I have been over-weight almost all my life. I have lost and gained a lot of weight in my life. I starting spiraling down into depression 5 years ago when I hurt my back and neck in a car accident and ballooned up to 300 pounds. I had become someone I did not recognize and I was angry with myself for it. I stumbled on to Sparkpeople while searching for a new diet plan and once I started reading about it...I was hooked. This website is my salvation. I never thought I could lose weight again. I was so beat down that I was afraid to even attempt to lose weight again because I couldn't heap another failure on my shoulders. But, by some miracle, my attitude has changed. I have lost 16.6 pounds so far and my journey to lose weight is now a new lifestyle and not a diet! That is the difference this time. The interaction with other people like me has fueled the flame that will keep my dreams alive. When I stumble, I get up and keep moving forward. I am not in a hurry anymore. I take one day at a time and make progress with small victories. I no longer sit and wait for a better tomorrow...I am making a better today! Thank you for being here with me.

Good morning all,
I will be 40 this August and have decided that my present to myself is that I will run a half-marathon for my birthday! I've done one several years ago, but nothing that long since then. I retired from the Navy after 20 years and now I'm working at a college. I will be finished with my bachelors degree by August and then maybe I can find a better paying job!

I have a son who will be 16 in July and have been married to my wonderful husband for over 19 years.I've been "on a diet" since i was about 15. I've finally realized that this needs to be a lifestyle and not a diet. So, from now on, I am trying to be the healthiest I can possibly be! I look forward to reading everyone's posts. Have a fantabulous day!!!

I am 36 years old, and have 27 pounds to lose till goal weight. I can't wait to make some progress....I feel much better at a lower weight.

Hi, I am just now getting around to posting an intro. I'm a 28yr old mommy of three caretaker of four and I am wanting to lose about 70lbs or so. I stink at diets and procrastinate exercising if I can get away with it. I joined up to hopefully hole myself accountable and motivate.

Hi everyone, although I started last week, I really am starting to take this seriously this week. I am 46 (I think) and am a teacher. I am looking forward to really working hard this summer to get into good habits, and lose the unwanted weight.
Hope everyone is having a great day, and although the week is just beginning a great week.

Welcome Sarina! I just logged in yesterday. We are all trying to learn the ropes. I find it time consuming but very educational. The more I work in the program the easier the computer portion becomes. I hope and pray that I can say the same regarding the weight loss portion. I know it will take a lot of work, but I know it will be worth it.

Hi, I am new to the Sparks program. I need to lose weight that never seems to go away. I am 63, the mother of one and Mom-Mom of 2, and have a wonderful husband. I am looking forward to the help and support of this program. The nutrition tracker has been an eye opener this week.

My name is Sayge and I was doing great with my weight loss until I hit a plateau and wasn't dropping any more weight. I let my eating habits get out of hand and managed to get back up to my heaviest weight. Bummed out for being back where I started and not happy with how I look, I am back on the weight loss wagon again! I am new to SparkPeople and am absolutely loving it so far! It's been a huge help in tracking not just what exercise I do and what calories I burn from that, but the real eye opener is the nutrition tracker and I think that's where I needed the most help.

Hi fellow sparkers! I joined back in January, got side-tracked with life but now I'm back! Good news: I have not gained any weight since last time I started. Bad news: I haven't really lost any either! I invested in a treadmill and now that the baby is on a better nap schedule, I have time when my older two kids are at school to really work out! I'm looking forward giving and receiving support from everyone else who is starting (or re-starting) this journey now! emoticon

Hi Everyone!

My name is Sharon, I am a 40 year old mother of two. I've recently been doing the WW online but have decided to try something else and after seeing an article I decided to check out SparkPeople.

Hey guys! Really excited to meet all of you and to join each other on this awesome journey of getting in shape and losing weight! :) This is my first time using sparkpeople and I'm super excited!

So I'm 24, 100% single, and looking for a soulmate...wait..this isn't a dating site is it! ;) Ok...seriously. I am really 24 and I've just started my first real job after college and serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Well, I've suddenly found that losing weight is a lot harder when you are no longer eating rice and beans and walking 8 miles both way up hill to teach in rural school. Rather, I spend about 3 weeks a month traveling for work which has means I eat out almost all of meals and have the added challenge of finding healthy choices at our fine restaurants.

