I am doing 2-3 smoothies a day x 13 days now, and feel awesome!

Someone posted on the wall here, main page, about a smoothie challenge starting today?? I went ahead and started a thread on the challenge forum, plz join!

I am also doing a Daniel type diet: fruit, veggies, nuts, seeds. No dairy or meat.

Hi everyone! I started doing green smoothies at the beginning of this year after eating really really really bad the second half of 2014(I even got to the point when I felt sick eating anything which I think was stress related). For the first two weeks that I was eating two smoothies a day (breakfast and dinner) I felt amazing- my hair got better, I had so much more energy and slept like a baby emoticon

Currently I have about 2-3 smoothies a day and would like to make it an everyday part of my diet again.

Looking forward to being part of this team!

Wow, so glad I found this group! Started drinking green smoothies in January. So far I've lost 11 1/2 pounds. Can't say that I have found a smoothie I really like, but the weight loss is amazing so I've continued to drink them. I'll definitely check-out the recipe section.

I'm Trent. I'm a veggie h8r. Green smoothies have helped me to eat (drink/consume) tons of Spinach and kale these past few months. I'm looking to get some really good smoothie recipes as well as share some of my own.

Tips on how to get bang for buck out of smoothies are much appreciated.
* How to keep them fairly low calorie and filling
* How to mask the taste of vegetables that I really don't like the taste of (such as carrots)
* Really optimize micro-nutrients

up until two days ago, I was just kind of winging it. Now I'm starting to analyze the macro-nutrients and trying to reach a balance.

Again, any advice is appreciated!

Hi,

My name is Gianni and I was recently told i would benefit from a gluten free diet due to severe acid reflux. My doctor gave me a book about going gluten free and there was a chapter regarding Green smoothies.. I was like hey I can do this emoticon a green smoothie for breakfast one for dinner (adding proteins etc.) I believe this will help me break my bread and wheat love affair.. emoticon

Hello! I am starting a 10 Day Green Smoothie cleanse today. I am popping here for some support from liked minded people. I am not new to green smoothies. I did a 10 day clean eating challenge at the start of the year, which was basically, one smoothie a day and as much clean eating that you can incorporate. So I have a smoothie often. The full 10 day challenge is nothing but smoothies and veggie snacks for 10 days. (can add some protein if needed). I tell you how it goes! I'm Sami in Michigan

Dianne here. I get a lot of health related e-mails and e-mags, and one or two pointed me to the benefits of green smoothies. Stumbling around on the web, I got enough information to get me started. So, most every morning, I throw part of my fruit bowl and some veggies, including spinach and parsley, at the blender and get a LARGE breakfast. emoticon

Hello everyone! My name is Christine and I am pretty new to green smoothies. I've been drinking them on and off for about a month now, and have seen a huge difference just in how I feel. I've suffered from chronic migraines for as long as I can remember, with 3-4 migraines a week. I've had maybe 3 total in the past month, and that is a BIG blessing! I've also dropped one pants size with no changes to my diet except for the addition of green smoothies a couple times a week. With all the difference I've seen in myself with just these minimal changes, I am inspired to take it even more seriously and make green smoothies a daily part of my life, as well as taking steps towards and overall diet transformation to whole foods.

Hello everyone. I am new here and new to green Smoothies. I saw a friend of mine last weekend for the first in several months and she was looking great. She said that she has replacing one meal a day (breakfast) with a green smoothie for over a year now. So I made my first green smoothie on Monday. What a treat! It was absolutely delicious. Now my husband and I drink one to two everyday. One for breakfast and one as a planned snack. I had no idea that spinach smoothies could be so good. I am now open to other ideas for smoothies.

As for who I am, i have three grown children. The oldest, my son, is married with three children. He has just adopted the two oldest this week.I am a 7th grade Math teacher so I am always on my feet. Ready to try Sparking again.

Hi, Everyone.

I am a empty-nester and grandmother who wants to restart her life, and who has tried to lose weight for decades, but who does not believe in looking back. (I've been on Spark before and got sidelined when I tried to start running & tearing a tendon in my foot.) So, I am back now with great conviction. I know what to eat, know how to slowly recover, and I exercise as best as I can. I only need help discovering the patience it takes to lose a great deal of weight. Are you here for the long haul? I am starting a career as an author and live a very busy life. However, I think some things are most important: friends, family and good health. I've come to believe that if we don't take time to enjoy these three daily, all other parts of our lives become unbalanced also. Wishing you all good health, certain weight loss, and the courage to hang in there for the long haul, especially on slow and difficult days and during the occasional setback that we may all endure. Remember, it's not the number on the scale or how you feel about it -- it's what you chose to do consistently that will make the difference.

