I've been a runner for 32 years now, love it. However, I'm waking up to the idea that focusing a lot more often on ST is necessary. For just the reason Cindy gives: bones.
Also, muscle mass is good for keeping the brain well-fed, apparently. I was listening to a fascinating podcast interview of Art Devany by Jimmie Moore. There's a link to the podcast from here: http://www.arthurdevany.com/articles/20110303
So, I'm getting on board with trying to build more muscle mass!

Thanks for welcoming me...Ya, Cindy...stick with yoga...it strengthens bones too! Sore for days isn't good, and it's an indicator you're overdoing it...

I do it because I know I really need it. I am right now counting Yoga as my ST. My arms and core really need the help, otherwise I wouldn't worry about it. I have only tried kettlebells as part of a group training that was WAY to intense for me! I have not gone back, although I really love the trainer. I can't stand being sore for days and not being able to function!

Thanks for welcoming me...yep, you do what u can...and what you can live with...if I can't live with it, I'm not doing it lol...Checked out your profile...if you can't stand ST, don't do it...why do something you don't like? Maybe kettle bells would be better suited to u...

I think we all have our times where we are not 100%, or make concessions to fit our needs or lifestyle.

lol! Half-assed Primal. Yes, it is good to have this corner of SP where fat is allowed and healthy whole grains are not required.

...Hi all...new to this team, but not to Spark...My lifestyle changed a year and a half ago, and since then, I've steadily been cutting down on carbs (as much as an Italian can lol) and leaning toward more healthy fats...tho I don't think I'll ever be able to mangia the liver (ew, hated it as a kid), brains, and all those other nasty bits...after recently reading Deep Nutrition, I found a solution...chicken soup lol...made with the skin, bones and nasty bits (and strained through a fine sieve when done)...awesome!
Any way, glad to be here...where people don't shy away from fats (bacon drippings...mmmmm)...looking forward to getting to know everyone!