My major goal besides losing weight is really to start training for a triathlon. I'm already ready to go for my first 1 mile open water swim, but I need to start the running and biking in my life!

Stay amazing guys! We can do this!!! :)

Hello everyone! Second time here with a new user name as I couldn't sign into the old one - and loving the new look and tools! Last time I didn't reach my goal, although I did lose, and life has a way of throwing curves, so I'm back with weight I'd like to see disappear and to get in shape! Am super motivated and after four days of eating correctly and walking 30 minutes each day I'm feeling amazing! SparkPeople rocks!

♥One day at a time - this is enough. Do not look back and grieve over the past for it is gone; and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful it will be worth remembering.♥ www.theurgetopreserve.com

Hey everyone! I am Becca and I was a member last year and lost a good deal of weight but then gained a lot of it back due to stress from a horrible living situation.

I am back on the wagon again and am going to stick with it through thick and thin! I know I can do it now that I have no one to hold me back (aside from myself!). We can do this together :)

Hi!!

My name is Michelle. I am a 42 year old SAHM. My husband and I have been married for 11 years. I have struggled with my weight all of my life. I am 4'11" tall and currently weigh 203 pounds. I weighed 216 at my highest.

I have had 2 bouts of pancreatitis 4/13 and 4/30. I am continually nausious. I have dropped 13 pounds since 4/13. Not the best way to lose weight, but I will take it. I am trying to figure out exactly what I can eat and not trigger another attack.

I have been told by my doctor I can walk but to be very careful. So I will try to walk early in the morning and late in the evenings.

I look forward to getting to know everyone and making some great support buddies.

(`.) God Bless!

Hi!

My name is Genavieve and i am a young mom of 21. My daughter is 20 months old and is my secondary motivation to lose the 46lbs I've packed on in the past 5 years. I am currently 186lbs and my goal is to be 140lbs, I haven't set a goal date and I don't plan on focusing mostly on the pounds but would rather just focus on the changes in my body (I can become quite obsessive and feel a scale would not be my friend).I have a lot of emotional baggage and I know this is a huge factor in my weight and weight loss.

I joined SparkPeople now because I turned 21; I'm adult now and need to start proving to myself I can in fact do anything I put my mind to. I am so proud of myself for the past 3 days despite my nutrition being horrid. I have never been even close to athletic and have never enjoyed exercise, the extent of my exercise has always been gym in high school and walking. So me sticking to something like fitness is shocking.

I have been doing a fitness DVD everyday since Monday, and a combination of walking and running my stairs Monday and Tuesday. 3 days and going strong is a huge accomplishment for me!

My nutrition on the other hand is my problem, I ate close to 3000 calories yesterday and went way over my fat content goals. Seeing it written down is my first step to fixing the problem. My main goal write now with nutrition is to write down EVERYTHING! No lying, no short selling. Of course I also want to eat better but I think writing it down and having to look at it will make me realize how awful I'm being to my body.

Sorry for the novel! I'm very excited to start this journey with other people it can only make it easier!

My name is Donna. I am 45 years old, married 23 years to a wonderful man, and have 2 daughters. I live north of Atlanta, GA and am a stay at home mom as well as homeschooler. For about 4 years, I have been working on getting fit - with stops and starts along the way. I need to lose around 70 pounds and have given myself ample time to do it in with 1 pound a week as a goal. I found that I had to deal with alot of "background" issues prior to starting this process - that had nothing to do with food or fitness. Alot had to do with how I viewed myself, the kinds of people who surrounded me, my own goals in life, how I viewed food, on and on. This is a lifetyle change for me and one I will have to keep as a priority for the rest of my life.

Look forward to talking with all of you soon.

Blessings,
Donna

Hi everyone!

My name is Natalie, I am originally from Mississippi -- however, I am currently "living" in Dallas, TX. (I say "living" because I am still considered to be on "temporary assignment" so I'm still living in a hotel until I get my official permanent assignment and can actually relocate here).

My wedding will be on October 9, 2011 in Jackson Square New Orleans!!

:) I lost 105 lbs in 2009-early 2010, and maintained until about mid November. I've gained nearly 30 lbs of it back due to catastrophe & loss in my family, as well as a very full plate of just... LOTS of things going on!