I came across this team while researching info. I watched Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead and decided I could also give it a try. I choose to do smoothies because I always read most of a fruits nutrients are in the skin & juicing doesn't include the skin...I also believe fiber is needed in a diet. Because of that, I decided to do a smoothie fast instead of a juice fast. I have some health issues I'd like to see clear up & also some weight to drop off.

Hi everyone! My name is Heather. I'm new to the group and new to smoothies : ). I just started making smoothies this week and I am loving it! I'm trying to eat vegetarian and as raw as possible but I live with a house full of carnivores haha so at times its almost impossible. I'm new to the team and to juicing in general. I used to make smoothies in my blender, but when it quit (as $15 blenders are wont to do) a sprung for a decent juicer and I'm doing the Reboot with Joe thing. I'm normally pretty good about eating my fruits and veggies, but the structure of a juice fast appealed to me, and I love the idea of making a pitcher of juice the night before and then not having to deal with food prep all the next day. I was also intrigued by how many people said they felt really energetic with this regimen.

I have a Breville too and love it! I usually have a juice first thing in the morning and then at 9 am I down my green smoothie.

Hi everyone! I'm Sarah from Rochester, NY. I just decided to get a 2-speed Vitamix as a belated birthday present for myself and my husband and I have been loving our breakfast green smoothies! I love my Breville juicer and making fresh juices... but I've always been disappointed that my juicer never handled greens very well. I know what you mean, I too was skeptical at first. The fruit does mask any greens taste and add frozen fruit or ice and it is good cold. Growing your own kale and spinach is such a plus. Hi Everyone, my name is Teresa and have been seeing the "Green Smoothie" thing on TV ever now and then and thought those can't be good. Well I saw it again yesterday and thought Ok I have got to try those. Well this morning had my first Green Smoothie and it wasn't bad. Hello! emoticon My name is Suzette. I have been sparking since last May. I have about 10 lbs to lose, maybe a little more. I am mostly wanting to get in my servings of fruits and vegetables. I love them but it really takes work to get in 5 plus servings a day. Not so if you are drinking green smoothies. I want to get back into juicing and making smoothies. I firmly believe juicing reduces and even cures cancer. I know I feel better when I do it so it can't hurt! I need the support to make it a habit to have a smoothie or juice at minimum 1x a day.

I live in Oregon, I'm 46 and I love to cook and gardening. I'm slowing down a bit. I used to love lifting weights but I've lost my mojo recently so I'm trying to stay active on Spark and get healthy!

Hello, My name is Cheri. I was faithful using spark and my fitbit I got for Christmas. Then I fell off the calorie counting and have been off this site for over a month or so. In the meantime I started drinking green smoothies for health and weight loss....I need to lose 40 lbs or more. I was using my Oster blender. Then last week I saw an infomercial for a Nutribullet...went to Kohl's and bought one and I am in LOVE with it.The smoothies tasted sooo much more intense, I think it breaks down the cell walls of the greens better than my blender did. I started drinking 2 a day....then got sick....sinus infection? or detox symptoms...maybe a combination of both. I kept and am keeping on drinking 2 a day...switching up the greens. Good luck to all and am so glad there is a Green Smoothie Team!

Howdy y'all, it's Liz from Texas here. I've been sparking for over 6 years, and unfortunately I'm still playing with the same few pounds. I traveled for business for 20 years, but now that I'm semi-retired I want to commit to my health and fitness.

I've had a Blendtec for many years and absolutely love it. I bought it to make green smoothies. In the past, I used fruit, protein powder, and yogurt. Now I'm focusing more on the veggies, less on the fruit. Wish me luck!

Welcome new members!! It's not a hugely busy site, there are though, a LOT of informative posts if you take the time to read back through them. I have a green smoothie every day. I feel better. Almost ALL of the ones I make are good. A couple, not so good but I drink them down anyway,. I have more or less learned what makes good combinations. My best additive is Flaxseed. With flax, I was able to stop using the horrible psyllium fiber. YAY!

Hey Everyone!

My name is Lindsay and I am starting FRESH in 2013! I decided I wanted to get more fruits and veggies in my diet, so I figured I would make it a goal to get at least 1 green smoothie in per day. So far, I have achieved this goal! I am loving it and how good I feel already. :D My hunger has gone down dramatically.