I am trying to get back to where I was before, and then lose some more! I am not necessarily looking to be a model (my body is ruined now anyway, due to having been morbidly obese -- so modeling career is out the window LOL as if haha)... I just want to get to my goal of mid-130s, size 9/10 jeans, and tone my arms so they don't look like I'm trying to fly away.

I hope SparkPeople can help me keep myself motivated!!

Hi everyone! My name is Molly and I am 22 years old. I am getting married this July, which is one of my main motivations for being here. I have considered myself overweight since I was in high school, but in the past year it has really become an issue because I have really gained an unhealthy amount of weight since I started dating my fiance. When we got engaged a little over a year ago, I told myself I was going to lose all this weight, and now it is May and I haven't been nearly as successful as I have been, and I am really nervous about how I will look in my dress. I have nearly 100 pounds to lose, but now I am just setting a goal of 50 pounds, which seems much more achievable. I am hoping to lose a considerable amount bu July. Sometimes I just wish I could go back about two months so I could have more time to lose weight- it is getting way too close! My fiance and I will be going to Bermuda for our honeymoon, so I would like to get to the point where the idea of wearing a bathing suit isn't so terrifying to me!!

Hi everyone. Like the rest of you, I'm here to lose weight and get healthy through diet and exercise. I'm a 59 year-old grandma, married for 42 years to my high school honey, live in Alabama, and I'm thinking that finding this site is a gift from above. All the mutual support and encouragement we'll find here will go a long way to keeping us motivated and on track.

In the past, I've been successful several times in losing weight, but now that I'm older, it's gotten a lot harder, or so it seems. I gained mucho pounds in the past 3 years since a chemo regimen that apparently wreaked havoc on my metabolism (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!), so it's time to get serious about portion control and regular exercise.

Good luck to all of you, and it's going to be great going through this journey together.

Linda

Hi, I'm Victoria and I live in Ontario. After losing 40 pounds several years ago, I still struggle to keep to my goal weight of 140. It's that 10-15 pound fluctuation. Now I have to start watching my cholesterol, so it's probably a good time to really start to maintain a focus on my lifestyle as part of my forever routine. I'm at "that age" (53 this year) where I am going to get all the signs that I need to start paying attention.

This site is quite remarkable in terms of all the different things on it and things to do and read.

Do, or do not. There is no 'try'.

Hello everyone! I'm Tatiana, and this is my second time on sparkpeople. I had an account about 3 years ago, but with getting married and moving across the country for grad school I lost track/got out of the habit of keeping up with it. But I find that I like to keep track of the things I do and I forgot how nice sparkpeople.com was for this! Really glad to be back. :)

I suppose my primary goal is to lose weight, about 20 pounds, but if I can manage it, maybe 27 or so. I'd be happy with 20 though. I've always felt uncomfortable in my own skin, but having gained some weight since getting married and moving makes me really anxious to really get down to what has been my goal weight for years. But I would also really like to run a marathon one day! In particular, I'd like to do one of the Disney marathons that goes through the whole park at some point, but I'd like to do others as well. In the meantime, I want to work my way up by doing smaller, local runs like 5ks, 10ks, half-marathons, etc. At the very least, I want to be able to run those distances on my own, before I get to Disney. :)

Good to meet you all, best wishes for the team (and thanks for your patience with the long post ^-^)!

Hi

I am Sabra. I am a 48 year old mom. I have 4 kids. My daughter moved into her own apartment tonight so it is now me and my 15 year old son. He will be out of school in about 3 weeks and he is also working on fitness goals. This seems like a good time for a new start.

Hi, I'm Beth. I'm 25-years-old and recently went back to college. This last fall, I regained my freshman 15, so this spring I'm working toward losing them again.

In the past, I was a runner, but a recent tear in my shin has relegated me to low-impact activity. My current plan is to follow the Turbo Jam exercise program.

I've been aware of SparkPeople for a couple years now, but haven't had the nerve to join until now. I like the community atmosphere and hope that it helps keep me accountable so that I may achieve my goals.

I look forward to getting to know all of you! :)

Hi my name is Cheryl ~ I am 46 and from California. I joined to get me motivated to lose weight and get healthy. I know I need to take baby steps and start with a few changes. But I seriously lack in motivation. BUT, I need to do it! So I hope Sparkpeople can help, and I can help others.