Hi everyone, I just rejoined SP today. Have been on an emotional, stressful 6 months, but even though it's continuing, I've decided I'm getting off that ride. I've started to replace breakfast with a big green smoothie. I usually do one of Annie Phyo's recipes using green tea instead of water, brown rice protein powder, and whatever fruits and greens. I prefer spinach though, kale seems to take over the flavor. I hope to see a difference soon though I know I already feel better getting all my servings out of the way in the morning. It keeps me eating relatively well throughout the day too.

Just do it. No one else will do it for you.

I just ordered a kitchenaid blender in order to give the green smoothie thing a go. As I am new to this, and won't be starting until I recieve my blender, any advice is welcome. I dont know anything much about this. What can I expect?

Hi All!
My name is Jordan, I'm a 23 year old woman with a passion for being fit. My highest weight was 200lbs while in high school. Currently, I weigh 143 but I'm looking to get down to about 132. I have a big frame, so losing much more weight would make me look sick I believe. Anyway, I recently started drinking green smoothies once per day basically to get my daily servings of vegetables incorporated into my diet. I have to tell ya, I absolutely love them! So easy, quick, cheap, and yummy! It's only been about a week but I've already noticed a change in my digestion, for the better. I'm looking forward to further benefits and plan on enjoying one smoothie per day for many days to come!

Hi I'm Mary. I was looking for ways to incorporate more veggies and fruit into my diet...I love green smoothies and have one every morning for breakfast. Glad to find other people who like them too!

Greetings to all Green Smoothie Lovers. I have been with Spark one week today and I am really enjoying myself. Very happy to find this group. I am the only one in my family that drinks green smoothies, my family and friends don't know what they are missing. It gets lonely sometimes because I can't share my enthusiasm with them. I enjoy smoothies so much that I actually find myself craving them. Thanks for being here guys. emoticon emoticon

Hi Everyone,
I,too, am happy to find a green smoothie team! I started doing green smoothies in the mornings a few months ago and really liked them and feel better with more energy in the mornings. I had never tried kale before! I also am slowly starting raw foods and am about 50% raw foods. My goal is to get to 80% raw foods by the end of the year:-)

OMG I'm so happy to be here! I fell in love with smoothies about a year ago. I've had some good ones and not so good ones. Believe it or not fruits n veggies for me are cheaper than buying meat! I can plop my goodies in a blender and poof a beautiful smoothie! I prefer smoothies because they're healthy, tastes great and inexpensive!

Hello,
I am a 55 yr old male. I used homeopathic hCg as several at my work used it and lost a ton of weight. I had been slowly losing till the hCg and on the hCg, I lost 65 lbs. Well, maintenance did not work and I have gained back 40 lbs. Several others at work also have regained what they lost and some even more. I watched the movie "Fat, Sick. and Nearly Dead" as recommended by another ex hCg user and got me to thinking. I tried juicing for 3 days and it totally sucked, I don't think I will ever "juice" again. I found that some "juicers" were not juicing but doing smoothies. I decided to try the smoothies as they had the pulp which the juices dont and I did not like that part of the juicing at all. I looked into smoothies and watched the nutribullet video and other resources. We needed a new blender so I found one that did the work of the nutribullet. Not a Vitamix as they are expensive but I bought a Ninja Pro. I have been doing 2-3 smoothies/day for a week now and enjoy them a good deal. My weight is slowly dropping. I will have to interrupt my smoothie diet as I travel to work for 3 weeks at a time and cannot blend the smoothies easily as we are very remote and depend on the camp staff to provide food. I hope this smoothie thing works whilst I am home every 3 weeks. (3/3 week schedule). I will try the intermittent fasting while at work. If you need info on that, just google it, lots of info on it. basically fasting for 16+ hrs however many times per week you want. WIsh me luck on losing again and keeping it off.

Hi all

I was happy to find a green smoothie team here, very cool.
I am a 57 year old lady married to a wonderful man etc etc (am very happy in my life)

I don't know how I stumbled upon green smoothies but I am so glad I did. I have been drinking a greenie a day since about mid July. It has been transformational! I really started them for the promise of energy, I had pretty much abandoned hope as far as weight loss was concerned.

Got most of my info from a website called incrediblesmoothies.com. Got a blendtec blender and I was off and running.

Then I noticed as my energy was increasing my weight was decreasing, AMAZING!

Then I remembered good ole sparkpeople. Started tracking and getting re-involved about mid August, and have just been going full steam since.

However, I am not vegan and I don't eat a strictly raw food diet. Hope that's okay?

So I am looking forward to combining my green smoothie life style with a sparkpeople mind set.

If I can do anything to help let me know.