Hi all! I'm Sara and heard about how great Sparkpeople.com was for tracking and decided to give it a whirl. I recently had a dietitican put a 1200 cal a day meal plan together for me that is balanced between protein, good fats, and good carbs. I'm looking to lose between 20-30 lbs. I'm starting at around 160 lbs even though i haven't weighed myself in a couple weeks. I'd like to be between 130-140. If anyone wants some insight on what my RD has me eating, I'd be more than happy to share! I like it alot so far, and i'm not hungry at all.

Hello Everyone

My name is Melissa. I am 28 and live in Columbus, OH with my husband of 5 years and our 2 dogs.

I have been on Sparkpeople before and have not had much success due to lack of motivation/will power. I am a perfectionist at heart and will do well most of the day and then at night blow it. Since I messed up one day, I then blow the week and say I'll start over the next week. It's a bad cycle that I am trying to break by focussing on one thing at a time.

I have gained 90lbs over the past 8 years and am looking to get back to comfortable weight where I can be more active.

It seems I am not alone in the fact that this is not my first rodeo with SP. This is my 3rd time with an account. My name is Stephanie and I have been married for 13 years and have 2 wonderful children.

I only have 10-15 I want to lose and that is so hard to do. I get discouraged and give up. I am not wanting to stay at just ok with my body. I want to be proud of myself and look and feel great. I hope this time I can put to practice everything I know.

Good luck to everyone on their weight loss journey. I hope we can help each other along the way!

So glad to see that there is actually a team out here that unites people like me who are starting the weight loss journey this week. In my case, I am actually gathering up the courage to start over.

I have been on and off diets earlier, but I did start out in right earnest at the beginning of this year, kept at it quite well for 3-4 weeks, lost some pounds and was doing good till Murphy struck. I had to go through 3 surgeries to fix an arm fracture gone complex. Lost mobility for a few weeks due to a bone graft from my leg...undid all the good work of January.

By now, I have gained back what I lost and more. Now that I am able to walk around ok (as opposed to hobbling for the past 10-12 weeks), I am gathering up the nerve to start this task again.

Looking forward to checking in regularly and sharing my progress, and hoping to bond with some of you during my journey. Thanks.

Hello everyone my name is Sharon i am 49, I live in Tennessee. Back in 2002 -2003 i lost over a hundred pounds and keep it off until 2009. In 2009 i had a back injury which resulted in bulging disc in my low back. Due to steroids and inactivity and emotional eating i have gained around hundred pounds back. So once again i am begaining this journey of weight lost. My we all reach our weight lost goals.

Hi - my name is Melissa, I'm 34 years old, mother of 1 little girl (turning 2 tomorrow) and have been down this road already. Its not rocket science, eat right and exercise, but I have not been able to follow this simple task! I joined spark about 3 years ago and lost 30 lbs, great!!! soooooooooo, I have to do it now. I just realized the other day that I'm the "fat friend" and almost passed out. I want to look and feel healthy, be around for my daughter and wear a bathing suit and not cringe!

WE CAN DO THIS!!!! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Hi,

I'm from the Chicago area, in my mid 30s and a librarian, wife and mother. I joined spark 2 years ago and lost 20 lbs. Then I stopped working out and logging my food and low and behold, I'm right back where I started. Sigh. I really want to get healthy and start losing weight again. I loved the way I felt when I was eating well and exercising. I just need some motivation.

My plan this week is to stay within my food range and drink lots of water. I'm planning to start exercising next week. Does anyone do the firm or Jillian Michaels' workouts? They are tough but so worth it.

Hi all my name is Donna. The main reason I joined Sparks is because I had a very good friend that passed away May 1st. She was a lot over weight and one of the things I promised myself is that I would try to start losing weight as soon as I could. I want to do this for me but mainly for Mary. emoticon

HI everyone,
I'm almost 40 and I enjoy doing Triathlons. I am slow but i get to the finish line. My goal is to remove 40 lbs by no set date. I went to a nutritionist last fall who had me increase my carbs to a super high amount. I like carbs and with the permission to eat more of them, I did! Within a month I was 10 lbs heavier. I didn't go back to her and have yet to get those extra 10 pounds off. I don't think my body does well with so many carbs. I am going to try a gluten free diet, more clean eating, more water and exercise. Since I do Triathlons, I got the exercise part down, I just need to eat a little healthier. Perhaps with this combination I will see the scale numbers go down.

Hi there!

I'm Belinda, I'm 30 and I live in Australia. I've always been a big person, pretty active, and never really felt that my weight held me back from doing what I want. Until now. I gave up a corporate life to study musical theatre, and I'd like to be able to dance as well as I possibly can, and to look as good as I feel.... so, here I am! Looking forward to reading about everyone's success!

All the best in your journeys.

Hey everyone. I'm Meagan and recently married to TJ, hence the name. emoticon ...

I've a few friends here @ SP, and they finally talked me into joining. Some days I feel like I have lots of weight to lose and others day I believe I'd be happy with shedding these 30 Life pounds. I'm a plain Jane type of girl who prefers solitary confinement to social engagements of many kinds, so the Internet and places like SP are ideal for my Self-diagnosed Agoraphobic Person.

My mode of exercise right now is Leslie Sansone Walk @ Home videos.
I have a emoticon , however, I just don't have the motivation nor inspiration to go outside and be productive. emoticon

Hi Joanna, Deb, Sam, Repeatedly, Susan and Sillyhp:

My name is Jennifer, I'm 37 and I'm trying Spark again. I didn't get the results I was looking for last time, mostly because I wasn't making big enough changes in my life. I'd like to be able to say that I stuck with it this time, and I'd like to be down 7 lbs by my birthday - 07/07. I've got new goals and a better outlook, and an amazing, positive, wonderful friend who has inspired me by losing 140 lbs by eating healthy without cheating and exercising for 8 months. If she can have the discipline to lose 140 lbs, I surly can have the discipline to ultimately lose 20.

Good luck to all of you on your goals and your journey! We can do it!

Hi...I'm 55 and starting Sparkpeople again with a new user name and spark page. Done this before and lost weight but 5 years ago and lots of stuff have went under the proverbial bridge. I have a new grandson who is 4 months old and I so want to be a cool grandma for him...one who can walk, run and play ball. When I created my user name I wanted it to be newmema but I must have typed something wrong 'cause it came out mewmema...LOL. Oh well....

My husband I have been married 30 years and we live on 100 acres. I have no excuses for not exercising!!

Hope we can all give each other lots of encouragement and advice along the way. When I started 5 years ago, my SP class was the best. But everyone has went thru separate ways and no one hardly ever posts anymore. So sad.

Good luck on your first week.

Deb

Hi! I'm Susan and I'm 37. I did WW years ago and did well with it then my excuses kicked in and I lost motivation and have gained every bit of weight back plus 1.5 lbs. I lost my job in January and went through the not eating (and lost weight) because of the emotions to eating constantly (and gaining weight) because of the emotions. I am registered for a Warrior Dash 4.5 mi obstacle course run in August and I need to get in shape. When I used to run, I slept so much better at night. Now, I'm lucky if I get a combined total of 5 hours. This morning my husband showed me a slideshow of pics he and my daughter put together from the day we adopted her and it broke my heart to see how much she's grown over the past five years, but it shattered me because I've let myself get to the point I'm at. I had to write a self describing essay for an assessment Friday a recruiter sent me for one of their clients. That was the hardest thing I've had to do in a long time. I'm a do-for-others kind of person and I took all the things my friends have said about me over the years and strung them along in sentences to complete it. I wrote nothing that was untrue, but I have a hard time accepting it, so I'm working on redesigning myself and running the Army Ten Miler in the fall of 2012.

(sorry it's so long, but it just felt good to say it all)

I am 34, and supposedly about to get to my weight loss goal, though definitely not to my health, fitness and wellness goals (I've been on SP before) before having kids. Except I just ate an entire Lindt chocolate bunny. Purely for emotional reasons. I didn't even enjoy it. I got a little way into it and thought 'This isn't even good chocolate' but forced it all down. That kind of sums it all up. I guess I'll also be joining the 'emotional eaters' teams...

My name is Sam. I am 37, married father of 2. I hover around 210 pounds and am 6 ft tall with a muscular frame. I seem to be stuck in the OK category and want to break through to the awesome category.

My name is Joanna. I'm 23 years old and from Kentucky. My husband and I have been married for almost six years and we have no kids. I'm a huge animal lover, I love to read and I'm kind of a shopaholic. My starting weight is 214 lbs. My goal is to lose 80 pounds.
